Found iPad 2 solution for WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK

My security setting is WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK on my modem/wirless router with Time Warner Cable. IPad does not have an option to select this security setting when attempting to connect to a WiFi network. I could connect my iPad by WiFi on some ocassions (selecting WPA or WEP on the iPad). However, I would lose connection after about 5-10 minutes.  I have been having this problem for about 3 months. I spent a couple of hours on the phone yesterday with Time Warner and we think we "stumbled across" the fix (instead of actually knowing we found it).  The tech noticed that the setup on the Time Warner modem/wireless router had the box for Active WPS checked. After the Time Warner tech unchecked Active WPS within the router's setup, the iPad starting picking up the WiFi signal. The iPad has now functioned for a full 24 hours without a problem or shutdown!
Please alert your techs and post this info on your website. When I talked with Apple techs in the past, they had no known solution to this situation and said that Apple simply did not support WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK. The Time Warner tech also said that "he thinks" (but isn't sure) Apple's designation of WPA Enterprise equates to what others call the "old WPA" (or simply WPA) and what Apple calls WPA, others actually refer to as WPA-PSK (the newer WPA).

Hope you found a solution before now, but if not, try this:
Go into Settings, click on Wi-Fi and pick "Other" in the Network section.
Type your Network name in the name field (Caps do seem to matter), click on security and check WPA2.
Click the "Other Network" button to go back, input your password, click "Join".
You should now be good to go.

I reply to an email on my iPad. When I view the same email on the PC in MS outlook there is no indication that I have replied to it.
Is there an email app that I can use?
Has anyone found a solution for this?

This seems to be an annoying part of the newer OS.  When I first got my Pearl in 2008, I didn't have that occur.  However once the OS got upgraded, and now with the Tour, it seems like that is the way it works.  Not clear to me why they would have thought this is preferable.

  • Need a solution for integration BPM and UCM 11.1.1.4?

    Hi all,
Currently, I am using BPM & SOA 11.1.1.4.
Could somebody advise me a solution for integration BPM and UCM ?
I heard somebody said that need to wait to BPM 11G patch set 5 (11.1.1.6) version, which have basic BPM and UCM integration and haven't to using external API like RIDC or CIS.
    Thanks & Regards.
    Ming Nguyen.

Do not use prebuilt binaries, but compile the package from source with the current libudev.
    sha256sums=(SKIP)
    source=("$pkgname::git+https://github.com/rogerwang/node-webkit.git#tag=nw-v$pkgver")
to build it in the PKGBUILD, use nw-gyp i guess.

  • An SAP Solution for capital planning and Budgeting of Capital Assets?

Is there an SAP Solution for the Planning and Budgeting of Capital Assets?
A solution that provides planning, budgeting, and tracking for capital assets through the entire life cycle of each asset, from the initial request through the final disposal.
The solution needs to be able to run “scenarios.” A scenario contains equipment that may potentially be purchased. Scenario items are used to help determine cost, capacity, and cash flow feasibility.

    Hi
What you suggested is the ideal approach...
However, if they say that the budget allocated to capital purposes (70%) applies to both capital projects and expenses and they would like to control it together, but have reports separately, it is not possible with standard SAP...
If they want to have just one IO for both cap and exp, You can suggest them a work around to capture CAPITAL or EXPENSE in a ref field (XREF1 in BSEG) and you can run KOB1 with XREF1 displayed in it....
In standard KOB1, XREF1 is not displayed, you have to use Exit COOMEP01 to include the fields you want... Add XREF1 to the Structure CI_RKPOS and write your code in the include ZXKAEPU01 of EXIT_SAPLKAEP_001
Without an identifier @ the time of booking the transaction in the system (Either by way of IO or a ref field), you wont be able to generate reports later on

  • WLAN User Idle Timeout and WPA2-PSK authentication

    Hi,
There is a WLAN for Guest users with Session Timeout of 65535 sec and User Idle Timeout of 28800 sec. The WLAN uses PSK as Layer-2 authentication and Web Auth as Layer-3 authentication. Authentication source is locally created users on the controllers (LocalEAP) - can be RADIUS through ISE as well.

The wireless user on joining the WLAN enters the PSK and than gets redirected to WLC Web Auth portal for authentication. On successful login, the user is granted access. The issue is that despite Idle Timeout being 28800 sec (8 hours), the WLC removes the client entry before 8 hours if the device goes to sleep - mostly within the first hour. Tested this on Windows 7 notebook multiple times. When the PC is put to sleep, the WLC loses its record after some time. When PC wakes up, it has to undergo Web Auth again. Debugging the client MAC generates these logs - from initial association to final clearing.

If Layer-2 Auth (PSK) is set to "none" and only Layer-3 Web Auth is kept, then there are no issues. PC can wake up before 8 hours and not prompted for Web Auth again. As a test, I setup the WLAN with Layer-2 PSK auth only with Layer-3 auth set to none. The WLC removed the client entry after 25 minutes. Not an issue for PSK based auth only as PC on wake up seamlessly gets associated to WLAN.
Is User Idle Timeout setting not valid when WPA2-PSK is used as the auth method ?
    Thanks,
    Rick.

Thanks Scott, The code version is 7.6.130.0 which supports Sleeping Client feature. However, as per the docu "http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/7-6/configuration-guide/b_cg76/b_cg76_chapter_010111.html#reference_7008E6F7D7094BA7AD39491D7361622D"
The authentication of sleeping clients feature is not supported with Layer 2 security and web authentication enabled.
and as you mentioned as well
...Sleeping client like George mentioned is a better way than adjusting the idle timer but strictly for layer 3 only...
Sleeping Client wasn't an option in my case. That is why I was hoping that Idle Timeout may do the trick here. This is an actual case where a client with an existing wireless network just wanted to enable sleeping client feature so that their guests don't need to re-auth if their device sleeps or they go out (break) and come back after some time. Layer-3 Web Auth alone should be enough I think. Keeping L2-PSK is probably their security team's decision, as they also use the same SSID for BYOD devices and don't want nearby people/buildings to see that there is an Open Wifi available and on joining would see the Web Auth portal and company disclaimer.
George, I agree with Dot1X method. It can be used for the BYOD devices (separate SSID) while we can keep the Guest WLAN as L3-WebAuth only on controller (or do CWA through ISE if available).
    Thanks for all your help.
    Rick.

  • I HAVE FOUND THE SOLUTION FOR THE FIRMWARE UPDA

I'm sure most all of you have had this same problem I <strike>had:</strike> When you try to install the firmware update it says 'Plug in your player'!!? A very frusterating message mainly when your player is CLEARLY plugged in. So here's how I came about my solution!?I endlessly searched on this support forum, and I found that several people had found the solution several different ways!? Then other people have tried other's solutions, and it worked for some, but not all!?The forums have obviously pointed the problem at the computer, and not the player. They are halfly right, the problem isn't what you do on the player, but it's what they do to the player. I figured that there was something that the succesfull posters?did in the mean-time between posts that the unsuccesfull posters didn't do. It also didn't make sense, like others said was the problem, that it was Windows Media Player!? They said that you needed to roll it back, downgrade, to WMP 9 or 0. This made absolutely no sense to me because when I brought up WMP , and 0 for that matter, it recognized 'creative ZEN touch' under the 'synch' tab. After I found the solution, sorry for writing so long about how instead of just what it is: I just wanted to make it clear that this is the solution, I told my dad what it was!?He said that it made perfect sense because when my older brother tried to upgrade his firmware on his Dell MP3 Player, a message said that:It must be fully charged!?Beore you mess up your computer deleting all of these files and waste your time, try plugging your player into the wall at the same time it's plugged into the computer!? Then run your firmware update and bravo!? You are back in buisness!?Here is what to do in a little easier reading format:?. Plug your player into the wall.2. a. Plug your player into the computer.?b. (your player, at least my ZEN touch, should have the 'Docked' screen up. I'm not completely sure how this comes about, but I think that it'll appear that way while downloading the firmware update.)? If not, then try it anyways!3. Go to http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/?and search by product!4. Download the firmware update.?I hope that the moderators and admins find that this is, in fact, the solution!? Make this a sticky or something!? Your loss, not mine. :smileysurprised:

for all of you that fall in this...
sorry guys it was supposed to be a postponed April fools day joke!!
... i believe you will forgive this little silly joke of mine

  • A solution for getting QT and iTunes to install

OK, I have NO idea why this worked, but it did, and I haven't seen it in these forums, so I'm posting here in case it might help someone else. I couldn't get iTunes or QT standalone to install and spent many frustrating hours trying and posting messages here. I JUST got it to work by doing the following: I again deleted all Quicktime stuff from my computer by going into the Programs folder and also doing the regedit thing. I again disabled my antivirus and firewall software. I then again downloaded QT standalone. When it did its usual trick of the installer window disappearing down to the taskbar, I clicked on Start and then Shut Down. Got error messages, but then--voila--as if by magic, QT then completed installation. Hallelujah! I then successfully and uneventfully downloaded iTunes, which I am now taking for its maiden voyage. I found this solution in ilounge.com's forums, which Walt Mossberg recommended in his latest Wall Street Journal column. Praises and blessings be unto Walt and the ilounge poster!

Mysteriously fixed - plugged my iPhone in last night to listen to some music and noticed that something was Dow.oSing from iCloud - screen showed playlists when download was finished - all my Genius playlists were populated - not sure what happened but happy I have my playlists back on my phone.

  • Solution for printing black and white in acrobat

    Hi,
    Here was the problem :
I was trying to convert my colored pdf file to black and white but nothing was working. Others were having the same problem too (such as http://adobeforums.com/webx/.59b5454d ) and the topic was already archived so I could not post the reply.
I tried also to print as black (as it can be found at the bottom of the print button in the acrobat 8 ) but it just made my whole document black.
    So, the solution
TO convert your color pdf to black and white and save it as black and white pdf do the following (I am using acrobat 8 )
    1. GO to file > Print
    2. Choose pdf from the printer
    3. At the very bottom there is a button called "advanced" in the middle of "printing tips" and "summarize comments". Click the advanced button
    4. In the advanced option, under output - there is an option called color and the next to it is written "composite"
    Change it to "composite gray"
    5. press ok and it brings you back to the main printing window
    6. Now if you press ok it prints your file to black and white.
Hope this will help some people.

My biggest challenge is printing pdfs of schematic diagrams where color is used to signify "layers" in a drawing.  Hardest one to read is "yellow" on white for lines or text.
I found a solution, however it may apply to my specific printer only (Sharp MX-2300N).
From  the print dialog, select "Properties" next to the printer name.
From the priter properties popup, select the "Main" tab, and check "Black and White print".
From the "Color" tab, make these selections:
Color Mode:  Select "black and white"
Color Adjustment:  Check "Text to Black"
Color Adjustment:  Check "Vector to Black"
Other printers may have similar configuration options.

  • I need a solution for node-webkit and libudev.so.0

    Hello there!
I'm developing the package of node-webkit in the aur. Since the first time I had trouble with libudev.so.0. The first quick fix was to generate a symbolic link to libudev.so.1, but this is not the best way and can destabilize the system.
The symbolic link is the recommended workaround for this problem at the moment. I don't think there will be a fixed version in the near future. By reading the issues on the bugtracker of node-webkit I found a solution by using a start-script and rewrite the LD_LIBRARY_PATH. This variable is missing in Arch, so I thought, I can add a file into /etc/ld.so.conf.d/. It's not what I wanted, because the library is then globally accessible, but it works on my machine.
I think there must be a better solution. Best choice would be a shell startscript in my opinion, but I don't know how.
My own package of libudev.so.0 were be deleted with the comment: "it is not needed, you can just provide a symlink to libudev.so.1". One say this, another say whatever -.-0 It's annoying. I really want a solution!

Do not use prebuilt binaries, but compile the package from source with the current libudev.
    sha256sums=(SKIP)
    source=("$pkgname::git+https://github.com/rogerwang/node-webkit.git#tag=nw-v$pkgver")
to build it in the PKGBUILD, use nw-gyp i guess.

  • Airport Extreme with NTFS external HD solutions for both Mac and Windows

I recently bought an apple extreme when friends who have them say you can shared both printers and external harddrives really easily. However, it seems I am unable to share my many NTFS harddrives. I see after searching forums that it does not support NTFS but does FAT32.
One day I will convert all my home laptops to mac's but at the moment I am using XP and Vista for the time being so converting them to the apple format is not an option.
The problem i have is that if I convert them to FAT32 then I will only be be to have ISO's that are less than 2gig in size, an only be able to format up to 30 gig. If I have a 500 gig disk I'll be left with 470 gig of wasted space that cannot be used.
Can anyone suggest a good solution for me? perhaps someone has worked out how to format FAT32 greater than 30gb. or perhaps there is another disk format that would be better to use and can be read/write from XP/Vista PC as well as being recognised by Airport extreme. Any help would be good as I am reluctant to get a refund on it, but will have to if I can get it to work with large files/partitions.

I think I answered my own question. I found this on the web:
    http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?fat32format.htm
Seems to suggest that using this third party exe to format it instead of windows inbuilt one will allow for partitions greater than 32GB. So this looks the way to go. And the 2GB limit per file is just for FAT16 not FAT32 apparently, but even if it is I only have a few iso/video files bigger than 2 gig so will just use a splitter on them.
Hope this is useful to someone else

  • IPad use for both work and personal by leveraging multiple iCloud backups

I have an original iPad 1 that's my personal iPad.  Since I got an iPhone 5S over a year ago, I almost never use the iPad as it's so frustratingly slow compared to the 5S, and most of the most recent apps don't work on iOS 5.1.1.
I work for a small consulting firm where a large part of my responsibilities is business development.  2-2.5 years ago, I started occasionally needing an iPad for doing sales presentations of enterprise software.  So, I purchased and expensed a then cutting edge 4th Gen iPad.  For work purposes, I've always kept this iPad nearly completely empty except for essential software. In the past 6 months, I've needed this iPad less and less for said presentations.  I'm down to not even turning it on once a month, and have gone 3 months at a time without touching it.  That said, there's always a chance I'll find out that a week from now I'll need to fly somewhere and do a demo using it.
I was really hoping iOS 8 was going to enable multi-user support, but obviously it did not.  I'm now pondering the use of iCloud backups as an effective means of multiple user functionality when you don't have to switch user accounts very often.
My thinking is that I can make sure my personal iPad 1 is fully backed up to my personal 20GB iCloud account, and that the work iPad is fully backed up to the work iCloud account.  I'd then wipe the work iPad, log in to it using my personal iCloud account and let it restore from there.  At that point I'd be using the work iPad for personal use and would completely stop using the iPad 1.
If I found out I needed to demo using the iPad a week later, I would wipe the iPad 4 clean again, after which I'd log in to the work iCloud account, let it restore, and be good to go.  Once done the presentation, I could then wipe it, log back in to my personal iCloud and let it restore.
Every time I found myself needing to use the iPad for work purposes I would simply go through the above process.
    My questions are:
Are there are any holes in my logic?
Am I risking data loss on either the work or personal account?
I assume iCloud accounts can exist with backups intact even if no device is currently utilizing them?Is there any time limit to this?
Besides the time it takes to wipe and restore the iPad, are there any downsides to the above process?
Is there any reason I cannot wipe my iPad 1 and sell it/donate it?
    Thank you in advance.

Ah, MBA makes more sense.  Unfortunately, the point of demoing on the iPad is to explicitly show that the enterprise software is iPad compatible and what it looks like on it.  Everyone's a skeptic, so I definitely have to use the actual iPad and not emulation software.
As far as overwriting a backup, I would think that the only backups ever visible would be those for the account i'm currently logged in as.  I don't see how it's plausible then to overwrite any in the wrong account.  Again, these are 100% separate accounts that have nothing at all connecting them.  If it were possible, wouldn't the people who sell their iDevices on ebay be complaining about how the recipients deleted their iCloud backups.  I'm effectively transferring the device in the same way...just between by own 2 disconnected accounts instead of 2 humans with 2 disconnected accounts.
I don't really view it as a time drain, as when switching accounts I'd just "Reset all settings," and walk away.  I'd later log in as the other user, and would walk away again while the iPad just automatically starts loading everything up.  I'm not sitting there waiting for it, as this is merely a luxury device that I've never once had an immediate need for.  It's just a "nice to have."
Again, this transfer would likely only be happening once every 6 weeks anyway.  The majority of the time it would be set up on my personal account.
WiFi is no issue, as I'd only do this while at home on my 50/50 FiOS.  Again, I never "need" the iPad on my personal account such that waiting until I return home from a trip would be an issue.

  • Iphone 2G 2.0.1 using Linksys WRT54GL- found a solution for wifi problems

My iphone was unable to see my home wifi router .
After many many hours of changing the iphone and the router parameters I found a solution.
I switched the Wireless Network Mode to G-only and put an open DNS (208.67.222.222) on the list of static DNS in my router (setup/basic setup).
Now when iphone got an IP I removed from the iphone Wifi DNS list the other DNS numbers and left only the open DNS address.
I hope this solution will help someone else

Some of the problems people are having with connections has to do with the fact that for some reason they're either getting an IP address that's not in their subnet or not getting an IP address assigned at all. That was happening to me as well. What happens when you connect via ethernet is that you resolve that problem.
Hopefully Apple will come up with a permanent solution soon.

  • Hi, I have just purchased a ipad mini for my wife and have registered it in my name so that i can add some apps that i think she would appreciate. However if i want to contact her using face time it is registered in my name, how do you get around that?

Hi I have just purchased an i pad for my wife and have registered it in my name to add some apps prior to giving the i pad to her. However, for using face time and games where you can link via wifi it will look as though there are two of the same, if I am trying to link her ipad to mine. How do you get around this?

  • Solution for Slow Open and Save As Dialogs under 10.4.4

I don't know how many others out there may be experiencing this, but...
I noticed that -- after updating to 10.4.4 -- I started getting really long delays when accessing Open and Save As file dialogs -- I mean, sometimes it would take 5 to 15 seconds for the dialog to appear!
I did a lot of troubleshooting, and finally hit upon the solution a couple of nights ago:
    It's the Desktop iDisk!
Going into the .Mac Preference Pane and turning off "iDisk Syncing" has totally eliminated the slowdown.
I think it has something to do with DiskMirrorAgent, since that has frozen on me a couple of times and prevented logoff until I force-quit it.
    'Hope this helps.

    Hi Matt,
One can always manually mount the iDisk when needed, and it still syncs, albeit in real time, and kind of herky-jerky.
As for the slowdown when multiple items are mounted, I believe I'm describing a different issue, related to DiskMirrorAgent. If and when you get this slowdown (with desktop iDisk syncing enabled), check Activity Monitor, and you'll see DiskMirrrorAgent sucking up most of the CPU time for the time it takes before the dialog appears. My record time was about 25 seconds.
As for slow Open and Save As dialogs when multiple items are mounted: I customarily have several external FireWire drives mounted, and often a couple of CDs and/or DVDs (I produce a radio program, and have several optical drives), and I have had no Open or Save As dialog slowdowns since at least 10.3.x, maybe earlier.
Even when the dialog opens to a directory on a CD that has spun down, the opening time on an Open or Save As dialog is nearly instantaneous for me, suggesting that Mac OS X 10.4.x is doing a good job of caching the data.
But I hear you about the "old days," when it used to take forever to get a dialog to appear, just because a CD was mounted! Maddening!
