From analog VCR to pinnacle using video-in

I do not get a signal from my vcr. I'm using pinnacle but struggle to connect my vcr to my laptop. Can anyone help please! I'm using a G30-163 laptop.

I presume VCR is video cassette recorder and if you want to record old movies to Qosmios HDD you can connect it directly without any additional external hardware. I have tested it with my Qosmio G20. I have connected it to Qosmios antenna port and started Qosmioplayer. I have started to scan for the channels and suddenly the recorded material was shown in Qosmioplayer.
I have try to use Qosmioplayer rec option and later Qosmioplayer tool to import recorded material into Windows. Those mpeg files I have edited with Ulead Moviefactory and created DVDs.
You can also test it with Media Center. Scan the channels. Try to use MCE recording option.
By the way: what is the solution given by Pinnacle?

  • How to fix audio  of a video captured from DV output of camcorder using Adobe Premiere Elements 8?

    Hello,
    I purchased Adobe Premiere Elements 8 about one week ago.  I installed it and everything seem to work well in my first project.  I am new at editing videos but I was succesful in testing it by loading an existing video file in avi format from my computer and then doing some very basic editing (I splitted 2 scenes and added a title).
    After my first succesful project (described above) I started a brand new project. Here, I want to capture a one hour video  from the dv output of a video camera. So I connected the camera to the PC and then started adobe elements 8.  Before starting the capture I only checked the boxes that said "capture video" and "capture audio" (the other 2 boxes that said download to timeline and autoanalyze were left unchecked).  After that I started the capture process.
    After the video capture was completed, a small window opened at the bottom saying that a PEAK FILE was being generated.    After the peak file generation finished, I looked at the captured video.  The video looked perfect.  However the audio of the video was too fast. By this, I mean that the voices of the people in the movie were like they were speaking at more than twice the normal speed.  Or to explain it in a different way, they sounded like the  chipmunks.
    So now I come to the question of this thread I started.  Is there a way that I can fix the audio part of the video I captured?  I will appreciate any help on this. Below I listed a few additional details in case this is needed.
    Thanks,
    ronel_8
    PS.  Here are some more details about my system:
    1) Operating System: Windows XP
    2) I am capturing the video on an external drive with 40 GB of available space. The external drive is connected to a PC via a USB connection.
    3) Computer CPU: 2.4 GHZ
    4) Computer RAM: 1.25 GB
    5) Video tape is about one hour long.

    Hello Bill and Steve,
    Your responses are very helpful.  Although I was not able to fix the problem yet I do seem to think from what you both say that my system may be too slow to capture the one hour video. In any case I will copy below more details about the system as you requested:
    1) Results from running Gspot:
    The audio section of the Gspot window was blank. That is, no information was there.  The File and Container sections say:
    File Size: 12.6 GB
    Note: 7.63 GB unneeded bytes at the end of the file
    DV Type1 AVI
    2) I did run the Gspot on another good avi file (captured to the PC with same camcorder) and says:
    Codec PCM Audio
    32kHz 1024 kb/s tot (2 chnls).
    I suppose these are the audio settings from the camera.
    3) Yes, I am capturing video from a miniDV camcorder (JVC GR-D70U).
    4) I did not defragment the external drive prior to capturing the video with the audi problem.  So I will give that I try and see if it solves the problem.
    5) The external drive I am using is formatted to NTFS.
    6) The computer is a Dell Dimension 2400, CPU: 2.4 GHZ, RAM: 1.25 GB
    7) HDD Size=74GB and 11 GB of free space.  But I am downloading video to external drive that has 60 GB free space.
    One last piece of information that may be useful.  If I open the AVI file (that I captured with Adobe Premiere Elements) with Windows Media Player, the audi sounds good.  However if I open it with Adobe it has the problem I mentioned in my previous e-mail.
    I'll aprreciate any further hints.
    Thanks again,
    ronel_8

    how can i stream video from mac os x 10 using roku to my tv?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
    OS X can't write in NTFS disks. If you want to write in NTFS drives, you have to use a third-party app like Paragon for NTFS, being this application the best one to write in those disks.
    Another option is to format the external disk in FAT32 or exFAT on a PC, so you will be able to read and write in Macs and PCs without having to use third-party apps. Do it on a PC and copy the files of your external drive to the internal disk first

    Hi,
    do anyone using video from Web Gallery in iWeb? will it a better way than just drag and drop from the Media itself?

    The following thread is about someone who started out with his videos in iWeb itself, but later found it better to instead link to a MobileMe Gallery — read particularly his last post here:

    And in reply to one of your threads, I indicated how much faster a video displays from MobileMe Gallery than it does from iWeb:

    dear sir i made a video to my brother in his wedding day from his photo and i use a song i buy it from itunes as a soundtruk , can i use this video in the facebook

    No. Tracks you purchase from the iTunes Store are for your personal use only and cannot be posted, either separately or as part of a video or slide show, on any public web site or otherwise distributed to others in any way. You can't even legally give that video to your brother.

  • Transferring video from a HD camcardor that uses a SD card.

    I need help, I have an iMac and I would like to transfer my video from my new HD SD card video camcorder to imovie. When I try the video is broken into photo clips. How can I transfer all of the video footage from my SD card in my imac's imovie?

    Hi Mary - no worries about responses.
    I am no expert about handling the AVCHD format, nor using OS10.7. Under OS10.6 I have not had a problem when I copy the whole PRIVATE folder containing all the subfolders. Because the AVCHD format has a specific encoding system and folder structure, the programs used to read and/or edit AVCHD material need to have all the folders to have enough data to put the whole movie together. I think Panasonic has a program used specifically to handle AVCHD movies and convert them into more familiar formats. Final Cut has similar capabilities (at least FCP did). I believe the current OS10.7 version of Quicktime Player can play AVCHD and likely needs the whole folder system, too.
    The short answer is that you can do an ordinary copying routine, but copy the whole Private folder and everything inside it, to get the whole movie and all the data that the import/conversion programs need to assemble the whole movie. I would copy that into a new folder with the name you want for the movie.
    There are actually movie clips deep inside the inner folders, but they are in a special format and a long movie is split up into (I think) 2GB segments to conform to a filesize limitation.
    You may need to ask an AVCHD expert the best workflow, once you determine how you intend to handle the movies - for example, if you intend to import into an editing program, or perhaps you just want to convert them into a more convenient, ordinary format like .mov.

  • How to read data from analog input and export it to a file using Components Works

    I've made a simple application (Delphi 5 using the activeX) that read data from analog input channel 0. After I read the data, I want to export it to a file using the Components Works on a 6035E NIDAQ. (I'm not using labview and don't want to use it)
    How can I do that???
    Regards,
    Francis

    Here's a sample code to do this...
    P.S.: If you read only one channel this code won't work.
    function MyFunction: Integer;
    var
    Low, High, i, j, ChannelCount, RowCount: Integer;
    Po: P;
    begin
    //you are reading multiple channel
    ChannelCount := VarArrayHighBound(Buffer, 1);
    RowCount := VarArrayHighBound(Buffer, 2);
    for i := 0 to ChannelCount do begin
    for j := 0 to RowCount do begin
    WriteToDisk(Buffer[i, j]));
    end;
    end;
    end;

  • Using USB-8451, and AD7747 from Analog Devices to measure capacitance and convert the capacitance to digital output

    Hello,
    I am new to LabView and data aqusition. I have LabView 8.5.1 installed on my laptop, and I studied the Getting Started document of LabView, except the data aqusition chapter.
    I have microfabricated a differential capacitive sensor, and now I want to test the capabilities of my sensor.
    After asking NI engineers, I have been suggested to use USB-8451 with AD7747 (24-Bit Capacitance-to-Digital Converter) from Analog Devices because AD7747 has I2C serial interface.
    I have ordered USB-8451, AD7747, and Evaluation Board for AD7747. And I am waiting for them.
    Are there any suggestions about how to connect my differential capacitive sensor to AD7747, and eventually to USB-8451?
    You may want to know some further information to answer my question:
    *The sensor is similar to the sensor on pages 501, 514, and 515 of "Microsystem Design" book from author Stephen D. Senturia.
    *The datasheet for AD7747 can be reached from this link: http://www.analog.com/static/imported-files/data_sheets/AD7747.pdf
    *My purpose is to make a very precise and accurate "displacement measurement micodevice" by using "the change in the capacitance" during the motion of the mobile fingers of the sensor.
    As an initial challenge for myself, I will feel satisfied if I can measure the capacitance change in my sensor when I apply an external mechanical disturbance to my sensor. For example, there must be a change in capacitance if I just swing my hand from top of the sensor region.
    I am looking forward for your reply,
    Thanks in advance,
    Sincerely,
    sriverfxtr

    Hi Aaron,
    Here you go, this is made with a USB-8452.
    When you run the code tick the power en dac enable box on.
    Maybe you can help me with my problem, I want to use a fiber to sense light from a led.
    Do you use any fiber hardware with the TCS3414?

  • Trying to transfer from a VCR...

    I have a vcr hooked up through ElGato eye TV 250 and have recorded clips to my harddrive. According to iMovie, it can accept any format. well, guess what...it doesn't. A quicktime error comes up...the error is as follows...
    The file could not be imported: The file “Macintosh HD/Users/Documents/EyeTV Archive/Live Recording - 4/3/07 12_58 AM.eyetv” can’t be imported; QuickTime couldn’t parse it: -43
    This doesn't look like being able to accept any format to me. The tutroial, from what i've seen, doesn't address recording from a VCR.
    If anyone can help. it would be greatly appreciated. I have a ton of video to edit and create.
    Thank you.

    welcome chrono to the  boards of discussions...
    any format.. huh..? no:
    iM is a DV-editor, meant to import lossless from firewire connected miniDV devices, by using the same codec, 'dv'...
    due to the underlying Quicktime engine, iM 'swallows' some other (audio, video, still) codecs.. but not 'any'... the QT error -43 let us guess, it is somekind of mpeg...
    the suffix of your file, you're trying to import, 'xxx.eyetv', is telling us, it is a proprietary format of your converter device..
    I'm not familiar with these products, afaik, they come with some software, which allow an 'export'... if that export allows diff. formats, choose 'dv-stream'... if 'mpeg(2)' is the only option, you need to convert that with additional software (mp2 plugin (Apple, 19$)+ Mpeg Steamclip (free, www.suqared5.com) ...

  • Doubts about quality loss from analog to DV.

    Hi, friends. Can anyone help me clarify this doubts, please?
    From analog media to miniDV tape to iMovie DV file, is there any quality loss? If the answer is yes, in which step does the loss happen? In the analog to miniDV or in the miniDV to iMovie DV file or in both steps?
    Resulting quality of imported analog footage to iMovie DV file is the same using either the above technique or the pass through technique that skips DV tape use (8mm camcorder media send to Mac through miniDV recorer)?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi onClick,
    inside your mini-DV camcorder, some chips do the converting "on the fly" - from that moment, you realize no loss, because then, everything is digital, 000 and 111.- so, you shouldn't realize any difference by taping or pass-thru.
    in technical terms, DV has a much better quality then analog, but, for sure, any conversion is lossy. DV has a high compression rate, compared to what is done in a professional studio . but for the normal John Doe as us, you will not recognize any loss in quality after converting.
    besides: never judge the quality of the pic on your Mac's screen! computers and tv-sets have very different techniques in displaying video! you can just judge pic quality after playout on tape/tv....-
