Form Fields Keep Changing

I am new to Acrobat XI Pro.  I am creating a fillable form.  I have all my fields in place i.e. text, check box, etc. and in the process of cleaning up the form by resizing and shifting some of the fields.  When I make a change in size or position of one field, it changes all the other fields at the same time, which messes up the whole form.  Is there a setting I am not "unchecking" or a way to prevent this from altering the rest of the form?

Are you saying that it changes the sizes of the other fields when you change one, or is something else being changed?

  • Table Format order and visibility in Form Settings keeps changing

    Dear Experts,
We are facing a concurrent problem where there is constant change in the table format of the form settings in marketing documents.
The columns order keeps changing and also the visibility box which will be ticked, becomes again unticked the next day for particular columns which are used.
Event though it is set one time in manager login and locked the doc settings for other end users. The format keeps changing.
It has to be set dially manually. Is  there a permanent solution for it .

  • Global default form field font change

    Hi.
I've created a form in InDesign (CC 9.2.1) with mulitple text fields. Does anyone know of a way to globally change the font from Times New Roman to another in the PDF? This is the default font, but it clashes visually in the form. I'd like to change it to Arial or Helvetica (nothing fancy), which would better suit the form, and look much more professional than Times.
I've read that JavaScript can do this (when run from the Debugger console in Acrobat – my version is 11.0.06), but I don't know JavaScript well enough to write or debug it.
Manually selecting properties on every field would be very time-consuming, and there's no option to pre-select the font in InDesign. Plus, if I then amend the form or make changes in InDesign, I'd have to re-do all my properties changes.
I've also seen a comment (on here somewhere) where someone has altered a registry file to set the default font. I'm on Mac, so does anyone know of a similar method on Mac that might work? I'm happy to delve into package contents etc.
Has anyone had any success doing this?

Firstly, try changing the ContactID to a hidden field, and
    just for the user
maybe display it on the page also.
    <input type="hidden" name="ContactID" value="**put field
    here**" />
As for the username, in your Application Panel under Bindings
    click the +
and choose Session Variable and enter MM_Username. Drag this
    where ever you
want it to appear, including the default value for a field.

  • Dynamic forms that keep changes?

I am trying to get a dynamic form built that will keep the changes that are made when the file is saved and then opened up again. For example If I have 6 sub forms to begin with and I delete 3 of them and text to others (some of them expand) and save the document then close it I would like to be able to open the document and see only the 3 sub forms there. Instead when I open the document the 3 changed fields in their respective sub forms are as they should be but the other sub forms show up too.
I'm not sure what I need to do to remedy this. Any Ideas anyone?

    Is there a solution?

  • How to change font in multiple form fields?

I am creating a form - there are about 2 dozen form fields that are set up.
I had Acrobat detect form fields.
Is there a way I can select multiple form fields and change the font in all of them?
I have tried selecting all the fields [cmd A] and double clicking to get to the appearance tab.
The only changes the font in the 1 field I double click.
    thanks everyone!

Select all the form fields , select first the hold shift key and select the rest Then right click or control click and choose properties. then look for "Fonts" choose desired font. If this works your all set otherwise you will have to choose each indivually and change.

  • Filling of form fields changing depending on how PDF is opened, why?

First of all, here is the error message that I am trying to deal with:
"This document contained certain rights to enable special features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and these rights are no longer valid. Please contact the author for the original version of this document."
    Software & PDF details:
    Adobe Reader 8. V8.1.1
    PDF Producer:     Toolkit http://activepdf.com
    PDF Version:       1.5 (Acrobat 6.x)
The PDF is set to with:
    Filling of form fields: Allowed
After investigation I have found that:
If I open the file by double clicking, I am able to fill in the fields and save without any problems.
If the file is opened as a result of a software process trigger (which is what I actually want to achieve), the "Filling of form fields" is changed to "Not Allowed". This then results in the error message described above.
Also, I have another PDF with exactly the same settings as above (PDF version and Producer etc), which successfully generates as a result of the software process trigger. This file that works does not change the "Filling of Form Fields" value.
So, my question is, why would a particular PDF change the "filling of form fields" value depending on how it is opened?

Ok, that is a useful result, telling us a lot.
Some background you need. Reader 8 CANNOT SAVE FILLED IN FILES normally. To be able to save them they must be specially prepared. This is called "Reader enabling". (In your original message, "rights to enable special features in Adobe Reader") To prepare a file Acrobat can be used, or a server product which has had many names but is currently LiveCycle Reader Extensions. If this is not done, the form cannot be saved, whatever its origin.
Now, a file may not be changed/damaged in even the slightest way after this preparation. This will produce the message seen.
So, your test seems to show
    - the original file is OK, undamaged
    - by the time the file is delivered from the database to the user it has been damaged/changed.
So, you now have a path to pursue through the software.
(To clarify: this only applies if you used Windows Explorer to save the file, NOT any save function in Reader; if you saved in Reader please repeat the test with Windows Explorer).

  • Color Changes when form field added

When I add a form filed to a pdf, the color changes on the output of the pdf.
Print out the attached pdf pages 1 and 3. Look at the green button. It is darker on the pages with the form field(p1) then on page 3. they are the same source file. It like when I add the form field, it changes the page to a CMYK color space and the images are in a RGC Color space.
    Any ideas

    Follow-up:
One of my colleagues is working on a product feature that involves checkboxes (this is how I came across this issue in the first place). His checkboxes aren't contained within a form element whereas in my test page I described in my question when I removed the form from the page the issue didn't manifest.
However, the page he's working on does contain other forms so I decided to modify my test page to try to replicate this scenario. I found some really odd behavior.
If I have a form on a page but the checkboxes are not children of that form, and if I dynamically add a single INPUT element or a single TEXTAREA input, the checked values just disappear on page refresh. That's expected since the lack of a parent form should eliminate the memory of the checkbox values, right?
Well, when I dynamically add '''both''' an INPUT element and a TEXTAREA element it goes right back to remembering '''and''' moving the checked value, but only by one step. By comparison, if the checkboxes and the dynamically added form fields are contained with a form the checked value will move by a number of steps equal to the number of dynamically added form fields.
Strange, strange behavior I can't really decode with certainty across the entire range of possible scenarios...

  • Can I port content from one pdf form to another, from within the form fields?

WE have been given a seasonal update to our pdf forms - with one new additional form field. Is there a way that I can port all the content from my ready filled form into this new one, without having to copy and paste each individual field?
    Thanks.

What is it that you want to do
    - you are the form filler; you want to keep the contents of a filled in form (and put them back into a changed form)?
    - you are the person responsible for adding/changing form fields; you want to keep the design and location of the form fields while changing the underlying PDF?
    - both of these?

  • CC 2014 Palette Form Fields Not Recognized with Dual Monitors

When I'm using a dual monitor setup, my second palette monitor (usually my MBP) can render palette form fields unclickable. For example, if I want to click into the form field to change the stroke size, my pointer clicks straight through to the finder as if the palette wasn't there. However, I'm still able to grab the top of the palette and move it to the main monitor. When I do this, the palette works fine, moving it back recreates the issue. This problem is intermittent, but has happened a handful of times in the last month.
So far I've experienced this with Illustrator CC and CC 2014 as well as Photoshop CC 2014.
My current setup is a 2013 2.6 GHz MBP with 10.9.4 and the most recent versions of CC and CC 2014.
    Any ideas?

  • PDF form text fields' options change when opened in READER on a MAC.

I created a PDF form using Adobe X PRO. All fields are UNCHECKED for Property/Options/ "scroll long text". I save and distribute the form as a "reader extended pdf/enable additional features" so it can be saved and returned using READER.
When a Mac user opens the extended form in Adobe READER, ALL the text fields change to scroll. When he returns the completed form to me, every text field, even signature and date fields, are changed to scroll text.
What is happening in the transition from PC to MAC?

Preview is the default PDF viewer on the Mac. It should never be used with PDF forms. Just let them know that they should use Adobe Reader. Provide a link or URL where it can be downloaded and let them know that it's free.
There are things you can do so that it doesn't work in Preview, but it involves some scripting. If interested in this approach, post again.

  • Changing text size in form field (rich text formatting enabled)

    Hi all,
I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I've created an interactive PDF with form fields with "Rich Text Formatting" enabled.
My client has filled in the fields and would like to make the text bigger. When right-click, there are only options to change the text style (bold, italics etc) but nothing to change the text size. I'm not keen on disabling and then re-enabling the "Rich Text Formatting" options as the text have been formatted (bold, italics, superscript, subscript etc) and approved, and this will remove all the existing formatting.
    Can anyone help?

    Thanks so much!! Really appreciated!
Strangely enough, I found the Form Field Text Properties dialogue box by randomly choosing "Hyperlink" in the right-click options. Who would have thought!

  • Safari 5.1.2 keeps changing text field randomly on text input

    Hello everybody.
Safari keeps changing the text field on input, do you know how to correct this issue?
    Here is an example:
Let's say I load www.google.com, it appears in the safari window as usual.
Suppose I begin to type a search in the google search field at the top right of the safari window (not the one on the google page)
if when doing this the sentence is long for the search, at some point randomly, the rest of the text will be entered this time in the google search text field on the google page! (which is the very next text field) So when I hit enter it makes google search half of my request...
Safari changed the text field I was into with no warning. I want to say I do not press tab at any moment.
This is annoying really, and this does not appear anywhere else than in Safari. It seems the issue is not systematic, but appears quite often.
I have no universal access setting except "enable access for assistive device"
I had to check this box upon installing a software in the past but I can't remember what it was.
Perhaps the problem I have is linked to some window refreshing?
Thank you for your suggestions or help

Try deleting the cache associated with Safari ...
    Quit Safari.
    Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db.
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
    Relaunch Safari to test.
I had to check this box upon installing a software in the past but I can't remember what it was.
Open System Preferences > Universal Access
Make sure the box next to:  Enable access for aassitive devices is deselected.

  • Acrobat 9.0 Changing Form Field Properties

When working with Form Fields in Acrobbat 9.0, how can I quickly and easily change a Text Field to a Check Box field without having to delete and then add in the new field?  I thought right-clicking would do the trick, but it doesn't give me the option to change from a Text field to a Check Box field or vice versa.

Cannot be done. Its like asking how to change a chicken into a duck, they are both fowl but...

  • Can a change be made to the original Word document without losing form fields in a saved PDF form?

I have a new fillable form created with Acrobat 9 that has 10 pages of fields on it. I noticed a typo in the original Word doc I created the form from and wondered if there is anyway to make changes in the source document without having to recreate all fields again.
    Thanks!
    Frank

Yes, just create a new PDF and replace the pages of the old one that has the form fields with the pages from the new: Document > Replace Pages
Any fields, code, bookmarks, links, etc. will be retained.

  • Actionscript & changing form field values

I am building a form using flash forms. I have a particular
field that by default the value is 0.00. I want to make an onchange
actionscript that will dynamically change the form field value to
0.00 if the end user deletes the value out of the field and leaves
    it blank.
Please be gentle...I know my actionscript'ing is poor (and
probably looks a wee bit more like JS than AS) LOL
    <cfsavecontent variable="zero_myfield>
    if (myfield.text == '') {
    myform.myfield.text == "0.00";
    </cfsavecontent>
    <cfinput type="text" name="myfield"
    onchange="zero_myfield">
I know you can manipulate the value of a form field easily
with javascript, but how to do the same thing with actionscript?
    Any pointers would be appreciated!
    Thanks!!

ROFL, I figured as much...like I said, my AS is *very*
    rudimentary right now heheh
I picked up an AS book yesterday evening to hopefully help me
out some, I know not all AS is available to use in ColdFusion flash
forms, but it will give me a good reference I hope.
I'll try my hand at the listener and see what I can come up
with. Thanks for the pointer!! :)
