Garage Band 4.1.2 on Power Mac G4 messed up

I had problems trying to change the tempo of the song, it always froze. So I tried to replace my Garage Band 4.1.2 with the same from my laptop that is an Intel one though. I guess that messed it up completely. Even if it doesn't show anything or doesn't tell that architectural thing it would start and freeze right up not loading the play button bar.
Is there any patch for it I can download from Apple or third party that would enable it to run on a G4 Power Mac/10.5.8 ?
Thanks
bafomet

It was hard trying to find anything on 4,1.2 for me. Everything was GB1 or 3 at best . There is a cd that's out there but no one carry's it in my town. One good way to go about it is watch all the tutorials & in apple seminars there are 3 videos totalling about 45 minutes of info. With that you will be able to get started & any Q's you have will be answered in this forum ,also check out http://www.bulletsandbones.com/index.html ---

Since upgrading to Yosemite my iPhoto, iMovie and Garage band has simply disappeared from my Mac. HELP!?

    Hi Jdireen,
As someone who uses the iLife applications on a daily basis on my Mac I can understand how it would be upsetting to have them disappear suddenly. Let's see if we can get you back up and running.
You can download the applications again and reinstall them from the Mac App Store -
    GarageBand - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/garageband/id682658836?mt=12
    iMovie - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/imovie/id408981434?mt=12
    iPhoto - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/iphoto/id408981381?mt=12
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

  • I uninstalled garage band which was preinstalled on my mac, how do I reinstall it?

Garage band came preinstalled on my mac book air and I uninstalled it for space on my start up disk. Now I cant reinstall it without paying, is this right? I might be on a different apple ID as I was given the mac by family who didnt want ti anymore. wouldI need their log in to redeem this?

Check the "Purchased" tab of the AppStore, if GarageBand is listed with an "Accept" button beside it.  If you see "Accept", the previous owner did not yet associate it with hero his Apple ID, and you can accept it for yourself.  If GarageBand, iMove, iPhoto do not show there, only the previous owner can install or update the apps for you, using the AppleID that has been used to accept the apps.
In that case, your family members will have to download the apps again for you. Otherwise you have to buy them again from the main "Featured" page of the AppStore, after signing in with your own AppleID.

  • How can I put garage band on my iPad from my Mac book pro

I have garage band on my Mac book pro can I put  it on my new ipad

No. Mac programs are built for a different OS and hardware platform. You can buy an iOS version of GarageBand, iMovie, or iPhoto.

  • Garage Band installed but also available in Mac App Store

I have Garage Band installed on my Mac, however it is also availabe to purchase and download on the Mac App Store.
    Why is this so?
What will happen if I download it? Will it install a duplicate?

Maybe the one in the App store is the new version. Your PNG did not work for some reason.

  • How to make garage band updated after re-imaging your Mac Book Pro

    ONE SIMPLE THING FOLKS!
    1. MOVE YOUR GARAGE BAND TO THE TRASH
    2. GO TO APP STORE AND RE-DOWNLOAD GARAGE BAND
    3. START IT UP- YOU WILL GET THE SAME UPDATE 1.6 GIG THING
    4. DOWNLOAD IT
    5. THIS TIME IT WORKS AND YOUR GARAGE BAND STARTS UP NO PROBLEM
    THAT'S IT!!!

My MBP (15", early 2009 model, 8GB RAM, 1TB internal drive) showed in Software Update as not needing any other updates, and I downloaded from Apple's site directly and installed iTunes 11.1.5 rather than doing it via Software Update (I've had some glitches with the 'direct' install from SU in the past, so I manually download updates from Apple's support website instead).
Hoping Apple will figure out what's wrong with this version under 10.6.8...

  • Garage Band 6.0.5 update - (Mac 10.6.8) Snow leopard.

    Hi folks,
Garage band ceased to load on my mac - previous to updating to my current Snow Leopard..
To try and solve the problem I updated to Snow Leopard - no resolution.
I then updated to Garage Band 6.0.5 -  still the same problem as before I updated anything.
It tries to open.. says 'Initializing'.. 'Scanning for Jam Packs...'
and then I get the 'Garage Band quit unexpectedly.' message.
    Any advice much appreciated..
    Thanks!

  • HT5537 How do you import/export garage band projects using the latest version of iTunes when there is no apps in the left column to select garageband?

I am perfectly aware of how to do this using the old version of itunes.
however i just got a new macbook pro retina... and it came with the latest version of itunes.
and i was trying to import/export garage band files between my ipad and mac via itunes.
and the option for apps, that is usually on the left side where you can then select garage band from in itunes, isnt there in the new version of itunes.
has anyone got a work around for this?
    thanks.
    nic

Nic, for me the iTunes window looks like this, when I connect my iPad 3:
I select the iPad in the "devices" section of the Sidebar (use: "View > Show Sidebar" if the sidebar is hidden).
Click the "Apps" tab in the "Devices" pane.
Scroll all the way down in the Devices pane to "File Sharing" "Apps" section.
Then do I click "GarageBand" to select the documents in the right panel.
Which part is different for you? Perhaps you could post a screenshot?

  • How can I get garage band back?

I accidentally deleted garage band and i didn't set up time machine, is there any way to get it back?

    HI,
Locate your install disks. If Garage Band came pre-installed on your Mac then you can reinstall it from your install disk.
To reinstall applications that came with your Mac:
Insert the Mac OS X Install Disc and double-click the package that installs bundled software or additional software. A package has an icon that looks like an opened box.
Follow the onscreen instructions. If you see a pane with a Customize button, click Customize and select the application you want to install. If you see a pane that lets you choose what to install, click the disclosure triangle beside Applications and select the application you want to install.

  • ReDownload Garage Band?

    Heya,
Doesn't Garage Band come pre-installed on every mac? I have an old school PowerBook G4 and I know I've used it on here before but it looks like I must have deleted it or not installed it when my hard drive was replaced because Spotlight can't find it. So before I go scrounging through my stuff for the OSX DVD I wanted to find out if there is a way to redownload Garage Band?
    Thanks!

    there is not.

I think these days, any mac will do. Personally, I'd want to get one with Firewire since the interfaces I'd want to use are all firewire (with maybe 1 or 2 exceptions), and Thunderbolt isn't quite there yet with peripherals.
If your music goals are more ambitious, you might weigh higher-end options, but in terms of basic garagebanding around, any current mac should work fine.
M-Audio makes a variety of good keyboard controllers. I like the ones with at least a semi-wieghted keyboard like the Axiom series, or their fully weighted keyboards. I've got a keyboard background so the key action is important to me.
Here's a site that has a number of models on it to peruse.
    http://www.sweetwater.com/shop/keyboards/keyboard-controllers/
Best is if you can feel the actual keyboard to see if you would be happy with it. If you've had a piano background, you'll probably want a better physical action than the cheapest synth actions. However, if you're just getting started, that might be fine. Outside of the keyboard itself, M-Audio controllers work well, and offer good bang for the buck.
You would also want to get an audio interface. A link for those:
    http://www.sweetwater.com/shop/computer-audio/audio_interfaces/
A lot depends on your budget. If you're just starting you can get away with something for around $100 or so. Double or tripple that for better quality. Add a zero for something even more substantial. Firewire is generally better, although RME makes a great USB interface now although it's pricey. A lot of the less expensive USB interfaces are widely used and popular, presonus, m-audio, motu, mackie, etc. The good thing about the Sweetwater site is you can see what other people seem to be buying these days.

  • GarageBand for a Garage Band help

Hello everybody, I've got some questions. Recently I formed a Garage Band, and fortunately I own a Mac. Now I've played around with GarageBand before, and I know how it works. What I don't know how to work, is hardware. I want to plug in two guitars, a bass, a keyboard, mic, and drums (electric or mic) into the computer, and put each instrument into a separate track. How do I do this? I have no clue what I'm looking for, I don't know what cables I need, and I don't know how much it'll cost me. If anyone can give me some insight, I'd love it. Thanks in advance!

    Look at the first interface:

  • Mac OSX 10.6.8 Garage Band '11. This error happens occasionally : I am forced to power-off-on.  Pop-up states that error info will be sent to apple. I never hear back from apple. Second prob: Fan sometimes comes on, runs high speed, then slowly stops.

Garage Band '11: pop-up error forces me to power off-on. Message states that info will be sent to Apple.
I never hear back from anyone about this.
Second prob: Fan sometimes comes on, runs high speed, then slowly runs down and stops running.

First thing to do is a SMC Reset, you can find instructions at:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY!!!!
Then try Repairing Disk Permissions, do this at least 2x. You will find this in Disk Utility which is located in Applications - Utilities - Disk Utility.
Finally you may need to uninstall Garage Band and reinstall. You may have to use Pacifist to do this, you can find it at:

  • G5 Power pc Garage Band

I bought a G5 in 2009 used. Similar to a used car right
I can find  parts for an old cessna or toyota but I cannot find parts for an old power pc.
Gas still runs in those vehicles. Yes gas no longer runs the old G5, OS X 10.6 and up do not repect the old power pc.
Where can I get garage band that was installed on the G5 when it was new, similar to finding a wiper blade for the back window I thought, though that seems to be much easier.
I have had to reinstall from the CD-s a couple years ago and I have also read the package files and garage band is empty.
I will not download illegal software or unauthorized dmg-s.
I have digital performer, ableton and others running great on this old beast, but I need garage band to work with a students...
I bought the old mac, I did not retire it and do not have plans to either. Just like I did not retire the old Toyota right
Southwest air is still running their old jets...I want to run the G5 as long as I can.
    THanks in advance!

If you want to run GarageBand on your G5, try to find iLife '06 and an installer for GarageBand 3.0.5 ( GarageBand 3.0.5)
    Search at Amazon or eBay.

  • Core 2 Duo based Mac Mini performance on Garage Band 08

I'm considering buying an Mac Mini and installing Leopard 10.5.x along with iLife 08 primarily for Garage Band 08. I have a friend who has a modern iMac using Garage Band 08 and I was just curious what kind of performance hit I should expect on a Mini vs an iMac.
I guess my primary points of concern are the integrated graphics (GMA 950) on the mini tacking away from the processing power and the 5400 rpm hard drive, I will be buying the 2.0 Ghz Core 2 Duo mini with 2-GB of RAM.
Does anyone have any hands on experience with Garage Band 08 on a mini, or better yet can anyone compare the performance of GB on a mini to an iMac from first hand experience?
    Thanks

I still run garageband on a 12" G4 powerbook and it works fine. Garageband should not be a problem with any Core 2.
Always a good idea to have a external drive for your projects.
