General overview of Safari 3.0 Windows

[BUG] report for Safari 3.0 (522.11.3) on Windows XP and Windows 2000:
Test Environment:
PIII-650 Intel Speedstep Coppermine, 384 MB SDRAM,
8 MB ATI-RAGE MACH-2 2x AGP in a DELL CPx
Test systems :
Windows-XP Professional Corporate SP2 Hungarian, and Windows 2000 Professional Corporate SP4 English
Safari works fine on both test systems, exept when it's uses too much of
CPU time at once, like too many Flashs on the same page, or it's hanging often when i drop down the preferences menu, what is look like "read only"
exept the menu "browser type" (Opera-Mozilla-Safari). The Bookmarks menu is also read-only. Java runs fine within the Safari, and i was very happy when it was installed onto my Windows 2000 and is the beautiest browser i ever seen on this OS (by the nice font smoothing). But
CSS handling of this browser is not the best ! http://myspace.com/tyotyo and http://myspace.com/leiladoob is my test pages
was definately different as i constructed: the rollover background gif was'nt
displayed as i defined, but that is visible on Opera, on Mozilla and on IE7 also ! The tyotyo page was often crashed. (Simple hanging without refreshing the page exept the flash plugins) so if i moved an other window on the desktop over the safari window that was not refreshed the contents of it just stayed white, but the flashes inside still worked. So then I killed by a task manager and opened again.
Safari is really fast , in rendering simple html or dynamic html pages, but any type of object-content pages is usually displays slower like in other windows browsers.
And where is the Status bar from the bottom? And why can't I resize the main window on every corner? and where is the "states" of the Back button?

Hi David,
Make sure you have the latest version of [TabExposé|http://www.cocoamug.com/tabexpose/index.html] installed. If you already have that version, try following the uninstall directions on their website.
I discovered that they had already been re-written. They are called SIMBL and Tab Exposé.
Are you sure you didn't copy them, rather than move them, to your Desktop? They shouldn't be re-written. SIMBL is a library many of these helpers applications use to function and often a cause of many problems when used with the wrong version of Safari.

  • Safari Opens NUMEROUS Windows Upon Running Program

Whenever I to open Safari, over 80 windows open immediately.  My homepages are two websties and I'll get probably 30 or so windows with my Home "pages" combination, and then another 50 of windows of sites I visted recently.  If I proceed to close the windows out, more open.
Any recommendations? Would reinstalling Safari work? Or does this look like a virus and should I just restore from my time machine backup? My most recent backup is roughly 1 week old and my external has not been connected since this began to happen.
It's worth noting this only happens to Safari--Firefox works perfectly fine. No other odd behaviors (ie. system lag, program crashes, etc.) have appeared.

Try un-checking the "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps" option under the General pane of System Preferences and then opening Safari.    This disables the resume feature in lion.   It isn't a permanant soloution but it might help narrow down if the resume feature is responsible for this.
Edit: It might also be worth fiddiling around with the homepage settings such as setting it to only open blank pages in  new windows and new tabs instead of opening your chosen homepage and see if there is any problem there

After installing the safari update for windows, outlook is now not opening email hyperlinks.  I have set safari to be my default browser but outlook won't open it when I click a link.  I get the following message: "This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Hi mcclausky, you may need to manually remove a policy setting from the registry. You also should scan for malware that might have created this problem.
This article lists scanning and cleaning tools other Firefox users have found helpful: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]].
To check your Windows registry for policy settings that might affect Firefox or other programs, I suggest consulting a Windows forum or Microsoft's forums. For example:

  • Cannot type in textfield in Safari 5.1 (Windows)

Hi, i find that i cannot type in textfield in the Flash content in Safari 5.1 (windows), but work fine in other browsers . The Flash player is debugger version 11.4.402.278.
tested in my app, and also the following link: http://www.adobe.com/devnet-apps/flex/samples/flex4_sparkinc/spark_inc.html

    timbosta,
I had the same problem and resolved it by installing Mircrosoft's intellipoint software for my mouse at http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/downloads. I was then able to add Safari as a program that doesn't scroll correctly as garyfromoz points out. My scrolling issues are now fixed. Good luck.

Safari on the PC does render differently than IE, FF and
    Opera. The
fonts are bolder, but thats all I have ever noticed. There
    isn't
anything you can do about it.
I think most PC users with Safari only use it to test sites,
    as most PC
users will use IE or FF. How does it look on a Mac?

  • Possible reset safari and downloads window bug

I have noticed, at different times on different macs...
Reset safari, open the downloads window and the items in there do not clear out. In fact, it takes two reset Safari's to clear them out. Now, I have them set to download to desktop and not the downloads folder. I can reproduce 1 out of 3 times.
    Safari 3.1.2 and Safari 3.2
    Message was edited by: powerbook1701

I have checked on multiple computers and even the Apple Retail store, the issue continues to happen, but there is no rhyme or reason what the trigger is:
I have noticed with Safari 3.2 and 3.2.1 that when resetting Safari, the downloads window does not always clear out. Upon an additional reset, the window does clear out.
If the downloads window was open, then you close it, reset safari, and then reopen the downloads window, whatever was there is still there (until you reset again).

  • Yesterday while on WiFi at an international airport, I suddenly lost content in Safari and a window popped up that suggested that someone was trying to spoof setup.iCloud. Do I need to be concerned about malware or other residual problems.

Yesterday while on WiFi at an international airport, I suddenly lost content in Safari. A window popup suggested that someone was trying to spoof setup.iCloud. After arriving home to my own network, Safari still was acting strange. Do I need to be concerned with possible malware or other destructive software remaining on my iPad?

  • Can't start Safari 4 on windows xp

I recently installed Safari 4 on windows xp.
At first it seemed to work fine, then it froze when I had over 6 tabs open.
    None of them would refresh.
I had to end the process to shut Safari 4 down.
I was able to restart Safari a couple more times but eventually Safari just won't start at all.
I restarted the pc a few times. I uninstalled and reinstalled Safari 4 but nothing works.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks your help is appreciated

I'm having a similar problem on Vista Home Premium (64bit). Safari 3 was working fine but after running the Apple Updater and installing Safari 4 it will not display on desktop. Checking processes running Safari is resident and running, consuming about 13mb of mem, zero cpu cycles, and 3 threads. I have a 4 cpu system (x9650) with 4gb mem. Tried completely removing (using the apple uninstaller and windows uninstaller)and re-installing with a fresh download of Safari 4. Still will not display the browser.
Tried searching the web for others having this problem but not seeing much out there. Either these are corner cases or people are just giving up. Any thoughts on next steps?

Safari opens new windows 1/3 the size of the original window. How do I make it open fullscreen?

    HI,
Drag the bottom right corner out as far as it will go. Relaunch Safari. It should remember window position.

  • Does Safari run in Windows Server 2008 R2 (Terminal Services)?

does Safari run in Windows Server 2008 R2 (Terminal Services)?

    Hi Jess,
Here are two things I suggest you check:
The Monitoring interval is set to 900 minutes, would the profile size get reduced after 15 hours and run
    gpupdate/force?
Since the Sessenv.dll version is higher than the ones described in KB 2575946, the issue is supposed to be fixed. I suggest you run System File Checker to scan all protected system files.
In addition, you can also collect Gpsvc.log to determine if policies are applied successfully.
    More information for you:

  • Safari Cycle Through Windows

Did anyone ever discover a solution to the Safari Cycle Through Windows issue introduced with Snow Leopard.....ie, where, rather than cycling through windows in the order in which they were opened, Safari started cycling through windows (with the Command-tilde combo) almost randomly (I know its not random, but it still annoys me after all this time).
I've searched and searched, and can find nothing, so I guess not.
    Hendrix

Strangely, one of the things I had already tried so many times, worked.
Changing the shortcut for "Move to next window in active application" under the tab Keyboard Shortcuts in the panel Keyboard and Mouse in System Preferences.

  • Safari opening closed windows

safari opening closed windows when i go off safari and then back on, im worried my iphone have been hacked how do i know

Safari can't reopen closed windows. Are you actually closing the windows by clicking on the little double square to the lower right and then clicking the little x that appears on each page you have open? Or are you just exiting safari by clicking the Home button?
