Frameset in portal?

I took an existing jsp with a <frame> and <frameset>'s and put it in a portlet.
Nothing showed up.
Is this supposed to work or do the <frameset> url's get confused because they
are in a porlet?
Is there a working or special tag?
thanks,
gr

You can have only either a <body> or a <frameset> in HTML. Since the
portal framework outputs a <body> tag by default, you can't use <frames>
in a portlet with the included skeletons.
You can try <iframe>s inside of portlets (look on
http://www.w3schools.com/ for more help).

  • How can i add a new link to Portal favorites?

    Hi,
I have created a portal application and configured it to a porta frame work page byy adding iViews and portal pages.
I would like to display an iView as a link in the  portal favorites. I have added it to portal favorites as related link. But nothing is displayed in the portal favorites when i logged in as application user.
How can i add a link to the created iView just like  the "DeveloperContent" link shown in portal favorites when we login as portal administrator?
    Your help and suggestions solicited...
    Best regards,
    Sudheesh

    Hi Sudheesh,
The Related Links option is for Content Administrators to add links that they think will be useful for a certain page or iView...an end user can't add their own links to the Related Links iView. Also, you don't need Knowledge Management installed in the Portal for the Related Links iView to work. Also, Related Links will be available only on the pages/iViews that the Content Administrator has created them.
Read more about Related Links here:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/e3/1d37600aa111d7b84700047582c9f7/frameset.htm
Portal Favorites is a nice option for end users to decide which iViews or pages they would like to be available from every Portal page.
To open new iViews/pages in a new window, rather than in the current Content Area, adjust the Workprotect mode of the portal (either the user can do it for their preference or the Administrator can do it for everyone):

    Niki,
    The documentation says that
The Portal Favorites iView contains a freely definable list of links for direct access to items that you use regularly. This can include the following:
&#9679;     Portal pages and iViews that run as full-page applications
&#9679;     Documents, folders, and other items in KM repositories
&#9679;     External items, such as Internet pages
So we can't do it for Roles.
    For detailed information see <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/3a/d609e5803111d5992f00508b6b8b11/frameset.htm">Portal Favorites</a>

  • How Sap SDN do it? -  navigation change Portal URL

    Hi:
If you check SDN home page you´ll see that almost every link changes the url site but the content is display in content area ( do not change the page completly). I was wondering how that could be done as my EP has always the same URL.
    I checked:
    URL Generator Service
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/7d/236cfa17034a37a439dc392ec59eb0/frameset.htm
    Portal URL Aliases
    Portal navigation
    and ECPM stuff
I´m not quite sure if there´s a configuration at Visual admin/Portal that enables this behavior.
Thanks a lot for your time on this thread.
    Rocío.

We can also create a unique url for every page or iview.
There is a property called Quick Link  which exists for every page/iview
Let us say open a page  as object and set the Quick Link property as 'abc'
Then you can access that page directly from the url  // http://<yourhostname>:<portno>/irj/portal/abc
hope it helps you to some extent.

  • Formalised user creations in Portal

How do I create users (already existing database users) in Portal 3.0 based on existing users?
For instance if we want 600 users to use a site (an Intranet) in personalised way (so we cant use a universal user everybody can use), but dont what do create 600 (taking a whole week or so to create manually) users by hand then how do we do it assuming they already exist as database users?

    Hi Malik ,
For your scenrio there is no ready made iview but these things can be achieved easily .We can get these values from the api and EP database tables .On a low level you can refer to

  • Way to identify transactions accessed by user using portal

    Hi,
We are trying to obtain statistics of the transactions used by a user and frequency of use by the same user using the portal. We would like to obtain the user id and the transactions accessed.
Is there a table or a log created by the EP to capture the same or is there any option in the settings which can capture the info going forward.
We use EP to access BSP applications and ITS transactions.
Any information on the logging capabilites of EP is appreciated.

    Hi,
Check the link below on creating a portal activity report iView.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/fb/144120ea5b4e9c9385d493a578d6c9/frameset.htm
Portal activities are obtained from the following set of tables(I guess)
    WCR_AGGINFO
    WCR_USERNODSTAT
    WCR_USERSTAT
    WCR_WEBCNODESTAT
    WCR_WEBCONTENTSTAT
So you can write a custom code that could retrieve the values from the tables.
The activity report can be found under the system configuration under system administration in portal
System Administration -> System Configuration-> Service Configuration Editor
    Under Applications->com.sap.portal.activityreport.core-> Services->ActivityReport
    Hope this helps.

  • SAP/Portal system

Hi.....just wondering if anyone has, or knows of a resource where I can go to see a flow diagram in terms of how SAP/Portal is configured.  My terminology may not be the best, but I'm kind of looking for a schematic (like a car engine, and a diagram that shows how all the parts are assembled, except in this case I want to know how all of the SAP components fit together).  So, for instance, when someone logs into a web browser (or the SAP GUI), I'd like to see how the dispatchers come into play, ECC, as well the run-time instances, databases, and finally to the operating system.  Does a diagram exist showing how all of this is generally connected?  Or at the very least, a write up of what I've described......thanks for your help!
