Frustrated...iPad 2 Mac OS X (10.7.5) sync with iTunes

I am trying to sync my iPad for the first time with my iMac. iTunes is sending an error message. "iTunes cannot sync apps on the iPad because the apps installed in the iPad could not be determined. What do I need to do? I purchased an iPhone and we are trying to sync them all together. I am so frustrated. The AT&T store told me that I would need to sync my iPad and get the latest version of iTunes. I do not know what to do. Please help me.

Hi Can anyone help. My iPad 2 has been updated with ios7 and now when i try and sync it with itunes (vs 11) I get this error: "the iPad cannot be synced because the computer is no longer authorized for purchased items that are on this ipad". Try reset all settings
Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
Note: Data will not be affected but settings will be reset.

Beautiful new Mac and now I can't sync with itunes!

I have replaced my old imac with a lovely new Mac Pro (spec below), used migration assistant to transfer my files along with music and apps for my iphone 3G. I have unsubscribed my iphone from my my old imac, but when I attach my iphone to my new mac it isn't recognised in itunes.
Now I get an error message:
itunes could not connect to the iphone "Amanda's iphone because an unknown error occurred (0xE800000A)
I've no idea what to do now.
Anybody out there have any ideas for me please?

Have you run Software Update via System Preferences with your new Mac?
I recently purchased a MacBook Pro, and the first thing I did was run Software Update. There were a number of updates available including for iTunes. There is a lag between the OS and software installed at the factory and available updates.
If you have run Software Update and installed any available updates, try downloading the current iTunes version and reinstall it over the existing. No need to delete iTunes first.

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTune (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port. Do not release button until you see picture of iTune and plug (very important)
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTune has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTune.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...

If there are any photos in the Camera Roll you will get a prompt like you mentioned when connecting your iPad to your computer. It is indeed a good reminder to save those photos to your computer. But if you don't want to copy those photos to your computer then dismiss the window and start iTunes. Once iTunes is running you should e able to sync your iPad.

This is frustrating because I cannot add to those albums from mobile device, I have to add to them during a Mac sync. I would like to be able to use my iCloud albums to organize my photos but if I cannot access them from apps it seems pointless. I will end up having to maintain both an iCloud library and a separate iPhoto library which is more work that seems necessary. I want everything easy to organize and access. It seems like in this age where most people are more likely to use their mobile devices than their Macs (and some do not even own Macs) that there should be a mobile solution. Hopefully I am simply without a clue and you folks can help me out with a fix or a source of info as a solution. I have not found answers yet.

Your iPad needs access to the internet via Wi Fi or 3G in order to access the App Store.
Tap the App Store icon in your iPad.
In the search field top right in the App Store window type in:

Call Apple anyway. If the device was ever registered with then they will have the serial # on file and can look you up by other info such as your name or phone number.
To re-enable an iPad any computer with iTunes should work. However, if your data was not backed up to iCloud you will not be able to access it until you get back to your home computer.

On all of these devices, go to: Settings > iCloud and make sure they're updated with the new password. If you're talking about Macs, go to: "System Preferences > iCloud" too.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You don't need to do anything, you have chosen to back up to iCloud instead of iTunes.
Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.

IPad will not sync with iTunes/DL from iTunes Match

I have just purchased an iPad with retina display and it will not allow me to download tv shows or music which i have on my itunes, either by syncing on itunes via my Mac or by using itunes match. It has however allowed me to purchase Pages and has no problem with getting previously saved documents from icloud.
I checked all settings are correct but it still wont allow me to sync. It has become very frustrating. I also downloaded the Ipad Metro app but that seems to have disappeared from the screen but will open in the app store.
Would peple recommend resetting the ipad and starting over or is there a less drastic option?

iTunes Match is for music only, not TV Shows or Movies. iTunes in the cloud lets you download previously purchased content to your iDevice. As long as you use the same ID that you bought the content wih, you should be able to download that content again in the purchased tab of iTunes.
If you are using iTunes Match on the iPad, I think that you have to turn it off in order to sync with iTunes on your computer.

As for the app that is not appearing on the iPad, open it from the App Store and then close it in the recents tray. Reboot the iPad and see if it appears on the device. I assume that you have swiped from screen to screen to look for it already.
Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

I can't get my iPhone 4s or my iPad 2 to sync with itunes on my pc. My very ancient ipod nano works fine. I get told that the version of itunes is too old. I have tried on 3 occasions to download the update, and while it doesn't say there has been a problem with the download I continue to get the same message. Have you run windows update? That could prevent iTunes from properly installing. Also, try with your antiVirus and firewall disabled. What version of Windows are you running?

Upgrade to Snow Leopard - it's compatible with the latest version of iTunes, and still supports PowerPC applications.

Snow Leopard is required if you wanted to upgrade to Lion, anyway, which you may want to in the future if the latest version of iTunes no longer supports Snow Leopard.

IPad Mini Retina not syncing with iTunes

My iPad Mini Retina has not been syncing with iTunes for some time.
I have reset it - by holding down the home and power key. I am using the new Macbook Air 2014 - because it has crashed on a few occasions it has also been restarted recently.
I am running IOS 7.1.2 on the Mini and 11.3 on the Mac Air. It has stopped at various parts but the last few times has been stopping at Step 4 of the sync. A few people seem to have had this issue but I have not found a resolution yet.
