Fumbling through V CAST and LG COSMOS Touch Music / pics setup

OK basically I'm trying to set up my phone (LG cosmos touch) on V CAST and of course I added a MicroSD (8Gig) card. I have songs listed in V cast, and even created a playlist for them and moved them from the "local media content" to the playlist I created in V cast. Here's the problem;
I plug in the phone and V cast doesn't see it at all at first.
I go into my phone and "My Music" and hit the "sync" button which SHOULD just suck 'em up, right?
THEN I get a message on V CAST that my phone is IN SYNC MODE has to be in USB MASS STORAGE MODE to work.
There's a handy-dandy little video that even tells me how to do it on my new phone...
I put the phone into USB MASS STORAGE MODE (Menu>tools>Mmemory>) and...
Now V CAST SEES THE PHONE AS A DRIVE (G
I can now NOT get to the My Music and "Sync" commands on the phone wihtout dropping out of the USB MASS STORAGE MODE.
I CANT SYNC... so I drag and drop
I drag the playlist to the "drive" in the left column and it copies and shows up in V CAST.
ALL THE SONGS are on the chip...
In the phone, there's no playlist, and no songs show up in the "My Music" section... No playlists show, no songs under "all songs." It's like tehyre not on the chip. V CAST says there is and theyre there... Phone says NADA...
WTH is going on?
To "SYNC" i cannot be in USB MASS STORAGE MODE
IN USB MASS STORAGE MODE I can copy the playlist and songs to the chip as you would a drive, but the phone's not going to find them, and I cannot SYNC in USB MASS STORAGE MODE.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR !!!! Frustrated!

Kin TWOm vs. LG Cosmos Touch

My family is now eligible for an upgrade, but my parents don't want to pay for data plans, and I'm a poor college student with no money to do so, so I have to stick with the feature phones and choose something with no data required.
I've looked into them, and I'm stuck between the Kin and the Cosmos Touch.
IMO, here are the major pros and cons of each one:
Kin Pros:
* Wifi capable
* 8GB Zune player
* 8mp camera
* 720p video
* Large display
Kin Cons:
* No forwarding messages
* Short battery life on standby
Cosmos Pros:
* Small size (easier to put in pocket)
* Expandable memory
* More features i.e. tip calculator, stopwatch etc.
* Easy to get ringtones
* Easy to customize wallpaper etc.
Cosmos Cons:
* 1.3mp camera
* No video recording
* Bad keyboard setup (space bar between v and b)
Which phone do you suggest I get and why?

don't forget backup assistant! that's another dealbreaker for some people.
for kin, there's no backup assistant, ie no backing up, export, or import of the contacts. You can back up media files (photos, videos, music) via zune player, and i think even if you have a MAC, they have markspace.com/kin to assist you in syncing the media files.
for cosmos touch...obviously you get backup assistant and all that great support from vzw.
But if you are like me, who has never really used backup assistants, and I manually type in every contact i know/need for all my previous phones anyway, then this probably wouldn't make much difference.
also the interface is very different, i'm sure you are aware of it. although listed as a feature phone, kin still got the old interface and not the normal vz stuff that all other feature phones possess. make sure you are used to it.
i read on the reviews of vzw that there are a lot of ppl returning the kin because they wasn't aware of the interface difference.
ringtone-wise...i don't know. all the phones i have with verizon (except chocolate 1) all had terrible ringtone situation mainly because I like to use my own ringtones and they are vzw were particular annoying at letting ppl having their way in the old days.
i think now it's getting better but obviously, there is still no way of deleting ringtones on kin, you can use myxer.com or your parents/friends phones to send the ringtones you want to you as MMS (messaging charge applies), but you cannot rename it in your kin (must do it before sending).
cosmos touch...ehh im thinking the opposite? not really sure but prob. more convenient.
I will suggesst get the cosmos touch for your parents and a kin twom for yourself, that way, you guys can switch around.
if you are upgrading around this time, maybe you should wait til christmas hits? there might be new phones or new sales or something. kin is not going anywhere...$50 is as cheap as it gets i think.

Have you tried resetting both the iPod and dock? To reset the iPod, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
To reset the dock, unplug it and plug it back in.

There isn't a "remove color cast" command per se but there are Levels and Curves adjustments so you can effectively remove/diminish colors yourself.

Only photos taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad - either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view.
Photos that were synced from a computer are deleted by moving/removing/de-selecting them from where they were synced from and then re-syncing. If you want to remove them all then normally you could just sync an empty folder (in terms of photos) to the iPad, but as you don't want to sync at the moment you can't do that.
You can reset the iPad back to factory settings and start from scratch with it : Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings

Put rice and your iPod in a zipline bag (no air). Change the rice daily. Leave it there for about a week. Try opening your iPod. If it doesn't work, take it in for replacement.

Lg cosmos touch goes blank when placing VM calls

My lg touch goes blank when calling vm & i cannot get the dial pad w/o opening the phone. I've seen other postings regarding resetting the proximity in the service menu but i cant find it on this phones menu. how / where do i go to reset the proximity settings IF that is what will fix it. thanks.

Hello yosmt! I've researched the operation you've mentioned (changing the proximity settings on the Cosmos Touch) and can't find any data on it. I can tell you this: If you're dialing to your voicemail or any other Interactive voice response system, the display should remain illuminated while the phone is held at a distance from the human face for at least 5 seconds. If your phone isn't doing that, then we have to discuss options other than changing settings. If you want, you can send me a personal message through the forum. I have a Cosmos Touch and I am trying to put music from my computer on it.. I downloaded V Cast Media Manager but when I connect my phone autorun does not appear on the screen. Any suggestions or help?

LG Cosmos Touch - What is the trick, really, to creating subdirectories?

Hey all,
I just got this LG Cosmos Touch LG VN270. I inserted a 4 GB micro SD Card, hooked it up the computer, and all went well.
I then proceeded to transfer several hundred (resized) pictures from the PC to the phone. I had the pictures set up in subdirectories (such as "2000 - 2003", "2004 - 2006", and so on.
The photos transferred, the PC recognized the My_Pictures directory on the SD card (created by default when inserted into the phone), and the computer recognizes the subdirectories and the photos within each group.
The phone, however, does not. Selecting Media Center - Pictures shows NO subdirectory structure, necessitating the need to scroll through hundreds of unrelated items to view the photo I want to see. I just got throught chatting with a rep at the LG site, his response was along the lines of "you're out of luck - contact the carrier."
Surely there has got to be a way to create subdirectories so the phone will recognize the file structure (and don't call me Shirley).
Can any of you kind and benevolent techno-gurus assist me?

Every now and then a Verizon non-smartphone will support music being in subdirectories. But right now I can't recall either hearing of or hearing recently of a Verizon non-smartphone supporting pictures being in subdirectories.
Unfortunately, the only idea that I can think of is to use a program that lets you rename the file name of a batch of files. That way a batch of your pictures could start with, e.g., "2000_filename.jpg" so that the pictures will be arranged by year when you go to view them on your phone.

Cosmos Touch randomly turns off

Have had my Cosmos Touch for 2 months and I already want to get rid of it. When I use the qwerty keyboard to text and close it after I sent msg, the phone shuts off every time and the msg does not go through, so then I have to go back and retype it or sometimes people dont get important msgs. I dont have it set where closing the phone means to shut it off. Please help-- what are the solutions to get a new phone? (I'd be happy with any basic phone at this point-- no touch screens again). I also have the same issues with the phone lighting up. Would this qualify for a CPO?

Mine does the exact same thing. it is a bug in the phone. Just wait til the message sends then close phone or close phone before sending message and it is fine..... other than that there is no fix or anything to fix it and there probably never will be because verizon released the LG extravert to replace it already

My IPod Touch 4th Gen easily syncs videos and photos, but not music

I should mention that since my last sync I successfully transferred my ITunes Folder to a separate hard drive.
This went smoothly and all the files made it.
Since then I have been all through i-Tunes and everything was fine.
When I synced, tv shows and videos that I added were synced.
Also new apps from my i-pod were synced with ITunes.
Then, it synced my photo album.
The music that was originally on the i-Pod is still on my computer, and the sync check marks were still in place.
I added a few extra albums too
But when it synche, it only pulled down one song.
The PLAYLISTS, ARTISTS, AND ALBUMS were all empty
I did the process several times and each time it would tell me it's syncing photos, then it would be done.
It didn't touch my music at all.
Has anyone else had this experience?
If so, please assist.

Additionally, I took note that the ONE song that synced was checked within the LIBRARY list
and NOT within the music list within the I-Pod Window.
So, I have manually checked the songs that I want and it appears that the SYNC is happening correctly.
So my actual question is: How can I divert control back to the listing within the I-Pod Window (which I'd prefer to use) and let it be the default rather than the whole music Library?

I have not sync with another computer. Brand new Ipod touch from christmas. same computer. I have however conected it to this computer before & because I was ingnorant it synced automatically with this same computer. I was ****** because it messed everything up. So I erased my ipod completlely and started over. I also un-installed itunes and started over with its as well. I then put only music that I wanted on my ipod onto my computer in itunes.
Now I cant figure out how to get that specific music on my ipod... this is all very maddening!!.. I feel like throughing both computer and ipod out my 2 story bedroom window

Recommendations for external monitor in combination with USB 3.0 dock and X1 carbon touch

I'm waiting for my X1 carbon touch and USB 3.0 dock and keyboard/mouse to arrive any time soon. However, I'd be glad to get some help/recommendations on external monitor choice.
For instance, the new HP envy 27" caught my eye, since it includes speakers, but it comes with HDMI and Displayport connections only. As far as I understood, video connection itselft shouldn't be a problem using a DVI to HDMI adaptor, but how about the resolution of the X1 vs. a HD+ monitor, and how do I use the audio on this monitor (don't want to use the microphone jack in front of the dock, as it should look as minimalistic as possible)?
Is there a solution? via usb 3.0? or should I better consider another monitor? Anyways, DVI or HDMI, I don't want to connect a separate audio system to the dock. Any recommendations, or is it one of those gadgets that has not been thought through well enough and you need to wait for the next generation to be developed?

Since you don't want to use the jack on the dock, you could usethemini-DisplayPortontheX1cTouchasyourvideooutputoption because the version of DP on the X1c Touch includes the ability for audio to streamed over the DP connection in addition to video. This would require a compatible DP monitor.
You'll also want the monitor to support audio over the DP connection. The X1c Touch's graphics supports the output of an audio stream over DP and the machine should be be capable of this. This gives you two cables connecting to the X1c Touch -- the DP cable for audio and video and the USB 3.0 cable connecting to the dock. The dock would be attached to keyboard, mouse, USB accessories, and Ethernet (if necessary).
As far as what to look for in a monitor, my general recommendation is Dell Ultrasharp. They tend to be a good deal for an IPS monitor with at least an sRGB gamut and a solid warranty. I've never bothered to attempt to stream audio over DP because I have separate speakers for audio. In the same way that my last 3 laptops have been ThinkPads, my last three monitors have been Dell Ultrasharps. The graphics in the X1c Touch should be fine running a 1920x1080, so I wouldn't worry about resolution. It can be a little jarring to use monitors side-by-side when they have different pixel densities, so you'll likely end up treating them as separate display surfaces. I often have e-mail and Pandora open on my T420's screen while I'm doing the bulk of my work on my main monitors. If you think you'll be touching the screen a good bit, then you might want to look into buying a touch capable monitor. Otherwise your brain can become easily confused because it'll begin to think that all computer screens are touch-capable and you'll reach out and try to touch your desktop monitor without thinking.
