Formula to decide no.of process....

Hi All,
I am using ORACLE 11gR2. When I see the default value of processes and sessions is 150 and 247 respectively.
I want to know that is there any formula to decide the how many processes required like processes=1.1*session+5 etc.? And what is the optimal way to set both parameter.
In 10g I know that process and sessions having 50 number gap. But in 11g is more than this...
so Just for curiosity I want know if there is any formula to decide this.

Login as sysdba
sqlplus "/as sysdba"
or
sqlplus '/as sysdba'
sql> show parameter sessions
sql> show parameter processes
sql> show parameter transactions
And if you are increasing sessions parameter you should consider increasing processes and transactions parameter as well.
Here is the formula you can use to determine their values.
processes=x
sessions=x*1.1+5
transactions=sessions*1.1
E.g.
processes=500
sessions=555
transactions=610
sql> alter system set processes=500 scope=both sid='*';
sql> alter system set sessions=555 scope=both sid='*';
sql> alter system set transactions=610 scope=both sid='*';

BPC 7.5NW SP08: "unknown MDX error" message for simple dimension formula

Hi everyone!!
We are facing many different issues concerning dimension formulas and
script logic. Maybe it's something related to SP08. For instance,
consider the following:
- there is a dimension named P_Account, with members Price, SalesCost,
and others
- there is a dimension named P_Product, which consists of a hierarchy,
for instance: Prod1 with two children, Prod1A and Prod1B
We want to set the following dimension formula in P_Product for Prod1 member:
IIF([P_Account].CURRENTMEMBER.PROPERTIES("ID") = "Price", Null, 1)
that is, we wanted to try to be able to avoid summing Price, returning
Null for (Price, Prod1). Later we would try to replace "1" with the
appropriate formula to sum children of Prod1 for all other members of
P_Account. The result is an odd error: "MDX statement error: unknown MDX
error" (or something similar, since I get the error message in portuguese).
We have spent almost two days studying alternatives in SDN Forum, blogs,
google, etc, trying to find a reason for the error but couldn't find it.
Could anyone help on this one?

Hi everyone!
After contacting SAP, we were asked to try to reproduce the error in APSHELL. I did the following:
1) created another application set, copying APSHELL, named it TESTAPPSET;
2) added two members to dimension P_ACCT (ID, ACCTYPE, SCALING, RATETYPE):
   (PRICE, INC, Y, END)
   (SALESCOST, INC, Y, END)
3) saved to server and processed P_ACCT dimension successfuly
4) added a UD dimension copied from P_Activity, named P_Product
5) deleted all members of P_Product, processed the dimension sucessfuly
6) added FORMULA property to P_Product, with size 200
7) added three members to P_Product (ID, PARENTH1)
   (Prod1, "")
   (Prod1A, Prod1)
   (Prod1B, Prod1)
8) saved to server and processed the dimension successfuly
9) edited P_Product members and added the following as FORMULA for Prod1:
IIF([P_ACCT].CURRENTMEMBER.PROPERTIES("ID") = "PRICE", Null, 1)
Result was sucess!!
10) edit P_Product again and removed the formula, saved to server and processed dimension successfuly;
11) created an Application named SALES, type Financial Report, copied from PLANNING with dimensions
12) edit dimensions, removed P_Activity and added P_Product to the list
13) went back to step (9) and tried to add the formula again, saved to server and processed P_Product dimension. Result was success again!!
So I imagined the issue might be caused by the user I was log in with. I went back to our application set, logged in as BPC_SYSADMIN and tried to set the formula again and it didn't work. User was not the problem.
Since I had tried all the above creating everything with all UPPERCASE, I decided to try the following Formula
IIF([P_ACCOUNT].CURRENTMEMBER.PROPERTIES("ID") = "Price", Null, 1)
that is, P_ACCOUNT instead of P_Account. Result: success in processing dimension!!! And the formula worked as expected when I opened an Input Schedule to test it.
When I check my dimension list in BPC Admin it says P_Account (mixed case), instead of P_ACCOUNT (all uppercase) since it was the way we created it.
So, I spent 1hour to do the whole test, but it worked. I sent two questions/requests for correction or improvement to SAP:
I) which case should be used in formulas? given I see P_Account in Dimension list, how should I know that I should write formulas with P_ACCOUNT, all uppercase?
II) could BPC provide more descriptive error messages when processing dimensions and validating script logic? a simple error message such as "unidentified command or reference at P_Account" or anything similar would have saved us 4,5 days of work! it's a lot!

If the finish good cannot return back to its basic components, your manufacturing is Process. For instance, the finish good is a can of soda. It cannot return back to its basic components such as carbonated water, potassium benzoate, aspartame, citric acid, and other ingredients. But if the finish good is car or computer, your manufacturing process is Discrete because it can be disassembled and the parts, to a large extent, can be returned to stock. Therefore Bill of Material (BOM) of discrete manufacturing consists of component parts for assembly while Process manufacturing consist of formulas, recipes and other ingredients
Process manufacturing is scalable. If a formula calls for 1,000 pounds of cake flour, but you only have 500 pounds, you can still bake cakesu2014just not as many. Conversely, in discrete manufacturing, one missing part means waiting for it before the finished assembly unit can start rolling off the production line
The obligatory requisite for process manufacturing is Lot Potency and Shelf Life where as discrete manufacturing values Serial Numbers, ECNu2019s and assembles.
If it is discrete manufacturing ---go for Production order
If it is process manufacturing ---go for process order

Cleanly stop a process in an XI adapter module

I have a java adapter module that decides whether the process should carry on or not.
When I want to stop the process I throw an UnsupportedOperationException that is reported in Runtime Workbench -> system monitoring.
Are there any other means to stop the process (other exception....) from an adapter module?

Process Order operation scheduling duration calculation

Hi
We have following formula has been maintained for processing time calculation in resource.
Machine * ( Operation quantity / Base quantity / Operation splits ) + Setup + Change-over
As per above formula for following procee order qty and time, SAP caulates time.
Opeartion qty - 100,
Base qty - 100,
Op split - 1
Machine - 0.5 hrs (30 Mins)
Processing time calculated as 30 mins (.5hrs)
When I schedule the process order with same resource for same qty and machine time, processing time is calculated as 33 mins. We dont have maintained any floats in scheduling margin key in material master. We dont have any wait times also.
Can you please let us know why process order operation is having 3 mins tolerance? Any idea where such settings has been maintained?
Any pointers will be helpful.

We have not maintained ay reduction levels in OPUZ for plant and order type combination.
In resource, we have 2 hrs break time and total operating time is 18.50 hrs.
I got following SAP help link for calculation of duration for processing time.

Is processing time is calculated based on following formula.
Processing time u2013 Calculated Processing time * (1+ (Length of break / Operating time)

Calling Synchronous process in a loop

Hi
I am facing a problem while I am tring to call Synchronous process in a loop. I am having a parent process that fetch batches numbers (list of batches) and loop for each of them and call a child Synchronous process to do some activity.
the issue here is that the output variable on the process is taking the value that returns from the first batch call and keep repeating it for all the rest batches. I tried to initialize it to null every time I am entring the loop but strangly it has been overrided with the output variable of the first batch and then for the rest it just initialized to null and not had been overriden.
any body face this before or knows about it

Let me eloborate the situvation
Facing problem while I call a Sync process from an Async process using while loop.
When I call sync child multiple times from a parent process using a While loop the response msg from child process is not correct.
Meaning for instance let say
Parent process : P
Child processes : C1, C2, C3 (assuming the loop goes for three iteration)
The expected response msg of the individual process where
C1: 10000
C2: 999
C3 : (null)
But when I go through the audit of the parent process I could see all responses as 10000, meaning the response of the child process is not getting reflected in Parent process correctly
Whereas when I inspect individual child process response; I could see the correct values.
Note: I am using End Point Reference technique to call the child process
Any Idea.
Requirement:
Parameter: Source System Name
(this parameter decides which child to call, basically this will be the SERVICE on WSDL pointing to the child process)
A parent Async process has to call a Sync child process “n” number of times (“n” get derived at run time) WHILE loop
The parent will decide which child process to call at runtime (Dynamic call using EndPointReference)
Some thing like below:

Can anyone tell me why process instruction characteristics is required when only process message characteristics are displayed in PI sheets (input or output).

Answer is already there in your question.
and that is
(input or output)
Now you creates the one Process Message characteristic let's it is Temperature.But how it's value comes in the PI Sheet (As Ouput or Input manually by user) that is decided by that Process Instruction Characteristic.
Now when you creates the Process Instruction Category (O12C) except type 0 you have choice of creates it by using help of Process Assistant.This Assistant assigns the Process Instruction Characteristic to the process Massage Characteristic automatically when you select the specific radio button or Activate the check box during that PI category creation.
For Example when you creates the PI category Type 2 using Assistant.Here after naming first screen comes to you is to define type of Process data Request.Here when you select the radio Button for Simple process data request then indirectly you assign the process Instruction characteristic PPPI_DATA_REQUEST_TYPE and its Value comes as Simple.
But when you create the PI category type 0 you have to assign this PI Characteristic manually because its Universal Category and there is no assistant which helps you.

Help on formula Veriable

I have a key figure "Net Price" is an Attribute of one InfoObject "Material Price".
I have created a formula variable with replacement path processing type, Replacement path as "Material Price" with Attribute Value as"Net Price".And also I'm maintaining this Net price based on Week and month.
But,i'm using month as a user entry option in my query. Now, the problem is coz for this variable.
For eg, Lets say I have 5 weeks in a month and Net price for the Week 41/2007 to 43/2007 is "1548" and week 44/2007 to 45/2007 is " 1118.33 ". User want to see the value always from week 45/2007 ie., "1118.33" in the report.
my report is based on the Month, it will always takes the first week ("From value") of the month, so we can see the value as "1548" as price in the report. Even i tried to create a new formula variable should pick up the "To value", but its always picking up the first value.
Is there any way to fix this issue. Please help me out for this issue.

you can use the variable 0P_CWEEK which return the current week.
If you want to specifie the function which return a week from a date is 'DATE_GET_WEEK':
CALL FUNCTION 'DATE_GET_WEEK'

    EXCEPTIONS
      date_invalid = 1

Processing type as SAP Exit with Variable 0F_ADAY

We are using the formula variable in our report as caluculated key figure. I have edited the CKF and drill down the formula node to check the processing type of it and found as SAP Exit and the variable name is 0F_ADAY. How can i navigate to get in to the SAP Exit code. Any help will be appreciated.

How to group rows based on a formula value

Hi experts,
I have a query that returns a a char row (country) and a couple of columns, "Duration of Process in days" and "Counter of nº process done", each a calculated formula KF .
What I would like is to group the results based on formula KF1 results ""Duration of Process in days".
For example: from this query result

my problem is that the "Duration in days" cannot be a characteristic derived in the loading process, as its value depends (is calculated) based on several user's selections done in the variable pop-up screen when executing the report.
