Form is filled on iPad then emailed.  If form is opened with Adobe Reader all text is visible, but if opened with Acrobat XI no text is visible.

Form filled on ipad.  When opened with Adobe Reader all text is visible, but if opened with Acrobat XI no text is visible- form is blank.   Have been using this system for months with  no problems.

That suggestion makes sense and likely works, but only if the user is on a machine that will allow them to use Reader. I'm sending this out to a lot of teachers, who are using machines either at school, or are school-issued machines, and they don't have the admin privileges to install software-- even Reader.
so my problem is, if they are stuck on a machine without Reader, and without the possibility of having Reader... it's just not going to work because Preview can't handle these functions.
And, since that is not an acceptable answer with what I'm trying to do... I will find another way to create/submit forms. I think there are some online possibilities I will have to make work.
very, very disappointing and frustrating.

I have adobe reader and adobe photoshop elements 12. I need to fill out an Adobe form, save it and email. I have tried creating a text box but the formatting is horrible. I need help please.
    Thanks,
    Eunice

It's a fillable form. I have Adobe Reader version 11.0.07. I was trying to fill the form, save and email. It is a public form and here's the link to the form: http://booksamillioninc.com/public/Revised_w_Gift_Card_info_2014-Donation_Policy_Procedure _and_Request_Form.pdf
I am unable to click/ type in the fields.

  • Detect if fillable form is open in Acrobat (as opposed to Reader or web browser)

I have a fillable form that is Reader Extended (so it can be saved from Adobe Reader). After a user fills in the form, he clicks a submit button that sends a data stream to a servlet. The servlet embeds this data as XML in another version of the form, converts the form to be PDF/A compliant, and returns the new PDF/A form with embedded data. That all works fine when the fillable form was open in either Reader or a web browser. But if the user has the fillable form open in Acrobat when he clicks the submit button, the embedded data is stripped out of the PDF/A form that's returned by the servlet.
It's not a problem if the user fills in the data while the form is open in Acrobat, as long as he closes the form and opens it in Reader or a web browser before clicking the submit button.
Is there a way to detect if the fillable form is open in Acrobat (perhaps in the preSubmit event?) so I can display a message warning the user to save and close the form, and then open it in Reader or a web browser before clicking the submit button?

I added the following code to my submit button, but it gives me the same appType and host.name values for IE and Acrobat, so I can't tell them apart:
    var
    viewerType = xfa.host.appType;
    var
    viewerName = xfa.host.name;xfa.host.messageBox("Viewer is "
    + viewerType);xfa.host.messageBox("Host is "
    + viewerName);
    viewerType is Exchange-Pro
    viewerName is Acrobat

Nothing to do with the download; you need to open Adobe Reader once after the install is complete, and accept the EULA.

You cannot download programs from anywhere but the official App Store.
Flash is not available but Adobe does have a version of Adobe reader in the App Store-it is for reading PDFs.

  • Does Forms Central come with Acrobat XI Pro for Educators or must it be purchased separately?

    I keep getting conflicting messages.
Does Forms Central come with Acrobat XI Pro for Educators or must it be purchased separately?

FormsCentral is an online subscription service.
It is not a built-in feature of Acrobat XI.
With that said Acrobat XI Pro does have a built-in "link" to FormsCentral and this provides an Acrobat centric user interface.
The actual "real deal" is online (the "web" / "cloud" - whatever).
    For that you'd visit:
    https://www.acrobat.com/en_us/products/formscentral.html
    About the subscription:
"The FormsCentral 30 Day Opt-Out trial gives you the option to try the Basic plan features for USD $0.99.
Simply add to cart and enter a credit card to set up your account.
After you place your order you will have 30 days to use FormsCentral.
At the end of the 30 day trial period your card will automatically be charged the standard monthly subscription rate of $14.99 so that you can continue to create, distribute, and manage your online forms and surveys.
Subscriptions cancelled within the first 30 days will be refunded in full.
To change or cancel your subscriptions, visit the My Subscriptions page on Adobe.com."

  • HT1668 How do I create a new folder on my iPad & iPhone email mailboxes, when my provider is RCN?  All I have is Inbox, VIP, Sent, and Trash.

How do I create a new folder on my iPad & iPhone email mailboxes, using RCN as my Internet provider?

Actually, you can create additional mailboxes directly on the iPad. I have done it in 3 differemt IMAP accounts. But you do have to have IMAP email. However as stated above, this is not a function of the mail app.
If you had an IMAP email account, any additional mailboxes that you already had set up would have synced to the iPad and you would see them in your email account in the Mail app.
if you want to see for yourself..... If you go to your email account in the Mail app and look at the window where your inbox, trash folder and sent folder are - if there is an Edit button at the top of the window - tap that and then tap Add Mailbox at the bottom.
If the Edit button is not there - you cannot create folders on the iPad. Your email account is not IMAP.

  • Able to paste in form outside fields in Adobe Reader

I have created a Form in LiveCycle Designer 8, saved it and re-opened it in Acrobat Pro to enable usage rights in Reader and re-saved it.
When opened in Reader it can be filled in and saved. the problem I'm having is that the user filling in the form is able to paste text in the form outside the fields. How can I prevent this? I don't want the form to be editable in any way other than completing the fields and saving the filled form.
Also, I have validated the date fields in the form so that the Display, Edit, Validation and Data patterns are(MM-YY) which triggers a customised error message. When the User clicks ok to the error message the date field retains what was incorrectly entered - rather than clearing it for correction - and focus is no longer on the field in question.
Is there a way I can prevent the user being able to enter anything in the date field other than via the drop down calendar? Even if I can, this obviously requires the user to enter a day which is superfluous to requirements, but I have read that the calendar can't be switched off so I'm not sure how to get around this, other than offering an explanation to the user to select any day as long as it is the correct month and year.
    Any ideas?
I would really appreciate some help with these issues.

Thanks, I will do that.  Loking fwd to testing.
Curious, will Arcobat.com ever have a similar feature where users can Save a Copy when/if the doc is opened from Acrobat.com - much like Google Drive (as it's supposed to work)?
I know you mentioned putting in a request for Save a Copy...but hopefully we'll eventually have an option to not only Save a Copy but also specify the location (ie Dropbox, local Documents, location on SD card, Acrobat.com, etc. vs only being restricted to the source when the file was originally opened.  Or maybe just being able to pick a different folder than the source folder. I think either would be a great addition for both Android and iPad versions of Reader especially since many similar apps already allow you to do so.

  • Fillable Form Fields Created With Acrobat XI Pro on Mac Won't Save on PCs?

    Hi all,
Apologies if this has been covered already, but I've done a search of the forums that have turned up nothing.
Briefly, I have created a fillable form with Acrobat XI Pro on a Mac. The original file was created with InDesign CS6.
Once the fields were created in Acrobat, the file was saved as a Reader Extended PDF.
The problem is that Mac users are able to fill in the fields and save the PDF, while Windows users are not.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

You recommended answer seem to imply that the users are using Preview. When according the OP in that thread makes no mention on Mac except he created the form on Mac everyone else is using a PC. If anyone is using preview that answer would apply. If anyone filled out the form using Preview then follow the advice in the Link
I would say your using possibly the wrong Font or the wrong version of the font. If anyone has Acrobat on a PC open the form on a PC if the form fields appear as though nothing is there, then see if you can change the font used. Just try anything other than what is listed. See if the text appears.  If it does then you have a defective font or  the Mac and PC don't use the same version.
On Mac, if you have more than one version of a Font Style, say Aerial Italic for example, issues like this invisible text will happen. Macs don't tolerate more than one version of the same Font.  You can't have two versions of say Aerial Italic or Helvetica Bold or Courier Bold Italic. PCs you can have 50 copies of the same font and it don't matter. The applications just pick one if it happens to be different then That it.
In Reader or Acrobat you might set to use local Fonts that might clear up the issue On Mac go to Preferences and Page Display:
    Check use local Fonts.

  • Form save works in Adobe Reader 8 but not in Adobe Reader 9

We have an FDA form that customers fill out and save in Adobe Reader.  The form worked perfectly with Reader 8, but we are seeing the following Adobe Reader error with Reader 9:
"This document enables Reader capabilities that are no longer in this Reader version."
Also, in Reader 8, the purple bar at the top reads:
"Please fill out the following form. You can save data typed into this form."
However, in Reader 9, the purple bar reads:
"Please fill out the following form. You cannot save data typed into this form.
Please print the completed form if you would like a copy for your records."
The same PDF form was used for both readers.
Does anyone have any ideas?  Did Adobe really disable this capability in Reader 9?  Their website states you can save forms with Reader 9.

Adobe Reader 9 can't save the old FDA forms. FDA must update their forms.

  • Errors on saved form when designed with Acrobat 9 Pro

I have created a file with Acrobat 9 Pro with fields, check boxes, etc.... for customers to fill in, save, and e-mail/print .
I finally managed to get the form to be saved by any Adobe Acrobat Reader 8 (or above). But when they open their saved , filled-in form, the contents have changed! The boxes they have ticked are no longer ticked, but others are instead...

LiveCycle Designer is no longer distributed as part of the Acrobat release. I think it is available as a separate product. At this point, Acrobat provides the AcroForm type tools (kind of hard to get to, just as in some previous versions) and the option for Forms Central. The whole focus has changed. I suspect that others may be in the same situation of trying to get their forms to interact in Acrobat or Forms Central, but at this point I do not think there is any way to back Designer forms into either of the two current formats. Not much help, but a comment in any case.

  • Can I export the form I created in Adobe Reader?

can I export the form I developed in the Formscnetral in Adobe reader?

    Hi there
This is a question that is likely better suited for the forum supporting PDF reader. However, I seem to recall seeing something a year or four back that said this was a preference for each user. If that still holds true today, it would mean that you really have no control over it from the authoring end and machine A might open it and see it in the reader as you want, while machine B might open it and see it in the browser.
Hopefully others will share more light on this. Until then, I'd recommend using Google to search for opening PDFs from browser links.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Adobe Acrobat 7.0 form cant sign in Adobe Reader

Hi, I'm using Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.0 and I am having trouble creating forms with signature fields that can be signed and saved with Adobe Reader. How can i allow Adobe Reader to sign the fields as well as use the typewrite tool

    Hi ,
You will not be able to accomplish this because Acrobat 7 does not provide the functionality to allow users with Reader to be able to sign the documents.

  • Reader Extended forms are broken in Adobe Reader XI

We use Livecycle Server 11.0 to enable saving of forms data in our forms. We are receiveing complaints from people using Reader XI that if they reopen a form they are working on, they get the following message. "This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and use of extended features is no loner available".
Is this a known bug with Redaer XI. We have a lot of Licecycle licences and cannot guarantee that users will not use Reader XI.

is the problem specific to Reader 11 ? not experienced on reader 10 ?
you could compare the settings of a working Reader 10.x with Reader 11.x where it throws the exception.
Also ensure that while creating form in designer > File > Form properties> Default PDF render format is set as: Dynamic XML Form.

  • Print form fields ONLY in Adobe Reader XI.

I created a form in LiveCycle for use by an admin (who only has Adobe Reader, not Acrobat) to print checks. I want to print form fields ONLY.
Is there a way to do this?
    HELP!

Best to ask in the Acrobat Forum. I'm pretty sure it's a parameter set up when the form is created. Reader only interprets data based on the saved settings.
