Generate a PDF doc from binary content.

Hi folks,
I have this scenario: File Adapter <- XI -<ABAP Proxy.
The scenario starts when R/3 runs a report (job scheduled) that invokes an outbound method of ABAP Proxy. Under this outbound method, few parameters are sent to XI, one of them is an xstring. The xstring (binary content) can be a PDF or TXT document, depends of the doc_format parameter value.
I already read some documents and web logs about file format conversions. But my problem is that the XML element is coming in binary (xstring) and I need to generate a new PDF document from that element. All the web logs mention conversion from XML to any other format and not from binary!
My idea is to develop a Receiver File Adapter Module. The Module only picks the binary XML element and converts it in a PDF document giving the name and the format that comes into others neighbors elements of XML.
Anyone knows which classes/methods are needed? Or is there another easy way to do this that am I not seeing?

First, thank you all for the quick replies.
To be clear, I have a binary stream that I want to convert into PDF format and not XML to PDF. So, like I said before, the SDN web logs only mention conversions from XML to PDF and not binary stream to PDF or even others formats. Using XSL I need my source message in XML and that is not the case
Venkat, your approach is develop a module to get the binary stream and other module to convert into PDF format, am I right?

I don't think so, because I can send a word doc but not a pdf?! And my gmail account has plenty of space... And it worked fine before I upated the new version of Ipad. I hope I can find a solution, otherwise I can't use Pages anymore. Any other apps equivalent to Pages?

Problem when loading pdf files from Shared Content

When I load pdf files from Shared Content, I got the following problem: "The selected document could not be retrieved, please try uploading the document again."

Unable to download/save a pdf doc from Adobe Acrobat Reader (in IE8 or IE9)

I can open the pdf doc, but the button that I would normally click to download the doc to my computer is not highlighted. I tried upgrading from IE8 to IE9, but still cannot download. Thanks for any help!

Actually, I had similar issue, but it was FM. Occasionally, when I did a Save as PDF or Save as with HTML, FM went on for a few moment then stoped saving with an error message along the line: Cannot create <some file name>... It kept doing the same thing for several tries until I deleted the previously generated files, then all would be well for a while, until the next time... I don't know it had anything to do with the generated files (PDF or HTML) being opened on a web-browser at the moment. Yet, as I remembered prior to that and verified afterward, in those times that went without such error, those files were being opened as well. Thanks!

HOW TO GENERATE POPULATED PDF?
We used to fill out the forms at work longhand (yes, with a pen!)
Now since we created the form using Acrobat 9 Pro, we just enter the data on computer, and print out the form.
Acrobat 9 form creator was great - I found it quite easy to use.
Now, I'd like to automate the process even further.
Each week we receive response forms from our website (maybe about 20-25). These response forms have about 10 fields that
people have completed with their information.Currently I am printing out the response form and then open up the acrobat form and I enter their information into the pdf (and then print).
1. Is it possible to automatically populate a pdf from the response form ? (without me having to print out the response form and re-enter the data)
2. Is it really complicated; is this something I can do with some software/learning or do i need a programmer?

It sounds like you are using the forms in your local shop and that e-mail may work fine. If e-mail submission works fine (not recommended for normal use, but find in a controlled environment where you can be sure each e-mail client is running MAPI), then add a submit button to submit a FDF or XML data file (I like FDF when using forms in Acrobat, Designer only uses XML forms). You can then import the FDF or XML data to the form and print it. You can even manipulate the FDF or XML data and add it to a database of some form, furthering your processing even more.

Unable to open PDF files from Fileserver Content Source using Browser

The situation is this :
A content source was created to search a fileserver
Search facility finds the files using the browser
Able to open MS Office files from the fileserver
Able to open PDF files that are in the Sharepoint Portal
Unable to open PDF files from the Fileserver
Currently using Sharepoint 2010. PDF Filter is installed and configured on the Sharepoint Server

Not opening pdf docs from websites

We recently installed Adobe Acrobat (full version) 7 onto our computers. For some reason it will now not open any docs that are pdf's from websites/webpages which has rendered my computer virutally useless as I'm an insurance agent and 90% of what I print are pdf's from carrier websites. Thoughts? I've messed with my restricted sites options and some of my security features and am not having luck.

I am using IE, so I did the instructions, but the box was already marked. It so weird, whenever I go to open the PDF's from online it just errors out and says IE isn’t responding. I'm sure it has to do w/ the Adobe b/c that is the only change that was made to my PC between the time it worked and stopped working...

Attach doc from external content server- using Generic Object Service (GOS)

Dear All,
i have intergrated an external content server to SAP using SAP archive link. All the scanned document are there in Content server and corresponding entries are done in SAP.I can search and view document using tcode : OAAD
Please tell me steps for "how to attach a document from external content server using Generic Object Service "
Scenario is : For example when we change any Master records or create a new PO, or do some financial transaction then i need to attach the supporting document which is there in my content server connected to SAP.how do we manual attach a Document in SAP using GOS.
Do we need to do some special configuration to use GOS .please give the steps from initial.

Hello,
Check your configuration of document type assignement to required business document - object type, Archivelink table, content repository in OAC3 transaction.
Goto respective business document > Click on GOS > Create > Store business document - Here you can see defined document type with desctiption. Double click on this the assign your document to this business document. Save it.
This will help in attaching the document to your required business document.
To verify you can check the archivelink table or by transaction OAAD.

Trying to View PDF Doc from IE

Hi.....recently a couple of machines i administer keep getting the following errors when they click on a link to a pdf doc,
Object label badly formatted
that is what happens when i try to view the pdf through IE......if i turn that of so it actually downloads the doc to the temp files folder and view it through adobe reader i got the following error message,
there was an error opening this document. There was a problem reading the document (109)
this has only started to happen recently and only on 2 pcs.
thats versions for all programs are as follow,
OS - XP Pro SP3
IE - 8.0.6001.18701
Adobe Reader Version - 9.1.0

How to generate a PDF document from ABAP program

Hi experts,
I have arequirement where in i need to create a PDF document using program. I have all the data collected into tables and i have used the calss CL_FP_PDF_OBJECT.
A pdf document is successfully created, but unable to open it because of some error. I guess some encryption is missing.
As an alternative I have created a smartform and generated its OTF data in my program and created a PDF. This is working fine.
But as per my requirement, i cannot go for a smart form.
Any help to resolve this issue will be highly appreciated.
