Get name fails on automounted volume

here's the script:
tell application "FileMaker Pro"
activate
set mysuperid to (cell "superid" of current record of document "ajoneuvot")
if mysuperid > 0
set mytarget to (cell "superid" of current record of document "ajoneuvot" & cell "g_kuvapaate" of document "ajoneuvot")
else
set mytarget to (cell "reknro" of current record of document "ajoneuvot" & cell "g_kuvapaate" of document "ajoneuvot")
end if
set mysource to choose file with prompt "Valitse kuva" of type "JPEG-kuva" without invisibles
tell application "Finder"
set myname to name of mysource
duplicate mysource to folder "kuvaIN" of folder "vehicles" of startup disk with replacing
if item mytarget of folder "kuvaIN" of folder "vehicles" of startup disk exists
delete item mytarget of folder "kuvaIN" of folder "vehicles" of startup disk
end if
set name of item myname of folder "kuvaIN" of folder "vehicles" of startup disk to mytarget
end tell
end tell
works great when the selected picture resides on a volume which is manually mounted or on local volume.
We have people whose home folder resides on our X server and is automounted. If they try to select a picture from that automounted volume, the script fails with this error (translation from finnish):
can not get name of alias
volumename:thefilepath
is the problem that the volume on which the picture resides is not mounted from finder (the icon is not visible on desktop)?
thanks for any help

You do not need all files for Novel Client. If you want
You can logout all connections using the command "nwlogout -a" and try
    the nwmap command again.
    "/opt/novell/ncl/bin/nwmap -s 138.37.100.118 -d
    /var/opt/novell/migration/cc18/fs/mnt/source/SYS -v SYS"
Looks like the novell client is failed to resolve the IP address. You
can do the following to configure different name resolution methods in
    the following way:
Create a file: /etc/opt/novell/ncl/protocol.conf with data.
    Name_Resolution_Providers=NCP,SLP,DNS
then restart rcnovfsd deamon using the command "rcnovfsd restart"
do you see any NCP errors in the network packet trace?

  • Cluster network name resource 'Cluster Name' failed registration of one or more associated DNS name(s) for the following reason: The handle is invalid.

I'm stuck here trying to figure this error out.
2003 domain, 2012 hyper v core 3 nodes.  (I have two of these hyper V groups, hvclust2012 is the problem group, hvclust2008 is okay)
In Failover Cluster Manager I see these errors, "Cluster network name resource 'Cluster Name' failed registration of one or more associated DNS name(s) for the following reason:  The handle is invalid."
I restarted the host node that was listed in having the error then another node starts showing the errors.
I tried to follow this site:  http://blog.subvertallmedia.com/2012/12/06/repairing-a-failover-cluster-in-windows-server-2012-live-migration-fails-dns-cluster-name-errors/
Then this error shows up when doing the repair:  there was an error repairing the active directory object for 'Cluster Name'
I looked at our domain controller and noticed I don't have access to local users and groups.  I can access our other hvclust2008 (both clusters are same version 2012).
    <image here>
I came upon this thread:  http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/85fc2ad5-b0c0-41f0-900e-df1db8625445/windows-2012-cluster-resource-name-fails-dns-registration-evt-1196?forum=winserverClustering
Now, I'm stuck on adding a managed service account (mas).  I'm not sure if I'm way off track to fix this.  Any advice?  Thanks in advance!
    <image here>

    Thanks Elton,
I restarted 3 hosts after applying the hotfix.  Then I did the steps below and got stuck on step 5.  That is when I get the error (image above).  There
was an error repairing the active directory object for 'Cluster Name'.  For more data, see 'Information Details'.
To reset the password on the affected name resource, perform the following steps:
From Failover Cluster Manager, locate the name resource.
Right-click on the resource, and click Properties.
On the Policies tab, select If resource fails, do not restart, and then click OK.
Right-click on the resource, click More Actions, and then click Simulate Failure.
When the name resource shows "Failed," right-click on the resource, click More Actions, and then click Repair.
After the name resource is online, right-click on the resource, and then click Properties.
On the Policies tab, select If resource fails, attempt restart on current node, and then click OK.
    Thanks

  • Failover Cluster Network Name Failed and Can't be Repaired

I have an issue that seem to be a different problem than any others have encountered.
I've scoured everything I can find and nothing has fixed my problem.
The problem starts with the common problem of the cluster network name failing on my 2 node server 2012 file server cluster.  The computer object was still in AD and appeared to be fine so it was not the common problem of the object
getting deleted somehow.  At the time, there was no other object with that name in the recycling bin, so I don't think it was mistakenly deleted and quickly recreated to cover any tracks, so to speak.
Following one guide, I tried to find the registry key that corresponded with the GUID of the object, but neither node in the cluster had it in its registry (which may be part of the problem).
Since it was in the failed state, I tried to do the repair on the object to no avail.
We run a "locked down" DC environment so all computer objects have to be pre-provisioned.  They were all pre-provisioned successfully and successfully assigned during cluster creation.  The cluster was running with no issues for a month
or so before this problem came up.
When I do a repair on the object while taking diagnostic logs the following 4609 error appears:
The action 'Repair' did not complete. - System.ApplicationException: An error occurred resetting the password for 'Cluster Name'. ---> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: Unknown error (0x80005000)
There appears to be a corresponding 4771 error with a failure code 0x18 that comes from the security log of the DC that states there was a Kerberos pre-authentication failure for the cluster network name object (Domain\Clustername$)
I believe this is what is causing the repair failure.  All the information I found related to security error 4771 was either a bad credentials given for a user account or the fix was to reconnect the computer to the domain.  I can't seem to find
a way to do this with the cluster network name.  If there's a way please let me know.
I've tried a number of things, like resetting the object, disabling it, deleting and creating a new object with the same name, deleting that new object and recovering the original, etc...
Can anyone shed some light on what is going on and hopefully how to fix it other than rebuilding the cluster?  I'm quite close to just tearing it down and building it back up but am hesitant because this cluster in currently in production...
    Any help would be appreciated

    Hi,
I don’t find out the similar issue with yours, base on my experience, the 4096 error
often caused by the CSV disk issue, and the 0x80005000 error some time caused by the repetitive computer object in OU. Please check the above related part or run the validate test then post the error information.
Although I do have a CSV, there doesn't seem to be any problems with it and it was running just fine for a month or so before the problem started.  I double checked and there is no duplicate computer objects, maybe I don't understand what you mean by
    repetitive, could you explain further?
The cluster validates successfully with a few warnings:
    Validating cluster resource Name: DT-FileCluster.
This resource is marked with a state of 'Failed' instead of
'Online'. This failed state indicates that the resource had a problem either
coming online or had a failure while it was online. The event logs and cluster
logs may have information that is helpful in identifying the cause of the
    failure.
    - This is because the cluster name is in the failed state
Validating the service principal names for Name:
    DT-FileCluster.
The network name Name: DT-FileCluster does not have a valid
value for the read-only property 'ObjectGUID'. To validate the service principal
name the read-only private property 'ObjectGuid' must have a valid value. To
correct this issue make sure that the network name has been brought online at
least once. If this does not correct this issue you will need to delete the
    network name and re-create it.
    - This is definitely related to the problem and the GUID probably got removed when we attempted a fix by resetting the object and trying the repair from the failover cluster manager.
The user running validate, does not have permissions to create
computer objects in the 'ad.unlv.edu' domain.
    - This is correct, we run a restricted domain.  I have a delegated OU that I can pre-provision accounts in.  The account was pro-provisioned successfully and was at one point setup and working just fine.
There are no other errors nor warnings.

Apply trace on RAS and look for errors in the RAS logs at the same timestamp.
These errors come for various errors and tracing RAS would give us a better idea.
It might hapen that you observe these errors for reports which takes more than the RAS timeout to export the reports.
Post getting the RAS logs you can try below steps if we see timeout errors in RAS logs.
Copy clientSDKOptions.xml file from <BO install path>\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\java\lib to the machine where your app is running Open clientSDKOptions.xml and change CORBARequestTimeOut from 600000 to a value large enough to allow the report to render, for instance 1200000. Default value is 600000 (10 minutes)
Specify the location of the clientSDKOptions.xml file at run-time. In your JSP or Java files, use the Java method setProperty from the System class. Set the system property indicated by the ras.config key to the specified directory as: system.setProperty("ras.config","c:\temp"). This function call specifies that the clientSDKOptions.xml file in c:\temp is to be used for locating RAS servers.

  • Logout has timed out because the app (program name) failed to quit

    Hi,
I've been having an odd problem with my Mac since I did the last software upgrade.
I upgraded to 10.5.8 and this problem has been occurring sporadically ever since.
Basically, 7 times out of 10, when I try and shut the computer down, I get the following message: "Logout has timed out because the app (program name) failed to quit."
The program apparently causing the problem varies - sometimes it's Photoshop, sometimes iTunes, OpenOffice, etc. Today it failed because Software Update (which I'd just run, in order to install the latest update) failed to quit!
The only way I can get the computer to shut down in this case is to press and hold the power button.
My Mac is a 20 inch 2.66 GHz with 2GB of RAM, and is about 18 months old. Up until the last upgrade I had no problems with it.
Has anyone else had this problem and is there a way to fix it?

    HI,
    Open Activity Monitor (Applications/Utilites)
Click the pop up menu and select: My Processes
You can Force Quit any of the apps you mentioned from that window befoe you shut down.

  • Get name of startup disk JS

I've got an applescript that get's the name of the startup disk using
set macname to get name of startup disk
I'm wondering if the same can be done in a javascript that runs in InDesign CS3....
I need to make the scripts work across platforms and am new to Java Scripting.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.....

    Hi Kasyan!
This is a very old thread, but I came accross it while searching for a solution to put the name of my startup disk in front of a file path in the "ancient" notation where the folder hierarchy is represented with a ":" devider istead of the "/".
    For all lurkers here:
When exporting to fixed layout EPUB using the epubFixedLayoutExportPreferences in InDesign CC 2014, you sometimes need this "ancient" notation when working on a Mac. In the epubFixedLayoutExportPreferences you can assign an array of file paths to external CSS and JS files. And these file paths are in the notation:
    "NameOfTheDisk:NameOfFolder:NameOfOtherFolder:external.css"
    Instead of:
    "/NameOfFolder/NameOfOtherFolder/external.css"
If you do the folder devider with "/" and the root is simply written as a "/" at start of the file path, the export will fail to include the external CSS and JS files.
See this thread in the Adobe InDesign EPUB Forum for example:
Script EPUB export not including JS/CSS with epubFixedLayoutExportPreferences
So let me thank you for this AppleScript snippet to get the name of the startup disk!!!
I have added some lines of code to get the name of the InDesign app more accurately equal of its version number.
I've tested this on my MacBook with OSX 10.7.5. Hope, that the AppleScript part will not break on later instances of Mac OSX.

    Need help !
While running DS job through designer we are getting below error:
ODBC call <SQLDriverConnect> for data source <SErver name> failed: <[>. Notify Customer Support.
    Additional notes:
    1. Source and Target datastore are getting connected properly as i have imported table's definition using it.
    2. Source and target data store pointing to SQL server 2008 R2 express edition DB (64 bit).
    3. It seems like server machine has both 32bit and 64bit drivers installed on it. Please refer attached driverdetails.jpg file for more details.

  • Check_ntlm_password:  Authentication for user ['name'] - ['name'] FAILED with error NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE

    Hi,
We are running a Mountain Lion Server with Open Directory / LDAPv3, as far as I can tell.  My responsibility is to get my CentOS 6.3 box running Samba v. 3.5.10-125.el6 to authenticate users against the ML / OD box.  I can ssh to the CentOS box OK and I can get Guest access to the Samba share to go OK too.  Also, the OD passwords on the LDAP server are set to 'Open Directory' so I guess that means that they are encrypted and the Samba server is set to send encrypted passwords.  But when a user tries to properly authenticate using either say via a Mac client Finder [Command-K], or smbclient, the Samba server will generate this message:
check_ntlm_password:  Authentication for user ['name'] -> ['name'] FAILED with error NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
(I am blanking out the user name on purpose).
Of course there is more to the story, but those are the basics.
Here are the relevant parts of my smb.conf.  FWIW, the CentOS / Samba box is called Jupiter.
    Thank you,
    NickZ

Turns out a printer driver installed on an XP (even W2K(?)) was (apparently?) flooding the OS X SMB server to the point of collapse. Uninstalling the "HP Tools" part of the driver cleared it up. The printer is an HP LJ1300. I had downloaded the full driver from HP.com. I don't know if any/all these conditions need to be matched, but: the printer was on the network using an HP print server JetDirect EX Plus, and the computer(s) in question were connecting directly to it (not via a print server). It's been too long ago, but there were always several errors in the System Log (Win XP Event Viewer) that correlated with the errors on the OS X server.
Proud to say that since that day (10+ months ago) I've not seen it happen again. whew.

  • Attempting to copy to the disk 'IPOD NAME' failed. An unknown error occurre

Hi I keep getting an error when I sync my Ipod.
"Attempting to copy to the disk 'IPOD NAME' failed. An unknown error occurred (-69)."
I have a 20 GB click wheel Ipod. And nothing is working to fix it. Restoring, etc.

I don't know if you've found a fix for your problem or what exactly could be causing it, but I'm wrestling with the same issue myself.
Some say it's happens when your files are corrupted.
If you read this post -- http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=-1&messageID=887569 -- and the subsequent replies there is a work-around to this using MusicMatch and other suggestions that may help.

We have been observing issues with our file Cluster (Windows Server 2012 R2 Std Clustered with 2 Nodes) where File Server gets

and when we try to failover the role clustered disks fail to get offline with an error in event id 1069 Cluster resource ' Disk Name' of type 'Physical Disk' in clustered role 'Role Name' failed, we have to force fully reboot the node which faces this
issue. It works properly for a week and again we get the same issue, this happens with all the disks in different file server roles.

  • How to get name of sbRIO programatically

How to get "name" and "Comment" of sbRIO which I write to sbRIO-9602 in MAX in Identification box (Model, Serial number, MAC address, Name)?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    That shows:
     - IP settings
          - IP adress:        136...etc.
          - DNS name:      MyMaster5                   - THAT IS WHAT I NEED, just in wrong place - in MAX it is not in IP settings, that's why i didn't searched for it there.
          - subnet mask    255.255.255.0
          - gateway          136...
          - DNS server      136...
     - MAC address        00800...
     - serial number        16....
     - system state        Running
     - model name         sbRIO-9602
     - model code          7373
     - password protected restarts?    T/F
     - halt if TCP/IP fails?                   T/F
     - locked?                                   T/F
     - use DHCP?                             T/F
Still there is no "comment" as in MAX. But that's not so important now.
    I have LW Development system 2009 SP1 Profesional, Realtime Development 2009 SP1
    Thanks very much!

  • Why do I get  this error message "This volume does not support permanent version storage."

I get this error message when I save a "pages 09" document edited on my macbook pro but saved to my mac mini (over a wifi network). All my Macs are running 10.9.3. My Mac mini is using time machine to back up to a separate hard drive (USB 3 connection). I Tried using Page 5.2 but it is a disaster over my network, slow, crashes, creates random folders....

According to Apple network volumes do not support built in 'versions'…
OS X Server: "The document 'file name' is on a volume that does not support permanent version storage" alert
If in doubt Google the error text with any personal info removed.
Work on it locally & copy it to the network daily if you need versions, otherwise use a real 'version control system' that you have some actual control over like GIT. It is designed for code projects, but you can cram anything in if you really want.
    http://www.git-scm.com
I suspect Apples file format will make it miserable with Pages, but there are some great Mac GIT apps.
Using Time Machine would be probably be suffice (run it on the Mac you use as the server & then restore versions on that Mac).
