From iPad to android tablet

Hi,
I just finish  my first iPad only app ( after a few iPhone app). I intend to create an android version.
Do I just change settings in flash an upload it to android market ? or do I have to make some change... (stage an so on )
If someone have some expérience in this issue
Thanks.

If you kept different screen sizes in mind when you were building the app then its just as easy as you described it. You will need to get an android certificate but its easy as pie and all done right there in flash.
If however you designed the app to fit just right into 768x1024px dimensions then you have a whole lot of work in front of you not to mention android tablets are all different sizes too, the original galaxy Tab looks to be 600 x 1024 and the new galaxy tab is close to an ipad in dimensions where the motorola Xoom is 1280x800 so its a lot to keep track of.
Hope that helps a little.

What is your opinion about the performance of digital magazines in each of the devices? Which one to choose for this purpose?
    Thanx.

    Performance: definetly the iPad.
Content viewer on android is a bit sluggish (as are all apps compared to
    them on the iPad)

  • Can iPad or Android tablets reply to forum questions?

Can the iPad be used to write replies to forum questions?
I ask because I have been using an Android tablet recently and though it can be used to input text into browser etc. text fields, it stubbornly refuses to reveal its keyboard when I try to respond to forum questions.
I don't know whether it is a fault with my device, user error or whether iPads and other tablets just can't be used for this purpose.

It completely depends on the specific forum/post you are thinking about.
As stedman1 pointed out, the mobile versions of browsers (i.e., iPad safari, etc.) are almost always limited with respect their desktop versions. For example, if your forum uses flash to post messages, you will never be able to post a message using an iPad at this moment since iPad does not support flash.
That being said, the web has started to be more mobile (and getting more in each day). Most of the websites (and forums) have either dedicated mobile web versions, where they make sure that you can access all information as you were in a normal computer. If that does not work, they even create dedicated apps (there are iPad apps for some webpages) so that you can post/explore the webpage through the app.
Also, one final (and maybe not yet good solution) is to use cloud browsers. The idea with these browsers is that they run on servers and transmit the webpage back to you as images. Your actions (click, keyboard input, etc.) are also captured and transmitted back to the server. This way, you can emulate a real desktop browser on your iPad, which will have the same limitations (or unlimitations) as a desktop browser.
If you have a specific webpage, etc. in mind, just tell us and we can check on your behalf.

  • HELP WANTED: I wanna buy an iPad or Android Tablet, but IDK which one to buy...

So I am expecting my tax refund in a week or 2 & I wanna buy an Android Tablet, but I am kinda computer/tablet stupid & I have no clue which one to pick...  Specific things I want in an Android Tablet include the following:  Android 2.3 or newer, touch screen, Micro SD card slot & good battery life are all my must haves!!!  Additionally, if possible, I would prefer a White Android Tablet over a Black Android Tablet!!!  I am a T-Mobile employee, I work @ their customer service center/inbound call center in Portland, Oregon.  My expertise is cell phone activations, new customer activations/sales/upgrades, tech support & billing.  I am very unknowledgeable when it comes to the iPad & Android Tablets.  If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated!!!  So far I've narrowed down my tablet selection to the Sony Tablet S, Asus Transformer Prime, iPad 2 & Asus Slider...  Suggestions???  A little insight help please!!!  Thanks so much:-)

Keyboard is not hugely important, however it would be nice, I can type very well on a tablet, so keyboard is not a must...  Micro SD card & Android 2.3 or higher is an absolutle must!!!  Cameras of at least 5MP would be nice as well.  I've done a little research since I posted this & iPad 2 is officially off my list.  Asus Slider, Sony Tablet S & Asus Transformer Prime are what I'm looking at as of now.  As far as screen goes, I want a larger screen if possible.  Flash websites I also want access to.  When it comes to sound, I listen to alot of music, I am in my 20's so I'm kinda a partier & I like loud music, so something with a high level of audio & vidoe sound would be great!!!  I personally own an Android cell phone, the HTC Sensation with T-Mobile, I have had Android cell phones since the very first day the HTC G1 phone came out, the HTC G1 was the very first Android phone ever put out by any cell phone carrier.  I absolutely do love Android so very much!!!  Based off of all of this, what do you recommend or suggest???

  • Scanning prob from Envy 4502. to Android tablet

When I try to scan from printer to Android tablet it comes up Computer not Found. Install Printer Software.I have got HP Remote All in One app and  eprint app installed. On my settings it shows the plug in app and the printer name and model. What else do I need to do to get this to scan from front panel of printer to tablet???
When you open the all in one app on tablet it will say scan on screen and then when you press it the printer will scan it to tablet but you cannot size it correctly (when you put A4 size in settings on tablet it still comes up too small to read. HELP me pls as I am quite new to all this. Thanks.

    Hi,
Firstly you can't scan from your printer to your tablet, you have to scan from your tablet. Please touch the "wheel" at the top right corner and change dpi to say around 200 and try again.

    Hi,
You can use Printshare app on your tablet. I believe you have to pay a small amount for it:

  • EPUB exported from InDesign works on iPad and not on Android tablets

I've edxported several similar books to EPUB from InDesign CS5, using the same technique each. After exporting from InDesign, there's a lot of tweaking of the HTML code and some changes to the content.opf and toc.ncx, but the finished product for all of the books works fine on iPads but some do not work on Android tablets. There are six separate InDesign documents in each epub book...three small, one large, and then two small. Some of the books work fine on Android tablets, but for some of them, the first three documents show up fine, but when one advances to the large document, the book closes. There's no error message. Any ideas what the problem might be? Are there size limitations for documents on Android machines?

As you have found out - it doesn't work.

  • Connect to my 10.6 mail server from an android tablet

I have an Samsumg Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 (Android 4.0.1) tablet and I need to set up my email for my business on it. I have it set up fine on my iPhone and iPad and desktop (Mac and Windows both), but when I try to set it up on my Android tablet it either says the username or password is incorrect (I am positive it is not) or it cannot contact the server. I've about pulled my hair out trying to figure out which setting is messing things up, but on the tablet the choices are few, so I'm about at a loss. The only thing I can think of is that there is no option on the Android to use MD5 challenge/response for authentication. If that were it, why would it say "Incorrect username or password"?
I know this isn't an Android forum, but it IS an Apple email server. Any peculiarities I might be overlooking might be the problem, so that is why I ask here.

There is nothing unique, special or weird going on here, there is only the usual slog of figuring out what an individual mail client requires and offers, and what the mail server provides and can offer, and aligning the two within your local expectations and needs.
OS X Server uses standard Unix mail server tools.  Postfix and Dovecot.  And again, there is nothing special, weird, or unique here.
Check your mail server logs for details around the connection failure.  Assuming you see the connection error arriving, of course, and that's a clue in itself.  You'll want and need to look at both the IMAP or POP logs, and the SMTP logs.
The usual triggers are the firewall settings, the particular required ports for your mail server configuration, whether SSL is used or not, and possibly the encoding of the credentials.
Check with the Android client settings, with the Android documentation, and possibly then with an Android forum around what your particular client requires, when connecting with Postfix and Dovecot tools.  (These are standard Unix tools, so I'd expect there are Android-specific discussions around the network.  Here's one discussion, though the trigger for what that Android user encountered is probably a firewall block against outbound TCP port 25 connections from random boxes — boxes that are not known mail servers — that is increasingly implemented around the 'net.)
And FWIW, OS X Server 10.6 has a layer of management tools atop Postfix with Server Admin key among these, and I'd manage via those first and not via the direct postfix commands.  But the lower-level postfix commands do work on OS X Server, if you're looking around.  In other words, read-only, don't use the lower-level Postfix tools to make changes, unless Server Admin et al don't allow you access to the setting.

  • Anyone find a tablet, Ipad, Cius, Android based, otherwise that works with console?

This question is out on Google, no good answers so I figure this is probably the best place to go.  I know that there are a ton of SSH apps, telnet apps, etc for the IPad and Android based OS's.  The one thing I'm not seeing is a serial console utility like a teraterm/hyperterminal for a tablet OS.  I've been wanting to see if I can switch remote troubleshooting to a tablet rather than a laptop (see convenience).  One thing that's keeping that from happening for me is the lack of console capability.  Has anyone got a console working on any tablet system, if so how, and what tools are you using?
    Rich

Well, there is no RS-232 hardware on most of these units, and if there is it is usually not accessible short of Jailbreaking or Rooting the device.  Even when available, the low-voltage electronics present either as a USB or a low-voltage serial port which require additional adaptation.
At one point, someone made a Bluetooth Console cable:
    http://www.conserver.com/consoles/BlueConsole/
    But that project is dead.
If you can get one, it might work on Android with
    http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/productivity/bluetooth-terminal-emulator_kpeq.html
I see a product that makes a Wifi serial port
    http://www.serialio.com/products/mobile/wifi/WiSnapAAA.php
Which may be promising.  Again, I have never used it.
Bottom line is that the serial hardware is generally not available on those platforms, but there may be a path to purpose built wireless dongles to do the job.  The so-called "1 port terminal server" is well suited to this job.
I haven't used the iPhone or Android in this way but would love to hear what you learn.  Seems that Bluetooth would be the way to go.

  • Help please do you need a android tablet if you already have an iphone or would an apple ipad be better

Can anyone please help - my 16 year old grandchildren have an iphone = which is best an android tablet or an ipad and do they need either when they have the
    phone? Thanks

The iPhone practically does whatever the iPad could.  The only differences are :
    1. iPhone could send/receive any call to/from any mobile devices including SMS.  However, iPad could use the iMessage only with another iDevice excluding SMS.

While it is true the iPad does not natively support SMS (Text) messaging, there are several apps available in the App Store which would allow the iPad to send/receive SMS messages.  All of my friends/relatives moved to iPhones long ago so I don't have any recent experience with any of those apps but I do know they are available.

  • HP Deskjet 2540 - connect to pc via USB, can I print from android tablet as well?

    Hi,
I've just bought a HP Deskjet 2540 all in one printer.
I have set it up via USB connection to my windows 7 pc, and it is printing fine.
I also have an android tablet.  Can I also print from this whilst using the printer via USB on my pc.
Any help on if this is possible and what steps I need to do if it is would be appreciated (I have been reaeding the help section on the website but I am just getting more confused).
     Lesley

    Hi @Lesley54R,
You don’t need to have the printer listed with the two different connections unless you’ll be switching back and forth from being connected by USB cable and wireless.  You can delete the one you don't think you'll be using.
To print the web page, please use the browser found within the app. I’ve included the ePrint Mobile App FAQs document for your reference.
In addition I’ve also included the ePrint Product Specifications document. This document has the list of supported email programs, file types and print limitations.
    Hope this helps!
