Front Row Doesn't work with iTunes

I liked that Front Row in Tiger was basically a front for your iTunes. Now they are separate. If you're listening to iTunes and launch front row, you have to start your listening over. That's stupid! Why would Apple do that?
That's the main function I used front row for. I don't want my listening experience to stop when I de-activate front row. Forget that.

Yay! I'm happy. This worked:

  • Front Row doesn't work with my Intel iMac

I've had my ICD iMac for about 2 months. It used to work, but now when I push the 'Menu' button nothing happens.
    I've rebuilt permissions and restarted.
If I'm running iTunes I CAN move forward and back tracks.
    Any ideas?

Have you updated Front Row to 1.2.1?

Another option might be to install the 10.4.6 combo update.

  • Front row doesn't work with both apple+esc and remote

My new macbook can't open front row, not with the remote, and with apple+esc, could it be a file that i have to delete and then restart the computer and that that file automatic comes back??

If, for whatever reason, Front Row isn't in that location, you'll have to re-install it. This shouldn't be a big deal except I'd be a little curious to know why it disappeared...
Insert your original Mac OS X install disk that came with your Mac. You do not need to startup from the disk. Double-click on the "Install Bundled Software Only" option on the disk. At the "Installation Type" window of this installer, click the "Customize" button. This will give you a list of software to check on or check off. Check on the option for Front Row but uncheck everything else (unless there's something else missing that you need!). Run the installer and this should put Front Row back in its proper location. Depending on which version gets installed, you may wan to run the Software Update to make sure Front Row is up-to-date.

  • My iPod doesn't work with iTunes 10. Help please!

    Greetings to all!
Help please! I updated to iTunes10, and now my ipod nano 4th generation doesn't work with it. Actually the "Devices" menu doesn't show up, although the operating system recognizes it. What should i do? I refuse to buy another one. Should i install an older version of itunes? If i do so, may i loose my musics and stuff that i have in library?
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Laters,

You should always have backup of your iTunes folder.
Downgrading to iTunes 9 will not cause you to lose your music etc.
Have you checked via Software Update in the System Preferences for any updates.
Have you tried the 5 R's for the iPod?

  • Podcast app doesn't work with iTunes this made me want back to 5.1.1

Apple may want to make podcast more popout. they made a NEW app "podcasts"
but I start to hate apple to do this just like the iOS 6 maps.
the new Podcasts app is desinged to be work alone (without iTunes)
it can download subscribe find,  ok that's cool but it just won't work with iTunes. maybe apple have data shows more people are iDevice centered.
But I'm an iTunes centered user. I use iTunes to search subscribe download and DELETE Podcast that I've watched. and I LOVE THIS WAY! I DON"T WANT MY PHONE TO Manage or store podcasts!
back to iOS 5. every moming, I sync my iPhone with my iTunes, 1 new unplayed podcasts from every show was synced to my iPhone. and I play them on the way to my company.
at night I watch some other shows on my mac. them sync with iPhone. all played podcasts will not remain on iPhone, and marked as played in iTunes and ready to be deleted. iTunes only keep 4 episodes.   all things is automatic. but iOS 6 Changes everything.  It won't works with iTunes, and music can't play podcasts anymore. I have to Manually subscribe on iPhone again! and Manualy delete on iPhone and Manualy delete on iTunes.
THIS IS TOTOALLY Unacceptable... for me. My phone or iPad have very limited spaces, and 3G data plan.
Use iTunes means, no 3G needed, download only once!
Use Podcast app and sync over iCould means 3G data and download as the same number as yours devices. for me I have to download a  same show for 3 times.
I Hope there is some way that can make the old music app back.

I agree, i tried to do what i always do at my office today on my ipod touch, connect to the wifi at the end of the day to download new podcast episodes for my subway ride home, and instead, iTunes with the ios6 update installed yesterday won't let me do that, it tells me i need the new Podcasts app, fine, i go install it, and then when i go back to music, it tells me my podcasts are moved, i go to the new app, so over i go.  The new app is slow, crashes twice trying to get into it, i can't see any way to make a playlist, i managed to download some new episodes, but can't see how to make a playlist still.  I found out how to delete it (and doing so brought back Podcasts and my podcast playlist to the music app, huzzah!!)
The Podcasts app is not the quality i want from Apple.  I like my ipod, i really do, but it seems Apple is convinced that whenever they make a change they think will make things better, they delete old ways of doing things that work for us, the real people in the world using their devices.  I like the notion of a stand alone app for finding and downloading podcasts, but why does that necessitate removing them from the music app to play since primarily i download all my new podcasts at night, listen to some on my computer while working at home, put them in an itunes playlist in the order i want to listen to them, then sync each morning with my PC to have whatever i haven't listened to in a playlist so it can play all day at work while i'm there.
Hopefully Apple can learn from this and the ongoing Maps debacle to maybe not be so quick to tell their users how we have to use the devices, and instead spend some time listening to how we use the devices to make our experience better rather than enforcing how they want it used on us.

  • HT4914 Apple TV 3 with OS 6 doesn't work with iTunes Match.

My Apple TV only shows me my purchases from iTunes Store
All my computers work with iTunes Match perfect
    Have you any ideas?

    My ongoing monologue.
So I have now discovered that when syncing my ATV with my iMac, it actually IS continuing to sync although ATV disappears from the device list in iTunes.
I had been thinking that the sync process was failing because the ATV would disappear, as would the sync progress bar at the top of iTunes. So I would quit iTunes again, and the syncing would start, but then it would blip out and disappear again, always after about a minute and 45 seconds.
I tried an experiment today, syncing only my music (about 2,000) songs, and it synced up perfectly. ATV seems to only disappear from iTunes when syncing big files like movies and TV shows (HD).

  • Palm doesn't work with iTunes

Helping out a friend. She has a PalmTungsten E that she uses to listen to eBooks from Audible. There are several books stored in iTunes at the moment.
When she first used her Palm with iTunes, she would connect the Palm to her iBook's USB port, and it would appear in the iTunes Source list. Then just drag the book files to the Palm's iTunes icon.
Her Palm no longer appears in iTunes when it is connected to the iBook. However, it does appear in iTunes on my PowerBook.
We tried using Missing Sync to move books to the Palm, using the iTunes Conduit, but that hasn't worked, either. I did manage to move the book files onto the Palm using the Backup Conduit, but the Audible player doesn't recognize them.
Along with these symptoms, an error message now often appears when Quitting iTunes. It appears even though iTunes is merely Launched and then Quit, with no additional iTunes activity. It says:
    Application Launch Failure
The Application "Transport Monitor" could not be launched because of a shared library error:
    "H<transportmonitor><transportmonitor><Hotsynclib.PPC><_ct_libCTransportRelMacFP18OpaqueTransportRefUc>"
Re-installing iTunes has not apparently changed any of the symptoms. I have also previously tried re-installing iSync and the Palm Desktop software; latest versions of everything. It seems to me that the only time I've seen the Palm appear in iTunes was soon after an initial re-install of the Palm Desktop. But it didn't stick, and didn't happen again, even after yet another re-install of Desktop.
Seems like the first order of business is to deal with that error message ... though I'll be happy for any suggestions I can get. I'm not sure which way to turn just now ...
Thanks in advance for any wisdom anyone may be able to share ... !

well, after a lot of pain and suffering, i finally solved one part of your friend's problem......after upgrading to an Intel-based Mac Mini, i found that my PDA no longer showed up in the sources for iTunes. what finally worked (just by chance!!), was to have iTunes open, and launch "Drive Mode" on the PDA....then, both the main memory and the internal card on my PDA (Tungsten T5) showed up in the sources, and i was able to drag my Audible files to the PDA - i then had to reorganize a bit, to get the files into the Audible folder, because they defaulted to the Music folder, and wouldn't show up in Audible until they were in the correct location.
as to the Transport Monitor error - i had that quite a bit when i first migrated to t he intel-based mac, and i finally got it to disappear, but i can't remember the steps required. i suspect that in the end i had to do a hard reset and start from scratch.

  • Front Row doesn't work properly in OSX 10.5

I'm having a problem with Front Row not working properly in OSX 10.5
iPhoto transitions aren't working properly in the slide shows, My monitor keeps turning off,
    I have a KDS 17" LCD monitor.
Also iMovie will show movies with big blank gaps in the video,
Yet iPhoto and iMovie will run fine using OSX 10.4.10
The other iApps of iLife 08 appear to be alright so far.
    Is there a fix coming?
    Dave

    Figured it out...
The "Front Row" settings were set for a screensaver, That's why the monitor kept blanking out,
I've turned off the screensaver in the settings and "Front Row" works fine now.
There is no screensaver image chosen, That's why the screen kept going blank or even off.
    Hope this helps others.

  • Front USB doesn't work with some devices

    Hi,
I have 2 front USB ports and have wired everything correctly (not using the 10th pin).  I tried my digital camera and the maxtor USB hard drive and they both work.  When I try plugging the Adaptec VideOh! USB capturing device, it doesn't seem to work right.  It is detected and the drivers for it installed correctly, but I can't capture any video.  When I unplugged it and plugged it to any of the 4 ports on the back, it works fine.  The D-bracket ports also worked ok with the device.  I wired the 2 front usb ports the same way as the d-bracket (they both have the same color wirings).  The front ports seemed to work ok with the other devices I mentioned, just not the Adaptec Videoh! USB device.  There is a JUSB1 and a JUSB2 on the motherboard.  Are both the same?  I have JUSB1 for the D-bracket and JUSB2 for the front usb ports.  Both are wired the same.  I just wonder why the Adaptec device can work with the D-bracket and not the front USB ports even when they are connected the same way.  Any suggestions?

At the cable end that plugs into the motherboard snip the jumpers between pins 7-9 and 8-10. See Wonkanoby's signature for a link to diagrams.

  • Front Row not wotking correctly with iTunes smart playlist based on rating

    Hello!
I’m a new Mac user and I love the integration between Front Row and iTunes, but I’ve found an annoying bug.
In iTunes I have a smart playlist based on rating, something similar to Top Rated playlist, which works great in iTunes itself and on my iPhone and iPod. The problem is that when I play it in Front Row it adds at the bottom whatever song from my library. Anyone knows how to fix it?? Afterwards the whole thing would be perfect!
Both iTunes and FR are updated to the latest version.
    Many thanks in advance

  • HT4061 Drag and drop function in Windows 8 doesn't work with iTunes.

How to import music files from Windows 8 to iTunes 11.0.3 x64? Drag and drop function doesn't work. Thank you!

    > Straight drag and drop to PS produced a warning message so, when I then tried to drag on to the PS task bar button, I got the Ø cursor but on moving into the PS window and releasing the mouse button there, the file opened.
That's the strangest behavior that I would imagine. Are you using the default vista aero theme or you have turned down or using custom theme and visual effects?
    > it needs to be pointed out that this is a really bad habit that will smack you in the face one day...
I don't understand what you mean. If you are concerned about viruses, in my understanding copying and opening a file from the internet which is what "Save image as" does, is less safe than coping and pasting pixels. Copying and pasting pixels is the same as coping and pasting text from your web browser, it can't execute hidden code. If that was possible everybody will get viruses at the moment text or pixels are displayed on your browser.
By the way when you view a page from the internet, image files are already downloaded in the temp folder of your computer but only the browser uses them unless you open them from there and use in another program. So if you have a virus protection the images are already scanned.

  • Front Row no longer works with Airtunes

May I add my voice to a retrograde step from tiger to leopard. I now no longer proudly show off front row when I play music in my bar since leopard only plays front row directed music through the imac speakers and not air tunes.

Same problem here. I hoped the issue would have been solved with the 10.5.2 update, but alas.. no.
I already posted a 'feedback', think I will do it again. Please Apple, fix this; what's Front Row worth without AirTunes?

  • Synchronisation doesn't work with itunes. Comment : synchro will continue when PC will be available

Synchro has been working until lasr monday

The iphone / ipad doesn't appear in itunes but i have the windows feedback
On my ipad, in the general menu, option synchro wifi itunes, i read the synchro will continue when the pc will be available

Try this and see if it helps. Quit iTunes, reboot your PC, restart the iPad, restart iTunes and then try again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • Anyone get Front Row/Quicktime to work with ac3 sound?

I've searched and searched and tries various codecs and components, but I still can't get quicktime or front row to play sound on .vob files or mpeg-2 files with ac3 muxed in audio.
    Video plays, no sound.
    Has anyone cracked this?

QuickTime is hopeless at playing surround sound, it is hopeless at doing multiple audio tracks, and is hopeless at doing subtitles.
VLC, and even Windows Media Player (for Windows) do a better job.
However, there is one small hope for Mac kind. FrontRow 2.0 as will be included with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, will add the ability for FrontRow to play VIDEO_TS folders (that is copies of DVDs). It will not however use QuickTime to do this (as detailed above QuickTime is useless at this), instead it uses the same DVDFramework that the Apple DVD Player application uses, and therefore like the DVD Player will be able to do AC3, multiple audio tracks, and subtitles.
Apple should be embarrassed over the fact that QuickTime; supposedly God's gift to multimedia is a hindrance and not a help in this area.
Note: According to Apple's website, Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard will include the same QuickTime 7.2 version as is current in Tiger, therefore we will not see any improvements in QuickTime in Leopard (at least not at the time of Leopard shipping).
