This may seem like a silly question, but have you emptied the trash after deleting items from folders?
If so, download Disk Inventory X and let it scan your hard drive - it will show you where your space has gone.
Do not delete items at random here - the fact that something is taking up lots of space doesn't mean you should delete it right away.
Deleting items from your home folder is probably OK if you don't need them anymore, but if you don't recognize the files, post here first.

You can only locate your device when it is logged into iCloud and 'Find My Phone' is enabled, additionally the device will need to be switched on and connected to a wifi or cellular network.
Unfortunately, you cannot activate iCloud or 'Find My Phone' remotely. -
ITunes can't locate files, even though they never move.
My iTunes is set to copy new files to a dedicated music folder on an internal storage drive and to keep this folder organized. I have never moved this folder or edited anything within this folder.
Now, one day I start my iTunes and I'm greeted with thousands upon thousands of little exclamation marks telling me that iTunes can't locate the files. I made sure that the drive letter didn't change and that every file was still in there. There were too many songs missing to manually locate each song, so I highlighted my entire library and deleted it (while keeping the files, obviously). Several hours after re-adding my music library, everything was good and like it once was.
Not even a day later, I re-open iTunes to find that all the exclamation marks were back and that it could not locate any of my files again. This time I decide to go through all the steps properly by clearing the folder where the xml files are located, uninstalling iTunes, moving my music to an external hard drive and making sure there was no trace of iTunes left.
Ready to start again, I installed iTunes, set where I liked my files to be stored and set my other preferences (including "organize my iTunes folder" and "copy new files to iTunes Folder"). I then re-added my music and spent a day waiting for it to copy to the new iTunes folder. After this I deleted the folder that contained my originals and was left with a fresh install of iTunes and all my music was where I wanted it.
This worked for almost a whole month before thousands of songs went "missing" again. I simply don't know what to do. I can't keeping re-adding my library again and again because a few thousand songs went missing. Each time I do it, it just takes longer and longer and i'm sick of it.
Any help with my problem would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.Presumably the location of the iTunes media folder is still correctly set in preferences when this happens?
One thing you can do to investigate this is to select a track that can't be found and go to Get Info>>Summary tab.
This will show you where iTunes thinks it is and the name of the file. Now find the file in Windows Explorer and compare the location and file name are they the same?
A thing that occurs to me is that you have other software on your PC that is able to move/rename files. Do you have anything like that?
Windows Media player has a check box that allows the renaming of files in Options, it's worth looking for that. -
I tried to move my images (over 25,000) to an External Hard drive to open up some memory, hoping to make my computer run faster. It took three hours to move the images and I see them all in the mac's menus. However when I try to open them with iPhoto now, none appeared. and when I tried to import them back to the main HD they come in to iPhoto just fine, but not with the albums nor any of the massive organization i'd created in the original. this represents years of images, and I can't imagine that I'd have to recopy them into folders/albums again.
Terrance Devlin answered a similar question back in April of last year. He said to make sure the ExHD is formatted to MAC OS Extended (Journaled) and to move the library to the ExHD and then open iPhoto with the option button and select "Choose Library" from the resulting menu.
Command "I" tells me that the new drive is formatted correctly. I can't locate the "Choose Library" when I open iPhoto with the opt button.
First, I wondered if the application needs to be on the same drive as the Library. I sure would like to know if I can find out how to restore all the folders I had them in. Terrance's advice helped the user that had asked the question.

Hold down the Option key on the keyboard and open iPhoto. Keep the Option key held down until you are prompted to create or choose an iPhoto Library.
Click Choose Library.
Locate and select the iPhoto Library in its new location.

Below (in the link below) is what you should see when holding down the option key and opening iPhoto. Keep holding down the option key until this dialogue comes up. You want to select the Choose Library button.

My aperture library lives on an external hard drive that is corrupt and I can not locate the library. I do have it backed up with TM. How do I safely restore the library from TM to my laptop? I am using the newest version of aperture on my macbook pro.

How can I locate the drop down menu to select thumbnails for viewing my photos?
I am using Microsoft Windows Vista. I select Files> Get photos and Videos> From Files and Folders. I select my photos and In my views I have a choice of different size icons, list, details and tiles. The icons are a flower image. When I select an image to view it only appears as an extra large icon on the middle right side of the moniter. I would like to view the thumbnail of the photo bfore I bring to my organizer. The drop down menu doesn't have a choice for thumbnail.
Perhaps I need to supply more details. I am using PSE9. I haven't any problem importing the images into the Organizer as I just select the Icons and select "Get Media" or "Open" and they transfer over to the Organizer. I would like to see the image as a thumbnail not an icon when when making the selection. If I right click them, the Icon, and select open they will open in "Windows Live Photo Gallery".
The icons are now listed on the left side of the monitor about the right middle it states "Select A File To Preview". When I select a file (icon) a large file (icon) appears in that area and it should be a thumbnail of the image. Somehow I can't locate the drop down menu taht permits me to make that selection. I think it has something to do with my files being able to open in Windows Live Photo Gallery when right clicking and select Open. Is the drop down menu only available in Windows 7? -

When I plug my Ipod into my computer it shows all my songs on it as reloading onto the device,
and sometimes it can't locate the files or they are just gone. All my songs are in my Itunes library
on my computer, and I do have it in my settings not sync the Ipod with my computer so I can
manage the content myself. It has happened multiple times.
I have cleared my Ipod off as well as my computer, and put all the music back on without seeing
any improvement. And as of today when I tried again it shows some songs on there but with 3 copies
of the same song trying to upload onto my ipod. And have of my playlist where empty. I am getting

have downloaded iTunes 10.5 but after it downloads it vanishes and I can not locate the file anyway on my PC. I have done this a few times now. Any ideas?

You will need to select and sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent sync remains on the iPad, not including photos in a subsequent sync is how you delete them from it. -
I am using UPK developer 12.1.0 single user. My sofware has crashed and needs reinstallation. Please suggest how can I take back up of my source files. I am unable to open the application and i can not locate the library backup folder on my local machine.

in struts, i can leave some parameter in a resource file (such as "Application.properties")outside of my code,and get them in the "Action" class by the "getResource" method.
in my data access tier,i still want to use such a machanism but i can't use the "getResource()" method,for example,there is a ConnectionPool class,i want to read some parameters from a resource file ("param.properties") that is under the same directory as the ConnectionPool class,the following is the code snippet:

I have downloaded a music file through a downloader . But the file is not found in the captured in music player . How can I locate the physical location and move the file . I cannot do via itunes also .

It's unfortunate that your device has been stolen. You can report this to the police, but as has been answered before, if the device is restored you CANNOT locate it.
It probably is technically possible to track your device by the SIM; law enforcement will not waste their time doing so. Besides, the thieves have probably changed it anyway.
While unfortunate your iPad is gone, you really need to move on. -
I have created a safepoint onto another MBL successfully in last week... This week, I just want to open it and then make the update. But I can find the MBL device through the dashboard but can't locate the safepoint in it .. Can anyone give me a hand ???
I have a similar issue as of today. I have been creating safepoints since I got my MyBookLive 2 years ago. I connect a WD Passport to a WS TV live unit and it usually works well. Go to set up a safepoint tonight in the usual way and there's no safepoints whatsover. I noticed the drive rebooted over the weekend for no apparent reason. Where should I see this "_WDPROT" file? Running MyBookLive 02.43.09-038 : Core F/W I haven't installed the very latest firmware yet (hence why I was creating a safepoint).
