GeForce stops getting detected by driver

I am having problems with my GF 6600GT on AGP for some time now. Often, the bootup of Windows takes unusually long, and then the resolution drops, windows and dialogs move sluggish, and 3D stops working altogether. As I open the Device Manager I find out, that the graphic card is not detected by the driver. Reseting the computer does not help, the only thing that does, is reinstallation of the driver. I think, that there is a connection between AntiAliasing usage and this problem. When a game activates it, the next bootup usually fails. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Thank you, I will try it right away. Just out of curiosity, why exactly this driver? Is this the last one, where something was updated/changed in regards to the 6600GT?
very good release, rock solid stable, without issues gives best performance for your class VGA. proved in time as best drivers. newest release are optimised for higher VGA class and will bring nothing for your VGA except some texture corruption or other unexpected things can come and drop in performance for sure.
but that is my vision & opinion only.

hello everyone, i was using my hp pavilion dv6 6070se laptop the other day just browing the internet when the laptop suddenly powered off as if the battery got disconnected, it wasn't a temp. problem because i always keep it in check and the laptop didn't feel warm at all, then when i powered it back on it was runing on the intel gpu and my radeon gpu just vanished, it wasn't getting detected by the device manager and i even tried re-installing the driver but even the catalyst install manager doesn't detect a radeon hardware, can someone please help??

    @Ahmed-Mak ,
Thanks for posting back.  From what i am seeing here, the first thing i would try is a system restore back to when the hardware was detected.  If there was any updates or other hardware related software ran on the system that could have made changes could have caused this issue.
Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 7)
If you still have the issue after taking your system back to a time that you know it was working ok try this.

  • I have an external hard drive and it randomly stopped being detected on my macbook pro

Hi, I've got a seagate backup plus external hard drive that randomly stopped being detected by my macbook pro for no reason. I've tried it on my friends macbook pro and it works fine, his macbook is just about identical to my macbook. Help would be apprieciated!

Here's my lo-tech solution (if you have Parallels) to this frustrating problem:
    Eject your hard drive.
Unplug (USB) your hard drive from the MAC .
    Start Parallels.
When Windows has started, plug your drive back into the MAC.
You should get a little screen asking if you want the drive to be utilized by MAC or Windows. Select Windows.
Use Windows to copy your files over to the hard drive.
This is less than ideal and not a long-term solution, but I was afraid of attempting any reformatting since I have many files on my hard drive.
Just remember that Windows has to be running first, before you plug in your hard drive.

I thought the same too, looks like its not just me having this issue, hope Apple do something soon. Thanks for your help

  • P6N SLI won't detect SATA drive

    Specs:
MSI P6N SLI-FI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel MB, Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700, EVGA 768-P2-N831-AR GeForce 8800GTX, Seagate Barracuda 320 GB 7200 RPM, Corsair 2GB DDR2 Twin2X (x2), Windows XP Pro, Zalman 9700, Sony DVD/CD-RW, Antec True Power Trio ATX12V 650W
Im putting together a new build with the following components above. Everything is running great. The computer posts and begins the installation of Windows, however; when it comes time to format my SATA HD the motherboard can't seem to detect it. I've checked all my connections many times, and made sure my HD is connected to SATA port 1, but I can't seem to get the MB to detect the drive. Is there anything more I can try?

Is the hard drive detected during the initial BIOS post?  If it is detected and Windows hangs during install, do you have it set in BIOS to run as AHCI?  If so you would need to load the drivers before hand (F6).

  • Cannot detect any drives in my macbook pro 13.

    Hi,
I have a macbook pro 13" that was built December 2009 (so mid-2009 model).
About a month ago, out of nowhere (maybe after an update), my macbook started to freeze up/beachball.
I shutdown the machine, and then it wouldn't even boot up. Just saw the spiral and apple logo go into an infinite loop.
At first I thought it was the filesystem that was corrupted, but as I analyzed the issue it seemed like the drive refused to work. So I thought to myself it's a bad drive. I tried numerous things, until I ruled it was definitely the drive.
So I ordered an Intel X25-M 160GB SSD as a replacement.
In the meantime, I had a western digital passport 500GB drive (USB). So I installed OSX on it for the time being.
The drive arrived, and I swap it out. The drive isn't detected (doesn't show up in disk utility nor system profiler.) So I swap back in the original drive, it detects the drive.
At this point, I'm frustrated. What could be the problem?
So I decided to disassemble my passport drive, which happened to be a WD Scorpio Blue SATA2 500GB drive. I put that into the macbook pro 13". It's not detected.
So now I'm thinking it's the SATA controller issue only to find out these Macbook Pros are plauged with issues. I believe my Macbook Pro was shipped with EFI 1.7. So I downgrade to 1.6. I try all 3 drives, and only the original macbook drive is detected. Except it barely functions.
Now I connect all 3 drives to my PC. To my surprise all of them work fine. Even the original macbook drive. Infact the original macbook drive seems rather fit.
So at the moment, my macbook is useless without an external USB drive to boot from.
Is anyone experiencing similar issues? Drives not being detected at all?
Any suggestions or handy hints. I've exhausted all my resources and I'm frustrated. Note: I do not have applecare and the 3 month period has expired.
    Thanks.

    Naveen, go here:
    https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do
Type in your Mac's serial number (which you can get off the box or from "About this Mac" in the Apple Menu, or even in System Profiler) and it should tell you how much warranty you have left and some options for contacting Apple (take it to an Apple Store is probably the best option if you can).
    Hope this helps.

  • Ipod classic is not getting detected by Itunes.

There were problems from when I updated my system to windows8. But some how in 2-3 times it usually detects the ipod and I was able to sync music. But now Itunes is not at all detecting my Ipod. I tried in different systems, in windows 7(which crashed and showed a blue screen) and XP but in that too it is not detecting. When I connect the Ipod,it makes some noise and windows shows that there is some problem with the device, fix it. When I click in that for repair, after scanning, pop up comes which says there was no error and the device is ready to use.
But in MAC it is getting detected so there is some problem with windows only.
I tried everything which was there in the internet. Please help or tell me the reason for this.

    Hey there Aakrisha,
It sounds like you are connecting the iPod to your Windows 8 based computer but it is not working as expected. I want to recommend the troubleshooting steps outlined in this article named:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538
Here is a general overview of the troubleshooting to be done, each link has its own set of steps to try.
    1. Update iTunes
    2. Check the USB cable
    3. Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    4. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service
    5. Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed
    6. Check for third-party software conflicts
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

After the patch to 7.6 on iTunes i also patch my Ipod Touch to 1.1.3 BUt after that i notice that my iTouch doesn't always get detected by the iTunes when i plug it in to my USB port. Now it becomes such that iTunes doesn't detect it at all. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and do some reading on topics posted on problems with syncing but I still can get my Itouch detected.
Ran iTune Connectivity Test and shows everything is working well. All my USB drivers are up to date and working fine, i can plug in a Flash drive in the same USB port i use and the flash drive shows up on my computer. I even got a 2nd cable but the problem persists.

  • Windows 7 refuses to detect eSATA drive! (790FX-GD70 mobo)

I just built a new computer using Windows 7 64-bit. Here's the component config for it:
    MSI 790FX-GD70
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
XFX Radeon HD 5850 Black Edition
    OCZ Gold 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 (OCZ3G1600LV6GK)
    Seagate Barracuda LP ST31500541AS 1.5TB 5900 RPM 32MB Cache
My problem is that I can't hot swap my eSATA drive which is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST31500341AS 1.5TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache in a Rosewill RX-358-S external enclosure. Yes, I realize my hard drives are backwards...I purchased the 7200 RPM a while ago and have been using it externally. I've been fortunate enough to not have it die on me (they get horrible reviews) and couldn't resist ordering another 1.5TB Seagate when it was on sale. I haven't noticed the newer one that ended up in my system is only 5900 RPM until now - didn't even realize it was 5900 RPM when I purchased it. It actually dropped my Windows Experience Index to 5.9 because of it - the next lowest thing is the processor at 7.4 (which seems low to me when it's a 3.5 GHZ quad-core). Oh well, it's just not worth messing around with an active partition and another massive hard drive that's already 95% full of crap to make it a bit more "proper".
Being unable to hot swap was the first problem. It would only detect the drive when it was plugged in prior to booting. Now I just noticed it doesn't seem to detect it all because I no longer get a drive icon for it in Windows Explorer where as I previously did. I tried enabling AHCI in the BIOS. I didn't install Windows with it enabled which appears to be a problem with XP but I figure Windows 7 would be able to update it on its own by now - I did get a driver update message in the task bar after enabling it on the next boot. If I plug it into the rear eSATA port as opposed to the external port my case provides it gets detected in the POST process on a new screen (which is a total waste of 5-10 seconds waiting for it to advance - so much for enabling quick post). If I use the case's eSATA extension that is connected to a motherboard SATA port it doesn't even get detected during the boot process.
I don't know if this is a motherboard issue or a Windows 7 issue, or both. It seems so weird that the eSATA drive used to get detected at least. Now it's just nothing. I really miss that faithful old XP. I never used Vista but if 7 is an improvement over it Vista must have been hell. Explorer and Gadgets are constantly crashing on my computer. Windows Gagdgets will routinely crash within 30 seconds of reaching the desktop. I can't even use MSI's Live Update feature. After running it I get a message saying the service isn't enabled! Please tell me I'm not the only one experiencing these ridiculous issues, and please help me with my eSATA problem because I'm at my wit's end!

Yup, RAM marketed expressly for Intel i7 & X58 3 channel rigs is not what you should buy for 2 channel AMD rigs. Get some made for AMD dual channel rigs. 1/2 of your problems are probably caused by that.
I thought that Designed specifically for the Intel X58 chipset / Core i7 was just some marketing thing and all that really mattered was RAM pin type supported by the mobo.
Does the motherboard have the 2 blue and 2 black RAM slots because of that? When I first saw them I thought one group was for DDR2 and the other group for DDR3 but I figured there's no way they could put only 2 RAM slots on a board like this. That should have been my clue they meant something more.
Now could I also just get the same exact spec 2 GB stick to fill out the other slot, or is there something that makes this specific for Intel on the technical side of things? For example, could I replace it with this two piece package with the same RAM specs even though it says it's Compatible with Dual Channel Intel Core i5 & i7 CPU for P55 chipset motherboard or is there an AMD type RAM I need?

  • Windows 7 Clean Install won't detect SATA Drive

I'm trying to install Windows 7 on my desktop that is currently running Vista and XP on a dual boot. I want to eliminate the dual boot and do a clean install with Windows 7. I have a Western Digital SATA drive WD2500KS. If I try to install "custom" it will not detect the drive and wants to load drivers. If I try to upgrade it shows the drive and both partitions and want's to know which partition. I ran the Windows 7 compatibility program and it shows the drive and no issues pertaining to installation. How do I get a clean install to recognize the hard drive? Processor is Intel Core2 Quad CPU 2.4 Ghz.

What machine is this? homebuilt or OEM?
Do you have a Dell computer? It appears that the built-in Dell SATA drivers aren't recognized during the Windows 7 extraction portion of setup (when your BIOS is set with RAID Autodetect / AHCI).  Might also work for a non-Dell PC:
note: you should install the latest BIOS update from Dell's support.dell.com website first, or your manufacturers website for a non-Dell computer.
    1. Boot into the BIOS (press F2 while the Dell splash screen is showing, will be different for a non-Dell).
    2. Go to Drives > SATA Operation. (will be different for a non-Dell)
    3. Change from "RAID Autodetect / AHCI" to "RAID Autodetect / ATA".
    4. Press escape, choose Save / Exit.
Also, play it safe, shut down your PC and disconnect all USB devices (except the keyboard / mouse, they do not need to be disconnected) before trying to reinstall.

  • Macbook Pro won't detect internal drive.

So Last night my macbook pro fell off a desk about 2 feet high. At the time I was running Iweb on it. I thought everything was okay but after about 15 minutes it bagan acting slow. When I would click something it would take about 5 seconds for the computer to register the command. I thought maybe it was more due to being on all day. So I figured I would give it arrest. I shut my computr down and went to bed.
MIdday the next day I turn my computer on and find that it just stays on the boot screen never getting to the log in window. So I decided to do a hardware test with the disk that  came with my comp. But the test never finishes. It just keeps going and going. It would almost reach the very end and stay there. SO then I decided to just reinstall with the install disk that cme with my comp too. But the install disk does not detect a drive.
I tried the "single user mode" 3 times and it tells me the drive "can not be repaired" and that it was "modified" So I then proceeded to check system profiler and under ATA it says "This computer contains no ATA devices". Under serial-ATA I see the HItachi HTSS.... under NVidia MCP89 AHCI.
Does this mean my Drive is just dead. I never backed up any of my files. I was thinking about buying an external hard drive from fingerhut since it's the only kind they have up there and they do financing. http://www.fingerhut.com/product/Electronics/Computers-Tablets/Hard-Drives-Stora ge/Western-Digitals-500GB-External-Hard-Drive/pc/25275/c/25299/sc/25844/NT324.ut s
My warranty just ranout 6 days go >_< is there anything I could do to fix my hard drive?
Also could it be a bad connection to the drive and not the drive itself. If I take it to the apple store can they figure out which one is the problem?

I can understand that financing is important if you really need to get something but can't put up the full price.  That drive goes for about $99 (US).  Fingerhut is selling it to you for $150 (that's a 50% markup).  If you're financing a product in this range, I'd imagine you really need to look out for what you spend...  keep in mind, you're tossing $50 away in doing so.

My active accounts are clean, but the On My Mac gmail keeps and continues to repopulate all email, even after I trash them.
If you're seeing messages remaining in GMail's All Mail folder after deleting them, that's normal. GMail keeps all messages in there, even after deletion, unless you manually delete stuff using GMail's web interface. See Hiding GMail’s “All Mail” from Apple Mail.
If you're actually having trouble deleting e-mail from an On My Mac mailbox, there's probably something wrong with your mailboxes.

  • Photoshop CS6 no longer detects graphics driver

    Hello,
For some reason, most of the GPU features in photoshop (scrubby zoom, 3d, etc) no longer works for me. When I checked in the Preference->Performance tab, nothing shows up on the "Detected Graphics Processor" tab. I have no idea what could've caused it other than a crash, and a windows 8.1 update. It used to work just fine, and now it just won't detect the driver no matter what.
I run Windows 8.1 64bit with NVIDIA GeForce GT720M as my graphics card. I believe my resolution/other specs are not a problem, since as I've said before it used to work just fine before the crash.
I have tried updating the driver, rollbacking the driver, updating it again, tinkering with the NVIDIA control panel, reinstalling photoshop, resetting photoshop preferences, everything. Nothing changed.
When I tried running the sniffer_gpu.exe, however, I was met with this message:
Could not connect. Error code = 0x80041002
    Vendor string:         NVIDIA Corporation
    Renderer string:     GeForceGT720M/PCIe/SSE2

    OpenGL Version 2.0
    Has NPOT support: TRUE
Has Framebuffer Object Extension support: TRUE
    OpenGL ok
Does the error code has anything to do with it? I tried updating the driver multiple times and it persists, and I've also tried renaming the sniffer_gpu.exe itself
Help would be much appreciated.. I've tried everything I could find online and nothing helped. Do tell if you need more info regarding my device. Thank you.

No, I've been using win 8.1 all along and it worked fine at first. One day the OS just froze though, forcing me to do a forced reset (pressing the power button). I don't really know if that was the cause, but it's one of the only 'major' things that happened that could've possibly caused the problem. That, or a win8.1 update.
I have just tried fixing registries too, but to no avail. I tried updating nvidia to the newest version, rollbacking and updating again, but I have actually yet to reinstall nvidia. I guess I'm going to do that now...
Edit: I missed some lines on the sniffer_gpu.exe output
OpenGL ok, version 1.1 CUDA 4.2.1
    Return code: 3

  • New Oracleasm Libraries not detecting ASM drives consistently

Has anyone run into problems with the new Oracle ASMLib not detecting ASM drives on load and on scandisks commands? My /etc/sysconfig/oracleasm is the standard defaults that I used with the previous version of ASMLib, i.e. I do not specify the exclude or scanorder.
I have noticed that if I run scandisk while specifying the LUN in question, then ASMLib will detect the drive properly. I have also noticed that if I run the "scandisks" multiple times (100's), then it will at times find the proper ASM disks. I have played with various settings in the /etc/sysconfig/oracleasm file as well with no luck on getting consistent ASMLib detection.
The workaround I have for now is to put a "oracleasm scandisks /dev/sd*1" into my /etc/rc.d/rc.local file.
System is HP BL460c running Red Hat 5.2 with QLogic Driver version 8.01.07.25-fo

    Sergio,
My issue is with the 2.0.5 Version of ASMLib. Previously, I was using oracleasm-2.6.18-92.el5-2.0.4-1.el5.x86_64.rpm. Please see the first section of the screen output for the complete list or Oracleasm installed rpms (latest from OTN). Also, this node was after an immediate OS build with no databases or other activity being done on the node while I attempt to scandisks. I can't imagine that I have drives being repeatedly open/closed.
I do have the following in my /var/log/oracleasm file, but the running of oracleasm was done by the root user and the permissions on the devices have not really changed between 2.0.5 and the older 2.0.4 that I have been using.
    Loading module "oracleasm": oracleasm
    Mounting ASMlib driver filesystem: /dev/oracleasm

    brw-r----- 1 root disk 8, 49 Nov 17 14:04 /dev/sdd1
Anything I can do to troubleshoot?
    Thanks
    Robert
