Forecasting using historical values

I am doing forecasting for a material. I have created the forecasting view for the material and entered the consulption values. I want the forecasting output to create a forecast where the current month' s forecast = the same month's historical sales last year. When I try to execute the forecast the 'forecast execution' tab has the 'historical' as greyed out. Is there a way I can copy historical values as forecast.

Hi John,
As per my understanding you want that that the sales for month jan-2008 = forecast for jan-2009.
If that is the requirement then you can maintain the following setting.
Model = D constant
Period indicator = M
histroy period = 12
Forecast period = 12
Maintain the Consumption for the whole year 2007.

Forecasting: all historical values are zero

Hello,
I would like to execute forecast for a specific material.
Then I'm in MM02 in forecasting view, I filled all necessary parameters and I press "execute forecasts".
I received different pop ups, and one is "Between 11.2006 and 10.2011 all historical values are zero".
If I go out of this, and press on "Consumption vals", I have no data for unplanned consumption but if I click on "Total consumption", I got all values for each period of my historical periods.
So why do I have this message that historical values are zero? Then I have no chance to execute forecast with that behavior.
Same with several other materials.

In MM of forecasting view there is filed Hist. periods which you could have probably maintain more than 12 months say 60. So starting from current months it will go backward & search value for last 60 months. In your case it is not finding any past values. Have you maintain it in Additional data of material master Consumption tab ? Maintain some values for months & then try

Forecasting and User Settings For Displaying Historical Values

I am attempting to perform a forecast model. After entering the selection criteria I get the message "Forecast includes only historical values as from P 01/2011 --> F1" .
when I expand on the message I see
Forecast includes only historical values as from P 01/2011 --> F1
     Message no. MA 559
Diagnosis
     You want to carry out the forecast for the historical values from 04/2010 to 08/2011. However, historical values prior to P
     01/2011 are zero. The system response to this situation depends on the user. The following responses are possible:
     1. The entire historical period is included nonetheless.
     2. Historical values before P 01/2011 are not included.
     The user setting that has been made for you corresponds to variant 2.
Procedure
   You can change the historical values in the period from 04/2010 to 08/2011 manually, regardless of the user setting. If
   variant 2 applies and zero values before P 01/2011 are then corrected, the historical period used by the forecast is extended
   to include this date or period.
Questions
   1. Where does the "user setting that has been make for you corresponds to variant 2" reside in SAP? How can I see this?
        What other variant values are available to me? How would I change this value if I wanted to? This seems to indicate that
        this is a user profile setting since it's dependent on the user????
   2. I am ?assuming? that variant 2 means that "2. Historical values before P 01/2011 are not included" is the choice, above,
        that is being made. I ?assume? that variant 2 means that the forecast extends back as far in the selected period as there
        is a value that is found that is not zero. Is that correct?
Any insight/help would be appreciated.

FM of Original Historical Value of Material

Hi All,
I would like to know is there any function module available for finding Original Historical Value of Material?
Above value can be found in Forecasting view of material. MM02/MM03->Forecasting(view)->Forecast Values
System will display a popup box and in the first column it shows Original Forecasting Value.
I have to display this value in my report but I am not able to find function module. Can somebody please help me?

Actually it comes up with three boxes.....first I have to press Enter....second Execute Forecast(F7)....the again Execute Forcast(F7) on different pop up window and finally it shows data on a new-pop up here we have to press Enter key again to see the result of function module. I used MATERIAL_FORECAST_DIALOG in my program hoping it won't show above pop-ups but it does shows and after doing above 4 steps only it shows me result. I am not sure how to avoide these po-ups.

Iam doing characteristic planning for a KMAT material in a new development project, is there any way to enter historical data for characteristic values so that they will be forecast.
does historical data for characteristic values will remains in the SAP system for make to order process in future?

I delete all characters in RSKC transaction and write " ALL_CAPITAL".
Then I try to upload data from ODS to infocube.Result is the same.I can not update infocube because of invalid character error message.
ODS is extracting data from generic datasource.And uploading data to ODS is succesfull.I have no error messages such as invalid characters.But I can not load data to infocube from the ODS.
I looked at the record in RSA3 Tcode in R3 system.The value is '5950514174#'.I can not this value to infocube.It is a description field in R3.
But as you will see in my first post I defined space(''), (#) and (' #) characters in RSKC before.And this time I define ALL_CAPITAL in RSKC.But nothing changed in both cases.
I have still the same error.
PS :I created a char characteristic, size 60,in BW to upload this description field.

How to Load Historical values from Material Prices

I have to load historical values from Material Prices.
I'm using extractors 0CO_PC_ACT_02 and 0CO_PC_ACT_05.
Do you know how I can do this in a easy way?

Hi Joao,
This extractor0CO_PC_ACT_05 takes the data from table MBEW. ( data for the current period, previous period and last period of the previous year )
If material ledger is active, then it takes the information from table ckmlhd for those materials.
It does not look like fetching from MBEWH.
Please validate my above comments with sample extraction for a material and plant.
If that is the case, I would suggest you have to create a custom extractor based on MBEWH to get the historic price data and with 0CO_PC_ACT_05 you can get the prices for the previous period as they get completed .
0CO_PC_ACT_02 gets you the inventory value and not the price in the same way.
You might have to think about 0CO_PC_ACT_06 and 0CO_PC_ACT_07, if you have project stock and sales order stock in your business scenario.

CBF: Inconsistency with the forecast in charactetistics values level

Hi Guys:
I`m working with CBF, trying to make prototype, and the main problem than I have is when I release the forecast, and I check the forecast for each characteristics values, I've obtained the same forecast for different characteristics values.
EXAMPLE:
HISTORY
CH color:
V1    x
V2    y
FORECAST
CH color
V1    q
V2    q
So my question is how can I get a forecast in characteristics values level correctly?
What sould be wrong?

Hi,
Have u put demand mannually at aggregated level? or Did u take forecast run at aggregated level?If u did forcast run at aggregated level,then u should have proportional factor to disaagregated at detailed level or u should take forecast run at V1, V2 level.So that u will find the difference in two Characteristic values.
Actully,currently i am working on same scenariao i.e. CBF for one STEEL PLANT.eventhough i through with CBF,means 95 % work is over,but 5 % left becz prob. with some characteristics.
Just go through following scenario...
Actually i have done the setting related to CBF in R/3 as well as in APO.We have one material having one class & some characteristic s with some dependancies.In that class i have added two more characteristic which is i have created.Eventhoug that 2 char. also having some dependencies.
Now,scenario is that whenever i am using my characteristic for CBF,then forecasting consumption is happening,but whenever i am using other characteristic for CBF,forecasting consumption not happenning.
So,have u done all CBF configuration & Do u know the solution for this issue? Kindly check this issue & let me know pls..I would really appreciate you regarding the same.

I am trying to use Default values so that user need not have to enter data, but when I select default type and put a default value, I see an error message, if I try to add a new row.
How can I use a default value in a Column in a Tabular Form?

Gouri,
You can just simply edit to each column's report attribute. For example,
To set default date,
Default Type: PL/SQL Expression of Function
Default: sysdate
To set default text,
Default Type: PL/SQL Expression of Function
Default: *'CLERK'*

Using null value of item

Hi All,
I use this part-of-code in pl/sql statement in a 'where' clause in order to filter records to those that took place between some hours range:
..... and to_char(STARTDATE,'HH24:MI:SS') between NVL(:P3_HOURS_FROM,'00:00:00') and NVL(:P3_HOURS_TO,'23:59:59')
P3_HOURS_FROM & P3_HOURS_TO are combo box items with LOV (0:00,0:30,1:00 ....etc that returns 00:00:00,00:30:00,1:00:00 respectively). I use a null value which is displayed as '--:--'.
when i choose some hour range the rsults are correct. the problem is when i choose null values. there is no results to the report, probably (i guess) because it somehow translate the (null) time value to the same value (and it's obvious that between same time values there isn't any result).
so i guess i use 'null' value in an inappropriate way.
Can u tell me what do i do wrong???

Are you sure you are returning NULL and just displaying '--:--' in your LOV?
If the state of your LOV is becoming '--:--' then this does not equal null in PL/SQL land.
I presume you are also submitting after changing your LOVs?
You can check the state of your items by clicking the session state in the developers toolbar at the bottom. See what your items are being set and report back!

How to use Table valued MSSQL function in OBIEE

Hi all,
Can some one help me to understand how to use table valued function in OBIEE? I want to use a table valued function (MSSQL function, with some input parameter), in the physical layer to pull the data?
I know for MSSQL Stored Procedure we can write as
EXEC SP_NAME @Parameter = 'VLUEOF(NQ_SESSION.Variablename)'
but now I have a table valued function in the query window I can get the data as
select * from myfunction(parametervalue)
In physical layer of OBIEE I have tried as
select * from myfunction('VLUEOF(NQ_SESSION.Variablename)'), but I'm getting error as the NQ_SESSION variable doesn't have a value , but actually I have initialized the variable but still Im getting error.
Can some one help me to solve this.

Can I use the value range as F4 ValueHelp in WebUI?

Hi,
I have a Z-field in CustomerH. Its datatype has a domain with a fixed value range attached.
I show this field in the header of a sales order but the value help does not show up automatically.
My question is: Can I use this value range as input for the value help or do I have to code a "real" value help and attach it via the V-Getter?

How can I use a Value at several different places without using a long wire?

too much wire alway make program into mess.So can I use the Value in labview like using it in C.
I have try the "Local Value",but it don't work well as a Cluster. For example, I can't connect it with "Unbundle By Name" and other Cluster Tools.

Overuse of local variables is probably worse than the "mess" created by long wires. It increases memory usage, violates data flow, and increases probability of race conditions. A better solution to long wires is to make the diagram smaller by using subVIs. There's been a lot of discussion here and in the various LabVIEW style guides about avoiding local and global variables. I use them seldom and only then when I doing some complicated user interface.
