Get rid of the libreadline issue without crashing everything

Hi Guys,
Last week I've made a simple package installation using pacman, and experimented the dark and unpleasant libreadline.so.5 issue...
Searched in forum, and found this post. Thanks to arkham, I was able to solve this issue using Live CD.
However, I got plenty of boxes running Arch, some of them being VPS, which I can't physically access... So using Live CD to restore them all is not acceptable solution.
In his post, arkham says to always upgrade system using -Syu switches. However, the -u switch ask me for several updates I *don't* want to perform, such as netkit-telnet, portmap, iproute, etc... Which results in unresolvable package conflict:

All of these boxes are live servers running several websites, and I can't afford to crash them for a long period of time (ie: even 30 mins is unacceptable for my clients), so my question is: How can I fix my distros to get pacman up and running again, without upgrading iproute, portmap...
I'm aware my question may lack of details, so tell me if you don't get my point.

From man /etc/pacman.conf:
IgnorePkg = package ...
Instructs pacman to ignore any upgrades for this package when
performing a --sysupgrade.
Although, there may be problems with the dependencies; to be completely honest, I'm not sure that archlinux is usable in a production server (if you want to keep it up-to-date).

RESTORE NOT NEEDED TO RESOLVE "OTHER" SPACE ISSUES
I may have a solution for this as I also experience this problem on the iPad 4 (retina display) 16gb where by I had over 2gb as "other space"
First and foremost "other space" should be between 800mb and 900mb - these are preferences, apps, syncing data (not the actual photos your contacts yo may sync)
I plugged my iPad into computer and did my normal sync
I ejected the iPad.
I turned the iPad off by pressing the on/off button and then sliding across to power down
I waited 5 - 10 minutes
I turned the iPad back on and waited another 5 - 10 minutes
I connected it back to my PC and opened iTunes
I noticed that the 2.74gb "other" space reduced to 835.4mb within a few seconds.
I downloaed iExplorer and installed it (free version will do the trick)
Have iTunes open with iPad already connected
Open iExplorer and click "demo"
Under your iPad navigate to Media> Photodata> Thumbnails
Here you will see the following file names: 158x158, 240x240, and 332x332 with the extension .ithmb - make a note of these file sizes.
Right-click each one and hit delete and click ok if a warning sign comes up
Eject iPad using iTunes
Close any open apps
Do a hard reboot - hold the home button down and the on/off button together until the screen goes black and turns off - this can take up to 10-15 seconds to do
Sometimes the iPad may reboot by itself, and sometimes it may not - if it doesn't use the on/off switch to turn it on.
Open iTunes and then iExplorer and navigate to Media> Photodata> Thumbnails once again
You will see the same files you just deleted - but instead of being the size you made a note of, they will be considerably smaller.
Go to iTunes and check your "other" space and should be within the 800mb to 900mb
This also works with the iPhone 4s and other devices running iOs 4 onwards.
I have several devices currently on iOs 6.1.1 and all the "other" space currently shows between 800mb and 900mb which would appear to be normal

Delete synced photos
In iTunes, locate and click on your device.
Click Photos.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
To delete all synced photos, deselect "Sync Photos from" and, when asked, click "Remove photos."

How do I get rid of the duplicate songs without getting rid of the mp3 version of the song?

I have a library of CDs in several years back I downloaded them into my hard drive on another computer into Windows media player. For whatever reason Windows media player continued to duplicate songs and there's a great deal of space being taken up on my hard drive by songs that I want to identify as duplicated and remove while at the same time keeping at least one copy in MP3 format. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

First see this thread on getting Windows Media Player to play nicely with iTunes.
Next use iTunes Folder Watch to add in any disconnected media files that are still in your media folders.
Now use my script DeDuper to remove all but one copy of each duplicated file.

TS4002 I have two mail accounts. One is called icloud and one is called Icloud. How do I get rid of the Icloud account without removing the icloud account?

Under Mailboxes, there is a list:
     All Inboxes

     iCloud
     VIP
Under Accounts
@ Icloud
(cloud symbol) iCloud
In Settings, there is only one (cloud symbol) account: iCloud
Under Settings ==> Mail, Contacts, Calendars, there are two accounts.
     iCloud is for Mail, Notes, Photos, find My iPad, Documents & Data
     Icloud is only for Mail, Notes
I can turn mail off for the Icloud account. If I turn off Notes, there is a warning: All IMAP notes will be removed from you iPad.
I can turn off mail and notes for the iCloud account. No problems
The Default Account for Notes is Icloud.
I have changed the Default Accounts for Notes to "On My iPad."   Still not able to turn of the notes in the Icloud Account.
And, now for something completely different! The multiple mail box accounts do not show up in the Mail app. There are still multiple accounts for notes.

I went to Notes. Showed all notes. Three notes are duplicated, one on iCloud and one on Icloud. I deleted one of the notes and checked to see if the other still existed. It did. I deleted the other two notes. I check all notes and found that the three notes were deleted on both accounts. The only notes on this device are under On My iPad.
I went into system settings and tried to delete the Icloud account. The warning comes up: This will delete all IMAP notes on your device. Will this also delete the notes in On My iPad?

Will anything happen to the music if you get rid of the computer you have the "home sharing" set up from?

The computer that I originally had all my music and stuff on is old and runs slow. So I did the home sharing thing and all of my stuff is now on my laptop, can I get rid of the original computer without losing all my music? I have a 3rd gen iPod, 4th gen iPod, iPhone 4, an iPad 2 ran through the computer.

Go into BlackBerry Link and click on the BlackBerry and then click on Options. Make sure you have Music, Pictures, Videos and Documents checkmarked for synchronization. Once these are checked, try to remove the files.

How do I get rid of the "other" data on my iPhone 4?

The "other" data on my iPhone 4 is currently taking up 4.5 gb of my 6.4 gb phone. As you can see I'm not very happy about this. I am basically limited too about ten apps and I cannot download iOS 7 due to my lack of storage. I was wondering if there were any ways to get rid if the "other" data without resetting my iPhone. I cannot reset my iPhone because my family has a shared data plan and a limited amount of storage to back up to on iCloud. We don't have enough storage on iCloud to backup the 5.8 gb I'm using because of the other data. Any help?

I badly need your help guys. Im frustrated already with this problem on my coc. Here is the situation. I already have a coc account on my iphone 4g, then i signed in my game center account on my aunt's ipad and downloaded coc, thinking it would automatically load my village and i could play on larger screen. But it did not happened, insted, it created a new village using my game center account. That's related since the process is attempting to load your Safari bookmarks from iCloud, and is crashing for some reason.
Try this:
Select the entire line that follows (triple-click to select it), then control-click, and from the contextual menu that appears, select Services > Reveal in Finder:
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.iCloudHelper
Drag that entire folder to the Desktop.
Quit Safari.
Attempt to open iCloud Preferences again. If it opens de-select Safari.
Launch Safari again and determine if the problem is fixed.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
