G4 titania PB hooking up to a digital projector

FIrst time to post,,,
I am supposed to give a slide show, so i thought Iphoto would be good as it is fairly simple,,, i took my PB to the bank that is allowing me use of there project,, i thnk a in focus l3 540? anyway, just testing it to see how the photos would look before hand,.
I connected the cord to the little monitor adapter that comes with the computer,(,the one that plugs into the right side with the fairly long rectangle interface with the 25 little pin holes in the nice array with 4 in a square array next to it) i am sure yall know which one, i just dont know the name.,
anyway, we plugged it in and the projector screen kept running through a dialog, searching for device, ( similar language) but in any case, it was looking for a signal, presumably my computer,,
Could someone please give me the proper procedure for using this projector and hookup with this laptop, do i need to turn off the computer first before hooking up or i have seen closing the lid, ,, anyway,, what is the proper procedure for hooking up to a digital projector,,,,
oh, and one more question,, if the projector is a 1024x768, would my jpeg setting of 1000 on the horiz and 750 on the vert with a 96 dpi be a good setting to get good projection detail as it shows on the laptop screen,,
its a basic wildlife slide show,, like the old days,
thankin all in advance for any thoughts,,,

Hi Kim and welcome!
You have a G4 powerbook, but I'm not sure what model it is.
It sounds a bit newer than my G4 titanium 15"
Maybe it is more like the one at this link?
http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/PowerBookG4_15inch1.67-1.5GHzUserGuide.pdf
Sounds like you are referring to the DVI port on the right side. You also plugged in the adapter that lets a regular monitor(in this case the projector) use that port.
Sounds right so far.
I have Tiger on my computer so my info could be off a bit--take it as it's given: with reservation.
I use the s-video port( the little camera with the "out" written on it) next to that DVI port on your laptop . I bought a long S-viedo cable at radio shack so I could be a bit further from the projector.
When the cables are all hooked up and after I start up the projector, I start up the laptop, open the "system preferences" in the apple menu and open up "monitors". It has a "detect displays" button and I press it.
There is also a little button (maybe only in tiger) that says "show displays in menu bar" I check this button too because it puts a menu at the top of the screen that lets me control the monitors.
If the display shows up on your computer, you also need to turn video mirroring on.This makes whatever you see on your laptop is showing on your TV. There is a check-bow for this OR it is in your menubar now.
The only goofiness that I ran into was that sometimes you have to select the source that the projector is accessing. This is done at the projector end and often with the input button on the remote. If you are using the DVI port with the adapter, then the VGA input needs to be selected on the projector. If you are using the S-video cable(like I do) then you need to select S-video on the projector.
I hope this helps a little bit until somebody else comes along.

It looks like the projector uses VGA input and HDMI input. So get a mini display port to VGA or min display port to HDMI adapter cable and connect to the projector. If you intend to use HDMI the correct cable in Apple's USA online store is:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/HFQL2VC/A/moshi-mini-displayport-to-hdmi-adapt er-4k?fnode=51
    Good luck.
I am assuming you just want to use the projector as an external display. If you want to, you can also get an AppleTV (about $75 from Apples refurbished store) and then you can watch content stored on your TV such as movies, photos, music as well as all the content available on ATV. You can learn more about ATV at http://store.apple.com/us/product/FD199LL/A/refurbished-apple-tv?fnode=14a50729c 804728419b921da95cab7ae47907ddc37376ca0fd1dcbb64ed28942ea8fc13dedc88cfe76e4e691e be59839abb5c7530c89dd9f50de8dee9c23d5210cebe09ca9a99a9b077dcf1ec4b90c6805b5735ed d7d596173f0eb3856982f4e

  • Digital projector for presentations?

need advice for best digital projector for presentations compatible with Power Book G4

I have plugged my G4 Powerbook TI into two different projection systems, one at a Chevron facility and another at the Las Vegas Convention center. Absolutely NO problems what-so-ever! These things are designed to work with the same projectors/displays as almost anything out there, especially Apple Powerbooks.
I did just get a deal from Office Depot ($899) for a Sharp XR-11C that has 1024x768 resolution with 2,000 Lumens! OH, and it is HD ready as well! Yes, you can use it for presentations as well as hooking it up to the cable box for the Super Bowl and the Final Four! LOL! My sales manager used on her pc notebook and it was simply awesome. Super crisp, great color rendition, fairly easy to use and it came with pretty much all the cables you will ever need. YOu did keep your RGA/DVI adapter, right? You will need that more then likely. I hope this helps!

  • Connecting iPad 2 to Digital Projector

My son will be giving a presentation in his third grade class showing how to use ToonTastic. I need to know what cable I need to hook up our iPad 2 to the classroom ELMO digital projector. Any advice would be appreciated!

Without knowing what input the Elmo has, I can't be definite, but it would probably be one of these two:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC953
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC552
If the Elmo has only DVI input, you'd need an HDMI to DVI adapter to go with that first item (MC953).

  • Connecting Digital Projector To An Emac - Help!

    Hi,
I just bought an older emac from a university. G4, 700 mhz, 128 mg, combo drive. Works fine except; I'm trying to hook it up to a Toshiba digital projector. Using apple video adapter through video port and svga cable. Nothing!
When I plug it into my ibook G4, same way, works fine. Is it a matter of not enough memory (only has 128 mg), faulty video card? Your help is appreciated.
    Thanks, Lou

    Hello again,
I would connect everything and then restart both the eMac G4 and the projector. Maybe in order to work, they both need to be restarted (after they are connected). I hope that works, but if not, I would check your display settings. It is possible that some resolutions will not display on the projector. Also, you could even try changing the colors (256, Thousands, Millions).

  • HT201667 I rented a movie through itunes on my ipad and wanted to watch it with friends on a digital projector, but it wouldn't allow me to do it.  Is there any way around this?

I  rented a movie through itunes on my ipad and wanted to watch it with friends on a digital projector, but it wouldn't allow me to do it.  Is there any way around this?

The issue was that a dialogue box came up which said that I couldn't play this movie on another device.  I tried playing the same movie on an Tv with an HDMI connection attached to an adapter to the IPad and that worked.  I wonder if the problem is that the digital projector has a VGA connection.

  • How can I connect Apple tv to a digital projector that does not have an HDMI connection?

I work in an elementary school library where we have 6 macs and 11 iPads.  I want to be able to share the output of each of these machines with Apple TV on a digital projector which does not have HDMI capability.  How can I do this?  I had been using an app called Refector with limited success.

Open a program and drag the window over to the tv. You are using extended display mode.

  • How to connect 11" Air to a digital projector?

I need to connect my new 11" air to a digital projector. What cable can I use. Can't find a thunderbolt to mini-dvi or hdmi.

  • ADC connector to digital projector?

Can the digital ADC socket on my G4 be used to output to an HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) of a digital projector, thus avoiding A-D and D-A conversion, or is VGA satisfactory for high quality continuous tone images?
Power Mac G4 Quicksilver M8493   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   None

Get a ADC to DVI adapter. From there you can get
    DVI to HDMI cables.
That solves the actual connection but I thought VGA was analogue and that the adaptors do not change the signal. If correct it means upgrading the grapics card. Apologies for delay in acknowledging and many thanks for help - much appreciated.

  • Will an iPad mini with retina display connect to a digital projector?

Will an IPad mini with retina display connect to a digital projector for presentations?

Yes, certainly. Depending on the projector's inputs, you'll need one of these adapters:

    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD825ZM/A/lightning-to-vga-adapter

  • Connecting digital projector to Satellite 1000 laptop

I would like help please in connecting my Satellite 1000 to
a digital projector to make a Power Point presentation.
I use other laptops at work and am reasonably familar with the process. However I could not get the 1000 to work.
I connected using the blue monitor port and tried to select RGB using Fn+F5 but at first nothing appears on the projection screen - no toggle. Eventually my laptop screen appears on the projection screen but not on the laptop, which freezes completely.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

  • Does LR 5 support working with a digital projector

Hi all, what I mean is if using a digital projector, connected to a laptop, does the projection show only the main image while the whole LR window/ catalog is seen on the laptop screen. Thank you for any help,

Can you uninstall the codec from Control Panel / Programs and Features and then see what happens in LR?

Can iPad be used with digital projectors?  I'd like to use as a teaching tool to project iBooks on screen.

Yes. You'll need to get the proper adaptor, VGA or HDMI (depending on your projector) or connect wirelessly through an Apple TV connected to your projector.

  • Seek interface suggestions for interactive Projector movie to be displayed on a digital projector

This is kind of a weird involved question and may not belong here, but I don't know where would be best to ask.
I'm putting together a tongue-in-cheek game show for a party. The graphics will be projected onto a projection screen via digital projector. At first, the plans were for everything to be done in PowerPoint, but I don't know it well, and want to do animations, game show sounds and animated screens with quiz questions in Director. I'm trying to decide whether my idea for an interface hidden from the audience will work. I'd prefer all the buttons that control the projector are not displayed to the audience. I'll be clicking these buttons in real time as the show progresses, displaying questions and playing sounds & graphics, etc.
Issue #1 is I won't have the laptop or the digital projector until the day before the event, which is in another state. The laptop doesn't have Director so everything needs to be finalized and exported as a Dir. Projector before I fly out.
Issue #2, I don't know anything about digital projectors and won't be able to practice until its too late to alter my Dir. Projector. (I'm making a Powerpoint show to fall back on.)
Here's what I was thinking, because I don't know if digital projectors have to show everything on the monitor, or can they be adjusted to display a partial screen?
    http://oi57.tinypic.com/2ivlfg2.jpg
Ideally, the audience would see only an 800x600 stage - but my movie would be 800x700, with a bunch of buttons for all my sounds and animations in the bottom, visible only to me
Anybody had experience making something like this for a digital projector? Pointers, suggestions, advice appreciated!

I suggest you skip the on screen buttons and let director detect on keydown or if keyPressed events on the laptop keyboard instead of controlling the movie with mouse input. You can build some easy navigation, play sounds, videos or whatever for your game.
