Format Copy

Many WYSIWYG editors (Word, Frontpage for example) allow you
to easily copy and paste formatting from one selection to a second
selection ==> select text, click on 'format copy' icon, select
new text .... bang! format of 1st selection applied to second
selection
Does Dreamweaver provide something like this?

> No. In HTML you don't format text that way, at least not
anymore. Using CSS
> you have to identify and tag a container (p, div, span,
etc.) and then apply
> a class or ID
okay, a light came on and i understand the question.
In dreamweaver, if the styling is done with CSS, you would
click into the
text that has the formatting you like, look in the CSS panel
to see what
styles are applied to it.
then select the other text, right-click on it and pick the
CSS style name
you want.

  • Import Format: Copy source account into UD1

The Source G/L Account is used for both the HFM Account and HFM UD1 (Custom1). The mapping for FM Accounts and FM UD1 is set-up based on the GL Accounts. UD1 is not included in the GL extract file.
How can I easy copy source Account into UD1 through the import format that can be used for several locations with different import formats?
    Example:
    GL Account: 1000 -> HFM account: 1000 > HFM UD1: FinS
    GL Account: 3000 -> HFM account: ctrl_Logic -> HFM UD1: Stat
Currently I use for UD1 a script like DW.Utilities.fParseString(strRecord,4,2) to do that and it works. Unfortuntely I have at least many different locations with different import formats that would require this script to be adjusted for each import format.
Any idea? Thanks for your help!

    Good day
To get this working for different import format layouts you need to make use of the Res.PVarTemp1,,5 FDM variables, you can store information between different fields in the import fields. There are also workarounds if you need to store more than 5 values.
So you need to create two scripts, the TempPut is attached to the account import field and the TempGet is attached to the UD1 import field
    Function TempPut(strField, strRecord)
    Res.PvarTemp1 = strfield
    TempPut = strfield
    End Function
    Function TempGet(strField, strRecord)
    TempGet= Res.PVarTemp1
    End Function
    Hope this helps

  • Moving TM to new drive- will old drive format copy to new drive?

    Hello,
I'm moving my TM backup to a new (larger) drive using Disc Utility. I've read the posts and know what to do, BUT... if I click "erase" and do a "restore" to move the data, will this make the new drive have the same format as the old drive? I tried a restore without clicking erase, and the operation failed.
Old drive: APM; Mac OS Extended (journaled)
New drive: GUID; Mac OS Extended (journaled)
I'd like to keep the new drive GUID if possible.

    Steven Shmerler wrote:

Could someone explain how this pertains to setting up a new drive for us Mac users using Intel Macs as referenced in this thread?
Does it pertain to the hard drive name we choose or a setting in Disk Utility that I overlooked?
You didn't look far enough. It's also, as posted, the name of the *Partition Map Scheme* used by OSX for Intel Mac internal HDs, and preferred for external HDs attached to an Intel Mac.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GUIDPartitionTable
Most drives formatted by or for Windoze use the MBR scheme (Master Boot Record). That's why most problems with new drives as destination for Time Machine backups fail; they must use the GUID *Partition Map Scheme.* See the instructions in item #5 of the Frequently Asked Questions *User Tip* at the top of this forum.

  • How to inserted cells and keep formatting, copy formulas.

Hi- I used to use Excel in the late 90's and am using Appleworks 6.2.9. Here are my problems that I cannot solve:
I have an invoice with borders and SUM formulas. How do I insert new cells while maintaining both?
With Excel I could click on a cell with a SUM formula, then drag down a few rows and release, which would copy the formulas into those cells. I cannot find a way to do this simply.
Any light you can shed would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to save money on programs and use what I have.
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Great, thanks, that helped w/ the autofill.
I still need advice on inserting cells that have the same borders and would be entered into the total columns in my invoice. The idea would be to be able to add rows, drop the data down, and not have to reformat any of the SUM cells or borders.
    Thanks!

  • Best format copy VHS movies.

I am currently trying to copy all my old VHS movies onto my hard drive so I can get rid of the tapes.
I have figured out how to connect my old VCR to my computer. I have figured out how to capture the movie into FCE. Now when I save the file using the default quicktime settings the file is 4 gig! What would be a better way to export this so that I can stay under 1 gig per movie?
    thanks

Here is my desired sequence of operation.
    1. Remove VHS copy of Matrix from shelf.
    2. Capture Matrix into FCE.
    3. Export Matrix to a file under 1 Gig that still has reasonable quality.
    4. Copy exported Matrix to my super huge media hard drive.
    5. Give VHS copy of Matrix to Goodwill.
    6. Repeat above steps with Gladiator, Ronin, Pulp Fiction, Blade Runner. etc...
    7. When video storage shelf is empty, give it to Goodwill.
    8. 5 months from now, get steak, watch Matrix from my hard drive.
I see there are devices that come with software that allow you to do this operation. But I would have to pay for them, and I already own all the equipment to capture the VHS into FCE. The reason I don't want real DVD's is I then have to store them in a physical location which defeats the exercise of removing stuff from my extremely small apartment.
So is there a way to take a 90 minute DV file, export it using quicktime conversion, and end up with a file of reasonable quality under 1 gig.
For reference I do not have a high def tv... in fact I am giving my old 21" tube tv to Goodwill as well. I dont watch TV I am not spoiled by extremely sharp movies. Chances are I will be drinking some whisky while watch the movies so if it is not super amazing quality I really dont care.
    thanks

  • Copying multiple rows of different formatting

My table is a Cue Sheet for a theater production. I have 3 rows of various information that together describe everything for just 1 Cue. So these 3 rows of differently formatted information is all for just one "Cue row". So in essence, these 3 rows are sort of acting as 1 large row.
I need these three rows for each new cue that I add into the spreadsheet, so I will be copying these 3 rows, or 1 "cue row", over and over again for each new Cue I add. But the problem I'm having is that when I go to copy and paste the previous 3 rows (or the last "Cue Row") to create a new Cue, not all of the formatting copies. It looks like only 1 row's formatting copies.
So, is there any way to treat multiple rows as if they were just 1 row? Or in other words, how can you copy & paste multiple rows of various formatting?
I'd like this because I need the ability to add new "Cue rows" quickly without having to reformat every time I copy or duplicate. Any help or suggestions you have would be great. Thanks!

Please let us know what works for you after you give it a try. Your original question said nothing about borders. Borders will Copy, but they will only Paste as a new table, not as an insertion or addition, at least not in my experience.
    My experience is different.
Assuming that cell B2 has a full 4 edges border whose thickness is 3 points and color red
that cell C2 has only the top border set to 3 points, color Blue.
If I select both, apply Copy Style then Paste Style in cell D4, I get the full borders in D4 and nothing in E4.
If I select only cell C2, Copy Style, Paste Style in G4, I get a full red border in G4
If I define cell B5 with a top border of 4 points Blue, when I apply Copy Style then Paste Style to G6, I get a full blue border in G6.
There is at least some inconsistencies between the behavior and what is written in the User Guide.
In this useful resource, we may read :
select the table or cells whose effects you want to reuse, choose Format > Copy Style,
select the table or cells you want to format, and then choose Format > Paste Style.
This is true, only if the cells from which we copied style (no s here) wore the same style.
It's not absurd as the items aren't named Copy Style(s), Paste Style(s)
    but Copy Style, Paste Style.
What is written means that we may select several cells with the same effects (yes, one cell may wear several effects). Copy Style will copy these effects so that Paste Style will apply them to every selected target cells.
Its not clear for all of us and, as I described before, the result may be different than the described one.
So, my own way of use is to select a single cell, Copy its Style,
select the target range then apply Paste Style.
And even with this scheme, the result may be 'surprising'.
A funny example before sending this message.
To achieve that, I defined the cell E4 with a full 2 points blue border.
Then I copied its style and paste it to the range E4…E33
At first I tried to define only the top border assuming that I will get full borders as I get when pasting style to a single cell but, nada, I got nothing.
Then I defined a single red top border to H6 but Pasting its style to range D4…D33 didn't give red borders but remove the vertical left border of cells E4…E33.
So I defined a full red border to H6 and Pasted this Style to D4…D33 and to F4…F33
I tried to define green top and bottom borders to H10 and Paste this Style to the range E4…E33.
Of course, I didn't got green horizontal borders.
The four edges of these cells were cleared and reset to the original thin grey ones.
    Bizarre, vous avez dit bizarre
    Have fun with borders

  • Copy and paste formats only

I have just downloaded IWork to evaluate and am stumped at the first hurdle. I just want to copy a cells format (not its contents)and paste it into another cell (format painter in Excel). Can anyone help?

What we have is descripted in the PDF User Guide in page 79 (in the English version)
    +*Copying and Pasting Table Styles*+
+You can change a table’s appearance by copying and pasting table and table cell styles.+
+Here are ways to copy and paste table styles:+
+• To copy a cell’s style, select the cell and choose Format > Copy Style.+
+• To apply a copied cell style to other cells, select the cells and choose Format > Paste+
    Style.
+• To paste a copied table using the spreadsheet’s default table style, choose Edit > Paste and Match Style.+
You may also install the buttons "Copy Style" and "Paste Style" in the toolbar.
As I doesn't allow µSoft products to enter my home, I don't know if this duplicate "format painter".

  • In a pages document can I copy a ruler and apply it to text elsewhere in the document

While working in a pages document can I copy a ruler and apply it to text elsewhere in the document?  I'm using Pages '09, Version 4.1 (923), on a MacBookPro with OS X, version 10.6.8.  I've tried pages help, but I haven't found an answer to this question.

click in the text you wish to copy from > Menu > Format > Copy Paragraph style > click in the text you wish to copy to > Paste Paragraph Style
The keyboard shortcuts are option command c and option command v
You can also Copy/Paste Character Styles.
Better to create real Styles in the Styles Drawer. Using the above method is slower and will lead to inconsistent styles that you can not universally correct or change.

  • Copy and paste styles between objects and entire slides

    Hi,
In Keynote 5 I was able to copy and paste styles between objects and even between entire slides.
cmd+alt+c on one object (like a circle) and all its details like shadows, colors and animations could be transferred to another object.
One could even do it with entire slides and transfer one animation style to all the other slides.
    THAT DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE.
Does anybody else miss these features?
    Or is it just me?

    object animations tools are:
copy animation:   Format > Copy Animation
paste animation   Format > Paste Animation
there are no keyboard short commands for these.
There are no tools to copy or paste transitions between slides, you could duplicate the slide then add the content.

  • Change date format in PO form

    Hi,
Currently, the delivery date printed in PO form is in the format of mm/dd/yyyy.
If I will change the month format into text, say for example, FEB-07-2011, how can I make this happen?
Is there any other way to accomodate this other than change the print program/form?
    Thanks!
    Best Regards,
    Armie

    Hi,
Date format copy from setting which you have done in  t.code: SU3 or SU01 in Date Format in Default tab,If you want you can change it according to your requirement.
Or as you need check your SMARTFORMS which assigned to your PO message type ( NACE) with which you print PO and see possible conversion as required by you with your ABAPer.

  • Fillable forms question - FrameMaker to PDF - Without losing copy protection options

    Hello,
I'm looking for a solution that will allow us to integrate fields in a Chapter Review-style question area where users can comment their answers (instead of using StickyNotes). It must disallow printing/copying etc to meet content protection requirements. I've dug through all of my options and can't seem to find any viable method without allowing the "Edit Content" option which allows users to copy the content.
We're currently using FrameMaker 9 but will be jumping to TCS5 soon.
As an example, we would want something like the following question, which exists in a FrameMaker document, to be commented on:
    2. Which DID/DNIS mapping is recommended for mapping a single extension?
Thank you in advance for any assistance with this.

    > It must disallow printing/copying etc to meet content protection requirements.
ebook format copy protection is largely an illusion. Leaving aside the availability of euphemistically named "password recovery" software, the widespread availability of low-cost (often bundled free) OCR software means: If you can see it, you can recover the text, unless it's heavily CAPTCHA'd.
Even if the user is blocked from reading the computer's frame buffer (i.e., prevented from using the PrintScreen key on Windows), most cell phones now have cameras with more than sufficient resolution for full text recovery. Some users even know how to turn off the flash .
If the supposedly eyes-only document is available on the web, I would not be the least bit surprised to learn that one or more search engines has already OCR'd and indexed every word in it (you can be sure that the NSA's has).
Managers asking for copy protection need to realize that they are making the authoring task much harder for little benefit, and often creating pointless annoyance for end users. Copy protection might briefly deter casual copiers, but is no obstacle at all to anyone the least bit tech savvy.
If copy prevention really matters, each copy of the document needs to be computer-generated for the specific licensed end user, with user-customized, easily traced content.
All that aside, and assuming management can't be dissuaded on the copy protection issue, does TimeSavers support insertion of form fields while preserving security settings?

  • Copy Paragraph Style doesn't do its job all the time.

If I have a paragraph style in pink, I will select that text, copy paragraph style and paste it onto another selection of text, turning it pink also.
Usually, if I past the style onto a selection of text in the MIDDLE of a sentence, it will turn the whole sentence pink.
Lately, pasting paragraph style DOES NOT paste what I copied (e.g. turning the sentence to pink italics or even to blue, something which I used in another document at another time).
Also, for about 30 minutes in ONE day, pasting paragraph style into the MIDDLE of a sentence only turned my selection pink, which was something I liked. Then as soon as this function came, it disappeared.
    Please help!

The button for Copy style or paste style is not working. So I tested it using a numbered list with paragraphs.
    First:
I went to text I wanted to match to others, used the menu bar and drop-down lists for "Format" / "copy character style".  Then I went to the other ordered list and selected the new text and used the drop-down list "format" / "paste character style" and it worked... Matched font, size, color etc.
    Second:
I repeated the above steps but instead of using the drop-down lists on the menu bar, I used the button on the tool bar called "Copy Style" and "Paste Style".  Note: in the past using these buttons has worked, I have used them all the time, but for some reason, it is now not working.
So when I did the same thing, hit "copy style" button I checked the drop-down list to see if "copy character style" was not greyed out and it wasn't. I then selected the new text to change, and hit "paste style" the button.  Nothing happened but it changed the ordered list level (which did not match the original text level) So I checked the drop-down menu to see if I could even hit "paste character style" and sure enough, it was not even an option, it only had "paste paragraph style".  Even though prior, when using the drop-down menu for "copy character style" the option for "paste character style" was available... So something is wrong with the buttons for the "copy style" and "paste style".... They worked in the past, and now they are not...  it was just a lot easier to use the buttons versus having to navigate though drop-down menus.

  • Can one 'copy' Shadow\Stroke settings from one graphic to another?

I'm always juggling hundreds of stills. I'd love to be able to just copy the Shadow settings from one still to another. Or to be able to 'lock' the setting so that they are all they same when applied to a set of stills.
    Is something possible here?

    Yes:
    - select your shape you want to use as a "style model"
    - <pre>Format > Copy Graphic Style</pre>
    - select all the shapes you want to apply the same graphical style to
    - <pre>Format > Paste Graphic Style</pre>
You can also adopt it as a default graphical style forever:
    - select your shape you want to use as a "style model"
    - <pre>Format > Advanced > Define Default Shape Style</pre>

  • Copying Text Between Illustrator Files

    Hello,
I am creating a new document layout in Illustrator CC based on content from an existing document.  I need to paste text from the original document into the new document and reformat it into the style of the new doc.  Is there a way that I can copy the text from the original and have it paste into the new file with the formatting of the new text?
For example, I copy 10 pt Arial text from the original doc.  Go to the new doc, highlight the existing text which is 12 pt Myriad Pro, paste and automatically have the new text paste as 12 pt Myriad Pro.  For now, I have to copy the text, paste it in Notepad to remove the existing formatting, copy it again and then paste in into the new file.
I tried searching this, but could not come up with any answers.  I'd appreciate any help you can give.  Thank you.

It's not clear how you've assemblked this animation, but if it is already a symbol in your library you can copy the symbol from one file to the other.  If it is not a symbol and is just an animation along the main timeline, you can create a symbol of it by copying the frames into an empty movieclip.  Even if it involves multiple frames and layers it is a fairly quick task to complete... Select the frames involes -> right click the selection and select Copy Frames -> create a new moviewclip symbol -> select the only keyframe in that new symbol and right click it -> select Paste Frames.  You can now take that symbol and copy/paste it into the library of the other file.

  • Cond. format/how to automagically highlight LOWEST number in a set?

    greetings.
i have a spreadsheet which collects and summarizes the results of a very complex bid procedure with many individual positions.
in order to help us make a decision on which bid to accept, i'd like to have numbers highlight the lowest bid out a of a large series and just make that one on a blue fill, and then the highest bid and make it have a red fill.
is this possible_? if so, how do i do it. in conditional formatting there doesnt seem to be an option for that...

    thinkbuild wrote:
It is also useful to have the min/max (and average) numbers for each position as well for quick analysis.
    HOWEVER -
I am having problems with "copy/paste style" in Numbers (iWork '09, v2.0.3) - as follows:
    (1) When using Copy/Paste Style, the usual relative or absolute locations are not copied as they would be when working with the normal contents of the cell.
For example, if as you suggest, I put a conditional format like this in a cell, say :
"if equal to M4, then Blue,"
when I then *_Copy Style_* (Format>Copy Style) and then *_Paste Style_* to the another ROW (say 5), it simply puts
"if equal to M4, then Blue,"
    *and not*
    +"if equal to M5, then Blue,"+
Which means I have to go into to each cell once again to get it to assign the conditions based on the lowest or highest value for that particular row (postion). This really slows me down as you can imagine.
As Jerry answered in the second thread, ALL conditional format rules refer to an absolute cell location (M4 in your case). The only way to change the location of the referral cell is to edit it.
BUT that does not mean you have to edit the rule for each individual cell in your table.
As I read your description, you have a table containing of a row of bids on item one, followed by a row of bids on item two, followed by a row of bids on item three, etc. You wish to find the minimum and maximum bid on item 1, the min and max bid on item 2, the min and max bid on item 3, etc.
You have no interest in finding (only) the ultimate minimum bid on any item and the ultimate maximum bid on any item (which, unless one or more bidders really does not understand the process, will be on a different item!).
In the context of the table, you want to mark both the minimum and maximum is each row, not just the minimum and maximum in the full table.
    Here's how:
Data for the first item is in B2:L2
Data for the next item is in B3:L3
Data for the last item is in B20:L20
Max for each row is in column M
M2: =MAX(B2:L2)    --drag handle to fill down to M20
Min for each row is in column N
N2: =MIN(B2:L2) --drag handle to fill down to N20
    Select B2:L20
Open the Inspector, choose Cell Format, Click Show Rules...
Set the rule as "Equal to", Click the cell assignment button at the right end of the box, click cell M2
Click Edit, then the Fill box to show the color palette.
    Click the red you want.
Click Done to finish editing that rule. (The button's label will change to "Edit")
Click Plus to add a second rule.
Use the same steps as above to set this rule to "Equal to N2" and to set the fill colour to green.
Click Done to finish editing the second rule. (The button's label will change to "Edit")
You now have every cell in the data set to fill with red if its value is equal to the maximum value in Row 2 or green if its value is equal to the minimum value in Row 2. Not yet exactly what you want (except for B2:L2).
    Continues below.
    Also:
    (2) I find it is annoying that there is no green "accept" checkmark in the conditional formatting box. This makes it difficult to quickly edit the location upon which the condition is set and then easily get "out" of the cell for working on the next task. Or am I missing something here too?
While there is no green checkmark, there is a clear indication that you have set the conditions and are ready to move on.
For each rule, you may toggle at will between the Edit state and the Done state, using the button below that rule.
When you are "Done" with a rule, the line below the rule will show only the "Sample" of the cell's appearance when the rule's conditions are met and the Edit button.
Clicking the Edit button adds color wells for the Text and Fill of the cell and Bold, Italic, Underline and Strikethrough buttons to apply to the text in the cell, and changes the button's label to "Done". Clicking the Done button saves the rule, removes the editing tools from the display for this rule, and changes the button's label back to "Edit".
IF you are DONE, all rules will show only the rule, the sample box and the Edit button. If any of the rules show a Done button, you are not yet DONE.
Just as you set up the rules (above) for many cells, you can apply edits to sets of cells rather than to single cells. The restriction is that the same rule will apply to all of the edited cells. In your document, each row of data cells is a separate set.
The rules set above are correct for Row 2.
Before deselecting, check that both rules refer to the correct cell (M2 for Max, N2 for Min) and the correct colour, and that you have clicked the Done button for both buttons (ie. both offer the choice to Edit).
The Cell Format inspector should remain open, with the Conditional Format window showing.
For each row (where n represents the number of that row):
    Select cells Bn:Ln
Click the cell reference (M2) in the first rule.
Type Mn (lower case m is OK, n is the number of the selected row)
    Press return
Click the cell reference (N2) in the second rule.
Type Nn (lower case n is OK, second n is the number of the selected row)
    Press return
Check that each rule's button says "Edit", and that the cell references are both to the correct row.
Select the next row and repeat.
When done the last row, close the Conditional Formatting window and the Inspector.
    Regards,
    Barry
