Forum post ID's and broken tag rendering

Hi all and Merry summer solstice
How do I reference the forum post ID's?
I saw a post relating to the tag {tag_blogpostid} - what is the equivilent tag for forum posts?
My customer is a forum user, and they have used really basic forums in the past, however to bring the BC forum up to a really basic functionality level, we have to impliment typical forum features externally. However, to achieve this we MUST be able to reference the forum post ID's.
What is the tag for this?
I've also noticed that many tags don't seem to render properly - eg. {tag_postauthoralias} will render once, but every other occurance fails to work. I gather this is a bug?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Cheers.

Just post a reply to your thread with the answer. Once you do that, you can click a "Solves it" button on the right side of that post and that will mark your issue as solved.
Moderators or the poster of the thread can not mark a thread with no replies as solved.

Update: This happens only locally, not when the files reside on the web server. In the later case both pages render as the page residing in root locally. I consider the issue solved.

  • How does User get Identified by Screen Name and NOT by Real Name in submitting a Forum Post?

    I have noticed that when I post a question or discussion item to one of Adobe's Forum Communities, I am identified as the author of my post by my actual legal name, not by my Screen Name that I set up in my profile when I registered.  The same applies for the posts of others--they are identified by their legal names, not their screen names.  What is the purpose of the Screen Name we set up when we registered, if not to shield the identity of the individual from others reading the post, if that person does not want to have their true identity publicly disclosed in, or publicly associated with the post?  If I sign my post using my Screen Name, but then it is identified with my legal name when I post it, what good does it do to have a Screen Name?  Is there some way to have the software not use my legal name, but identify my posts by my Screen Name only, if I so choose that option?  (Of course, Administrators at Adobe can always (presumably) identify the (real name) author of the post, via the registration information associated with a Screen Name, should the need arise.)
    Sincerely,
    SpaceAdventurer

    Thanks for the reply, mytaxsite.co.uk.  And thanks for the screenshot showing me that my name is displayed to you as "spaceadventurer," which is what I had intended / wanted.
    I understand now, from reading through most of the original and replies to the post,Real name instead of Screen name displayed, where I noticed you replied several times, that the Screen Name / real legal name works this way on Adobe’s forums:
    When you are logged in - YOU (and only you) see your real legal name everywhere on the forums / web site, and associated with all of your posts
    When you are not logged in (to Adobe / forums with your Adobe username / password), you always see your name associated with your posts as your Screen Name only
    Everyone else always sees your screen name, everywhere, on all posts, regardless of whether they (everyone else) are logged in or logged out.  (Unless, of course, you set up your profile to have your Screen Name be your real legal name.  Then everyone will always see your real legal name associated with your posts.)
    When logged in, in the “Edit Communities Profile” web page (from the menu that appears when you click your Avatar in the black Adobe menu bar at the top of the screen), in the “Privacy” tab on that page, there is a “widget” called ‘Preview your profile’ in the upper right-hand corner of that tab.  This widget is supposed to show you how you or others, depending on which selection you make from the dropdown in the widget, will see your Profile (and therefore, your name) from their computers.  In fact, no matter which selection you make from the dropdown, the display of your profile that is produced ALWAYS shows your real legal name, which is misleading, because that is not in fact, what others will see. Others, whether “Registered Users,” “Friends,” or “Everyone,” will ALWAYS see your Screen Name only.  (Except for the exception I mentioned in the immediate previous bullet.)
    There is a way to change your Screen Name, should you feel the need to do so.  The steps to do that are detailed in response no. 75 to the "Real name instead of Screen name displayed" forum post.
    Does it sound to you like I have captured the gist of the main learnings that can be gleaned from that post ("Real name instead of Screen name displayed”)?
    Thanks,

  • Story won't update. And I've read the forum posts!

    I have a desktop version of Story installed well before May 2012.  It's on a Mac running OS 10.8.2.
    When I launch Story, it wants to update itelf. But never completes the process. I've read all the forum posts so have tried installing the latest version of Adobe AIR (3.6) and downloading the Story installer from the links provided by Adobe forum moderators. When I run the installer via AIR, I get this message every time.
    This application cannot be installed because this installer has been misconfigured.
    I've tried deleting Story from the Applications folder. I've tried different versions of Adobe AIR.  Same result. I have nothing left to try.
    Can anyone help?

    Thanks for the reply.   I made sure that the Story application was not in the Applications folder, and tried again. Still no luck.
    But then I searched my whole system - and noticed there was a back-up copy of the Story application on an attached firewire hard drive. I unmounted this drive - and tried the installer again - with success!
    It seems the installer doesn't just look in the Application folder for old copies of Story - it scans the whole system and every disk it can find.
    So - problem solved. And thanks again for your fast responses. Really appreciated.  I can get back to writing now.

  • Bug? Exporting stills and broken renders...

    Hello All
    Just noticed this because it trashed a long render and made me cross, but am starting to think that I have actually seen it before in v5 & v6:
    Fully rendered sequence. Originated as HDV 1080i50 plus loads of stills but rendered as ProRes.
    Just nip in to grab some stills for DVD print. When the Export with Quicktime Conversion dialogue finishes and hands back to FCP there's a long Preparing for Video Display and all the renders for the sequence are gone.
    Only seems to happen direct from the sequence, not from freeze frames of the sequence.
    Any offers of how / why or whether I should bug it?
    Thank you
    Jim

    Unfortunalty I work for an organization that only supports the IE9 internet explorer. Would like to know if this is bug that will be patched for IE9 or is there any known workarounds.

  • Pre and Code tags buttons... ?

    I've asked about the addition of buttons for the code and pre tags before (must have been one of the recently deleted posts, or the search is broken or something), and been told that it was being considered for the next version of Jive.
    Unless I'm missing something obvious, it looks like those buttons (I was hoping them to be next to the bold, italics, underline, etc buttons) have not been included in the latest version. Any chance that they might be?

    Hi,
    Just arrive after the upgrade.
    Jive must have those "buttons".
    SAP is using also Jive to power the Forums on [http://sdn.sap.com] and that functionality exist. (they do not have the "Rich text" Editor)
    so, lets try (you must eliminate the spaces on between the brackets (I think that is the name of "{" and "}"

  • [off-topic] How to {code} and {quote} tags?

    Hi Experts,
    In the old JIVE forum, we had two tags - { code } and { quote }   (without spaces)
    In this new forum, quote tags are there... but can anybody please tell me how to bring the { code } tags?
    Like the one used here - https://forums.oracle.com/message/11041702
    ( { code } tags - White vertical stripes )
    -- Ranit

    Yes, the others have the correct answer, but you can also get the quoting lines by playing with the pre syntax in the html editor.  You have to be careful to move the </pre> tags to the right place in the hierarchy, and there seems to be some pre- and post- processing going on that might mess it up anyways - when the system is slow and you go into the advanced editor, you can get a glimpse of some of that happening.  I think that is why they can't get it right, it's too helpful.  I gave up trying to figure it out, except when it won't work and I have to futz with it (sometimes when you quote, it all gets quoted and there's no way to add an unquoted line).
    Here I added a <pre class="jive_text_macro jive_macro_quote" jivemacro="quote"> and an associated </pre> on your "Thanks for responding" line:

    Hi Dude,
    Thanks for responding. Did you manage to check the link I posted previously? I used the { code } tags there.
    Just wanted to know how to get those "white vertical lines" around my code. They look neat, decent and still preserve the code formatting. (unlike the Syntax highlighting >>)
    I did some decoding in HTML mode, with <code> and <pre> tags and CSS "class=jive-pre" ... but no good.
    Are you getting my concern... Any pointers?

  • Editable regions and UL tags

    I notice that D8 design view can corrupt the view of a page
    element if an editable region is included. I.e.

    <!-- TemplateEndEditable --></div>
    </div>
    The first region statements corrupt the view (remove them and
    all displays correctly). This does not affect the final page.
    If I try to solve this by putting the region just inside the
    UL and /UL tags the design view is good. BUT the resulting page has
    an extra UL opening tag. Why is this, it upsets the styling?
    Where can I find a definitive set of rules for putting
    regions around tags other than <p> which seems to work OK? I
    want to make a set of LIs editable and be able to add another LI to
    the list.

    There must be something else going on. Your posted code would
    be quite
    normal. Why not upload this page and post a link to it so I
    can see the
    whole picture, please.

    The regions must be properly nested. That's about it. In
    other words, you
    could not have this -
    <div><!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="foo" -->
    </div>
    <!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
    > I want to make a set of LIs editable and
    > be able to add another LI to the list.
    Exactly what you have would do that.

  • Trying to add img scr, alt and title tags to a Photoshop created web gallery.

    I need to add some tags to a web photo gallery created by Photoshop. I've posted the same question in the PS Forum just in case.
    I need to add img src, alt and title tags to the images in the web gallery. Normally this is as simple as working on the code in the html page in which the image sits but the PS gallery doesn't seem to be that simple. I'm not sure exactly what file to put these tags in.
    Can anyone tell me exactly how, and which files I need to work on, to add these tags to each of my 42 gallery images?
    Thanks.
    John.

    The gallery is a mess and I might just rebuilt it using something else like Jalbum, but here it is: http://thewoodshopmalvern.com/ThumbnailGallery/index.htm
    Yes, I'm sorry, I'm trying to add ATTRIBUTES to the <img> tag.
    For the rest of the site I have simply gone to each of the html pages and updated the code itself - pretty straightforward. But PS seems to use Javascript in making this gallery and unfortunately I just don't know enough about Java to understand exactly where I need to add these attributes.

  • Post-action events and Find Panel

    Hi all,
    I need to know how to do some query on a field of the displayed (found) register after closing the Find Panel.
    Can it be done by vetoable events of the NavBar?
    Thanx in advance..

    Without code, it would be hard to guess what's wrong. That being said, I'm nervous about your statement that you are using NetBeans. Are you using NetBeans Swing code generation (Matisse)? If so, it'll be very difficult for you to post your code in some understandable way here.
    A guess: are you using any static variables or methods?
    If this doesn't help, then what you need to do is to create an [SSCCE (Short, Self Contained, Correct (Compilable), Example)|http://homepage1.nifty.com/algafield/sscce.html] .
    This is an active process where by you work hard to isolate the error with as little extraneous code as possible. If you have NetBeans generated code, I suggest you avoid it for this process. Just create a simple version of your class with a simple tab and see if the error can be reproduced. If so, then post it here.
    Also, when posting your code, please use code tags so that your code will retain its formatting and be readable. To do this, either use the "code" button at the top of the forum Message editor or place the tag &#91;code] at the top of your block of code and the tag &#91;/code] at the bottom, like so:
    &#91;code]
      // your code block goes here.
      // note the differences between the tag at the top vs the bottom.
    &#91;/code]or
    {&#99;ode}
      // your code block goes here.
      // note here that the tags are the same.
    {&#99;ode}good luck

    I would like to control the width of of the edit-forum post input box.  This could be:
    automatically adjust the width of the box so that the box doesn't run off the right edge of the window.
    have a user global preference to set the preferred width
    at least, allow the user to change the width via the change size icon.  The three horizontal bars at the lower left of the input box. You can adjust the vertical dimension, but not the horizontal. TenFourFox 4.0.1. This is probably being blocked for some obscure reason.

  • b and i tags not working in StyleableTextField for mobile development

    I'm trying to dynamically produce TextArea instances in a Flex mobile app that implement html formatting.  I've made a lot of progress, but simple <b> and <i> tags are not being rendered correctly.
    My current hypothesis is that I need to embed the italic and bold fonts.  I am currently not embedding fonts for these particular TextArea instances at all -- they are rendering using the system font.  In my previous experience, this eliminates problems with rendering <b> and <i> text.  However, when deploying on mobile platforms, I don't know for sure if there is a bold or italic system font natively available.
    If I need to embed the bold and italic fonts for the tags to process correctly, does anyone know which font(s) I should embed and how I should name them so that the html will be able to find them and render correctly?  I am applying a CSS to these TextArea instances in the full app, so I can do any font embedding there if necessary.  I am planning to compile this app for both iOS and Android, in case that makes a difference.
    Below is a simplified example of the code I'm using.  The TextArea that is generated is formatted honoring the <br /> tags, but ignoring the <b> and <i> tags.
    Thanks in advance for any help.
    import mx.events.FlexEvent;
    import spark.components.TextArea;
    import spark.components.supportClasses.StyleableTextField;
    import spark.skins.mobile.TextAreaSkin;
    protected function application1_creationCompleteHandler(event:FlexEvent):void
              var textArea0:TextArea = new TextArea();
              textArea0.setStyle("skinClass", TextAreaSkin);
              addElement(textArea0);
              var styleableTextField0:StyleableTextField = StyleableTextField(textArea0.textDisplay);
              styleableTextField0.multiline = true;
              styleableTextField0.htmlText = "<b>bold</b><br /><i>italic</i><br />normal";

    Huh!  I tried tracing the htmlText property after formatting, and the bold and italic tags are not there anymore.  Unexpected, but consistent with the results.  Thanks for suggesting that test.  Here is the line where I assign the htmlText property:
    styleableTextField0.htmlText = "normal<br/><i>italic</i><br/><b>bold</b><br/><a href='http://www.google.com/'>link</a>";
    Here is the section where I create the StyleSheet and assign it to the StyleableTextField:
    var styles:String =
      "@font-face{ fontFamily: Arial; src: url('assets/fonts/Arial.ttf'); embedAsCFF: false;}" +
      "@font-face{ fontFamily: Arial; src: url('assets/fonts/Arial Italic.ttf'); fontStyle: italic; embedAsCFF: false;}" +
      "@font-face{ fontFamily: Arial; src: url('assets/fonts/Arial Bold.ttf'); fontWeight: bold; embedAsCFF: false;}" +
      "a { color: #FFE043; textDecoration: underline; } " +
      "a:active{ color: #ffffff;}" +
      "b{fontWeight:bold; fontFamily: Arial;} " +
      "i{fontStyle:italic; fontFamily: Arial;}";
    var myStyleSheet:StyleSheet = new StyleSheet();
    myStyleSheet.parseCSS(styles);
    styleableTextField0.styleSheet = myStyleSheet;
    And here is the trace statement
    trace( styleableTextField0.htmlText); // <TEXTFORMAT RIGHTMARGIN="21" INDENT="10" LEADING="2"><P ALIGN="LEFT"><FONT FACE="Arial" SIZE="16" COLOR="#FFFFFF" LETTERSPACING="0" KERNING="0">normal</FONT></P></TEXTFORMAT><TEXTFORMAT RIGHTMARGIN="21" INDENT="10" LEADING="2"><P ALIGN="LEFT"><FONT FACE="Arial" SIZE="16" COLOR="#FFFFFF" LETTERSPACING="0" KERNING="0">italic</FONT></P></TEXTFORMAT><TEXTFORMAT RIGHTMARGIN="21" INDENT="10" LEADING="2"><P ALIGN="LEFT"><FONT FACE="Arial" SIZE="16" COLOR="#FFFFFF" LETTERSPACING="0" KERNING="0">bold</FONT></P></TEXTFORMAT><TEXTFORMAT RIGHTMARGIN="21" INDENT="10" LEADING="2"><P ALIGN="LEFT"><FONT FACE="Arial" SIZE="16" COLOR="#FFFFFF" LETTERSPACING="0" KERNING="0"><A HREF="http://www.google.com/" TARGET="">link</A></FONT></P></TEXTFORMAT>
    Lots of code modification going on behind the scenes, it would seem.  Any idea as to why the bold and italic tags are being stripped out when the formatting process happens?  Any idea of what steps I could take next?  Thanks for all your help so far!
    BTW, here's a screen capture of what the text looks like at this point:

  • RH10 variable and build tag source file names

    I'm using RH10 and outputting to WebHelp. My company requires that I archive project source files to our CVS via Eclipse. I am not using RoboSource_Control and must use the company's development resources for archiving.
    Since archiving the initial project, I have been uploading only source files with modified dates.
    However, I have discovered that the files I thought were storing user variables and build tags are not the correct files to archive. Since I am uploading all files with a newer date and that's not working, I need to know the user variable source file name and the build tag source file name that stores the currently defined variables and build tags.
    I have already tried the WebHelp forum and was directed to this forum to pose the question because I'm looking for source file information instead of output file information.
    Thanks for your help!
    karen

    Yes, Eclipse does work that way. However, we do not use our development directory as the local Eclipse repository. I need to move changed files to the local repository (stores all source files in the project) so that Eclipse can upload changes to the server. Yes, this is planned redundancy.
    That said, it is not acceptable to spend the time copying all files in the large projects from the work folder to the local repository. I simply need to know which individual files to copy that include the currently defined variables and build tags. Note, we do not copy the SSL folder output files to our local source file repository, or other associated reference files that are not actually project source files.
    Can you find someone who knows which files I need?
    Thanks,
    karen

I thought something went wrong with posting my MacBook Pro question. I checked my activity page and looked for my new entry and it was not listed. I went back and tried to post again. This time I was sent a pink banner that read "You are not allowed to create or update this content." At the bottom of my question box it said "Auto-saved" with the date and time listed. I am confused now. I have searched all over looking for my question. It's no where. What has happened to my posted question? Why am I being denied access to it?

    The Forum is haunted with glitches, you ran in to two. If you get the you can't post message first refresh the page if that doesn't work try a little later. If you get the message auto-saved versions etc,. tap recover or type a new question. If you find your question is in the wrong Forum reply to yourself and ask if someone will ask a host to relocate your post.
