Forum features & how to use

The Signature
A signature is a pre defined message displayed on the bottom of any of one's post. It can be used just for fun to include hyperlinks, images, statements or whatever.
It's main use is to show everyone your hardware details. Knowing your hardware you can be helped a lot easier or you can just show off your stuff. Needing help you will be asked for what components you have anyway (>>Posting Guide<<) so a signature makes everything a bit easier because you won't have to add your details manually everytime you start a new topic.
Lets start to add a signature:
First click on Profile
Then navigate to Modify Profile/Forum Profile
Now you can add your personal text and everything you want the box next to Signature (note: Images mustn't be greater than 400x200 pixels)
Now just click on Change profile and you're good to go - signature added.
Adding an Avatar
Being in Profile/Forum Profile already you can also add an avatar to your profile. An avatar is a small image displayed below your name.
(Note: An avatar mustn't be bigger than 100x100 pixels and of .gif or .jpg format)
On top of the Forum Profile menu you can choose to add an avatar under Personalized Picture
No avatar explaines itself. Choose an avatar lets you choose from a number of various images (note: the Red Rockets avatar is for MSIHQ Red Rockets Team Members only)
Specify avatar by URL means you can place a link to an image. With Upload an avatar you can upload it from your pc to the forum by browsing on your pc and selecting yor image.
After selecting your avatar click on Change profile and you're good to go again - avatar added.
Adding an hyperlink to a post
Sometimes you might want to add a hyperlink in your post without having the whole adress displayed, this is how to:
When writing your post there's a menu with various buttons above where you enter your text. The button with the globe on it
will add a BBCode tag (you can type it instead of using the button too)
Code: [Select]
[url][/url]
Simply add the word that will represent the link between the Code: [Select]
[url] tags and in the first one enter your hyperlink after a =
The forum software will then convert everyting to a link:
Code: [Select]
[url=http://www.msi.com/index.php]>>MSI<<[/url]
will appear like
>>MSI<<
Add an Image to your post
Just like adding hyperlinks with BBCode tags it also works with images using
Code: [Select]
[img][/img]
You can only add images from the Internet not from your pc as you'll need an IMG code. Therefor you have to upload your image to an image hoster like Photobucket or Imageshack
Add the link and the software will convert the code to your image beeing displayed in the post
Code: [Select]
[img]https://forum-en.msi.com/images/05index_logo.gif[/img]
will appear like
Combining link and image
Like just having a word converted in a clickable link you can do the same with an image by combining the BBCode tags:
Code: [Select]
[img][/img]
+
Code: [Select]
[url][/url]
=
Code: [Select]
[url][img][/img][/url]
Example:
Code: [Select]
[url=http://www.msi.com/index.php][img]https://forum-en.msi.com/images/05index_logo.gif[/img][/url]
will appear like (click image to follow the link)
Adding a youtube video
You can also add a youtube video to your post (yes, we even have a BBCode tag for that)
Code: [Select]
[youtube][/youtube]
It works just like adding an image or link just with the youtube tags. Simply add the youtube link and you got it.
Code: [Select]

will appear like
Due to some enhancements it now works even without a BBCode tag. Simply post the link (WITHOUT hyperlink tags):
Code: [Select]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Es3jV7dS74Y&feature=player_embedded
will also appear like
Contacting other Users
If you want to contact other users for direct questions or making friends you can use a Personal Message or E-Mail (if the other user allows that).
Note: This is a forum to post and ask for help or offer help, don't use it for contacting people directly with your issues. That would be considered very inpolite. To prevent spamming contacting other persons is only allowed to members with more than 10 posts.
To contact someone look at his details to the left of his post. Below his name and avatar there are some buttons. Clicking on the button for personal message or E-Mail you can send this user a PM or Mail:
Editing your post
Sometimes you will realize you forgot something or made a mistake after posting.
No problem, for 180 minutes after posting you can modify your post clicking Modify
After 180 minutes your post is contributed as is and can't be changed.

    Hi!:
    At Property Editor of a portal page I can see "Window Features" but I can't find documentation on what put in it or how to use it.
    Can I put some argument to change the color of the page? (and only this particular page) something like "BGCOLOR" at html.
    Thanks a lot.

  • [Forum FAQ] How to use parameter to control the Expand/Collapse drill-down options in SSRS report?

    In SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), drill-down is an action we can apply to any report item to hide and show other report items. They all are ways that we can organize and display data to help our users understand our report better. In this article,
    we are talking about how to use parameter to control the Expand/Collapse drill-down options in SSRS report.
    Consider that the report has a dataset (dsSales) with following fields: SalesTerritoryGroup, SalesTerritoryCountry, CalendarYear, SalesAmount.
    1. The report has the following group settings:
    Parent Group: SalesTerritoryGroup
     Child Group: SalesTerritoryCountry
      Child Group: CalendarYear
       Details: SalesAmount
    2. Add three parameters in the report:
    GroupExpand:
    Available Values: “Specify values”
    Label: Yes           Value: Yes
    Label: No            Value: No
    Default Values: “Specify values”
    Value: Yes
    CountryExpand:
    Available Values: “Specify values”
    Label: Yes           Value: =IIF(Parameters!GroupExpand.Value="No",Nothing,"Yes")
    Label: No            Value: No
    Default Values: “Specify values”
    Value: =IIF(Parameters!GroupExpand.Value="No","No","Yes")
    YearExpand:
    Available Values: “Specify values”
    Label: Yes
    Value: =IIF(Parameters!GroupExpand.Value="No" or Parameters!CountryExpand.Value="No",Nothing,"Yes")
    Label: No            Value: No
    Default Values: “Specify values”
    Value: =IIF(Parameters!GroupExpand.Value="No" or Parameters!CountryExpand.Value="No","No","Yes")
    3. Right click SalesTerritoryCountry icon in the Row Groups dialog box, select Group Properties.
    4. Click Visibility in the left pane. Select “Show or hide based on an expression” and type with following expression:
    =IIF(Parameters!GroupExpand.Value="Yes", False, True)
    Select “Display can be toggled by this report item” option, and select “SalesTerritoryGroup” in the drop down list.
    5. Use the same method setting CalendarYear, (Details) drill-down with following expression:
    =IIF(Parameters!CountryExpand.Value="Yes", False, True)
    =IIF(Parameters!YearExpand.Value="Yes", False, True)
    6. Click SalesTerritoryGroup text box in the tablix. Select InitialToggleState property in the Properties dialog box, and type following expression:
    =IIF(Parameters!GroupExpand.Value="Yes", True, False)
    7. Use the same method setting SalesTerritoryCountry, CalendarYear text box with following expression:
    =IIF(Parameters!CountryExpand.Value="Yes", True, False)
    =IIF(Parameters!YearExpand.Value="Yes", True, False)
    After that, when we preview the report, we can use these three parameters to expand/collapse drill-down.
    Note:
    In our test, we may meet following issue. We can check the expression of InitialToggleState property to troubleshooting the issue.

  • [Forum FAQ] How to use multiple field terminators in BULK INSERT or BCP command line

    Introduction
    Some people want to know if we can have multiple field terminators in BULK INSERT or BCP commands, and how to implement multiple field terminators in BULK INSERT or BCP commands.
    Solution
    For character data fields, optional terminating characters allow you to mark the end of each field in a data file with a field terminator, as well as the end of each row with a row terminator. If a terminator character occurs within the data, it is interpreted
    as a terminator, not as data, and the data after that character is interpreted and belongs to the next field or record. I have done a test, if you use BULK INSERT or BCP commands and set the multiple field terminators, you can refer to the following command.
    In Windows command line,
    bcp <Databasename.schema.tablename> out “<path>” –c –t –r –T
    For example, you can export data from the Department table with bcp command and use the comma and colon (,:) as one field terminator.
    bcp AdventureWorks.HumanResources.Department out C:\myDepartment.txt -c -t ,: -r \n –T
    The txt file as follows:
    However, if you want to bcp by using multiple field terminators the same as the following command, which will still use the last terminator defined by default.
    bcp AdventureWorks.HumanResources.Department in C:\myDepartment.txt -c -t , -r \n -t: –T
    The txt file as follows:
    When multiple field terminators means multiple fields, you use the below comma separated format,
    column1,,column2,,,column3
    In this occasion, you only separate 3 fields (column1, column2 and column3). In fact, after testing, there will be 6 fields here. That is the significance of a field terminator (comma in this case).
    Meanwhile, using BULK INSERT to import the data of the data file into the SQL table, if you specify terminator for BULK import, you can only set multiple characters as one terminator in the BULK INSERT statement.
    USE <testdatabase>;
    GO
    BULK INSERT <your table> FROM ‘<Path>’
     WITH (
    DATAFILETYPE = ' char/native/ widechar /widenative',
     FIELDTERMINATOR = ' field_terminator',
    For example, using BULK INSERT to import the data of C:\myDepartment.txt data file into the DepartmentTest table, the field terminator (,:) must be declared in the statement.
    In SQL Server Management Studio Query Editor:
    BULK INSERT AdventureWorks.HumanResources.DepartmentTest FROM ‘C:\myDepartment.txt’
     WITH (
    DATAFILETYPE = ‘char',
    FIELDTERMINATOR = ‘,:’,
    The new table contains like as follows:
    We could not declare multiple field terminators (, and :) in the Query statement,  as the following format, a duplicate error will occur.
    In SQL Server Management Studio Query Editor:
    BULK INSERT AdventureWorks.HumanResources.DepartmentTest FROM ‘C:\myDepartment.txt’
     WITH (
    DATAFILETYPE = ‘char',
    FIELDTERMINATOR = ‘,’,
    FIELDTERMINATOR = ‘:’
    However, if you want to use a data file with fewer or more fields, we can implement via setting extra field length to 0 for fewer fields or omitting or skipping more fields during the bulk copy procedure.

    Thanks,
    Is this a supported scenario, or does it use unsupported features?
    For example, can we call exec [ReportServer].dbo.AddEvent @EventType='TimedSubscription', @EventData='b64ce7ec-d598-45cd-bbc2-ea202e0c129d'
    in a supported way?

  • How to use filters on ios mobile devices (iPhone/iPad) using GPU rendering (Solved)

    Many moons ago I asked a question here on the forums about how to use filters (specifically a glow filter) on a mobile devices (specifically the iPhone) when using GPU rendering and high resolution.
    At the time, there was no answer... filters were unsupported. Period.
    Well, Thanks to a buddy of mine, this problem has been solved and I can report that I have gotten a color matrix filter for desaturation AND a glow filter working on the iPhone and the iPad using GPU rendering and high resolution.
    The solution, in a nut shell is as follows:
    1: Create your display object... ie: a sprite.
    2. Apply your filter to the sprite like you normally would.
    3. Create a new bitmapdata and then draw that display object into the bitmap data.
    4. Put the new bitmapdata into a bitmap and then put it on the stage or do what you want.
    When you draw the display object into the bitmapdata, it will draw it WITH THE FILTER!
    So even if you put your display object onto the stage, the filter will not be visible, but the new bitmapdata will!
    Here is a sample app I created and tested on the iphone and ipad
    var bm:Bitmap;
    // temp bitmap object
    var bmData:BitmapData;
    // temp bitmapData object
    var m:Matrix;
    // temp matrix object
    var gl:GlowFilter;
    // the glow filter we are going to use
    var sprGL:Sprite;
    // the source sprite we are going to apply the filter too
    var sprGL2:Sprite;
    // the sprite that will hold our final bitmapdata containing the original sprite with a filter.
    // create the filters we are going to use.
    gl = new GlowFilter(0xFF0000, 0.9, 10, 10, 5, 2, false, false);
    // create the source sprite that will use our glow filter.
    sprGL = new Sprite();
    // create a bitmap with any image from our library to place into our source sprite.
    bm = new Bitmap(new Msgbox_Background(), "auto", true);
    // add the bitmap to our source sprite.
    sprGL.addChild(bm);
    // add the glow filter to the source sprite.
    sprGL.filters = [gl];
    // create the bitmapdata that will draw our glowing sprite.
    sprGL2 = new Sprite();
    // create the bitmap data to hold our new image... remember, with glow filters, you need to add the padding for the flow manually. Should be double the blur size
    bmData = new BitmapData(sprGL.width+20, sprGL.height+20, true, 0);
    // create a matrix to translate our source image when we draw it. Should be the same as our filter blur size.
    m = new Matrix(1,0,0,1, 10, 10);
    // draw the source sprite containing the filter into our bitmap data
    bmData.draw(sprGL, m);
    // put the new bitmap data into a bitmap so we can see it on screen.
    bm = new Bitmap(bmData, "auto", true);
    // put the new bitmap into a sprite - this is just because the rest of my test app needed it, you can probably just put the bitmap right on the screen directly.
    sprGL2.addChild(bm);
    // put the source sprite with the filter on the stage. It should draw, but you will not see the filter.
    sprGL.x = 100;
    sprGL.y = 50;
    this.addChild(sprGL);
    // put the filtered sprite on the stage. it shoudl appear like the source sprite, but a little bigger (because of the glow padding)
    // and unlike the source sprite, the flow filter should acutally be visible now!
    sprGL2.x = 300;
    sprGL2.y = 50;
    this.addChild(sprGL2);

    Great stuff dave
    I currently have a slider which changes the hue of an image in a movieclip, I need it to move through he full range -180 to 180.
    I desperately need to get this working on a tablet but cant get the filters to work in GPU mode. My application works too slow in cpu mode.
    var Mcolor:AdjustColor = new AdjustColor();   //This object will hold the color properties
    var Mfilter:ColorMatrixFilter;                           //Will store the modified color filter to change the image
    var markerSli:SliderUI = new SliderUI(stage, "x", markerSli.track_mc, markerSli.slider_mc, -180, 180, 0, 1);   //using slider from http://evolve.reintroducing.com
    Mcolor.brightness = 0;  Mcolor.contrast = 0; Mcolor.hue = 0; Mcolor.saturation = 0;            // Set initial value for filter
    markerSli.addEventListener(SliderUIEvent.ON_UPDATE, markerSlider);                          // listen for slider changes
    function markerSlider($evt:SliderUIEvent):void {
        Mcolor.hue = $evt.currentValue;
        updateM();
    function updateM():void{
        Mfilter = new ColorMatrixFilter(Mcolor.CalculateFinalFlatArray());
        all.marker.filters = [Mfilter];
    how would I use your solution in my case
    many thanks.

  • How to use the "identify" feature in new 6.3.1 airport utility?

    how to use the "identify" feature in new 6.3.1 airport utility?
    so you can find the basestations in larger networks?

    There is a workaround, which is to use Airport Utility 5.6.
    I can confirm that 5.6 will run on 10.8.4 Mountain Lion, it will recognize the new 2013 Airport Extreme Base Station (A1521) running firmware 7.7.1, and it will give you access to view the device's Log & Statistics, DHCP Clients, and Profiles.
    Four caveats:
    1) The easiest way to install it is to download the app itself, not an installer or through the App Store. There is a page here where you can download the app: http://coreyjmahler.com/2013/03/08/airport-utility-5-6-on-os-x-v10-8-mountain-li on/ This way, you still have both versions, Airport Utility 6.x.x and 5.6.
    2) When you launch 5.6, you'll get a message saying a newer version is available and asking if you want to update. Click Cancel to proceed into the utility.
    3) When you click the Manual Setup button in 5.6, you'll get a warning dialog that "This version of AirPort Utility doesn't support this AirPort wireless device and might improperly configure the device if you continue to use it. Check www.apple.com/support/airport for the latest version of AirPort Utility." You can click Continue to get into the utility without issue.
    4) You should probably only use 5.6 to view the additional status details. I have not tried to modify and save any AEBS settings using 5.6. There are other discussions here in the forums indicating that attempting to save settings via 5.6 that are no longer available in 6.3.1 will not actually save the settings to the AEBS even if both utilities indicate that the settings are changed. See https://discussions.apple.com/message/22677993#22677993
    So, even though you can't use it to modify settings no longer available in Airport Utility 6.3.1, using Airport Utility 5.6 to view DHCP clients, Logs and Statistics is very useful for troubleshooting network issues.
    PS - There are two ways to get to the DHCP Clients list, neither of which is obvious The first is to go to the Airport pane -> Summary tab and click on the "Wireless Clients:" label in the Summary display. All of the labels from "Wireless Mode:" down on the Summary display operate as links to view/edit the corresponding info/settings, which is also not obvious at first glance. Also not obvious, clicking on "Wireless Clients:" actually brings up a new pane with three tabs: Logs, Wireless Clients, and DHCP Clients. You can also get to the same pane by going to the Advanced pane and clicking on the Logs and Statistics button.
    I hope this is helpful information. Took me a while to find out how to do this.

And access to my forum is allowed to registered users only.Please share the tutorial  for implementing this idea to my website using Dreamweaver .
    Your suggestions are valuable.

    Start with your web hosting provider.  Some hosts have Forum plug-ins you can activate in your server's Admin or C-Panel.  If no such feature comes with your hosting, you'll need to find out which server-side programming languages and databases your server supports. Also make notes about the versions of each as this will effect which Forum solutions you can use.
    Then figure out what features are most important to you:
    Price range,
    How many forum members can it support at once?
    Automated or manual Sign-up process?
    Can it be customized?
    Emoticons,
    Avatars,
    WYSIWYG editing,
    How complex is the set-up & maintenance?
    How about tech support?
    Etc...

  • We have a corporate iPad in our auto showroom to show guests how to use features on their vehicles. Someone locked it with their account. It was not an employee. How can I get in? I did a restore of the software already?

    Gather up the proof that the dealership is the original purchaser of the iPad,
    and take the iPad & that proof to a physical Apple store for possible assistance.
    It is highly suggested that you make a genius bar appointment to avoid delay
    at the store:
    Make a Genius Bar Reservation

    If no Apple store close by, get the information mentioned above and contact
    Apple Contact Us for assistance.
    Once the problem is resolved, you may wish it use Guided Access to limit
    what customers can do with the iPad.

  • Can you please help me figure out my i phone and how to use the features

    i need some help on figuring out my phone can you please help me figure out how to use my i phone and the blue tooth features to listen to music or how can a friend or a relative send me songs for me to listen to.....

    To listen to music with a headset or earbuds via bluetooth requires a bluetooth stereo headset.
    File transfer via bluetooth is not supported. A friend or relative can purchase music for you via the iTunes music store with an iTunes store gift card or by sending you the music gift via email from iTunes.

  • How to use Adobe LiveCycle Forms Standard / Pro to leverage features in Adobe Reader

    Can someone please tell me how to use the Adobe LiveCycle Forms Standard or Pro module to leverage features in Adobe Reader? Do you also need to have the Reader Extensions Module?
    The forms data sheet says that it is possible to leverage features in Adobe Reader but does not go on to detail how.

    Depends on your deployment pattern.  You can just use Reader Extensions if you're publishing forms on a site, if you need to prefill or perform other processing on the template then LiveCycle Forms is needed.  If you want to render to HTML5 for tablet support then Forms Pro is needed.

  • How do I find out what features are not useful in my Classifier?

    How do I find out what features are not useful in my Classifier? I am trying to trim down the number of features to speed up the training of my data, I have about 3700 features. I have found the Filter Based Feature Selection Module and have not been successful
    in using it. I have looked through all the examples and have not been able to find any examples using the module. Will the Filter Based Feature Selection Module help me to trim features. If so how do I use it?

    One way to do this would be is to use a random forest classifier. Feature/variable importance can be obtained relatively easily with random forests.
    Here is how you may do it in R.
    > install.packages('randomForest') #install randomForest package in R if it is not already there
    > library(randomForest) # reference the library
    > data(mtcars) # load motor cars data that ships with
    #train a random forest
    > mtcars.rf <- randomForest(mpg ~ ., data=mtcars, ntree=1000,keep.forest=FALSE, importance=TRUE)
    > importance(mtcars.rf)
    > importance(mtcars.rf)
    #You will see an output like below
           %IncMSE IncNodePurity
    cyl  16.168645     169.96741
    disp 18.672188     260.08722
    hp   17.584375     184.95007
    drat  6.948743      63.54528
    wt   17.818509     254.30347
    qsec  4.772889      33.25546
    vs    5.303058      24.39064
    am    5.210181      17.36626
    gear  4.619161      21.55450
    carb  8.577037      28.46715
    # or plot the importance as follows
    > varImpPlot(mtcars.rf)
    What this tells you is how important predictors/features/variables like horsepower(hp), weight(wt), no. of cylinders (cyl) is in predicting miles per gallon (mpg).
    If you are wondering how the data looks like. Try this
    head(mtcars) # gives first few lines of the data set.
     mpg cyl disp  hp drat   wt ...
    Mazda RX4     21.0   6  160 110 3.90 2.62 ...
    Mazda RX4 Wag 21.0   6  160 110 3.90 2.88 ...
    Datsun 710    22.8   4  108  93 3.85 2.32 ...
    . Try this
