  • Toolbox Win 8.1 x64 CP1215

I cannot locate the toolbox for my CP1215 LaserJet. I recently updated my os to Win 8.1 x64.
Previously, one of my toner cartridges was low and a window prompt opened on my pc that alerted me that the toner cartridge was low & listed how many (est.) prints were remaining on each cartridge.
Currently, I have search my entire system and cannot find HP Toolbox, so I can check the status of my toner cartidges.
I have also checked the HP support site for the Win 8.1 x64 Toolbox download unsuccessfully. Additionally, I tried to download the Toolbox x64 from the original product cd without success.
Am I missing something or is the Toolbox utility still not available for win 8.1 x64 ?

    Hi Jackel01
I understand you would like to be able to find out the toner levels but you don't have the toolbox software after updating to Win 8.1.
The downloaded software is a plug and play package and won't include the toolbox software.
You can print out  a hardware self test from the printer to get the supply levels.
Press and hold the Resume button (green button with picture of paper with arrow pointing down)  for 10 seconds to print a configuration page and a supplies status page.
    Hope that helps.

  • How to Find Printer Toolbox on HP7960

Need to find the toolbox to check printer ink levels, etc on this Windows 7 PC.  No problem on XP.

    Hello,
To clarify, a such will not provide any Toolbox capabilitis.
Also for Windows Vista the HP Toolbox was no longwer available, as well for Widnows XP 64-bit so you would not find any full fostware which can be installed by using Comptibility mode.
You may follow these workaround for some Toolbox functions:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02662914&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en...
You may check the ink levels or quality by printing a test page from the printer:

  • Thinkvantage Toolbox / PC Doctor "Diagnostic Module" APPCRASH in pcdrsysinfodirect.p5x

This kept generating dialogs saying that the "Diagnostic Module" application has stopped working, on my T410 running Windows 7 64-bit.  I tried uninstalling and re-installing the latest Thinkvantage Toolbox, but to no avail.
I hope this is not indicative of a hardware problem.  At least everything else on the system seems fine at the moment.
So for now I've worked around this by uninstalling PC Doctor (aka Thinkvantage Toolbox).  I can easily live without it, although there were a couple nice-to-haves in there, so if you have a solution perhaps I'll give it a go.  Otherwise, it might be nice to at least let other users know they can get past this by uninstalling PC Doctor.  I noticed at least one other person on the net having the same problem.
Of course, the blue "ThinkVantage" button does nothing now.  But maybe I'll tie it to something useful, such as process explorer or msinfo32.

On a T420, without running the Toolbox (although a part of it may run automatically upon login), I receive repeated errors often that read:

  • Error 998 when calling dll

    Hello,
I'm using LabView9 32-bit on 64-bit machine (Windows7) and I'm trying to call some functions from an external dll (32-bit).
When configuring the call-library-function-node to use this dll I get an error message saying:
"error loading (filename of dll)". Invalid access to memory location.
The message is in German as is my operating system.
Now I wrote a little test app in VC++ which directly called the dll. Everything worked fine.
Next I wrote a wrapper-dll to call the original dll's functions and used that with my test app in VC++. Also no problems.
Finally I configured LabView to call the wrapper-dll and got no error message at least right after configuration.
But when I run the VI and debug the wrapper-dll I get an error 998 when the wrapper-dll tries to load the original dll.
According to Microsoft's description of system error codes this is ERROR_NOACCESS and means exactly "Invalid access to memory location".
So for some strange reason LabView isn't able to load that dll, which is obviously no problem for a C++ app.
Any help on this would be very much appreciated since my project is strongly dependent on getting this to work.
    Best regards,
    \Ulli.

    Hi Ronnie,
unfortunately there is no direct solution for this issue so far. Both sides, the dll-vendor (texas instruments) and ni are aware of it, with ni (in my opinion) at least trying to solve it.
The cause seems to be some encryption stuff on the vendor side (they use an usb dongle). Is something similar involved with your problem?
My current workaround is to have an external wrapper app written in c++ accessing the said dll. To this wrapper I communicate via socket to realise the function calls.
This is quite annoying since it's a bit of work to do and you definitely loose performance. But so far no one was able (and in case of Texas Instruments even not willing) to help on that problem.
And again: for me this issue applies only for the said configuration:
    Windows7, 64-bit,
    LV2009, 32-bit (I cannot use 64 bit because of some 32-bit-only toolboxes)
the dll is available both in 32 and 64 bit...
I'm still exited, if there will be an official solution,
    good luck,
    \Ulli.

  • EngLab - Open source mathematical/engineering platform

    Hello all,
I'm new to Archlinux and quite exited with it. Anyway, some colleagues of mine from the University and me have created an engineering platform for the Linux platform, although Windows builds are also available. If you like check it out, but be aware that it's still on an early development stage.
(I hope this is the right board to post this )
    Website: http://englab.sourceforge.net/
Now that I am into Arch I'm going to make some research and create a build system for it to run on Arch and with your help maybe enter the AUR.
Here is our press presentation for the first big release (now we're on 0.2.1alpha):
We are pleased to inform you that the 0.2alpha release of the open-source program EngLab has been published.
Our site is located to englab.sourceforge.net . You can download it from https://sourceforge.net/project/showfil … _id=206384
EngLab is a cross-compile mathematical platform with a C like syntax, intended to be used both by engineers and users with little programming knowledge. The initiative has been taken from a group of students a year ago.
Our goal is to develop an easy-to-use computaion and simulation platform with a C++ like syntax. We have adopted Matlab's structure philoshophy and C++ 's structured language syntax. There are various toolboxes (packages of functions relative to a certain scientific field), which depend on open-source libraries.
The EngLab distribution is available in two ways: there are two basic Englab releases, EngLab Console and EngLab GUI. EngLab Console allows EngLab's execution through the console(Linux or Windows). EngLab GUI gives the opportunity of using EngLab through a graphical user interface. EngLab GUI is implemented with the use of  the open-source library wxWidgets 2.8, providing additional usability compared to EngLab Console edition. EngLab GUI is independent, so there is no need for EngLab Console to be installed, in order to properly install and execute EngLab GUI.
Toolboxes are distributed as seperate packages. Their installation is possible either through EngLab Console or EngLab GUI. The reason is that those toolboxes depend on open-source libraries that have to be previously installed. So as the user not to be forced to install those libraries directly, user can install packages and toolboxes at his/her own will.
For the time being, EngLab Console edition is available for Windows and Linux and Englab GUI is available for Linux only.
Until now EngLab has the following features :
    - 16 types of variable declaration (int, float, ...)
    - Variable declaration with unlimited number of dimensions.
    - Loop structures (for, while, ...)
    - Arithmetic, logical and binary operations
    - Constant number declaration (pi, phi, ...)
    - Graphical manipulation of variable values of any dimension (Englab GUI)
    - Adjustable graphical environment (Englab GUI)
    - Editor for writing *.eng functions (Englab GUI)
    - Command history for the last 5 sessions
    - Immediate access to variables, constants and functions (EngLab GUI)
    - Recent files opened through EngLab (EngLab GUI)
Toolboxes that have been fully or partially implemented:
    - a package containing fundamental functions of C (trigonemetric, hyperbolic trigonometrical, ...)
    - a package containing some statistic functions
    - a package containing functions that allow convertions of the variable type
All these toolboxes accompany the basic two EngLab editions, since they do not depend on another open-source library. Moreover, some other toolboxes have been partially implemented:
    - a package that contains functions for the manipulation of 2-D matrices (determinant, inverse array, ...). This package depends on the open-source library NewMat10.
    - a package that contains functions for image processing. This package depends on the open-source library CImg.
    - a package that contains functions for image processing. This package depends on the open-source library OpenCV.
    Also, we develop
    - a toolbox for visual data representation(plots etc)
    - a toolbox that contains functins for manipulating polyonymials, root detection, computation of integrals and derivatives, special functions and more.
Those two toolboxes will be available in the next releases.
The disadvantage is the number of EngLab developers, which does not allow EngLab's quick development. Thus, helping us would be welcomed.
You can help us with the following two ways:
    - By reporting bugs, which you have observed during EngLab execution. You can report bugs in https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_ … tid=997443 . Moreover, you can suggest new features that would improve EngLab's usability and performance. New features can be suggested in https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_ … tid=997446 .
    - If you would like to get more into EngLab, you can become EngLab developers and help us. That requires C++ knowledge.
If you have read till here, that's a good sign. Wink
You could ask questions in the mailing list [email protected] or in the forum .

We are glad to announce that version 0.3 of Englab has been released. The new version contains several bug fixes and improvements in the kernel, a new and advanced GUI based on the Qt toolkit and toolboxes with several functions. Amongst the featured toolboxes are:
    - cimgbox, image processing and manipulation toolbox
    - plotbox, toolbox for plotting graphs and figures
    - dspbox, toolbox for Digital Signal Processing and audio processing
    as dynamic (external) toolboxes and:
    - analogfilters, toolbox for analog filter design
    - unit conversions toolboxes, complex numbers toolbox, polynomials toolbox, stats toolbox etc.
    as static (internal) toolboxes.

  • Thinkvantage update INSTALL seems to be frozen

Ouch.  New machine. X100e Win7 Pro 32-bit model 3508CTO.  Did the setup, connected to home wireless, did the Windows patching, started Thinkvantage. So far so good.
Thinkvantage tells me that I need to do an update for Thinkvantage itself.  OK, no problem.  I click the button, the download takes just a few moments, then it starts the install.
The installation seems to be frozen.  It's been about a half hour now.
The install bar initially moved along very quickly.  After about a minute though, it stopped at about 45% (I'm estimating, there are no numbers).  It's been stuck there for about a half hour.  (The text on the bar says "Installing Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox...")
What do you think?  Should I just crash it and start over?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

OK, so I picked up the phone and called 24-hour Tech Support.  (I know, I know.)
Anyway, so after they asked me about a hundred personal questions that had nothing to do with my computer or my problem (sigh), they finally answered my question ... yeah, I should just crash it and start over.
Then came the surprise suggestion:  The guy says to me, "what you should do now is uninstall ThinkVantage and re-install it from scratch".  Ouch.
After hanging up, I rebooted and simply started the app up again.  It does NOT seem to be the newly updated version. I say that because it asked me to update itself again.
    Searching for updates... finished
Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox - Version 10
    Update Available - Version 55
OK, let's try it again.  Bzzzt.  Frozen again.  (The download went fine again, the install started up normally again, and then it froze at the exact same place. Again.)  Crash, reboot, restart it up again ... yup it still wants me to upgrade to 55.
Of course, I haven't even built my first recovery disk and I'd sure hate to have that FAIL on me sometime when I really need it just 'cause I was too lazy to do the uninstall /reinstall thing.  And I guess I'm 45 versions behind.
Annoying, but I guess that's what I'll do.
[UPDATE: I actually went all the way back by doing a Factory Reset.  Afterwards, I let Windows update itself (not much of an option there), but I canceled out of the Windows Live and the Java update.  I then ran the ThinkVantage update.  Success.  The progress bar still stops at about 45%, but every ten seconds or so something flashes across the screen.  After about 60 seconds, the progress bar disappears, the FINISHED screen displays, and then the ThinkVantage startup screen pops up on top of that (even before you have a chance to close the first one).  But the bottom line is: I'm now running Version 55 of the thing, and *now* I'm gonna let Java update itself and everything else.]
[POST-MORTEM:  I have no idea what caused the installs to keep crashing.  A conflict with the latest versions of Java, or some other Microsoft update?  Maybe some obscure setting I'd set (e.g., I always turn off indexing as one of the first things I do)?  Frankly, I just don't know, but I'm past it.  Now I'm off to try to actually figure out how to *use* ThinkVantage, and maybe create some factory reset DVDs.]

  • Recordset to XML

Now that I'm using CS5, I see that the developer toolbox is no longer available. As such, I'm wondering what others are using to export recordsets to XML. I know that I can do this manually with some code, but I wondered if there is a new way in CS5 that I'm missing or a preferred extension.
    Thanks for any suggestions.
    J

Rest assured the preferred method is to do this manually with some code.

  • N95 sound won't use Speakers?

Has anyone hit this weird one?
If I try to play music/video, podcast etc on my N95, the sound will only play through the phone, not through the speakers or the headset (if attached).
It's driving me potty. On 100%, I can barely hear the music, unless I put the phone to my ear! I've looked all through the various options, and settings in the toolbox, but to no avail. Has anyone else experienced this, or can suggest a way out of it?
    Thanks.

  • Excel VBA - ActiveX Control - MonthView not available under ActiveX Toolbox for Windows 8 64bit MS Office 2010

    Hello,
    I have Windows 8, 64bit and Office 2010
I am trying to get the 'datepicker' (MonthView) ActiveX control toolbox in Excel 2010 as part of a Excel UserForm I have created. I have spent all day trying to find a solution for my problem.
I opened up the 'more.. ' but the MonthView/datepicker/calendar control is not listed.
I referred to some articles and confirmed that I do indeed have the mscomct2.ocx file in the C:\Windows\syswow64 folder.
I followed the instructions as above, opening up the Administrator Command Prompt and changed the directory to C:\Windows\syswow64 and typed in RegSvr32.
I received a popup screen confirming my registration was successful
Excel was closed. So I opened Excel and checked out the ActiveX Tool box and clicked on the 'More  Controls', but there was no listing for the Microsoft MonthView control, (nor datepicker/calendar)
I then downloaded the latest Windows Common Controls 2 6.0 from the following site
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297381
Copied the original file (2008) and saved it elsewhere on the computer for safekeeping.
    Extracted the new mscomct2.ocx.
Under the C:\Windows\syswow64 I changed the original file properties to allow me to overwrite it with the new file. This worked … old file replaced.
I then registered the new file via the Administrator Command Prompt (as above) and was notified that it was successful. I rebooted pc and went back into Excel to find the MonthView in the
ActiveX toolbox, More Controls… and it still wasn’t there …
I would be very grateful if someone could advise how I can get this control and allow me to use it.
If I have left out any information that you need to resolve this issue, please advise.
    Cheers,
    TheShyButterfly
Hope you have a terrific day, theShyButterfly

    Hi George,
Thank you for checking this out ... :)
    I am using Office 2010 64 bit ...
    I found the
mscomct2.ocx file originally within the C:\Windows\syswow64 directory (this was an original file .... which I expect was installed via Microsoft at the time of the Office installation.
As I mentioned above, I followed
the instructions (same as the ones you suggested), but still no go, even though it stated that the registration was successful ! :(
Why weren't these features included in the 64 bit ? ... yes, I read the article ... but ... so MS doesn't think that people/developers would be needing this in due course?  I installed the 64bit version because I'm running the Win8 64bit version ...and
I deal with a lot of large spreadsheets and can't afford to sleep whilst they decide to load.
If MS included all the other ActiveX controls and some obscure ones, surely some bright spark could have thought that something as useful as MonthView should be included as 'basic' necessity when dealing with forms and sheets?
Perhaps you could pass the suggestion up the line .... there are a lot of other people out there having the same problem ... I found heaps when I was looking for a solution.
Sorry, I'm not having a go at you, but just incredibly frustrated .... the amount of lost productivity directly cause by trying to find a solution that doesn't exist ... it's been at least a good solid 24 hours.
But thank you for taking the time to review my post and your suggestion. It's unfortunate that because you are part of the organisation ... you tend to cop some slack from frustrated people like myself.
In relation to the pictures/screen dumps, 2 of them made it (I can see them in my post) ... one I deliberately left out because there was nothing on there that showed anything other than the rest of the 'More Controls' - nothing to do with the MonthView.
Please feel free to escalate this to the powers that be ... and hopefully enough people will join the voice so a change can be made (I can dream ... can't I?)
I've taken a screen dump of the Forms/ActiveX toolbox.
I don't know what the next step is ... I guess you'd be able to advise.
    Cheers,
    TheShyButterfly
Hope you have a terrific day, theShyButterfly

  • SSIS Control and Data Flow Items not available in Customize Toolbox

I cannot add additional Data Flow and Control Flow items to the SSIS Toolbox. I am using SQL Server 2014 and VS 2013 (BIDS). The standard SSIS items appear - but they are all of them. How do I add the additional ones that are not loaded by default. I didn't
have this issue with SQL Server 2012.
    Thank you,
    Johhn
    John

John, which ones you do not see? AFAIK nothing has changed regarding how the items get added to SSIS toolbox in SSDT or VS 2013 with SSDT installed (no BIDS in SSIS 2012 and up).

  • ANN: MEI Portico Version 2.0 for Adobe Digital Publishing Suite Now Available

Jenkintown, PA (November 28, 2012) — Managing Editor Inc. (MEI) today announced MEI Portico™ version 2.0, the latest in the premier Adobe® development partner's lineup of solutions for publishers. The new version of MEI's custom storefront software for tablets was built to empower Adobe Digital Publishing Suite™ customers and is now available for purchase.
MEI Portico lets publishers create custom branded UIs for their mobile and tablet apps on Apple, Google Android, and Amazon Kindle Fire platforms. Custom storefronts enable multiple gateways for showcasing user-targeted tablet content within the app. App administrators can enable search capabilities and organize their DPS folios as they see fit, so that navigation is easy and readers can effortlessly find the issues they want or are entitled to. Portico allows publishers to override in-app purchases for authenticated subscribers, and enables restricted distribution capabilities for corporate and educational institutions using Adobe DPS as part of their digital communications strategy.
MEI Portico 2.0 introduces custom canvases to the original Portico toolbox. Rather than having to rely on templates for their storefront’s landing view, designers can now create their own HTML designs to incorporate into an MEI Portico-driven interface. Using web design skills, designers have full control over every aspect of their app’s look and feel — from storefront layout to images, login pages to RSS or social media feeds, subscriber views to featured folios. And because administrators can launch canvases at a moment’s notice, implementing new features into your app can be completed without a time consuming app update.
"Custom canvases mean that DPS apps can take advantage of Portico’s robust feature set without compromising their brand’s look and feel," said Brett Kizner, MEI's director of new product marketing. "Portico 2.0 has delivered greater flexibility with the ability for our customers to design their own app experience on their app landing page."
