Forcing Variable Entry with Web Application Designer Bookmark
Hello All,
We have users that are creating bookmarks in a Web Application report. They want to change their dates every time they open the bookmark, but the variable entry screen is not showing up even with the "Force Variable Entry Screen" option checked. Is this how a bookmark is suppossed to funciton or is there anyway to make the variable entry screen appeear with a saved bookmark.
***the purpose of the bookmark is for users to save the format of the report as they see fit

when you save yorru personalization, you dont save it to internet explorer favourites. its a different code to save personilization.

Variable entry in Web application designer
Hi,
In the Variable entry screen in the Web app designer on executing a template, when I open the drop down menu for possible values, it leads to two more new variable entry screens wherein the selected values are populated instead of the original entry screen. This repeats for every additional variable entry selection, including the from and to selections. Any idea how this can be fixed? We are on SP7.

I solved this by changing the configuration in the WAD by changing the open dialogues in new window to 'do not open window'.

Hello
I would know how I can print a web template made with Web Application Designer 3.X and that it is in the Intranet.
Actually I'm printing that page with the option of the browser (Internet Explorer) but it print only I see, no print all the chart and the rest of the columns.
How can I print all the data that compose the web template?

First check whether you have change authorizations for WAD, check you user name is added in the role for web templates and also check the authorizations.
then in the web template in the menu bar go to view option ,select web items and properties , so that you can find them in the left hand side, then replace the chart item with the table and assign the query to the table.

Variable values not passing with Web Application Designer
We are on SP 11
I have defined variables in the planning modeler (no personalization) that should be used when executing a copy function. The idea is to have ready input capability. For example, the variable VERSION is defined - when the planning function is executed, the user should have the ability to select a version value. I have defined TWO button groups to enable the user this feature, however the values will not override the default variable value defined in the planning modeler
BUTTON GROUP #1 - this is a copy function button with Display Varable Screen option ON. When I press the button, the variable entry WEB Page Dialog pops up (with the default value). If I input a differenct value, we get the error the the value characteristic is not included in the selection. If we use the drop down available on the dialog box to select available values, we get what's on the Web Template (it seems the drop down option is not working)
BUTTON GROUP #2. - This is a VARIABLE BUTTON using the Open Variable Dialog command (the expectation was to override the default value) When we use the drop down option on the Web Page Dialog, we have the ability to select the valuse available, however the value does not override the default value defined on the planning modeler.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Force Variable screen with Web Templates
We are on SP7 and have made the necessary settings based on note 950463, however the variable screen only pops up the first time you click the "New Analysis" button. If you click the button again, and select a query with optional variables, the variable screen does not show up. I've tried setting the default parameters in the IMG and in the portal iview to always pass the parameter VARIABLE_SCREEN=X along with making the necessary modifications to our default web template, but none of this has worked. Has anyone else come accross this?

Below is a version of the web analyzer I created with the following changes:
1. Variable screen will always open on subsequent calls to the "New Analysis" button, even for optional variables.
2. A button for refresh. This button basically calls the variable screen. If no variables exist, then this will just refresh, but if variables do exist, this launches the variable screen and then refreshes, similar to the refresh used within the 3.x Bex Analyzer...
3. A button for "Back to Start" which takes you to the inital state of the web application.
4. A button for "Back" which will take you back one navigation state. Hope this code helps!

Variable Screen in Web Application Designer (disappers after execute click)
Hi,
I have a Bex query in WAD, one of the variables is set to mandatory in Bex Query. i have also checked the "Force Variable Screen Display" option in web template. Initially when i call this Web template URL the varible screen is displayed and if i do not enter any value for the mandatory variable i get an error message till here everything works fine.
But when i provide the variable values and click on execute the variable screen disappears and never comes back again, how can fix this variable screen, so that it should be always visible even if i navigate between pages. I have WAD 3.5.

Creating templates using WAD,will take the Data Provider as Query and not workbook.
Hence you can't use workbook for reporting with WAD.
Workbook will come into picture in case of BEx Analyzer,wherin you will create a workbook on top of a query.

Print PDF file with the lay out created in the BEx web application designer
Got the following questions (problems) when print a web report created in BEx Web Application Designer to a PDF file:
1. The tile (which has a company logo and report name in it) was not printed, is it possible to print a title (with company logo) on each page of the PDF file?
2. Want print the filters that have value specified on the PDF file, is it possible to do this?

you can achieve this requirement i.e. using this way of implementation:
1. Create a new template which contains the required fields (company logo etc) and set the visibility of the top container to "hidden". Add a empty data provider to this template and add the filter values (variable names) you want to display on the PDF. However be aware that the name for the (empty) data provider must match the name of the data provider within the original template you want to print.
2. Open your original template and include the template you created in step 1 (Advanced: Web Templates). Choose the appropriate location (above/below the analysis item.
3. Check the settings of your export command: do not set a special web item to be printed.
If you export the template within web the second template should be printed correctly.

Problem with layout in Web Application Designer
Hi all,
I am working with the BEx Web Application Designer. Well, I execute a web template in the browser, click on right button and choose enhanced menu, query properties and mark the check box Display Rows as Hierarchy and Expand to and from the list of values (combo-box) choose the last field that can be expanded.
Once all the lines have been expanded and the layout of the template is longer than a page, we look for a line that is not in the first page and contract it. The problem is that when we contract the line, the layout shows the first page, instead of the page where the line had been contracted. I have tried to solve this changing the properties that appear when the template is designed, but I haven´t found the solution. Is there any way so that i can solve it?

Try this out...
In the Query designer view , right click on the rows structure and select display as hierarchy. In case this option works fine , the behavior pointed out by you could be a possible bug.
Just update the result of what I have mentioned above...

I have just discovered the capability of modifying columns widths with css properties.
So if I add to the head section of the html:
div.prueba2 .urSTTDBdr1
div.prueba2 .urSTTDBdr
div.prueba2 .urSTTDBdr2
And later I put the AnalysisItem between a div class="prueba2" and /div, the columns widths are changed.
Do you know where can I find all the style properties (such as urSTTDBdr1) and its functions?

Problem with BEx Web Application Designer
Hi,
we use since last week the Web Application Designer with the SAP GUI 7.2.
Now I have a big problem since last week. I can call existing templates but unfortunately not change! I make a change in the template and save it. When I viewed the template again but no change is saved!
A new template I can create and change
Does anyone know the problem? The behavior also occurs with the old Gui 7.1.

Do you get any error before opening of an existing template in WAD? Doesn't look to be a problem with the different SAP GUI versions. Maybe somethings gone wrong with the Java - ABAP config settings or Java Portal communication settings. Maybe you should check with your BASIS team on the same. Tell them what the problem is & they will run a trace to figure out.

I created a template in WAD (Web Application Designer) and inserted table which is connected to Query. Given Query consists variable also. However WAD generating report without any variables.
