From 10.4.11 to 10.5

I have a Powerbook G4 with 1.67 GHz and 512 MB DDE SDRAM. And I want to install it from 10.4.11 to 10.5. Do you think my PC support and I have no problem? 10.5 can do my PC slower? And where can i get the dvd of 10.5? Please help and write a comment.

10.5 or later do not support Mac OS 9 Classic.  Your Powerbook would need a separate partition with 10.4 installed to continue to support Mac OS 9 Classic as it does not support booting into Mac OS 9.  An external Firewire drive with 10.4 installed that is a clone of your current 10.4 system will also do the trick if you currently have Classic installed.
Powerbooks do not support Boot Camp.  If you desire to run Windows, you'll have to find some hard to find discontinued software and live with extremely slow emulation that barely supports audio or video.

  • Three movies I bought from iTunes this morning do not show up on the 1st Gen AppleTV.

I understand some file formats are not compatible with AppleTV (1st gen) but these films were purchased directly from iTunes.  One would assume they are formatted properly to work on Apple equipment, yes?  Previously purchased movies show up on the AppleTV just fine, so I'm not sure what's going with these three.  They were from the $4.99 Sci Fi collection:  Enemy Mine, Dune and Terminator 2.  Oldies but goodies.  The iMac, where the iTunes Library lives is used to stream the content to the AppleTV, and everything that is in my Library appears to be available for streaming, except these three films.  Any advice?

I have now restored Factory Settings on the Apple TV. Looked promising until iTunes hangs everytime I tried to enter the podcast page of the sync options. And I get errors that my newest movies, created in Final Cut Pro X with the Share with 720p Apple Devices export settings are not compatible with Apple TV.
    Unbelievable.

  • Cannot send email from iPad2 with Shaw

    Hi there,
I have issues that I cannot seem to resolve:
I can receive from my shaw account but it sends all outgoing to the Outbox - I've double, triple cheked all incoming and outgoing servers - I even sat with my iPad next to my iMac to make sure everything matched.
it says  The sender address "myemailadrees.com" was rejected by the server. even though I recive ok.
    Help please??

I too have spend countless hours trying to get my iPad 2 to work with my Shaw email.  I FINALLY got it to work this morning after about 3 months of trying different "solutions".  Here is how I set my POP email account:
    Incoming mail server:
Host name:  shawmail.ed.shawcable.net (I live in Edmonton)
User name: my shaw email address without the @shaw.ca
    Password: my Shaw email password
    Outgoing mail server:
Host name:  shawmail.ed.shawcable.net (I live in Edmonton)
    User name: leave blank
    Password: leave blank
    Use SSL: off
    Server port: 25
This has worked so far for me, so hopefully it will work for others as well.  It seems like there is an lot of people on these forums going through the same frustrations.  I was able to set both mine and my wife's email accounts on my iPad.

  • Open Pages from Discoverer Report

    Hi,
Is there a way to invoke a webpage or even better, an oracle function (that links to forms or self-service) from a discoverer report row ?
for example, I want a report for employees where the person looking at the report will click on the employee name and is taken straight to the person details page for that employee.
    Regards.

    Hi,
You can create a link to a form function using fnd_run_function.get_run_function_url. You can create a calculation either in a view or using a calculated item in the EUL (you will have to map the get_run_function_url in the EUL to do this). You then set the content type property of the EUL item to FILE so that when the item is selected in the workbook it appears as a hyperlink.
Most forms in apps except parameters so that you can pass the employee id to the form and the form will open up with the employee record. For example, if you are using a seed HR person form you create a calculation,
    fnd_run_function.get_run_function_url(3494      -- PERWSHRG-404
                                         ,800       -- HR
                                         ,fnd_global.RESP_ID     -- caller's responsibility
                                         ,0        -- Business Group
                                         ,         -- Parameters
         'P_PERSON_ID='||TO_CHAR(person_id, 'fm9999999999999')||
         ' P_EFFECTIVE_DATE='||TO_CHAR(SYSDATE, 'YYYY/MM/DD'))Rod West

  • FCP video out from mini-dvi to video adapter

Is it possible to get the output of viewer / canvas from mini-dvi to video adapter for the external tv out.
    My configurations,
    Final Cut Pro 5.0
    MacBook
    Mac OS X 10.4.8
Mini-dvi to video adapter for external output of video
    Need to find the solution.
Please suggest your ideas to get things work.
    Expecting reply soon.

If you use the Matrix MXO, yes. You can use the DVI out to feed a NTSC/PAL monitor. This is one of the only ways to monitor HDV.
If you want to monitor DV (either PAL or NTSC), use firewire out to a DV/Analog converter and feed the Monitor from the converter.

  • Refreshing the Data from a embed view in a view container

    Hi everybody
I would like to know how can I do to refresh all data from a View with a view container the problem is:
that I have a window that has a view at the same time this has a view container.  The Main view brings the data of editable elements when I select one element of the main view the view container brings a list for that element (dependencies) but only the first time a choose an element loads the correct data, when I choose another one it brings the same old data and doesn't make the call for the wdDoInit() method.
    The question is:
How do I force the view to refresh all the data or call again the wdDoInit() method?
    Thank you for your help

    Aida,
Lets say you have two components C1 and C2 and you want method from C1 to be available in C2 then follow these steps:-
    1) Goto the Interface Controller of C1 and create a method there lets say doSomething
    2) Then goto C2. There you can see Used Web Dynpro Components --> Right click Add Used Component --> Give some name say C1Comp --> Click browse and select C1 --> Click Finish.
    3) Next goto Component Controller of C2 --> Properties --> Click Add and check if C1 is added. If not then select the checkbox and select OK.
    4) Now goto Implementation tab of C2 and lets say wdDoInit you can write following code:-
    wdThis.wdGetC1CompInterface().doSomething();

  • How can I disable sending from one Mail account?

Hello. I have a gmail account that I use to subscribe to various newsletters and accounts. So it's essentially a read-only account for me. But I too frequently accidently send mail from that account. Is there a way to prevent mail from being sent from that account?

I want to do the same thing as the OP.  I have tried making outgoing server none. And checking "always use this server so it prompts me to edit the message so that I manually select a different address to send from inthe drop down list. And selecting a different account for composing.  Actually, all my outgoing emails keep coming from the one account I am attempting to disable.  Got any other ideas?

  • How can I move applications from one account to a other ?

    Hi
I have a old account which I used on my iPad 1. Now I moved to the cloud and got a @me.com apple ID. This new account I use for my new iPad 3 and now I would like to move some Apps from the old account to the new. How can I do this ?
    Thx for help !

At this time you can't transfer apps or merge accounts. It has been rumoured that apple is looking at this as it's a bit of a pain. You have to use your old account with the iTunes store to access apps and then your .me account for iCloud and it's functionality but it works fine.

  • HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 Color MFP M575 - Can't scan from Windows

We recently purchased and installed an HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 Color MFP M575 to be used as a networked all-in-one solution for a number of offices. I have been able to get it set up on our network and have installed the appropriate drivers on the requested Windows 7 x64 machines, and network printing works perfectly. However, it seems that despite the fancy scanning features available from the all-in-one itself (scan to email, scan to a network folder, etc.), I can't find any way to do an old-fashioned scan from Windows.
I have installed the full software solution available on the driver download page for the device, and while Windows lists the device as a "Multi Function Printer; Scanner" it does not recognize it as an actual scanner. The built-in Windows Fax and Scan simply reports that no scanners are installed. The software installation did not include the HP Solution Center (which I am used to seeing from my experience with various other HP all-in-one devices) or any equivalent for direct scanning. The driver download page for the device does not include any separate scanning drivers, so I can't be certain if they were included with the full installation or exist at all. Some of our staff also use Adobe Acrobat to scan, and even that fails to recognize the MFP as a scanner.
We'll eventually be setting up the device to scan directly to a network folder, but we need a fallback while IT takes their time getting it set up; I can't imagine that the simplest option is not available at all. I must be missing something here, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: To add, I also ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor. Interestingly, it reports the device as a printer and only offers to "Fix Printing" without any sort of resolution for my scanning problem.

There is no change to this problem after 6 months since the last post. Put simply, and as stated in the previous posts, there is no way to scan a document and receive the image on your PC. If you are working with graphics for any length of time or want to create an image for inclusion as an image in a document or web page using this piece of equipment will not allow you to do so.
Great shame as every other function works well - it cannot be beyond the wit of HP to include a Windows application that enables you to scan an image, receive it in the software you are using at the time (e.g. Outlook, Word, Photoshop...) and use it in your work.
HP Printers several years older than this £1000+ Enterprise printer were able to do this simple job and have done so for a great many years. Just being able to use Microsoft's Fax and Scan would be start.

  • IPod Error Message: "The disk could not be read from or written to."

    Hello!
I was syncing my sister's video iPod (30GB) and this error message pops up "Attempting to copy to the disk. "SARAH'S IPO" failed. The disk could not be read from or written to."
I have restored it three times already, but once it starts putting the music and files back onto the iPod it pops up with that error message. I have updated to the latest version of iTunes and iPod software available. My OS is Windows XP.
Is this something serious? Will I be able to fix it myself or will I need to send it in to be fixed by Apple? Will that be expensive? We didn’t get the Apple replacement plan. D=
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. ^_^

  • [Guide] Install and run Windows 7/8 from an external drive without using bootcamp (works for late 2012 iMacs with 3TB drive)

This is a copy of a post from my blog, you can also Read it on my blog...
    Introduction
After I received my new iMac with a 3 TB Fusion Drive, I was disappointed when I realized that Bootcamp was not running on this model and prevented me from installing Windows on it. I wanted to take advantage of the powerful iMac hardware to play games but I couldn't.
There are a few ways of working around this limitation, but I found most of them quite complex and most of the time they required formatting the internal hard drive or repartitioning it and go for a brand new installation of Mac OS X. I was not comfortable with that.
But there is another way, and that is to install Windows on an external hard drive, using either USB or Thunderbolt. Personally I used a Lacie Rugged 1 TB drive that has both USB3 and Thunderbolt connectors. Both work very well.
This guide may interest you if:
You have an internal hard drive of more than 2TB and you can't run bootcamp at all (like late 2012 iMacs with a 3TB drive)
You have limited space or you don't want to dedicate disk space on your internal hard disk drive to a Windows installation
What this guide will make you do:
It will make you erase all your data from your external USB3/Thunderbolt hard drive
It will make you install Windows on your external USB3/Thunderbolt hard drive
It will make you install bootcamp drivers
What this will not make you do:
It will not make you modify anything on your internal Mac hard drive
It will not make you use or install the bootcamp assistant
It will not activate the Preference Pane for the default boot drive. You have to boot by pressing the ALT key to manually select your boot drive each tome you want to boot Windows.
    What you'll need
An external hard drive with a USB3 and/or Thunderbolt connector. This drive will be formatted so ensure you saved your files before going further. You can use either an SSD drive or a classic hard drive.
A Windows 7 or 8 install DVD or ISO (check whether to install 32 or 64 bits versions based on your Bootcamp drivers) and the corresponding Windows serial number.
    One of the following:
Mac OS X with a Windows 7 or 8 Virtual Machine (use VMWare Fusion or Parallels Desktop for example. Note: VMWare Fusion seems to have some issues with Thunderbolt and USB3. Plug your drive to a USB2 enclosure or hub to work around this -it worked for me-, or use another VM software) → Read the important note below
A PC running Windows 7 or 8 → Read the important note below
Windows AIK (free) running on your Virtual Machine or on your PC, or just the imagex.exe file (the rest of the Windows AIK package is not needed)
Download Windows AIK (this download and installation is not required if you have already downloaded imagex.exe)
Bootcamp drivers for your Mac. You can get these either by running bootcamp from your Mac (Applications > Utilities > Bootcamp) or, if like me you have a 3TB drive and can't run bootcamp at all, use the direct download links here.
A USB stick to store your bootcamp drivers
IMPORTANT: If your Mac has a 64 bits processor, your Windows Virtual Machine on OSX, your Windows installation on your PC and your Windows DVD/ISO must also be in 64 bits!
    Step by Step guide
Step 1: Get the install.wim file
If you have a Windows ISO file:
    Mount the ISO
If you're on OS X: double click on the ISO file
If you're on on Windows 7: Use a software like Virtual Clone Drive (free)
If you're on Windows 8: double click on the ISO file
Open the mounted drive, then go to the "sources" folder and locate the "install.wim" file. Save this file to C:\wim\ on your Windows installation or virtual machine.
If you have a Windows DVD: open the "sources" folder on the DVD and locate the "install.wim" file. Save this file to C:\wim\ on your Windows installation or virtual machine.
IMPORTANT: If instead of a "install.wim" file, you have "install.esd", you can not continue this step by step guide. And an ESD file can not be converted into a WIM file. So you must get a version of the Windows installation DVD/ISO that has an install.wim file.
Step 2: Clean, partition and format your external hard drive
On your Windows installation or virtual machine, plug in your external hard drive (can be plugged using USB2, USB3 or Thunderbolt at this stage)
Open the command prompt in administrator mode (cmd.exe). To run it in administrator mode, right click on cmd.exe > Run as admin.
Type the following and hit enter to open the disk partitioner utility:
diskpartType the following and hit enter to list your drives:
    list disk
This will display a list of disks mounted on your computer or virtual machine. Make sure your drive is listed here before you continue.Identify the disk ID of your external hard drive. Replace # by your real external disk ID in the command below:
select disk #Clean all partitions by typing the following (warning: this will erase all data from your external drive!):
    clean
Create the boot parition by typing the following followed by the enter key:
    create partition primary size=350
This will create a 350MB partition on your external driveFormat the partition in FAT32 by typing the following:
    format fs=fat32 quick
Set this partition to active by typing:
    active
Assign a letter to mount this partition. We will use letter B in our example. If B is already used on your PC, replace B by any other available letter:
    assign letter=b
Windows will detect a new drive and probably display a pop-up. Ignore that.Create the Windows installation partition using all the remaining space available on the external drive by typing the following:
    create partition primary
Format the new partition in NTFS:
    format fs=ntfs quick
Assign a letter to mount this partition. We will use letter O in our example. If O is already used on your PC, replace O by any other available letter:
    assign letter=o
Windows will detect a new drive and probably display a pop-up. Ignore that.Exit the disk partitioner utility by typing:
    exit
Step 3: Deploy the Windows installation image
Still using the command prompt in admin mode (you didn't close it, did you? ), locate the imagex.exe file mentioned in the "What you'll need" section and access its folder. In our example, we have put this file in C:\imagex\imagex.exe
Type the following and hit enter (remember to replace o: with the letter you have chosen in the previous step):
    imagex.exe /apply C:\wim\install.wim 1 o:
This will take some time. The Windows installation image is being deployed to your external driveOnce done, type the following to create the boot section (remember to replace o: and b: with the letters you've chosen in the previous step):
    o:\windows\system32\bcdboot o:\windows /f ALL /s b:
If you get an error message saying that you can't run this program on your PC, then most probably you are running on a 32 bits installation of windows and you're trying to deploy a 64 bits install. This means you did not read the important notes in the beginning of this guide
If you get an error message on the options that can be used with the BCDBOOT command, then it's because you're installing Windows 7, and the /f option is not supported. If that is the case, remove /f ALL from the command and retry.
Step 4: Boot from your external drive and install Windows
    Plug in your external drive:
If you've done all the previous steps from a Windows PC, unplug your external drive from your PC and plug it to your Mac, either on a USB3 or a Thunderbolt port.
If you've done all the previous steps from your Mac using a Virtual Machine, ensure the external drive is plugged in to a USB3 or Thunderbolt port. Using USB2 should also work but you'll get very poor performance so I don't recommend doing that.
Reboot your Mac and once the bootup sound is over, immediately press the ALT (option) key and release it only when the boot drives selection screen appears. If you did not get the boot drives selection screen, reboot and try again. The timing to press the ALT (option) key is quite short. It must not be too early or too late.
On the boot selection screen, choose "Windows" using the arrow keys on your keyboard, then press enter.
The Windows installation starts. Follow the on-screen instructions as normal. The installation program will restart your computer one or 2 times. Don't forget to press ALT (option) right after the bootup sound, and boot on Windows again each time to continue the installation.
    Step 5: Install bootcamp drivers
Once the Windows installation is complete, plug in the USB stick where you stored the bootcamp drivers (see "what you'll need" section), open it and right click on "setup.exe" and select "Run as admin". Follow the on-screen instructions. If you have an error saying that you can't run this program on this PC, obviously you have installed a 32 bits version of Windows and the bootcamp drivers for your Mac are made for a 64 bits version. You have to restart the whole guide and make sure to get a 64 bits version of Windows this time!
Once the bootcamp drivers are all installed, reboot and press ALT (option) after the bootup sound to boot on Windows again. And Voilà, you have Windows installed on your USB3/Thunderbolt drive running on your Mac.
Now each time you want to boot on Windows, press and hold the ALT (option) key after the startup sound and select "Windows", then press Enter.

Hi i'm trying to follow your guide, I installed windows 8 on bootcamp to do it planning to remove it after the operation is done, but i get stuck at part 3: every command i give to imagex i get a pop-up ftom windws asking how do I want to open this kind of file install.wim and imagex does nothing, what do i have to do to stop those pop-ups?

  • I have formatted my SSD and hard drive.... I am running a clean install from disk of 8.1 pro. I cannot determine if it is a compatibility

issue or hardware issue. I had run a memory test and scan disk for bad sectors from the bios. As administrator, I enabled automount  in diskpart to allow windows to assign a drive name.
From the bios, I can see both drives and only the ssd. I have not pinpointed when the harddisk is unmounted. It is formatted as NTFS. I can hear it unmount either during boot or upon waking from sleep mode. The bios sees no bad sectors nor does windows.
However, when I had the intel compatibility software installed, my hard drive never mounted. I did a restart and inorder for windows to see my hard drive. I disabled the intel software for the 4th gen i7 processor. This problem is happening less often. I do
not think I have solved the problem. Intel or Windows... I think a bit of both.
If there is a software patch, please guide me to it. I am in school and use my laptop ALL the time. I believe it is a compatibility issue. I have attached this from searching intel's site for downloads and windows is up to date.
I am quite concerned because I can hear my harddrive unmount. It is labeled as healthy NTFS partition. I have checked for hidden volumes and done everything I know to do to check the integrity of the hardware as administrator. I have searched microsofts
libraries and forums and have done everything I can find as suggestions.
I have checked for malware, viruses, etc. My only clue this is going to happen is the hard disk spins up and I hear the fan, then I hear it unmount the drive. Of course, after unmounted there are other issues which I have ruled out as the cause of the problem.
Basically, I am experiencing a lack of swap space after my hard drive unmounts.
Any suggestions, are welcome! I would really like to know if this is a known windows issue. I should not have to disable intel's processor software. I paid for the features of the i7 and would like to utilise the processor.

    Hi,
According to your descriptioin, I don't think this is system problem, it should be Intel driver problem. It would be contact Intel to confirm this issue whether this is their driver problem.

  • How do I install all my old programs and data from an old system folder after I have reinstalled the same OSX system after a crash?

The system is OSX10.5.8 Leopard on a 2009 imac. A new system was installed from the installation disks and the original system saved to a folder.
I need to use my Adobe programs, rescue my email, i-tunes and iphoto data.  The disk utility indicates that my Time Machine back-up disk is damaged and I don't want to take a risk of having Time Machine erase my hard drive and try to reinstall the exact system existing at the time of the crash.  There was over 650 gb of stored files that I was copying and removing from the drive at the time it crashed. The total size of the original system file is still about 650 Gb.
I would prefer to go back in Time Machine and only rescue the programs as most of the files have been copied to external hard drives, but I can't access the back-up hard drive from the new version of the Time Machine.  Or by I don't want the Time Mchine to start copying the new operating system which would include all the data in the old system file. Time Machine was working fine at the time of the crash.

No, the disk was backed up with time machine a few hours prior to the crash.  I was unable to open the computer when I tried to restart it- got a grey screen with the spinning disk- after a few minutes the screen would go black and would reboot continuously, but not load any images or programs. I started the computer from the 10.5.4 installation disks and checked both the time machine external hard drive and the Imac internal drive with the disk utilities. Both showed as damaged --the internal drive and permissions were repaired, but the external drive (time machine back-up)  was damaged and not repairable by disk utilities. I don't believe that the external drive for Time Machine was connected to the computer at the time of the crash as I was copying files to a different hard drive drive. And I was not having any problems with the TM back-up drive prior to the crash.
I accessed the Imac internal disk by firewire (as a target disk) and copied as many data files as I had room for on my external hard drives available.  And I deleted quite a few files from the imac internal drive (mostly just jpegs, duplicate tifs, etc--nothing that was used by i-photos, i-tunes or the Mail program).
Then I installed a new OSX10.5.4 system from the installation disk and the old system was moved to a folder on the hard drive.  I previousy had had the option to reinstall the complete system from Time Machine when I connected that drive and booted with the installation disks with the C key depressed.  But it didn't seem like a good option because I was unsure of the condition of that external disk and whether it would be able to reinstall my data correctly, once it had erased my internal hard drive.
I'm considering buying some new external hard drives and backing up the present system to time Machine (so I'll still have my old data in the old system folder).  And then I would try using the old Time Machine back-up to try to reinstall the sytem previous to the crash.  That back-up would reinstall about 700gb of data and operating software and programs which sounds like a lengthy back-up.  Since I have never used Time Machine to do a full reinstallation (I've only used it for individual files), I'm reluctant to do anything rash.
I'm a professional designer (with a deadline) but I can still use my Illustrator and Photoshop by opening them from the old system folder and saving the files to an external drive.  So it's not neccessary to do anything hasty except to delete some of the excess art and document files that were causing the computer to run slowly and the  Adobe programs to crash when I tried to save my work. I have quite a few books on tape in the i-tumes folder which is probably talking up tons of space but I don't where the i-tunes files live.
    Thanks for any help. Peggy
