G4 not connecting to the internet

2002 PowerMac G4 Quicksilver (originally 933 mhz, now +/- 1.5 ghz) I have been using a wireless connection to my internet. I do not have the Airport hardware but I think I had an Airport icon on the top bar of my screen up with the speaker and the American Flag.
I'm posting this from work on a PC so I don't have my Mac info handy.,
I called my internet provider and they found the problem to be with my Mac. He said I should have an Airport Icon on top odf my screen if everything was working correctly. He also noted that if I was on a PC he would think I had a virus.
I can't connect to the internet and when I go to send e-mail it says it can't reach my outgoing mail server.
When I go to system preferences and click on network a window pops up that says my network settings were reset by an application.
this is the best I can remember.
Can anyone recommend a course of action o correct my problem and get me back online?

It sounds like the connection is sporadic - sometimes there, sometimes not.
First thing to try is to shut the Mac down, then unplug the ethernet cable, both ends. Check inside both ports for dust or dirt, and the cable ends for damage. Then plug the cable back in. Boot up and test.
If that doesn't fix it, consider replacing the cable. If you have a spare one handy (it's not a bad idea to keep one around; you never know when one might be needed) that makes it easy. Shut down, swap the cable, boot back up and test.
I've had instances where one of my cats has fanged a cable, causing a short. The nasty part was that the fang mark was near invisible - had to examine the cable closely inch by inch to find it. The only way I found it was the cable that was at fault was to try a replacement.
If neither of those fixes it, consider that a port may have gone bad. Since your router probably has more than one port, try using a different port on it. If that fixes it, good.
If not, consider whether the one on the Mac has gone bad. Not sure what can be done if that is the case - the Mac has only one ethernet port, and it is hard-connected to the logicboard. Not sure if there are ethernet PCI cards.

My 2nd gen works fine with WPA2 and AES encryption.
You may need to go back and start over. Reset the router back to factory defaults, log on as the admin, set up security, DHCP, and make sure the IP address pool has enough IP addresses to lease to ALL of the computers/devices that will connect to that the router.

OK, what you should do is download the updates on another machine and burn them to a disc. Start at this link http://support.apple.com/downloads/#leopard for downloads and find, among other things, the 10.5.8 combo updater that works on PPC machines, plus security, QuickTime and other updates. Going from 10.5.1 to 10.5.8, there will probably be a bunch of things that you should install. Being off the internet with the machine, you can't have Software Update sort it out, so something might get missed, unfortunately.
My suggestion is this: if it looks like you might need a download, get it onto that disc.

Ipad will connect no problem to other networks.

First thing you need I think is to get your iMac connected to the Internet.
Shut down your iMac and you iPad. Then power off your router. Wait 30 seconds and power up the router.
After the router indicates that it is connected to the Internet then start up your iMac and see if it connects. If the iMac connects to the Internet then your iPad should too.
If this power up sequence doesn't work you'll have to dig into the router setup to make sure it is working properly.

If you are the only user on your computer you probably don't have multiple user accounts set up and can disregard that. If you are using iTunes 11 go to View>Show Sidebar. Now see if your iPad appears under Devices on the left side when you connect it. If it does, click on the name of your iPad on the left side and your iTunes sync settings options will appear in folders with tabbed headings to the right.

Safari works great on my iMac, but not so well on my Macbook Pro since upgrading to Lion. I get a message that I am not connected to the internet when I try to open a webpage even though the wireless icon at the top of my screen shows I am connected.

Since upgrading to Lion I am having problems with Safari on my Macbook Pro. I am using wifi to access the internet and the internet works in all other application except for Safari. When I try to access a webpage most times I get a error message saying I am not connected to the internet. If I click on diagnose the problem, I get connect again to the internet through the diagnostic process and the webpage generally works. This is not a problem when wired to the internet.

Check your network settings, in particular the advanced setting "DNS Server". If it is by chance 127.0.0.1, make sure to change is and use a know DNS Server (from Google for example, or your own Router local address).

Usually it's because you are not making internet connection via wifi.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

When you click on the WiFi network name, have you also provided the password for accessing the network? You should get a dialogue box asking you for the security information the first time you connect.
If you are not able to connect, you might want to go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings.
Then go back to Settings > WiFi and select your network name again and make sure the security information is now entered correctly.
If you still cannot connect, power down the router, wait a few minutes, power up the router, with the iPad powered down the whole time, and after the router has had several minutes to stabilize power up the iPad. See if it now connects correctly.

Could not connect to the internet with my iPod Touch 4th Gen

I set up an wireless ad-hoc network with my windows vista computer with WPA-2 Personal security type, however, while trying to connect it from the iTouch, it keep saying incorrect password.
When I tried setting up another wireless ad-hoc network with WEP security type, and shared the internet through it, I can input my password successfully on the iTouch and get connect to the network, however, when I trying loading a page on Safari, it does not load, and say it is not connected to the internet. Please Help.

Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Do other devices now connect? ( I thin yo are say no. In that case you have a router problem. Try powering off and then back on the router. Next try changing the security on the router. Test it with no security. The reset ther router. Last, get a new router.)
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
