Geforce 2 mx 400 8852 problem !

hello ,
I own a MSI gefoce MX400 32 DDR ,TVOUT vga card.  There must be a problem with the tvout function. I tryed to update the bios but the version I updated it doesn't work either.
I have a conexant chip for tv out function. I need some help with finding the original bios of this vga card. Please tell me where I can find it  ;(
Live update 2 tells me that --- 0 bioses found
And another thing ...this card it doesn't have a cooler(fan). And it's getting very hot !!! why ? Doesn't affect the functionability ?

ok ,there are no jumpers , the card was recognised. I manage to find a bios that is somehow equivalent with the one on the Vcard. Initialy , the TV function did not work ,on the device selection the TV choice isn't usable(guess that is not normal on a tv-out card).
When I sad that there is no bios on live update , I did not lie ...
The card is over here :
http://www.msi-computer.nl/Product/Vga/8852/main.html
mine is with 32 DDR ,TV-out ,conexant says o a chip.
You can make a temporary link with the bios so I can get it... and flash it and make me happy. Please notice that now I have Version 3.11.01.50.31 of the bios but , I'm not sure it wasn't modified... That's why I need you guys ,to give me an original bios of my card to put it back ...and if the tv still doesn't work ...well , I'll let it that way .(by the way ,do I need to conect to a TV for switch-ing on SELECT OUTPUT DEVICE - analog ,TV ? usualy the SCART don't give back signals on TV-in, for the Vcard ,normaly , S-video out)
This card was broght from France jus a cuple of months ago. I have a 5 year warranty ,and payed just about 100 euro for it .
You did not answer on the overheating problem ... hope I will solve the problem ,that will make me a little more happy...

  • Installing nVidia Geforce 2 MX 400

I have installed Arch Linux quite a few weeks ago; but I'm still trying my best to install the nividia display driver for my graphics card (nVidia Geforce 2 MX 400).
I have read up all the documentations and I still find it hard to do this task.
When I used the terminal and executed the NVIDIA-Linux-x86-94.43.01-pkg1.run file without any window manager running, I get this problem:
ERROR: Unable to determine the version of the kernel sources located in '/lib/modules/2.6.35-ARCH/build'.  Please make sure you have installed the kernel source files for your kernel and that they are properly configured; on Red Hat Linux systems, for example, be sure you have the 'kernel-source' or 'kernel-devel' RPM installed. If you know the correct kernel source files are installed, you may specify the kernel source path with the '--kernel-source-path' command line option.
ERROR: Installation has failed.  Please see the file '/var/log/nvidia-installer.log' for details. You may find suggestions on fixing installation problems in the README available on the Linux driver download page at www.nvidia.com.
Now I'm using Arch Linux Kernel 2.6.35 and I have used this link to read how to get the source.
But where am I suppose to put it now? I do not want to change the kernel. I just want the nVidia installer to identify that there is a kernel source so that it can install.
This is a very old driver. Since now I have the nVidia driver installation package and also the kernel source can anyone please help me out with installing my graphics card driver?
    Thanks in advance.

Now I have finally gone step by step and installed a lot of packages including the xorg and mesa and also libgl.

And when I type the command to remove libgl, I get something different:

    :: tuxracer: requires libgl
    :: unichrome-dri: requires libgl=7.8.2
    :: xorg-utils: requires libgl
I am confused at the moment. What am I suppose to do to install the driver when this libgl is always conflicting?
Why do you have packages for ati, intel, sis, ... graphics cards installed? Also, forcing the removal of libgl as was suggested might not be a good thing to do, you should probably uninstall those packages which you don't need after which you'll be able to uninstall libgl.
I hope you don't get in trouble now because by -Rd'ing libgl you've probably broken dependencies on your system which may give hiccups eventually.

  • GeForce 2 MX 400 - Ripping, flickering, jumping polygons

    512mb 2100 DDR
    GeForce 2 MX 400
    20GB WD HDD
    SB Live!
    WinXP Pro
Haven't upgraded anything in a while since I've been too low on money lately, but it's still good enough for gaming  Next thing on my list is a new video card since this one's whacking out, but I'd still like to try to fix it before I get the new one.  For a couple months now I've been having problems like others here have reported with flickering and ripping in polygons, and even jumping around.  This only happens in 3d games, but it even happens with some of the 2d images, like backgrounds and loading screens (*could* still be polygons, but I'm not sure).  This was most noticeable with Warcraft 3 which I've been playing for a while.  Their tech support told me to run the game in openGL mode, which actually worked.  That's why I haven't bothered trying to fix it, although now I'm trying to play Final Fantasy XI and it's having the same problems.  VSync is set to on by default, I'm pretty sure that it's not overheating since I get the problems even after startup, and I'm going to go through Memtest to check that.  Are there any suggestions to what it could be?  Or should I just live with it until I get a new card?
    Thanks,
    Dan

Well, I just ran 3dMark 2001 SE and got a 2236... maybe it is just time for me to upgrade

  • MSI Geforce 3 WDM and bios problem plz help!!!

    Hi
I have a MSI Geforce 3 Ti200 Pro-VT and when i install any detenator driver above 23.11 then the capture card wont work! The driver for the capture device says it wont start so i am stuck with 23.11. I have tries later WDM drivers and detenator drivers but they all give the same problem! I have also tried to flash the bios but live update 2 says Your Display Card does not support MSI Live Update 2 function which it is supposed to have. When i go directly to the bios page and try to update it then the update fails. The flash program seems to think that i have a different card or something but my  system information says that i do. This it the information:
    VGA Card Manufacturer MSI
    VGA Card Model Name MS-8850
    VGA Card BIOS Vendor NVIDIA
    VGA Card BIOS Version 3.20.00.18.03
    VGA Card Driver Version 2311
Can someone please help me cause it would be nice to have the latest drivers working for the card.
    Thanks
    Nixus

I downloaded the bios files from http://tw.msi.com.tw/autobios/SVga/Bios/Ms8850/v111/ and then downloaded NVFLASH.EXE and booted in dos and flashed the card i had to force the flash though it had some conflict of data or something but i knew it was the right bios and i had made a backup of the current one plust the card has dual bios so i wasnt too worried and it all worked out fine.
Goodluck with gettin all your cards workin

  • DVD DL fail to burn AND Firewire 400/800 problems

I have had several months of intermittent DVD burn fails. Most recently today burning from the finder and it is now reporting "The disc can’t be burned because because communication between the computer and the disc drive failed (error code 0x80020022)."
That error is new, previously it was always
    Sense Key - Hardware Error
    Sense Code - 0x03
The first time this cropped up was on 10.5.x and when I reported it to apple they had me take it to get the drive replaced since it was still covered by applecare.
After the DVD replacement and while still in the shop it burned a few DVD DLs ok. A few weeks later the same 0x03 errors. (it always burns CDs just fine)
After another phone conversation with applecare, they now suggest that the logic board needs to be replaced. (This was after I mentioned I frequently have problems with Firewire 400 or 800 external drives showing up...sometimes they work sometimes they don't. The same drives always show up when connected via USB)
I was walked through resetting the PRAM, which cleared up the Firewire 400/800 temporarily, but it did not help the DVD burn problem.
So on the eve before the appointment, this crazy MBP (2,2, 2.33 ghz) burns a DVD DL after blowing compressed air thru the DVD slot. But the second DVD DL fails to burn with the ""The disc can’t be burned because because communication between the computer and the disc drive failed (error code 0x80020022)."
I was hoping that the upgrade to 10.6.x would solve both issues, but not so much.
Anyone else with the DVD DL problem experiencing FW problems?

The problems with some external FW burners under SL are fairly common, Robert. With some earlier drives (like my Pioneer 109 in an external box) often one can't even "see" the drive at all (though the bridge in the external box will show up under System Profiler) through FW, though it works fine under USB. With some later ones things like PRAM resets, or simply disconnecting and reconnecting the drive, will get them working. See http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10070281 or some discussion of these issues and possible "workarounds".
As far as the general disc burning issue goes, other things that are worth considering include problems with a "fullish" hard drive with fragmented free space, and the actual media being used. What brands of DVD have you tried?
DL discs, generally seem much more finicky about dust and dirt than single layer when it comes to burning (and , of course, need much more free HD space) . Will it burn a single layer DVD or a CD without problems?
    Cheers
    Rod

  • ISight: External Firewire 400 (My problem solved)

    Hi folks,
Like many others I have been unable to use my iSight and I discovered what my issue was. Maybe someone else is having this exact problem.
I have a 2009 Mac Pro with FW800. I don't have/didn't purchase a 800/400 adapter, but instead was using a Belkin PCI USB 2.0/Firewire 400 card I purchased YEARS ago. The several times I had tried to get this camera working I had nothing, but trouble. On a few occasions the computer would just boot to a black screen. I figured the card was damaged, but I installed it in my G4 DA running Tiger and it worked fine as well as the iSight.
Today I tried again. Same problem. The card was recognized in the profiler and USB worked in it, but still no iSight. I pulled my computer out and looked to see if one of the ports was damaged. What I did notice was the firewire ports are vertical and the top of the ports were slightly slid under the PCI slot cage dividers. I loosened the screw and gently moved the card downward and centered the ports in the PCI cage then re-tightened it. I plugged in the iSight and low and behold it worked!
The problem was when the plug was inserted into the firewire port the outside contact was touching the computer case and causing some kind short. If I hadn't gotten real close to the port to look for damage I would never had noticed it. So check the clearance of the firewire ports on your PCI card if you're using one and make sure the plug isn't touching.

Thanks for letting us know what worked for you.

  • Logic songs won't open or are corrupted - FW 400 - 800 problem!

Been having all sorts of problems not being able to open songs, or they say they are damaged and when I repair them they're empty.
Worked out, through trial and error, it had to be a hard drive problem, then realised I'd just changed the cable on the 'song' drive from a 400 - 400 going to a PCI card, to a 400 - 800 going to a built-in port.
Changed the cable back - problem solved. I would have thought using a built-in port would be better than a PCI one, but clearly not in this instance.
On a similar topic, I recently fixed a problem where Spectrasonics Stylus RMX wouldn't read my User Library from an external HD formatted as 'case sensitive'. Once re-formatted it worked fine.
    I hope this helps someone.

Thank you! I ran Windows Update and bam! Problem solved. I would never have thought of it.
I was missing 320 songs overall! So thanks a lot.

  • Satellite P100-221 NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 TV-Out problem

hi , i have Toshiba Satellite P100-221 , with NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS , it has a tv-out (S-video) , i got the cable & connected it & nothing appears on TV , & when i go to Settings-Advanced & see the options of the video card , i found nothing related to changing the display to the TV or anything....
When i searched in the Manual , i found all the explanation based on NVIDIA GeForce Go 7500 :(
I also tried Fn+F5 & choose the TV also nothing happens , knowing also that the cable i got is from one side S-video , & from the other side just normal video-in cable
    Plz help
    & thx alot

    Hi,
I solved this problem yesterday, I used low quality cable and it work fine. I was using very high quality cable and it was not working. I think it is because of the quality of the signal the high quality cable required a strong signal. By the way I I connected the low quality S-Video cable and it shows low quality picture on the TV but after I activate the TV out and it was shown on the TV I switched to the high quality cable and it gave me better picture quality.

    Hi!
I have MSI GeForce NX6600GT VTD AGP installed on ABIT NF-7S 2.0 (latest bios) with Athlon XP 2400+. Power supply 350W.
I had radeon 9200 running without problems, but if i install 6600gt, monitor goes on standby. It looks like monitor receives no signal from graphic card.

  • Does NVidia GeForce 8800GT have a heat problem?

I have an older heavy-duty Mac Pro running with 8-core Intel 3.2Ghz Xeon processors and 18GBytes RAM, using an NVidia GeForce 8800GT display controller driving a 30' Apple Cinema display. After the Mac Pro has been on for half a day the white semitranslucent bars start to appear and gradually the screen goes to nearly all white if I leave it on long enough. In about an hour after I turn it off, the display is fine.
What component is the likely cause of this behavior? I do not hear any fan noise. Should I?
I have seen other reports of heat problems with temperatures and fan speeds mentioned. How do I find this out for the Mac Pro? MacOS verion is 10.6.3.

Less than 80ºC (load) is desired, but up to 85ºC may be seen. A good cooler would keep the processor down in the mid 60's to mid 70's under load.
Prolonged temps at and above the mid 90's will reduce component life.
Certainly temps over 100ºC would be terminal in the long run.
One would hope to see the card run between 50ºC at idle and no higher than the mid 80's under load.
Lower load temps (mid 70's) are better.......
The 8800 GT is getting old. Any card approaching or exceeding 5 years of use should have the thermal compound replaced.
All fan equipped graphics cards need to be kept clean and dust free. A dust clogged heat exchanger is almost as bad as no cooler at all.

  • Apple Power Macintosh G4/400 Reboot problem

I recently got a Apple Power Macintosh G4/400 running OS X 10.3.9 - just updated via Software update.
My problem is that the machine will not do a reboot after booting up and running for a while (doing some activity, such as software update, etc).
Upon reboot, the screen will flicker, it appears to go through some amount of POST, but ultimately nothing. I cannot power it down with the power button -- instead I pull the plug.
I can then boot the machine up after a short while (ie, leaving the machine off) -- no problem. But if I try to reboot again -- no luck.
Any assistance or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

The funny thing is, the G4 boots up without issue -- when it has been left powered-down for a few minutes.
I tried an experiment -- I pulled the battery and booted the machine. No problem booting! I then inserted my Tiger disc and attempted the reboot to install the new OS.
Still would not reboot -- I get the "bong" but the screen just continuously flashes and nothing happens.
I got to thinking maybe it is the battery and it boots fine after leaving it for a while because maybe it gains some power back or something.
So I powered down again -- still the battery is out and has been out for a good while. I then insert the power plug, hit the button and it boots up no problem. I then open the case, and attempt the Tiger upgrade again -- click reboot button.
This time when it powers off I quickly push the battery back in hoping it would reboot with a "fresh" battery. But -- no reboot. Same issue/symptoms.
    Thanks for answering.

  • Ti Geforce 4800 SE 128mb Bios problems

I bought an MSI TI Geforce4 4800 SE 128mb about two months ago.
I upgraded the BIOS of a my card recently using the MSI Live Update software supplied on the CD that came with it.
The upgrade ran smoothly with no problems whatsoever, however when I try to play games now that use OpenGL or DirectX, there's glitches on the screen and the computer crashes with memory errors and sometimes even resets. It resets randomly at times aswell. Can anyone help me with this? I have tried the following:
    1. Installing the latest MSI graphics drivers (used driver cleaner first)
    2. Reflashing the BIOS
    3. Clicking the 'detect hardware changes' button in the device manager.
    4. Reinstalling the graphics card.
    5. Contacting MSI technical support (three times).
None of these work and there's no TwinBIOS jumper on the card. The old BIOS is not available to download (if anyone has any ideas as to where I could get it, I'd appreciate it) It was working perfectly until I performed this BIOS upgrade using Live Update so I'm sure it's the BIOS that's at fault.
I'm using an MSI Neo2 865PE motherboard, my computer has 512 mb of RAM and a P4 2.53 ghz CPU. I'm running windows 2000.

  • KT4V-L and MSI Geforce 440 TD8x Corrupt graphics problems

    Hi all,
My mate has just recently bought the geforce 440mx MSI card, before this was a bog standard Geforce2 mx card.
Since we've put the card in, after a few minutes in windows the screen gets all corrupted which I'd put down to overheating somewhere, however the card has only been on for a few minutes AND it's not even hot, same for the cpu.
We're using the latest MSI drivers from the site, I'm not quite sure the BIOS is up to date yet but will check that next, but we've had no problems with the GEforce2 before this.
I'd probably put something down to the 8x AGP here but I'm not overly sure, has anyone got any ideas please?
    many thanks
    Wayne Lee

    Hi,
When that type of corruption starts, it normally means that the GPU is overheating.
You better bring the card back and get a new one, as it seems to me that the GPU-cooler isn't cooling much :D
Another problem can be too little power from the powersuply.
My best guess is the GPU-cooler on the vid-card :D

  • Power Mac G4 400 Startup Problem

Working on my brother's system. He ran software update and rebooted and now we get the grey screen with the apple logo and the counter icon, then the starting Mac OS X screen, the progress bar gets to about the half way point then the screen alternates between being totally blue and briefly flashing the round counter icon.
I've tried resetting PRAM, NVRAM, booting to OS boot DVD and running Disk Utility - nothing has worked. Although it did boot to the DVD with no problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Tom

Tom, welcome, it is always a good idea to Repair Permissions before and after updates.
Bootup from the install CD (C key held down) and once the disk mounts (X window) open Disk Utility from the Main Menu under Installer. Choose your drive in the left column then select First Aid, now run the Repair, if it does not repair run it again. Now select the startup volume (with the OS) and run the Repair Permissions, quit Disk Utility.
Now go back up to the Main Menu under Install/Change Startup Disk and select your startup volume then Restart.
    Repair Permissions.
