G4 updated to 10.4.7, now will not boot up

Question

I didn't realize all of the updating issues with 10.4.7 or I would not have updated. Now my computer won't start up. This is what I did:
1. Ran Software Update for 10.4.7
2. Rebooted computer.
3. HP error message appeared about "shared Library" problem
4. Used Spotlight to remove HP printer utilities ( I don't have an HP printer anymore.)
5. reboot
6. HP error message did not come up, Yeh!
7. Tried to open a doc in Appleworks. Error message comes up about "shared library" problem.
8. Checked out this site.
9. Rebboted computer and zapped PRAM (opt-cmd P-R)
10 Computer will not boot up. I get the message "restart your computer using the power switch or reboot button. This message repeats everytime.
Help. I don't want to take this to the shop. It's an Apple and I was only doing an update!!!! How could this be?

Thank you for your help and I will have to try those suggestions if I try to update to 10.4.7 again.
Before I read your post, I started the computer from the original Panther discs (Held down "c" while rebooting) and did a series of "software updates" until I was back to where I started. All of my system information and files were fine. Although Quicktime is not working quite right.
I will be more careful with "software upsdates" after this experience.
