Get File/Put File Kills Home Network Connection

Recently encountered a problem with Dreamweaver CS5 where when I try and put or get multiple files to my server, I lose internet connection. I don't just mean wireless connection, but my entire home network fails. I have to reset my router to regain connection only to have it happen again. I have tried hardwiring the laptop to the router, same thing. I have tried hardwiring the laptop to the cable modem, same thing. When the network fails, my PC that is hardwired to the router also loses connection. I am currently using the newest generation 17" MacBook Pro, 2.66GHz, 8 GB, with Mac OS X 10.6.4, running Adobe Creative Suite Design Premium CS5. My home network setup includes a Comcast cable modem, hardwired to a Linksys router that provides my wireless network as well as a hardwired connection to my PC. I can connect to my server fine and upload and download multiple files with other FTP programs such as Filezilla, but whenever I use Dreamweaver it kills my internet connection every time. I have tried to find other information on this and have only come across a few others who are experiencing this issue and can not find a solution. Please see the following links:
Seems it was a CS4 problem too: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2448960#2448960
Another person thinking it was a Windows issue: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7programs/thread/88a38e07-f050-4800-a1f7 -7b0570f88eaa
Between these threads and my problem I have narrowed it down to a Dreamweaver issue but can not find any solutions besides using another FTP program which greatly hinders my workflow. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Brian

the problem for me was my network cards driver.  I dont know how mac handles drivers but when i changed back to the previous version
of the driver it started working fine.  Before that i had to restart my network when i tried to put a big file with DW.

    hello,
there has been a network or file permission error. The network connection may be lost.
this is the error my client gets sometimes when he wants to save a word document.
when i go in the finder i have no problem accessing that network share, and when i look up the file and check the permissions there is no reason why this error should occure.
    situation :
    1 os 10.3.9 server
    7 os 10.5.5 clients
    1 os 10.3.9 client
office 2004 for mac (version 11.50)
there are 2 10.5.5 clients (emacs) with this problem on a regular base (3-5 times a week). One imac 17" 10.5.5 has this once a month.
it is a wired cat5 network.
any idea what could cause this problem?
    thanks

I found a logical explanation on the following site : http://www.makemacwork.com/office-2004-wont-save-to-server.htm , I am gonna try the steps they describe and post back the result.

  • I hit Forget Network and now cannot get back onto my wireless home network. All of my other computers and iphones are fine.  How do I get the network back?  It shows in my list of networks but when I use the password and try to join it says not connected.

See if the iPad will accept the password after you restart it. It's worth a try.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
You could also try a reset as well.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • TS1135 Cannot process the Photo Book; it fails always at the very last stage with "error occurred while uploading on of your files. Pls check your network connection and click Retry..." Tried at 12 times and no joy!  Can anyone help?

Can anyone help with the Photo Book process?  I have tried at least a dozen times and the Photo Book always fails at the very last stage of the process.  I ordered Buy Book, it assembles the book and files are transferred until the very last moment... it says " An error occurred while uoloading one of your files.  Please check your network connection and click Retry to resend your files."   It fails every time, any advice?  My server is TalkTalk which may explain everything !! ??   Help.

Boot into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, and order from there.
Also make a PDF file of your book according to this Apple Document, iPhoto '11: Preview a book, card, or calendar before you order or print it, before you order to check for errors.  Keep that file to compare with the printed copy when it arrives.

  • An error occurred while uploading one of your files. Please check your network connection and click Retry to resend your file

    Just for the record:
I had received the error message "An error occurred while uploading one of your files. Please check your network connection and click Retry to resend your file" after all data apparently had been uploaded.
After trying everything recommended on the internet, I finally found the culprit: Glimmerblocker, an ad blocker!
(GlimmerBlocker version 1.4.16, Mac OS X 10.7.2 Lion)
Actually, the credit goes to the very patient German Apple support: they had finally asked me: "what software have you installed lately" ... a big applause to the guys there!
    Best,
    Gabriel.

In our case, it was not third party software, but a problem with our router not accepting pings.  If you are using a router be sure to set-up Enable WAN Ping Respond,  in the advanced settings.  I reviewed my wireless router's logs and found that it was blocking ICMP Type 3 packets from Apple's server.  As a result, it would give the message, "An error occurred while uploading one of your files.  Please check your network connection and click Retry to resend your file."  You can find the blocked packets in your log based on the time you clicked the buy button for your iPhoto purchase (in my case about a dozen times).  If your packets are blocked, then that is your problem.
I should have suspected it was the connection since the message plainly said, "...check your network connection...".  However, I discounted this along with so many others based on the forums, since I could connect to the internet.  If there only was a way the message could have gave a little more saying, "Enable your WAN Ping Respond now, or else!"
Good fortune on your road to Macenlightenment!

  • "There has been a network or file permission error. The network connection may have been lost

    Hi,
While trying to save an Excel or (less frequently) Word document, employees at my company have been seeing the error, "There has been a network or
file permission error. The network connection may have been lost."  This is more common when they are connected through the VPN, but it also occurs locally.
The employees all have Win 7 Pro laptops and the file server is Win Server 2008 R2.  I have found suggestions that a Windows update is the cause, but the articles on that all limit it to Server 2003.  Others have suggested setting the program to
save a local copy of remote files; however, while the setting exists in Word, it does not exist in Excel.
If anybody has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

This is a known issue, might try the workaround is a better chooses .

I can not dowload the new updated software for my Ipod touch 4G. When i do I get an error message that says Network connection has timed out. I have done the trouble shooting steps. Downloaded the latest version of Itunes, and checked network connection

Disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall during the download and update usually resolves the timeout error.

  • Why does the iPhone lose home network connection?

My new iPhone 5 keeps losing my home network connection. Any advice? I've tried resetting network settings, turning the phone off and on again and turning the router off and on again. Thanks.

I'm looking into that possibility.......have a cordless phone in the office, a PC, cell phones, etc. Will clear them out and recheck. The maddening thing is that the iBook is totally bulletproof even in that environment. Why would the iMac be having these issues, but not the iBook? Is Airport Extreme more robust, or that much better than Airport?
Even now, the iMac shows no network - yet I'm writing this on the iBook right next to it, and it's had no network interruption whatsoever.
Do you have any knowledge of those "error" notations from the syslog? Could they be pointing to anything else?
    Thanks much.....

  • MHP to home network connectivity

    Hello,
I have a case where I want to connect from an MHP box to the home network. Say I want to connect to my home PC to transfer some data from the box. Is my only option going through the return channel and the providers servers, create a socket to my home PC and transfer through there? Seems like a bit of a long way to go if they are actually sitting next to each other.
Also, are there any good docs available on the limitations of the MHP as opposed to the full Java SDK on a PC? I have read plenty of docs but am yet to see an explicit coverage on this topic. Any help and references would be great.
    thanks,

The SDK-MHP differences are listed in the MHP spec it seems. Its just 1080+ pages so a bit much but buried in there. Thats where I found the differences. I guess you are more interested on the MHP-home network connectivity though.
As for accessing the home network I haven't really found anything clearly stated on that. I will need to do some testing on that myself I guess and make do with using the sockets like the examples do until I find clear answers from somewhere. I'm not sure how to test it though since using the dev kit is not a good example for me as it is all located in the same room. That is even the return channel goes to the same room so it might seem to work even if it doesnt if that makes sence. Someone did tell me it should be easy but I think they regarded it as the same as connecting from any networked device and didn't really have exact knowledge on it. So remains to be seen. Let me know if you find something :).
