Forced us to use Kit Kat.  Are we getting a fix?

I have a RAZR MAXX HD (now with Kit Kat).  I am a long time VZW customer and feel that this should have never been imposed.  I was literally FORCED to update to Kit Kat.  I did not want to.  I read about the many issues with this roll out and so I decided to wait a while, if not forever, on installing Kit Kat.  The notification kept popping up and I kept hitting ignore.  I knew sooner or later that I would accidentally hit the wrong button.  Sure enough, 2 weeks later I was sending a text and it popped up.  I hit the wrong button while trying to type.  Installed Kit Kat because I was FORCED to do so!  Now there are many many issues reported all over the place about this update not working properly.  Mine in particular involves a few different things.  Most notably, I no longer get good service.  I NEVER lost service in my own house prior to this update.  Now, I lose service every time I try to make a call.  Additionally, my phone likes to open things (apps) randomly now.  Every single time I try to exit an app (even by hitting home key) my phone opens one or more apps that I hadn't been using nor even planned on using.  Sometimes it takes me minutes to get to the place I want to go on my phone because it just keeps opening things on its own.  So frustrating.  This never happened with Jelly Bean.
So with my situation briefly explained, plus the many others .... ARE WE GETTING A FIX?  Or are we just left to figure it out on our own?  I have waited for quite some time now and have seen no updates.  Before I delve into the world of rooting and using an alternative OS that can brick my device, I will move on entirely to a different company.  This is NOT what I paid for and NOT how I expect to be treated as a loyal customer.

See these screen shots Below.. what you see below is the Update or my phone's update to  Kit Kat  &  what follows is the option to defer it you should of had that same option on your phone since it's a Motorola device)  it can get Quite annoying seeing this I have deferred updating since I got my Droid Maxx and that has been since Feb of this year!
But with this option it does not force you into taking the update..  On another Motorola device I owned I waited over a year to update it and with the same option below I just kept deferring the update. b33

  • 2.2 - When are we getting a fix for the crap update? Can I get rid of 2.2?

Ever since my phone did the update..It's a piece of crap.  It goes so slow. It freezes ALL of the time. I can't open my text messages several times a day.  I don't receive phone calls sometimes, while it's doing it's freezing thing. It has me force close apps over and over again, many times a day.
I've taken the phone into Verizon and they did a "reset" but that did nothing...after about 15 mins of use it was doing all of the freezing and force closing again.
Everyone is having problems since the 2.2.  I can't believe more people haven't signed up for this forum on purpose to complain or try and get answers like I did.
    Does ANYONE have any answers?
Can I get rid of the 2.2 and go back to how my phone was before because it worked perfectly then.
Is there an update coming to fix this update?
Should I just get a new phone?  Or a different phone all together?
Is there some trick I don't know about that will fix all of this crap?
2.2 reminds me of Vista when it first came out.  Nothing but bugs and problems for everyone.  A totally new way cool system that wasn't perfected before forcing everyone to have it.
    UGH!   Help anyone?

Search the boards, everyone is NOT having issues, in fact most are not. That is why there are not a ton of messages. But they are there.I was one at one point. I personally, would do a factory reset. That was my cure all. Two if you have a task killer, delete it.
Other things to try before a reset is pull the battery out while the unit is on, wait a minute, reinsert and power up. (Basically a soft reset) Also dial and call *228 and choose option 1.
No you can not go back to 2.1, without voiding your warranty and 2.1 is not needed anyways.
If you are unsure on how to do a factory reset, (I suspect the store did a soft reset) leave a message here and someone will walk you through. IF you do teh factory reset and still have locking up issues, you will need to do a warranty exchange.

Once pictures are moved from your camera to your iPad (using the camera connection kit), how do you get the photos off of the iPad? They do not show up in my photo stream or my iCloud. I am able to see any photo I took on the iPad using the iPad camera (in iTunes, photo stream, or when I open windows explorer and browse the iPad director), however I cannot see any photos transfered from my camera to the iPad. The camera connection kit must have put my photos in a directory I cannot get to and cannot sync.

  • When are we getting Kit Kat????

Google Camera gets an overhaul, released into Play Store for KitKat devices | Android Central
There's a new camera update, but only for phone updated to Kit Kat. So the good folks at Verizon that have the Note 3 are not able to be on the cutting edge of innovation. Why is that???

The above comment tells you all you need to know, regarding what we (the Galaxy Note 3 people) must endure. ...lol.  Jonathan, assuming you're a real person, it would have been better not to respond at all.  But thank you, yes, I am excited about receiving updates that make certain functions of my phone run better. I also get excited when the heater turns on in my car, when it's cold outside.

  • Which model of Lenovo smartphone are upgrade able to kit kat 4.4

Hey I would like to know which model of Lenovo smartphone are upgrade able to kit kat 4.4
    Moderator Note; subject edited

I am on my third s4 in three weeks because of overheating. The first fried itself into oblivion. The second overheated, and would shut down. The current one  is 48 hours old, overheated 5+ times on my way home from work after having it for 24 hours...and fried the sim card reader.
I had a loaner S3...24 hours after having it: boot loop.
The entire S3/S4/S5 line is defective. Verizon is insane for letting their reputation turn to sh!t because they are ignoring it, and insist on replacing like for like (S4 for S4), and enraging their customers. I have BEGGED every day for TWO WEEKS for a replacement that is NOT another S4.

  • I have an older s3 that is off-network, How can I get the kit kat update on my s3?

I have a "retired" Galaxy S3 that I am keeping as a spare-  The Kit Kat update supposedly has been available since 6/20, but I cannot get the software on my off-network phone to update-  even though is is connected by wi-fi.  I spent about a half hour chatting on-line with tech support Monday, 6/23, who assured me that is would update over wi-fe-  although I have NOT been able to do so yet.   I went into the Verizon store yesterday, and the woman I spoke to there told me all I had to do was swap SIM cards with my active phone, then casually mentioned that if I did that, it would void the warranty on my new phone by taking it off-network.  Great, just what I would want to do...
I am seriously considering re-activating it for a couple hours, just to get it updated, then deactivating it again.  It would seem there should be an easier way.

Thank you for the prompt reply, but still unsatisfying.  I spent a couple hundred dollars for this phone less than 2 years ago (not to mention the $600 for the S5 off-contract a couple months ago) and you are telling me that I have to void the warranty or open a new data-service line to get the proper support for my Verizon-branded device?  At this point the S3 is off warranty and primarily used on wi-fi-  I could just as well root it and run custom ROMs I suppose-  nothing to lose at this point, since the company that sold it to me won't even help to keep it up-to-date.  I don't mean to sound like a whiner, but this is not what most would consider good customer support.

  • Kit Kat data connection problems

Since updating to kitkat (among other problems) my data connection drops to 3G almost everywhere, and sometimes unexpectedly disappears completely. I used to have 4G everywhere most places and always in the two zip codes I primarily use the phone from. 02113 and 01970. Anyone know how to fix? Is this just one of the things they need to correct in the next kit kat update? Thanks.

I've had this issue for months.  I've done everything Verizon suggested, including new sims, factory reset, toggling Airplane mode, LTE on/off, radio on/off, reboots, *#*#4636etc., and more.  Nothing helps.  My phone still intermittently loses the 4g connection.  They haven't suggested trying a new (not new; reconditioned), but I don't want to go that route; I know others who have gotten a replacement, and it hasn't helped.
It isn't fixed in the upcoming update according to developers forums.
Some think it's due to Verizon's network; others believe it's an inherent problem in the 4g chipsets in these first generation LTE phones.  I don't believe Verizon knows what's going on; they're just hoping the issue's fixed in the next gen phones, and the problem will go away.  Of course the problem with that is that some of their customers who are stuck with these phones will also go away at the end of our contracts, especially if another wireless company manages to come out with a RELIABLE high-speed 4g network.

  • Is There Any Way Under Heaven to Prevent Kit-Kat from Installing?

I've already had my phone screwed up enough.  Tonight the stupid Kit-Kat downloaded to my Galaxy S3, and I'm getting those annoying pop-up dialogues asking me when I want to start the install.
I don't WANT to start the install.  After reading so many problems here, especially the battery charging issues, I don't understand why this update continues to be pushed on those that have not already been stuck with it.
Please!  ANYONE!  Tell me how to get this out of my phone.  I am looking for new phone, though I shouldn't have to, but it's going to be a couple of months before I can do it.  I'm only one year into a 2-year contract so I'm having to pay out of pocket for the new one.  I've already spent a ton of money on portable power packs, extra batteries, extra chargers.
These things are money-pits, plain and simple.  And making people tear their hair out.  For Pete's sake, leave us alone!

    bubblemaker  Elector
    Try this...
Application Manager-All-Google Services Framework-Uncheck Show Notifications
That at least stopped the annoying popups that just WAIT for you to get through your lock-screen, then jump in before you can hit another app, forcing the install.
I don't know if this will hold it off forever, but my daughter has been able to avoid the 4.3 update since last December.
The Android icon will appear in your notification bar, but it will remain quiet.
EDITED TO UPDATE:  Well, no, it isn't working after all.  All is lost and our phones are doomed.

  • Droid DNA battery life after kit kat update cut in half

Since the kit kat update,  my battery has gone from lasting about 13 hours to barely 7. If I am actually using the phone heavily it's less.  If I look under usage, Android system is shown at 76% with Facebook being next highest at 6%. I haven't installed any new apps since well before the update.
I'm also experiencing a very long delay in opening sms messages- about 45 seconds, with considerable delay in sending as well.
Any help here? I use my phone almost exclusively for texting and Facebook messaging, as well as taking pictures/using Instagram.

In response to the list of items in the first link, I've verified the device is undamaged, and I am using the replacement charger sold to me in the Verizon store. My original charger cord came apart within a few weeks of getting the phone.
I've done a soft reset several times in the last few weeks. Doesn't seem to make a difference. Software is up to date which is where my issue seems to be coming form.
I'm still using the phone in the same manner as I was before the problem occurred. I've removed or disabled any apps I do not use only a few weeks ago. I have put the phone into safe mode as of this morning, so will see if the battery drains as quickly with with almost everything disabled.
The phone is generally connected to wifi within our home and always has a strong signal. Display settings are set for the display to sleep after 30 seconds, I am not using live wallpaper, and my brightness is set at about 75%.
    GPS is turned off.
I'm not sure what my syncing settings are set at, but they have not changed save for one item that was altered when the latest update rolled out. After the update, Google offered me an auto-back-up service for my photos and videos (uploading them to my Google account) which I turned on. I've turned this off for now. Otherwise my settings for push/pull are unchanged.
I don't stream audio or video from my phone with any frequency (less then once a week). I have not yet done a device reset. Hoping to hold off on that if possible.
Even in safe mode, there is still an extremely long delay in accessing my SMS messages. That has not changed. I will update more at the end of the evening or tomorrow.

  • How can I get rid of kit kat?

It seems that the answere for the disaster called kit kat is that they will send you a new phone? Why should I need to do that when you ruined and "fixed" something that was not broken. Is there a plan to fix the issues that it seems the all Droid owners are experiencing? I can garantee tha I will never buy another Motorola product again.

        @retromamba,
    Thanks for the additional info!
Are you using a a BlueTooth Low Energy (BLE) device, like a FitBit? If so it may lose the Wi-Fi connectivity if the device is connected to a Wi-Fi network, or device may not be able to connect to a Wi-Fi network. When the device loses the Wi-Fi connection, the device automatically connects to the cellular network.
You can re-connect to the wifi and then make sure to disable automatic background syncing on your Bluetooth low energy device application/web settings so it auto connects to the wifi when you return.

  • FIX KIT KAT IMMEDIATELY!!!!

Kit Kat just is a horrible update!
I am having the same charging issues that MANY others are having! I've been using the same chargers for 1 1/2 years and have never had a problem until this past weekend when I did the update to Kit Kat.
This is a MAJOR issue that affects ALL of your customers who have done the switch to Kit Kat. When will this issue be resolved?? I certainly hope it will be IMMEDIATE as I, and others, cannot charge our phones!! If we can't charge, we can't use. If we can't use there should be credits to accounts due to non usage!!

    CALL SAMSUNG IMMEDIATELY!
it is their issue to fix, not Verizon!
    Good Luck

  • GS4 Can't send SMS after 4.4.2 Kit Kat update

Just as the title states, updated to kit kat last night and now I cant send SMS, only receive. All other functionality (4g wifi etc) works
    Galaxy S4

I don't know why so many people are complaining about the Kit Kat update for their GS4.  Folks you have to learn to adjust to new things.  I know its frustrating when your $600 phone that worked perfectly well before but now it is no longer able to make or get calls bothers you, but Android, Samsung, and Verizon know what they are doing.  Right??? They wouldn't release a buggy update that would drastically  change the way you can use your phone without warning you if it wasn't for your good? Right???  You just have to relax and evolve.  Things are changing.  Smart phones making and receiving calls and text messages, and connecting to the internet...that is so last week.  (you know before we upgraded to Kit Kat) .  Now you just need to think positive about all the things your phone can still do.   You may not be able to get a signal to dial out and make and receive calls.  Me neither. But i can still get the voice mails that my boss, my son's school,  and my mom's doctor leave for me.  This Kit Kat has completely changed how I can use my phone. I'm going to remain positive, because I do not want to go back to jail.     I remember 2 weeks ago when I could use my phone to make calls, send and receive text messages, and i used to be able to get calls too. People from all over would call me. It was nice.  Those were the good old days.  But Kit Kat has changed all of that now.  Its a new world and we have to learn to adjust and move on.   Now thanks to Kit Kat my Galaxy S4 is my main remote control for my tv. The IR still works.   I mean I wouldn't have normally spent $600 on a tv remote, but what can you do. Its Android.  They know what's best.

  • DROID RAZR MAXX HD - Battery Life Halved following Kit-Kat Update

While I like many aspects of the Kit Kat Update, the battery life on my RAZR MAXX HD is half of what it once was under Jelly Bean.
I have tried the same Smart Action settings used previously, when I was getting up to 3 days per charge...and I have turned off all the Smart Actions, but the result is still the same. I am now lucky to get 24 hours out of a charge...under very light usage.
I was also sometimes unable to toggle wifi with the Smart Actions turned on. No such issues as long as the Smart Actions are turned off.
I am hesitant to perform a Factory Reset, but is that my only option?
It does seem as if there should be a 4.4.2 update forthcoming, but I have seen nothing to indicate that it is.

I'm sorry you're having issues with the battery on your device bljusn. I know its frustrating and thanks for trying all those steps to correct the issue. The hard reset would be the last step towards fixing some of the issues with your phone. When you perform the hard reset, make sure you don't restore your apps because they could be causing some of the issues with your phone if their not compatible with the new software. We recommend adding them on one by one to check for issues. Keep us posted.
