Fuzzy/blurry text in Captivate 7

Hi alll,
We recently upgraded from Captivate 6 -> 7. Usually we use transparent text boxes for text, and when publishing in Captivate 7, the text gets blurry/fuzzy, regardless of color, size, font etc. We had the same problem in an earlier version of Captivate (I think maybe it was Captivate 3), and the workaround then was to highlight at least one charachter within each text box, but this does not work in Captivate 7.
Funny thing is that if I just drag the generated .htm file into my browser window, the text is crisp and clear, but when I run the same module from our LMS, it all gets blurry and fuzzy.
Any help to avoid this would be very appreciated.

Captivate text displaying blurry has been an issue since day one. I've had to deal with it and spend dozens of hours of R&D to try to figure it out... and as you see I'm still searching for an answer. It seems soooo simple but it must be extremely complex because Adobe just can't figure it out! It was the same thing in Flash. We are a global org producing e-learning for fortune 500 companies and at one point Captivate was our most used tool. Due to this issue and a bunch of others, our shop is now doing 75% of our projects in Storyline, 20% in Lectora, and we have ZERO clients asking for Captivate for the last 2 years. When a client spends tens of thousands of dollars on a project, they don't want to have to look at blurry, jagged text. I wish it wasn't this way because I am a highly experienced Cp developer now having to learn Storyline. But Adobe has either ignored this issue or just cannot fix it. In the image below, you can see the differences in the way Captivate displays text and the horrifying difference between Cp and Flash that I just don't get. That one causes a huge issue when we drop Flash stuff in a Cp slide and are required to stay consistent with font type and size.
Keep in mind, the problem everyone is frustrated about is mainly text that uses Transparent style caption. It appears better when in a styled caption bubble. The blurry text issue can be somewhat fixed by applying a white highlight on all the text. Although, it is still not what we are looking for. And, this extra step in development is painful, costly, and there is always a few that we miss and then we get complaints, etc.
Man, that first one is just nasty!
One last thing I discovered that works, but not all of the time, is that if you create a dummy variable with no value, then put your text in a transparent text caption, add a few spaces at the end and then insert that variable, you will see crisp, clean text as if it was html. Again, too much work and not a consistent solution!!
Hope that helps for those who are new to captivate, and for those like me, who have lost too many hours of precious life and money on this.
See ya, have to continue my Storyline training now...

  • Fuzzy/blurry text in Pages documents (tables)

    Hi,
I was wondering if any of you guys have experienced this problem:
I upgraded to Pages 13 a while ago. Whenever I print text that is in a table, the letters are slightly fuzzy/blurry. Text outside a table is crisp and appears normal.
Any idea what may be causing this?
    Best,
    Johan

My thought was that, in the interest of finding a solution, posting my findings in Numbers could be helpful. After all, Numbers and Pages have a lot of similarities. In fact the way the tables work (where this problem lies) seems to be nearly identical. That post in another forum would certainly not benefit BuzzerRover in any way, but in here it might.
In response to PeterBreis0807, yes, I have tried both changing the CMYK when selecting the cell itself, and also when selecting the text inside the cell. In both cases, upon reselecting the cell and attempting to change the color (making sure the color change button is blue), the CMYK cells had reverted to other values. Gray Scale changes did seem to stick, but did not rectify the printing issue. In the interest of adhering to forum rules, this was tested on tables in both Numbers and Pages.
In addition, this printing issue does not seem to affect inserted images, which print beautifully, or even text outside of tables, as BuzzerRover mentioned. Also, it only seems to happen when printing to my HP LaserJet 400 color, but not when I print to my Canon copier.
I hope this helps shed some light on this in some way.

  • Fuzzy, blurry vision in Yosemite...

I thought my vision had suddenly taken a turn for the worse... but as others have mentioned elsewhere, ever since upgrading to OS X 10.10 Yosemite a lot of the fonts and icons (Menu Bars,..etc) have gone fuzzy, blurry. Strange thing is though, it comes and goes, correcting itself somehow. How does it look fine one moment and then out of focus the next? Restart helps sometimes. I've also tried some of the suggestions such as "Reduce transparency" (System Prefs>Accessibility>Display>) but that only seems to lighten the background, whereas "Increase contrast" also reduces the jaggies, sharpens the edge of fonts. Other then that, it seems there's not much to be done about it if you're using an older model/display other then switch to another font. Is it the same with latest 21.5 & 27 in. iMac's? Is the Retina 5K display the only model unaffected by this change in font?

I'm having this problem as well. Brand new MacBook Pro, 15" running Yosemite 10.10.1. It is not ONLY fonts, as noted, but some icons, even the red, yellow, green circles in the upper left corner to expand, minimize, and close windows. But only in SOME applications. (Microsoft Office being one suite, though not the only. Some Adobe applications and others as well.) The very same red/yellow/green icons and other menu bar items appear fine in other applications. (Chrome, the Finder, numerous others.) The visual is like it is pixelated or low-resolution. With regard to fonts, it harkens back to the days when it meant you were missing a screen font. But again, this is not solely with regard to fonts.
I've also reduced transparency and tried turning off LCD font smoothing, as suggested by many. No difference. This is pretty awful. The issue with the menus and icons is irritating but not debilitating. The issue with text, however, renders some core applications (such as Microsoft Word where text is the core of the application) — and therefore the computer itself — essentially unusable.
Please tell me this is being fixed! Has anyone seen a response from Apple anywhere? A solution that works not only for fonts against transparency?

  • Fuzzy/blurry

    Hi
I have been asking about this before but now the situation has changed.
My problem is a known problem for other people aswell.
    Here it goes:
I am using IE 11 ( the latest updated ) and before the update i used IE 8 due the text on ect youtube or other sites that used IE text for standart was getting blurry/fuzzy and ruined my eyes and hurts my head reading the text. This was when i had AMD radeon
7950 card. Now i have a nvidia gtx 970 card but the problem with blurry/fuzzy text is still here..even this text is horrible to watch.
Then i tryed to use google crome and it helped a littel bit..only here the text appers a bit more gray and background like. And still a littel bit fuzzy.
Now today i instaled firefox and the text is SUPER FINE like it should be..back when i had IE 8.Nice and relaxing to read..NO FUZZY/BLURRY !!!
So why has  IE 9, 10 and 11 and even Crome messed up the text so bad that people must have glasses or increase the windows system to use 125 % or worse in order to read the text like a old man who cant see well.
I heard it should be related with some kind of direct draw X font that should be better, but why did they create something so horrible that it is roulette if you get blurry/fuzzy text with ur setup and hardware. Maybe Bill gates wants every one to buy
glasses in year 2020 so we can look like him

    Hi,
    there's the problem...
nothing to do with clear type because i have turned it off.
turn it back on and adjust its settings to your preferences (there is a wizard that allows you to tune it).

  • Lumia 925 blurry text while scrolling

Noticed that my lumia 925 has a blurry text while scrolling, specially when scrolling white text over black background or black text over white background... also noticed some blurry when scrolling tiles on the home screen, this blurry occurred around the black horizontal lines separating the tiles.... compared the scrolling with the 920 and there is a huge difference...
I read that some of the galaxy S4 units has this problem and that this problem related to Samsung AMOLED screens, and you know the lumia 925 has a Samsung AMOLED screen.
Any one has these issues? let me know in comments please..

I have the same issue with L1020.
I am extremely annoyed and disappointed at Nokia for messing up the PERFECT display of L920.
After using L920 for months and laughing at lower quality displays of other phones, this L1020 display feels like those typical phone displays.
Are nokia engineers so incompetent or everyone of them have vision issues that you ship a phone with such s**t quality?

  • Remove imsmanifest catalog tag text 'Adobe Captivate Course'

    Greetings,
After I've using elearning suite 6's multi-scorm packager (would love for this to be a part of basic Cp6, nuther topic),
I see that in the imsmanifest for the root folder (zipped) there is a <catalog> tag with the text 'Adobe Captivate Course'. Please see pic.
I don't remember seeing an opportunity to edit out this text and replace with a more accurate description. Of course I can edit it out of the imsmanifest.xml file, but I'd rather see where this can be removed/edited up front.
Can someone explain what I'm missing or why this is happening?
    Much Thanks,

    Hi
Can you please forward the file, or share it in a shared location, so that we can look into the issue?\

  • Fix for blurry text on Dell 30" U3014 connected by DisplayPort to Mac Pro (late 2013) AMD D700

Just connected my new Mac Pro (late 2013) to my Dell 30" U3014 with DisplayPort cables, only to find blurry text and bad gamma etc.
Whilst the earlier post/discussion Mac Pro (8 core with the D700 GPU's) (Dell U2713H) was somewhat illumative, I thought a simple list of links for this specific configuration might help someone.
The Ruby script, modified for D3014 can be found at post http://embdev.net/topic/284710#3153072
If you're impatient like me, don't forget to copy the created Folder to /System/Library/Displays/Overrides before rebooting.  Thanks to Blurry text on Dell Monitor + Mac OS X | Danilo Ercoli
    Piers

    Hi Grant,
Thanks for taking the time to think about my issue and respond. But I don't see where your response is relevant.
I want to connect two monitors, each via Mini-Display Port, and only one will work at a time. I am not using DVI cables at all. In this article, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6068, it clearly states that I can connect three monitors via Thunderbolt (mini-display port) as long as they're on different busses. I was doing that, and it didn't work.
What display configurations can I use with my Mac Pro (Late 2013)?
You can connect up to six displays to your Mac Pro (Late 2013) running Windows 8 via Boot Camp. Check the list below to be sure you're setting up your displays in a supported configuration via the HDMI and Thunderbolt ports.
    You can connect:
Six Apple LED Cinema Displays (27-inch) or third-party displays via Thunderbolt. For best results, attach displays to different Thunderbolt busses when possible (see figure below).
Three Apple Thunderbolt Displays (27-inch). Connect only one per Thunderbolt bus (see figure below). Note: You could connect three more LED Cinema Displays (27-inch) or third-party displays, one per Thunderbolt bus, for a total of six displays.
Two Apple Thunderbolt Displays (on Thunderbolt bus 1 and 2) and one 4K Ultra HD TV using HDMI.
Two 4K displays (on Thunderbolt buses 1 and 2) and one 4K Ultra HD TV on HDMI).

  • Responsive Scaling Blurry Text

    Hi all,
I've been having a lot of problems with the built in responsive scaling but have found work arounds for all my issue's except one, the blurry text.  I presume it's common that people find text becomes a little blurry when responsive scaling is implemented (on certain browsers).  Is there a work around for this to prevent it from happening?  I have done a lot of searching but not found anything at all, other than a comment by adobe that it's a browser issue.
    Thanks

  • Blurry Text and Incorrectly rendered colors in 8,1

Ok...I'm at my wits end with this lap top.  I have tried everything.  I fixed it once...for about 48 hours, and then it went right back to the way it was.
Problem:  My laptop (HP Envy with windows 8.1) exhibits the common blurry text problem that everyone complains about.  However, there's an additional problem with mine.  The colors are all off.  Reds show up as greens, greens show up
as reds.  It's a mess.  I can't even watch a movie on this thing cause it looks like a different planet!
I have downloaded all the newest latest greatest drivers for my graphics card.  I have went to the manufacturers website and searched for drivers and downloaded them.  I originally had W8.  I downloaded and installed W8.1.  No change.
My graphics card is the AMD Catalyst.  I upgraded it.
When I fixed this thing the first time, I THINK the thing that did it was to go into Control Panel to uninstall programs.  My AMD catalyst, when I clicked on it gave the option to "repair".  So I hit that.  When I restarted...my
colors and text were perfect.  For about two days.  Now it's back to it's former crappyness.  I tried that again to no avail.
I've tried all the "de-scaling" crap that has been suggested on various forums.  Nada.
Someone please help me with this.  I'm deployed overseas and my laptop is my lifeline over here.

Go through the step by step instructions as sited here:
How-To Uninstall AMD Catalyst™ Drivers From A Windows® Based System
    There is also a
standalone uninstallation utility will clean your system of any existing AMD Catalyst drivers to prepare your PC for the clean installation of a new driver version.
Once the driver uninstalled visit AMD's website to download and install the latest compatible driver.
    Right click your desktop.
    Choose AMD Catalyst Control Center
Locate 3D Application Settings (under gaming)
    Locate Morphological Filtering.
    Make sure it is off.

  • Fuzzy black text?

    Weird situation I've encountered:
I have a PDF that yields fuzzy, slightly bolder black text when printed from a couple different PCs, but prints just fine (no fuzzy black text) from other PCs-- even when the PDF is printed to the same printer.
Any ideas why a given PC can't print the PDF text cleanly? Every other non-black text, logos, and lines print just fine -- but black text can end up looking like a little bit of mascara was applied to it.
    Thanks in advance.
    pete

Wow, a year later.  Did you ever get a solution to this?  I'm fighting the same problem.  The Fuzzy Black is actually

  • IPod video fuzzy/blurry and juddrey when played back on video editors

i have recorded many videos on my ipod before but the most recent videos have become fuzzy/blurry when i have uploaded them onto video editors i have tried many different editors but all of them made the video qulity poor, fuzy and juddery. when i play them back on my ipod or PC there absolutly fine but as soon as they are in a video editor the become fuzzy.

(PAL would be less than 768x576 pixels)
BUT...why do commercial DVDs (i.e. the ones I rent from Blockbuster) look ok on my laptop? Do they use better compression or something?
A little "better compression" and a lot of "something".
Yes, commercial DVDs are produced by better compressors, but the primary reason for better quality is better original content. Commercial DVDs aren't shot with consumer DV camcorders, while they are shot using a tripod and carefully lit.
MPG-2 works by looking at image frame to image frame variations - things like camera shake and noise due to poor lighting can cause major frame to frame differences in the video stream causing MPG-2 artifacts.
In addition, the commercial content is just a lot sharper to start with - better lenses, 3 chip cameras with more pixels than DV camcorders, as well as no compression of the shot footage (DV stream content is compressed about 4:1).
It the old computer saying: GIGO
    Garbage In - Garbage Out
Now I'm confused! If a monitor has more pixels shouldn't it give a better picture?
Only if your source image has the same number of pixels. Your DVD only has (PAL) 768x576 pixels and if you 'blow them up' to something like 1280x1024 (or larger) on your computer monitor the image with 768x576 pixels will look very soft.

  • Fuzzy or blurry text...sometimes

    Hello,
We are currently working on a online project where we have several Captivate projects created by different authors using the same template.  When one of the authors publishes her project, the text does not look as sharp.  Blurry or fuzzy is the best way to describe it.
The weird thing is, if I take the same project file and publish it on my computer, the text looks fine.  It is not a matter of screen quality as the project files published by me and others look fine on all computers, and the ones published by her look blurry or fuzzy on all computers.
We are using Captivate 4, and Windows XP, and we are publishing to Flash 9 with HTML.
    Any thoughts or ideas?
    Thanks,
    Tim

    Hi there
The reason it looks blurry is because you are presenting it at a different size that it was recorded at. I know it's Flash output, but with some Flash output the imagery is presented using Vectors. (Instructions to the computer on how to draw items) With Vector images, things look sharp at any size. Captivate uses Bitmaps. Bitmaps are a grid of PixEls (Picture Elements). Each PixEl is a different color. The mosiac produced makes the image. When you resize, you either subtract PixEls or you add them. When this happens, the computer has to calculate new color values. A loss of clarity inevitably results.
    Hopefully this helps... Rick

  • Problem with fuzzy text in Captivate 5

    Hi,
I know this is a question that has been raised before, but I'm yet to find a solution for my projects and live chat can't help me.  I'm using Captivate version 5, and regardless of whether I publish in high, medium or low quality, the text on my text captions and rollover captions appears fuzzy once published.  I'm using just the SWF to upload to a normal webpage (no LMS involved), without the HTML file, which I gather from previous posts may be a problem.  Can anyone help me around this please?
    Thanks,
    Laura

    Hi Laura
Likely nobody will be able to help here. What is happening is that by not using the associated HTML page, the SWF is being either stretched or compressed. When that happens, pixels become rearranged. Text gets fuzzy (if you reduce the size) and often blocky or "jaggy" (if you increase the size). Just the nature of dealing with raster (bitmapped) images.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Why do my photos and text disinigrate quality (appear fuzzy / blurry / lo res) in premier pro cs6?

    Premier Pro CS6 Question.....
Why do my photos and text disinigrate quality when imported to premier pro cs6?
I have still shots that have text and they look clean and crisp when I view them in photoshop. Why does the photo and text look so fuzzy or blurry and not crisp when I import the still files into premier pro cs6?
Is there a setting in premier that I am setting incorrectly? That is possibly blurring my photos and text? The problem appears in both my PR file and my final exported work.
Is there a way to retain the quality of the image and text that I see in my photoshop file?
Note: I am not enlarging anything after import, I am reducing though, but I would think this would only make images and text sharper????
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Im getting tired of doing all my work and delivering blurry / fuzzy / what appears to be low resolution images and text when I complete my project.
Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Hi Jim, thanks so much again for chiming in to my questions.
Specs of Stills - Photoshop file - 677 x 1014px, 150dpi, 1.96M file size, 150dpi, this is the size of the file I originally imported and reduced to approx. 65%, the one sized properly in photoshop imported fuzzier.
    Sequence Settings -
Export Settings, FLV, attached are settings.
    1. EXPORT FILTER SETTINGS...
    2. EXPORT FORMAT SETTINGS
    3. EXPORT VIDEO SETTINGS
FINAL PROJECT IS DELIVERY OF FLV FILE TO EMBED IN INTERACTIVE FILE. Ive tried different settings for different jobs, just feel all text and photos fall apart when pulled into and exported to FLV for embedding final.
Ive done several slideshow and video's in premier pro, have so much to learn still, Im thinking I keep diving into my projects and possibly making a total mess out of my settings for the desired final destination? is this possible?

  • Blurry / fuzzy screen text / fonts

    Hello
I have had my MacBook Pro for 3 days. I find the screen fonts are not very clear or sharp. Text appears quite fuzzy and blurry all the time, e.g. when viewing web pages, reading the help files, or even now - the text on this message I'm writing right now looks fuzzy. Also, the smaller the text, the fuzzier it gets making it very hard to read. I have tried turning off 'font smoothing' in System Preferences/Appearance, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
Does anyone know of any solutions to this problem? I'd be really grateful for your help.
    Thanks

If this is your fist Apple computer and your coming from a PC. Then you may notice a difference. Apple uses a slightly different way of smoothing fonts on LCD screens. Some prefer Microsoft's way and some like Apple's. I do know especially if your using Firefox and not Safari the fonts appear even worse. I have found that too high of brightness level can sometimes make this even worse. So try lowering the brightness level some.
