GCU trade in - no 10% bonus

I have had 3 trade ins recently where I did not receive my GCU 10% bonus or any of my reward zone points. I have been told my GCU has expired or been assured the 10% bonus does not apply. It is such a pain to do trade ins in store with employees who have no idea what GCU is or how to properly apply the bonus. Am I able to get my bonus % and points?

Hello srocky26,
To be fully honest, you should absolutely not be having so many issues with receiving your Gamers Club Unlocked (GCU) bonus while trading in games at Best Buy. As long as your My Best Buy membership is added to the transaction and you’re a GCU member, the bonus should apply. We expect our employees to be privy to our membership programs and I regret hearing that you may have experienced otherwise when trading your games in!
I’m going to send you a private message to both review your GCU status, as well as look into your recent trade-ins to ensure you receive the benefits you should as a GCU member. To check your private messages, make sure you’re logged into your account and click the small envelope on the top right of the screen.
Thanks for sharing your concerns with us on the forums and please be sure to keep an eye on your inbox.
Sincerely,

  • GCU Trade-in bonus not applied

On Thursday July 31st I traded in Dragon's Crown for the PS3. I was just reviewing the benefits of being an unlocked member and noticed that I did not receive the 10% trade in bonus. The base trade-in value was $10 and I only received $10 credit. While 10% of that is a small amount, I am concerned that my GCU is not working properly as I entered in and confirmed my information in store. Should I be concermed about this?

    Hi rareliga,
Sorry to hear your GCU benefits might not have been properly applied to your recent trade! As long as your My Best Buy membership info was entered at the beginning of the transaction, then both the trade-in credit bonus and bonus points should have been applied automatically.
I've sent you some information, so please make sure to check your private messages when you can. To check your PMs, simply sign into the forum and then click on the letter icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page.

  • Missing 10% GCU Trade in Bonus

I did a trade in on Sunday but they couldn't get my 10% trade in bonus to show up. They said since I received the 30% bonus that it overrode the 10%, which I know is false. If someone could help me with this, that would be great. Thanks.

    Hello viewtifulv,
Yep that's inaccurate information.  You can use the Trade-In bonus and the Gamers Club Unlocked (GCU) benefits on the same transaction.  Sounds like the sales associate may have been misinformed about the process.
I'm happy to take a look at your receipt and your My Best Buy account.  I'm sending you a private message.  Make sure you’re logged in, and click on the envelope icon on the upper right-hand corner of the page to check your forum inbox.

  • MYBB and GCU+Trade In

    Hi unboxed team,
I appreciate all the hard work you all do on behalf of us GCU and MYBB members.  I went to my local store yesterday to avail of the 3DS promotion, and at the same time I traded in my copy of Mario Kart 8.  During the transaction the customer service rep processing the trade took my phone number and entered it in, but I did not get the bonus points or the bonus trade in credit for being a GCU member.  I was in a hurry and did not notice that at the time of the trade and had already received the GC and receipt, do I have any recourse to get the points and maybe the 10% bonus credit?  Thanks again.

    Hello again roshd04,
First, I appreciate the positive feedback you’ve provided us here on the forums! I’m very happy to hear that we’ve been able to assist with the concerns you’ve brought to our attention. With that said, I’m sorry to hear that your Gamers Club Unlocked (GCU) benefits may have been missed on your recent Trade-In transaction while visiting our store. As I’m sure you’re aware from our previous conversations, this is far from the experience we want for our customers, especially those who are GCU members.
As long as your My Best Buy membership is added to the Trade-In transaction, your benefits should apply automatically. While you mention the associate captured your phone number, it sounds like your membership may not have properly applied. I’m going to send you a private message with more information in regards to your transaction. Per our previous conversations, I believe you are privy to how private messages work!
You’ll be hearing from me shortly and thanks again for the post.
    Cheers,

  • I did not receive my 10% GCU Bonus on trade in

    Hello,
I traded in 2 vita games at bestbuy. I checked my RZ account and I do not see the 10% GCU trade in bonus. When I did the tradein the rep showed me the transaction on the screen and it showed me as being a member of gamers club. Can someone please asssit. Also is there anything I should be doing or saying in regards to the 10% GCU trade-in bonus.
    Thanks
    Solved!

    Hey MoBetta,
The 10% Gamers' Club Unlocked trade-in bonus is provided on the gift card issued during the transaction, not in the form of points, so this would explain why you're not seeing it on the My Best Buy site. You should, however, see record of the trade-in points within 3-5 business days of making the trade. It sounds like the rep who assisted you completed the transaction correctly, but I'd still be glad to look into this situation on your behalf.

  • No 10% GCU Bonus/Points

I traded games in during your last 50% bonus promo on Saturday September 13.  I asked the girl doing the trade in if she'd scan my card so that I could get the GCU bonus and points on my account. She said she didn't need to because she looked me up in the system.  I figured if it was wrong I could just get a manager and correct it.
I completed the transaction and saw that the 10% bonus wasn't on there, just the 50%.  She called the manager over and he said it was "double dipping" to get both the 10% and 50% bonuses.  And now, eight days later, there is nothing of the transaction on mybestbuy.com.
So I'd like to know what I can do about my points and 10% bonus.  Total it is about $20 I'm out.

    Hi fmwross2,
Based on what you mentioned, it sounds like your My Best Buy membership info might not have been captured properly during the transaction. The manager you spoke with was also incorrect in regards to the Gamers' Club Unlocked trade-in bonus: the GCU trade-in bonus does stack with other offers, including our recent 50% trade-in credit promotion. I'd be glad to see what can be done to assist you though, so please make sure to check your private messages when you can.

  • Not Receiving Extra 10% for trade in's when I do it in store

The last time I traded games in, I did not receive the extra 10% trade in credit.  The store's customer service (Christiansburg, VA store) said there was nothing they could do about it and told me to contact Best Buy customer service.  After several hours of being transferred between departments, I finally gave up and got on this website.  I private messaged someone from support here, and they were able to resolve the issue by adding the appropriate points to my account that I should have received plus the extra bonus that I should have received.  I recently traded in a game today and there is still no extra 10% being given to the trade in.  I gave them my phone number and email that the account is tied to, but it still is not showing up in my transaction history and I am not receiving the bonus nor the points that I should have received.  I would like someone to help me get the extra 10% I was due on the trade in ($40 trade in so $4 bonus, plus the points that I should have gotten for it), and I would especially like someone to help me figure out why this store seems incapable of doing the trade-in properly.  The store does not have a dedicated register in the gaming section and trade-ins have to be done at the customer service counter, not sure if this is the problem or not.  I love the prices that BB gives for their trade-in's, but if this issue persists I will have to stop trading in and shopping for my games there because this is getting too frustrating to have to deal wth everytime I trade in games.  Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

    Hey gang,
Like radiantbc mentioned, your My Best Buy membership number does need to be scanned/entered in order for Gamers' Club benefits to be applied to any given trade-in. If the three of you have any recent trades where this may not have been done, I'd invite you to send me a private message -- I'd be glad to review them and make sure any applicable trade-in bonuses are properly applied.

  • Error with My Best Buy Points when trading in?

I have Gamer Club Unlocked and have recently traded Destiny for $44 including the GCU 10% bonus. However, when I look at my Best Buy Points history, it shows that the game was traded in for only $40, and that I received 80 points for the transaction.
Did I get screwed out of 8 points, or do the double points only apply to the base value of the game?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hey again downthesun01,
Good question! The My Best Buy points awarded for any given trade-in are determined by the base value of the traded games, before any applicable promotions or Gamers' Club Unlocked benefits are added. The trade-in bonus credit GCU members receive is also calculated independently from any other applicable trade-in offer. For example, here's how things would break down if a GCU member were to trade in a game worth $50 during a 50% bonus trade-in credit promotion:
    Base Trade-In Value = $50.00
    My Best Buy Points Awarded = $50.00 x 2 = 100 Points
    10% GCU Trade-In Credit Bonus = $50.00 x .10 = $5.00
    50% Trade-In Credit Bonus Offer = $50.00 x .50 = $25.00
    Total Trade-in Credit Received = $50.00 + $5.00 + $25.00 = $80.00
    I hope his helps.

  • GCU 10% bonus not received on eligible trade-in

From Aug. 30th, transaction ID (removed per forum guidelines).  Rep did the trade in correctly but system wasn't showing the 10%.  Told them to go ahead and complete it and I'll get compensated through the forums as I've heard is possible.  I'm no longer GCU but I was up until just recently just so you know.

    Hi qsilvertwo,
Sorry to hear your Gamers' Club Unlocked benefits might not have been applied properly to your recent trade! As long as your My Best Buy membership information was captured during the transaction, then both the 10% trade-in credit bonus and 2x points should have been awarded at that time.
I've sent you some information, so please make sure to check your private messages when you can. To check your PMs, simply sign into the forum and then click on the letter icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page.

  • Didn't get my 10% bonus trade in from my GCU

I went to my local bestbuy to trade do some video game today. I didn't get my 10% GCU bonus add to my transaction. I asked customers service and was told I got the weekly deal 30% trade in and I can't get both bonus. I have done many trade in and never had a problem with it. I even did one trade on last week and got both the 30% and my 10% GCU. Can anyone help me with this please.

    Hello Zhoutai7218,

  • Didn't get GCU 10% Trade In Bonus

I just completed a trade in at Best Buy store #654 and had a bad experience plus I didn't get my 10% trade in bonus. When trading in I had to explain to the employee that the My Best Buy information was put in before the ID. He said it would be applied after and I knew that wasn't right. So another employee came over and showed him how to enter the My Best Buy information and I thought that I was good. Well turns out that I didn't get get the 10% Bonus and either he didn't submit the My Best Buy info or the system glitched. Also his customer service skills were not that good (as his name tag said sales consultant), it was not a good experience at a Best Buy that I visit frequently.

    Hello jac522,
I want to personally apologize for the poor experience with our Trade-In program and not receiving your Gamers Club Unlocked benefits.  We never want our customers to be inconvenienced like this and thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback allowing us to improve as a company.
I'm willing to further investigate your situation, but I'll need the Trade-In receipt.  I'm sending you a private message.  Make sure you’re logged in, and click on the envelope icon on the upper right-hand corner of the page to check your forum inbox.

  • Didn't receive 10% trade-in bonus for GCU

    Store 181.
I traded in 3 games, received the 50% trade-in bonus from this week's promotion, but I did not receive the 10% bonus that I am due from my Gamer Club Unlocked subscription.
To slightly complicate things, I think I threw away the receipt that I was given. I thought that maybe I could print something from bestbuy.com, but this transaction hasn't posted yet, and after looking at previous trade-in transaction that have posted to the website, it doesn't look like the posted transactions contain any sort of transaction number or anything.
So first of all, I guess, how can I go about getting another copy of my receipt? Secondly, how can I get the 10% that is owed to me?
    Thanks

    Hello downthesun01,
Thanks for being a Gamers Club Unlocked member.  We appreciate your loyalty to gaming with Best Buy.  Thank you too for trading in your games with us.  I am sorry to hear you may have missed your Unlocked benefits.
A receipt would be needed for any support to be provided, so I'll send you a private message so we can get the conversation started.

  • Got the 30% trade in promo, but didn't the 10% bonus trade in from my GCU

Hello, I traded in a couple of my games today to get the additional 30% trade in value but didnt realize that my 10% GCU wasn't included until I got home and the store is already closed.  Would it still be possible to get the 10% on my trade in?

    Hello bhd7,
I would love to help you with your Gamers Club Unlocked benefits and the Trade-In program, but I'm unable to locate your My Best Buy Member ID with the information you've provided to the forums.  Also, I'll need to verify the transaction.

  • Missing my 10% extra bonus trade in credit yet again.

I traded in Wolfenstein: The New Order today for PS4. I was supposed to get an extra 10% bonus, but surpise..it was not added again. Every time I ask the employees to make sure my 10% is added, they give me a deer in the headlights look. It's a bit aggravating and is completely turning me off from trading in. The values are good, but it shouldn't be a hassle anytime I go to trade in. Anywhere else takes a minimum of 5 minutes. I don't know that it's ever taken less than 20 at best buy.
Can I please get my additional points added somehow? I have receipt of the trade if I need to send it over to someone.

    Hi again plus1zero,
If you're presenting your My Best Buy membership card at the time of trade-in, then it'd be difficult to determine why your GCU benefits wouldn't have been applied. I'd be glad to review your trade though and make sure you receive the proper trade-in points and credit. Please make sure to check your private messages when you get the chance.
