Formula Columns are not working in Reports 10g

Hi,
We converted the reports developed in Reports 6i to Reports 10g. When we run the report in Reports 10g Builder everything works fine. But when we deploy the same report in Oracle Application Server and invoking the report the formula columns are not working ie., the fields/ placeholder columns which are based on the formula column are not displaying any values in the report.
Please, someone help us in this regard.
Thanks & Rgds,
M T

What version of Reports do you use..???

Hi Gurus,
We are recently upgraded Oracle Discovere 10g from 4.1, some calculations are not working in Discoverer 10g. I appreciate if you could fix below calculation(s) in 10g.
CASE WHEN TRUNC("Expenditure Item Month") = '31-JAN2007' THEN SUM(Wtd Qty A) WHEN TRUNC("Expenditure Item Month") = '28-FEB-2007' THEN SUM(Wtd Qty A) WHEN TRUNC("Expenditure Item Month") = '31-MAR-2007' THEN SUM(Wtd Qty A) END
Thanks & Regards

Sabra,
Not sure exactly what this might be... there could be an issue there.
Please make sure that you review the upgrade.log. Are there any errors / warnings?
Also, you might wanna peek the Metalink Note:262623.1 - Master Note for OracleAS Portal Upgrade Issues, where you'll find some nice things where to start looking at.
Later you may wanna open a Service Request into the Oracle Support.
I hope it helps...
Cheers,

• Image_Item not working in Reports 10g

we can't use ImageItems in our report.
we had a table with some images in a column with Datatype Longraw. Because we can't use that with Forms/reports 10g, we cahnged the Table-Column to Blob and migrated the Data with Import/Export. Within Forms we don't have any problem, we can display the old migrated pictures, we can import new images with Webutils Client_Image.Read_Image_Item and we can display those new images as well.
But now we have a problem with Reports. Our Report has an item (the new Blob_Column) in the query and that item is displayed within the report. If the Report is run for a record with a migrated Image, it works fine, but with a new Record and a new imported Image_Item, the Report fails (on the Server) with the following information in EM :
Mit Fehler beendet: REP-69: Interner Fehler REP-62203: Interner Fehler beim Lesen des Bildes - Unable to render RenderedOp for this operation..
it is a very small Report but with 2 images (both are small).
Any ideas out there ?
regards,
Mark

Found the solution by myself.
The Problem isn't within Reports it is within Forms. The Image_Item has to set to FileType "BMP" instead of "JFIF".
That solved the problem.

Though these functions are well written in reports help,it is not at all supporting these functions.
What is solution for this for successfull compilation of reports??

Your not seeing the built in package for some reason.
Maybe they are missing on your Linux machine.
Reinstall reports there? Examing your environment variables?
Is that rwrun.jar anywhere?

• Formula Functions are not working for Input Ready Key Figure

Hi all,
I have created an Input Ready report in BI IP, which is containg number of Characteristics / Key Fig. / Formula Functions.
Here, when I am executing this report, it is throwing below message only for formula functions I am using in the report (where Qty is INPUT READY). Since, by-default formula functions always remain "Not Input Ready"
"WARNING BRAIN (160): Total Importl / APR
Qty cannot be input ready. It is formula element.".
Best Regards,
Jatin

Thank you for your kind reply.
Actually, the issue I am facing here is with formula functions (NOT INPUT READY) which I am using in the report is colliding with Qty (INPUT READY) and throwing error during execution (Not giving me even variable screen).
And also, when I try to change an existing report. It opens in Display mode only.
Please help!

• Nvarchar Columns are not imported into OWB 10g

Hi Team,
I am quite new to Oracle BI(Just 2 weeks old) environment. I have completly gone through oralce wharehouse builder user's guide.
I am trying to setup a datamart in which data will be pulled from MS SQL server 2008.
Here is my Problem
1. Setup location for SQL Database through ODBC Connection - Success
2. Setup Location for Data wharehouse under Oracle - Success.
Now I am trying to pull the meta data of a source table from SQL Database
I have used MY_Project-->databases-->non Oracle -->ODBC-->SQL_Module-->Tables and Import wizard. I can browse the tables after selecting the table its completing succesfully.
However the import wizard doesn't imports nvarchar() columns from the source table. Just importing numbers & date dat type.
Any one can help me out.

Thank you very much for the quick reply!
So, if cloning the database (export/import) isn't a good way to go, then based on what I read from the link you provided, I think my course of action would be:
1. Create the new Oracle database. (different name so that there are no issues or confusion between the two)
2. Create new repositories on new database.
3. Have developers export out their metadata from existing repositories.
4. Import metadata to new repositores.
OR
1. Create the new Oracle database. (different name so that there are no issues or confusion between the two)
2. Export existing repositories metadata.
3. Drop existing repository.
4. Create new repository (same name as what was exported and dropped)
5. Import metadata into newly created repository.
I don't think new repository names are an issue for my developers, but I don't know if that will cause any other issues.
Please let me know if either of these scenarios are viable.
Thanks!

• Issue is TEXT_IO application API is not working in report builder 10g.

Issue is TEXT_IO application API is not working in report builder 10g.
TEXT_IO application api is working in report builder 6i. (Not working in upgrade from Oracle EBiz 11i to Oracle Ebiz R12)
I saw that details in some forums, client_text_io is available for form builder 10g.
Is any other api available for report builder 10g?
If it is available what steps we need to do?

All the CLIENT_% procedures are part of webutil in Forms. Forms uses the Java applet on the client PC to perform actions on the local PC via webutil. This is not possible for Reports.
You can still use text_io on the server, but you need some other way to copy the files to/from the client PC.
I wonder how you used the functionality in EBS R11. Even R11 uses web reports, so text_io already worked on the server, not the client PC.

• CSS Style (report column attributes) not working

I found the CSS Style settings for a report column only seem to work if using a "Standard Report Column". Since the report is wider than the screen, some columns are wrapping, making the report not-that-nice readable.
Unfortunately I have the need to define some report columns where undesired wrapping occurs as "Display as Text (based on LOV, does not save state)" and tried to avoid wrapping using "white-space:nowrap;" or specifying a fixed width, but it seems I'm out of luck - is there a way around this (other than performing the report query using a huge DECODE clause and setting the column to "Standard Report Column" again, which somewhat renders the LOV useless except for the select list on the data entry form)? This is happening on APEX 3.12.
Furthermore - is this expected behaviour?
Thanks in advance,
Holger

Furthermore - is this expected behaviour?Looks like it, or it is a [long-standing bug|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=1126613]. I've tried it (although only have access to APEX 3.0 at present) and none of the CSS class/style/custom attributes from Column Formatting or Tabular Form Element are being applied. If it's not a bug then it should be raised as an enhancement request.
In the meantime you'll need to work round it.
other than performing the report query using a huge DECODE clause Is that necessary due to a static LOV? If it's dynamic based on a table/view then get the look-up value in the query via a join or scalar subquery so you have a Standard Report Column and can use the CSS class/style/custom attributes from Column Formatting.
Alternatively, stick with the Display as Text from LOV and create a custom named column report template using [colgroup/col|http://reference.sitepoint.com/html/colgroup] to specify fixed width columns.

• BW Field level Autorizations are not working in the WEBI Reports

Dear All,
1. I have created Authorization roles with Infoobjects Authorization Objects.
2. In Bex Query Authoizations are working on the Infoobjects like for
Ex: For USER1 I have given Company code = 1000 &
User 2 I have given authorization for 1100.....
3. Import those roles into Business Objects-CMC.
4.Users were Imported.
But in the WEBI Reports BW Field level Authorizations are not working i.e for USER1 authorization for Company code is 1000 , in WEBI report it is showing all the Company codes data for USER1.
For USER2 also showing all the data in the WEBI report.
Plz help me on this issue.
Thanks,
Kiran Manyam

Hi,
For Authorization to work in BO you can check the following:
1. You need to create authorization variables in your BEx query.
Also these variables should not be input ready.
2. While creating universe in BO you need to select "Single Sign On" option available in the parameters iwhile creating a new
        connection.

Rohit

• Few values of report column do not display in report while applying filter

Post Author: anuragg11
CA Forum: WebIntelligence Reporting
There are 6 drill filters applied on the report to filter out the report column data. Few values of the report are not displaying in the report when using drill filter. Same issue is with report filter too. If filters are removed then values are appearing in the report. We are using version BO XI R2 & Java runtime JRE 1.4v. It doesn't look issue is with Java version because only few specific data of the report column are not shown in the report when using filter on the data. Example: One of Report data column contains below values: 24.2, 26.9, 120.1, 230, 274.9, 275.8, 333.2 Report is displaying all these values when there is no filter on any data. But report doesn't display data when applying filter on 274.9 or 120.1 howver filter on other values 24.2, 26.9, 230, 275.8, 333.2 are working fine.

Hello,
I think i know what your problem is.
Although in table view your 2 requests combine perfectly and show separate results in pivot view BI unfortunaterly adds them up.
One work around would be to go in your criteria add in each request a dummy column. This can be obtained the following way:
1. click on a column to add it in the criteria (it doesnt matter which one)
2. go into the edit formula of that column
3. delete the formula and in its place write 'Dummy Column 1'
Do the same for the second request by adding a "Dummy Column 2'
Now the Pivot Table should also show up correctly
Let me know if it goes well or if you have any further questions,

• Q_1 - Q_2 DataLink. Q_2 columns are not apperaing in Generate to file - XML

Dear experts i have developed a report in 6i against Oracle Applications 11i, Purchasing Module ...... I have two Queries in DataModel Q_1<->Q_2 with DataLink. The only problem is Q_2 columns are not appearing in Generate to file -> XML.
I developed similar style report against scott/tiger tables and Q_2 columns are appearing in XML. their are no wrong settings like "Exclude from XML output"
Generate to file -> delimited, html, pdf etc are working OK for both APPS and Scott RDFs.
Does this have something to do with what is mentioned here (though for 10g, point 17.1.4) ...

QUOTE
17.1.4 Limitation on Linked Queries for DelimitedData Output
DelimitedData output does not allow multiple queries to be linked to the main query, because sibling groups are not supported.
For example:
Case 1: You have a link between Q1 and Q2, a link between Q2 and Q3, and a standalone Q4
query.
Q1<-->Q2<-->Q3 Q4
In this case, DelimitedData output is generated correctly.
Case 2: You have a link between Q1 and Q2, a link between Q2 and Q3, and a link between Q4 and Q1.
Q1<-->Q2<-->Q3 Q1<-->Q4
In this case, DelimitedData output is not generated correctly. Alternatively, you can use XML output.
Thank you

Hi,
no, the mentioned delimited text restrictions do not apply to XML-output...
Hm, try to take your report and use the wizard to generate a paper layout to see if the data is really "appearing" due to your data model.
Maybe there is some problem in the data link... e.g. number to character conversion in the datatypes that causes the problem...

• Column Highlighting Not Working in Chrome or Firefox but works in IE

Version  4.1.1.00.23
Hello,
I have a classic report that I'm trying to apply dynamic column highlighting on.
I'm following the discussion from Jari https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2209261
The columns to be highlighted are being determined from a table that gets set every month and the value are being selected in the report query.
The javascript that is in the Region Footer is:
<script type="text/javascript">
        $(function()
            $('##REGION_ID# input[name="f01"]').each(function(i)

</script>
The highlighting works in Internet Explorer, but the same columns are not being highlighted in Chrome or Firefox and there are no errors being reported in either browser.
Can someone help me with this?
Is there additional information I can provide that I haven't.
Thanks,
Joe

Hi Fac,
This is a classic report. After debugging all 3 browsers I finally found the issue.  First, my javascript isn't very good.
When I looked at the source of the page, I saw that 'F01' contained the value to determine which month's columns to highlight.
I then thought that if I evaluated the contents of 'F01', using $x('f01').value, that I could set my variables in my if statements.
During my debugging of the javascript in each of the browsers I came upon the 'this' object being displayed in the watch window. When I expanded the node to view the contents I saw that it also contained the value of the month to highlight as well.
I have since changed my 'if' statement to if ($x(this).value == <month number> and the hightlighting is working in all 3 browsers correctly.
Is this still not the right approach as Jari discusses in his post I referenced above?
Thanks,
Joe
