Frustrating: Bridge and PS5 desaturates my pictures.

Hi all,
I'm running Win7 with the Dell U2710 monitor. I've calibrated it, and for a while everything was pure joy, until suddenly Bridge and Photoshop choosed to desaturated all of my images!
All of my files are only appearing "native" or what to say in for instance Paint, or other non-color managed programs.
I don't know what is happening, but when I load up Bridge I can see it desaturates all of the tumbnails. Some weird stuff is going on though, because when I select an image, minimize bridge, and pop it up again, the image shows it's natural saturation.
It's really strange, and extremely frustrating!
One "fix" I've found for this, is to choose Proof Colors on, and Proof Setup to "Monitor RGB"
Here is how my color mangement settings are:
It's danish, I know, but I hope you understand the essens anyway :-)
I really hope someone has a solution for this!
I read another thread, about this issue but It seemed like she changed to mac - I hope i'm not forced into like that, since I'm happy with my Workhorse, AKA cheap hardware PC!

A little update:
This is what happens in PS:

Okay, to be able to do File - Save As and for the file to contain the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 profile as discussed, you must ensure that your document profile is sRGB IEC61966-2.1.
Setting sRGB IEC61966-2.1 in your Working Spaces preference field does NOT ensure this.
What it says is that's the profile you prefer, but (if your Color Management Policies are set to default) it can be overridden by a document profile provided by an external source (e.g., opening a document with a profile already in it, or converting a raw file).
If, for example, you open a raw file through the Camera Raw converter, the default is to set the document profile to Adobe RGB 1998.  This is controllable via a link near the bottom of the Camera Raw dialog.
I suggest as a first step you choose Edit - Color Settings... and check all the boxes in the Color Management Policies section, so that you'll know when you're opening an image that does not have your preferred profile.
Also, you can set your document window to show you the profile the document is using at a glance:
Lastly, if you DO have a document open that has a profile other than sRGB IEC61966-2.1 and you want to make it sRGB IEC61966-2.1, you can choose Edit - Convert to Profile to get the job done.

  • Error Message when downloading updates for Bridge and PS5.....

I recently started using a new Nikon D7100.  The photos are not registering on Bridge or PS5 on my Macbook Pro.  Accordingly, I tried several times to download and install the updates for Camera Raw, etc.  Unfortunately, I keep getting a message that says "There was an error downloading this update.  Please quit and try again later.".  Any words of wisdom?  Thanks for your help!

Thanks a lot Ned!  I really appreciate your help!  I did try this direct update and I was able to get 3 of the 4 updates to install.  Unfortunately the Camera Raw 6.7 update that I really need didn't work.  I was able to download it, but it did not install.  The message I am getting is "Installation failed", with no other details.  Any thoughts?
    Thanks again for you help!

I have a Mac computer and am trying to use a Photoshop CS4 program, but after accessing my desktop files through Adobe Bridge and clicking twice on any of the pictures to get into Photoshop, instead of entering photoshop, I get on the lefthand side an enlarged version of the picture with red, yellow and green buttons on top. Any suggestions on what is wrong, or what can be corrected ?

And there is the problem. Your pictures are opening up in Mac's own Preview app.
Do you want all your jpegs to open in Photoshop, or only when you are in Bridge?
Selecting a program to open a certain file is called: File Type Association.
You can choose this at the MacOS level or the Bridge level.
    Here's how to do both:
Either MacOS or Bridge has the wrong app associated with the jpeg. Let's start with MacOS
Close Bridge and Preview. Select one of your jpegs, and press Cmd i, That will bring up the file info window.
Go down to the "Open with" section of File Info.
Choose Photoshop CS4 and click on the Change All... button to apply this choice to every jpeg on your Mac.
Then open Bridge and see if double-clicking opens it in Photoshop.
Now that means all jpegs on your Mac will open in Photoshop.  Maybe you don't want that.
You can set your jpegs to open in Preview when Bridge is closed.
When you open Bridge, there is Preferences > File Type Associations where you can direct Bridge to open the jpegs in Photoshop when you are viewing in Bridge.

  • Bridge auto Changes temperature to pictures when clicked

Hi, I've been having this issue with both jpgs and DNGs so I think I have an issue with my Adobe Bridge. Having updated my CS5 with all the latest updates, camera raw, etc..., whenever my adobe bridge loads thumbnails for a picture (either jpg or dng), it adds a bit of this yellow hue/temp when i click on it. the change is permanent when i try to edit in camera raw and still there when i open the image to photoshop....
i've been scouring the net trying to find out how to solve this but it seems like no one knows really how to do this. i'm REALLY REALLY frustrated with this,
please help! I've cleared the cache, I only have 4 camera profiles under camera calibration in camera raw (Embedded, ACR 4.4, Adobe Standard, Camera Standard), I'm using a pentax k-5 but it doesn't sound like that should matter seeing how bridge DOES have the capability of showing what i want it to show but.... for some reason, that temp/tint keeps adding itself! akdfjalsdfjaldsf
I've included a screenshot of what it should look like and what it looks like when i click on it.
    what it should look like
    what ends up happening.

Within Bridge, go to Camera Raw Preferences, and make sure the "Apply Auto Adjustments" is NOT checked.

  • Using Adobe Bridge and iPhoto together

I use Adobe Bridge (and Photoshop) to work on my photos. iPhoto is not an option since I shoot in Camera RAW. I also own an Apple TV and want to store all of my photos in iPhoto so they are available to the rest of my family via Apple TV. Has anyone figured out a way to do image manipulation first in Bridge & Photoshop and then have them sent (or later updated) in iPhoto in an automated fashion?
Conceptually, every time I add or change a photo in Bridge or Photoshop, I'd like to convert it to JPG, and add or modify the image in iPhoto.

Also make sure PS's File handing preferences "Macimize PSD and PSB File Compatibility" is set to Always and that there are no alpha channels in the file. An alpha channel will cause the black image that you're referring to.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • After installation of latest Bridge and Photoshop version (2014.2.2) *.CR2 files will not be displayed correctly, neither in preview nor in Camera Raw dialog.

After installation of latest Bridge and Photoshop version (2014.2.2) *.CR2 files will not be displayed correctly anymore, neither in preview nor in Camera Raw dialogue.
Some pictures have white squares with blue and red diagonal stripes that cover almost the complete picture.
When opening those files I have the same problem in Camera Raw dailogue and even in Photoshop eventually.
I tried to open the same same pictures on another computer with the same version of Bridge and Photoshop but the problem remains the same.
It seems like the files itselves are still ok, because if you open an explorer window the previews of the pictures are all ok. And the pictures' sizes remain the same.
I tried to clear the cache in both programs but it didn't help.
    Has anyone an idea????

First see if a reboot of your PC helps.  If not,
    Resets may be in order:
Photoshop: Press and hold Control - Shift - Alt immediately upon cold-starting Photoshop.  If you get the keys down quickly enough - and you have to be VERY quick - it will prompt you to confirm deletion of your established preferences, which will lead to them all being set to defaults.
Bridge:  Start Adobe Bridge and immediately press Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS) until the Reset Settings dialog box appears. Select all three options--Reset Preferences, Reset Standard Workspaces, and Purge Entire Thumbnail Cache--and then click OK.
Outdated graphics drivers can also cause display problems. Go to your GPU maker's website and be sure you have the latest drivers for your card model.

  • Transfering Bridge (and files) between computers

I will soon be switching over to a new computer, which means overhauling my files and unfortunately Bridge. I know that my labels and keywords will transfer since they are attached to the files themselves in the metadata, but what about my collections? I have smart collections which would rebuild themselves once I re-constructed them on the new computer, but I also have some manually built collections that I don't fully remember the criteria for dragging certain pictures in them. I am not sure how to transfer either type of collection beyond having both computers open Bridge and manually reconstruct them. Since I am 1:1 transfering my files for the most part (i.e. keeping the same folder hierarchy), the new computer will have the same relative paths which might work to my advantage or might make no difference whatsoever. Any ideas on exporting/importing collections and other features of Bridge that may not be readily transferable or that are not stored in the metadata?

You might want to explore the concept of "build and export cache" in tools/cache.  Not all data is written to the file, some is held in an XMP file, which has same name as file.  You want them both to transfer at same time.
To see if you have XMP files click on view/show hidden files.
    Don't know much about collections.

  • Three Questions about CS6 Bridge and Photoshop and CR2

1.I Upgraded CS6 to my computer. Old Version was 5.5 and Bridge was 5.1. Why the CR2 filer doesn´t all show in thumbnails and no image is shown in the right window where you can check the picture. The CR2 files are shot with Canon 5D Mark II. Also Photoshop doesn´'t show the prewies when you try to open. In 5 version these weren´t problems.
    2. Why Bridge doesn´t show  the pictures color profile in metatada, it says Untagged. The images are shot in Nikon D3000 camera. It shows it in Raw file.
    3. Why some pictures show little unfocused in Bridge but when you go o raw, it is sharp. The sharpen little checking window in Bridge shows 200%?
    and finally
    4. I think that now when I have two CS versions in my computer they slows it down. Is it okay to burn the CS5.5 files in DVD and then uninstall it?

Two versions on the same computer will not have any effect.  They are seperate programs and will not interfere.  Best to leave as is.
In CS6 click on Help/about plugin/camera raw.  You should have version 7.1 there.

  • Using Bridge and LR with same folders/files

Having organized, edited and rated my photos using Bridge CS4 but recently started getting seriously into LR3 I still want to keep that file structure, either in a transitional period or indefinitely.
I normally use Bridge to import the photos, then spend some time creating sub-folders (one folder per event), organizing them. I'm hoping that I can add those (already organized) folders into LR, but can't figure out how. I see how I can import the photos, but I don't want that as I want to keep them all in the same location (they're all organized on the hard drive as I want them), just have LR "see" them so I can further edit and rate them. How do I do that?
I also want LR to understand and see the edits I've made to my RAW files as well as my ratings, keywords etc.
Are there other things I should keep in mind when having my photos work with both Bridge and LR?

It's possible to work the way you do, but with Lr it's a bit awkward, particularly if you start editing (developing) your images in Bridge.
You ask: " I'm hoping that I can add those (already organized) folders into Lr, but can't figure out how."
You have to import the images. Without importing nothing can happen in Lr.
So, open the Import Dialog. If it shows only the small window of the Import Dialog, click on the triangle in the bottom left corner, to expand the window.
On the left side you'll see the <Source> panel. navigate to the folder in question and click on it to select it. You will see all images in this folder in the main window of the Import Dialog.
Then in the top center of the Import Dialog select <Add>.
<Add> is for importing images that are already on the hard drive and you do not want to change their location.
<Move> is for importing images that are already on the hard drive and you do want to change their location.
<Copy> is for importing images from camera / memory card.
By selecting <Add> Lr will import the images in their present folder and will display the folder.
Your Bridge edits will also be imported because on import Lr reads the image file and the xmp-file where Bridge has stored the metadata of your edits.
But this is true only for import. Should you then decide for an image that has been imported in Lr to edit it in Bridge again, these edits would not automatically be visible in Lr. This is so because with imported images Lr stores all edits in its catalog, and does not display the metadata from the xmp-file where Bridge saves edits.
But you can make Lr read and display these additional Bridge-edits by doing a <read metadata from file>. But this is problematic because <reading metadata from file> will overwrite any Lr edits.
So you see that because of the fact that Lr works with its catalog while Bridge does not, editing images in Bridge and in Lr is a recipe for frustration. It can be done, but it's awkward and prone to mistakes.
Therefore I would suggest to bite the bullet and henceforth use Lr as your only editor. Import images from camera in Lr, do all your editing in Lr.
Since you are used to do edits in in Bridge Camera Raw, Lr will pose no big problems for you.
But if you don't want to let go of Bridge right away, I'd suggest you do at least one thing: After importing the images in Lr refrain from further editing these images in Bridge.

  • HELP!!??? Trouble with PS CS-6 displaying/ producing grainy and pixelated images after being imported using PS Bridge and Camera-Raw 8.5

Help!??? I am having trouble with PS CS-6 displaying/ producing/ saving grainy pictures when import NEF files!!!
    Hi all,
When I import all NEF or RAW files into CS6 from Bridge and Camera Raw from the Nikon D200 and D5000, they become grainy/ pixelated.  However, RAW files from the D800 did not have problem. I set the Color Space in my Nikons to AdobeRGB, in PS Camera Raw 8.5 to AdobeRGB, in PS CS-6 ColorSpace to AdobeRGB, and Save As Jpeg with Max quality (12). When comparing between CS-6 produced file and the original, I can see a big drop in quality and the picture become grainy and pixelated. What can I do to make this right? Any help/ suggestion is appreciated.
    Thank you!
    HN

Can you show us a screen-shot of the raw in Camera Raw that shows this noise, or if you only see it in the saved JPG, then show us a side-by-side of the raw in Camera Raw and the JPG?  Show the same area of the photo and zoom to 100%.
It is normal for raw photos to have grain but you can mostly remove it with the Luminance Noise-Reduction sliders in the Detail tab of Camera Raw.
The amount of grain depends on the ISO sensitivity setting on the camera.

  • I need to synchronize color space between Bridge and PSCS3

    Hi--
The only CS3 programs I am running are Bridge and PS. I like to work in Adobe RGB and maintain all my files in that color space. Consequently, I set that color space in PSCS3 (in
Edit/Color Settings). However, for some reason I can't nail down, PS often seems to lose my preference and reverts to sRGB; when I re-set my working space to Adobe RGB, I am informed
"Unsynchronized: Your Creative Suite applications are not synchronized for consistent color." I can't find the place where I can tell Bridge to use Adobe RGB color space. How can I resolve this?
    Thanks,
    --Ken

I am having the same issue. It is frustrating because I am following a Lynda.com training video that talks about PS CS3 and Bridge basics. Included in that video is how to synchronize color between these two applications. Nowhere does it say that one needs to own a >$1000 full suite to be able to do this. Deke directs the viewer to the Edit menu of Bridge where you are supposed to enter the "creative suite color settings" menu. No such menu exists on my "el cheapo" version of Bridge CS3.

  • Bridge and ATI 3870 Mac and PC edition

I've been playing around with the PhotoShop CS4 trial but seem to be having some issues with Bridge. My first problem was with Bridge simply locking up after moving a panel. This problem did not occur when moving panels in PS. Finally after running DiskWarrior, repairing permissions, clearing the caches, uninstalling and the reinstalling PS that problem seems to be gone.
My current problem is that when I try to view a slide show or do a full screen view all I get is a grey screen, pictures do not display. A search of the forums seems to point towards underpowered video cards, but this was on older systems then mine. My current card is not listed as supported for CS4 but its a newer card and is fully OpenGL 2.0 compliant (the old card that I replaced was listed).
    Here are my system specs:
    MacPro 2 dual-core processors 2.66 GHz
    5 GB of certified memory
ATI Radeon HD 3870 Mac and Windows edition
the vidoe card has 512 MB of VRAM
    I'm running OS X 10.5.5
A Google search did not reveal any known conflicts between this card and Bridge.

    >>nd do you have the right ACR Plug in (5.2) installed. Check this under PS under the menu >>Photoshop / About Plug ins / Camera Raw.
    I updated to 5.2, didn't help.
    >>However do you have tried to refresh the Bridge preferences and also tried the cache for >>folder option using the tool menu in Bridge.
    Tried both, no improvement.
    >>Meaning that they work randomly or what?
No, only that the first item on the list Preveiw Panel does work, the others do not.
    >>I don't see any reference in the specs. for that card that it supports "Shader Model 3"
As far as I know the card supports Pixel Shader 4.1
    >>Put your old card back (the one that is listed as being compatible with CS4)
I was hoping to avoid this but it is an option.
Thank you both for your help. When I tried reseting the Bridge preferences by closing Bridge and then reopening with the option key held down something strange happened. Two instances of Bridge opened up, both were reset to default, and neither would play a slide show.
I'm beginning to think I have a corrupted file somewhere. I used the Adobe Uninstaller when I reinstalled PS the first time, but I don't think it removes all the files. I'll try again manually.

  • Bridge and PS sync plugins problems

    Hi All,
I am having a terrible time. I have Windows vista home premium 64 bit operating system. I was using CS3 and CS3 bridge and recieved the upgrade on both to CS4 for christmas. I had problems installing it and support walked me through it by having me unistall both programs and then re-installing CS4 again. It came up OK but I lost all my plugins. When I try to re-install them they either don't show up or the couple that do will only open in PS directly, they will not show up at all in the the CS4-64 part.  I used to be able to open a picture in the bridge, usually raw files and then go from there to PS and edit with my plugins. Now the plugins won't show up going through the bridge to PS, but they do show up if I go directly into PS, at least the ones I finally was able to get it to take. Also I am having an aweful time getting them into PS to begin with. Is there a wizard or something to make this process easier or more sure. Or a sure fire recipe? Thanks for your help.
    Kathy

    in Bridge goto
    edit , preferences
    then goto
    file type associtions
then highlight say 'jpeg' and you will see that photoshop CS4 is listed as the default program to open jpeg's
in a 64bit pc this will open the 64bit version of PS
so you need to click on the highlighted PS and select browse.
you will need to then locate where your 32bit version of PS is stored.
    normally this would be in.
    local disk / program files (x86) / adobe / adobe photoshop CS4 /
then click on the 'photoshop.exe' icon........
your need to do this process for all the file types you intend to open in 32bit PS.
so if your a RAW user then do this to the RAW file assoction that you use.
so as not to get confused open both versions of PS 32 & 64 bit and change the background colour
at least your know which run is actually running. (you do that in the PS prefs)
