Getting a system RT ready a.k.a LabVIEW RT for dummies
Hello All,
We currently possess a PXI-8196 system running windows xp and would like to convert it to run the Labview real time engine. From what I have understood so far, we now have to make the system a dual boot system by changing the the filesystem from NTFS to FAT32 etc.
My query is regarding the application development once the system has been booted with the real time OS. I see constant references to developing the application on a HOST system and then downloading the application to the RT target. Does this mean that I cannot develop my application on the PXI system any more and I need to access the PXI system from another PC on the network?
Shailesh
Hello,
I thought I would post an additional comment on this thread. When working with LabVIEW Real-Time on a PXI controller, you have three options:
1) Install only LabVIEW Real-Time
2) Dual-boot LabVIEW Real-Time and Windows
3) Run both LabVIEW Real-Time and Windows with the NI Real-Time Hypervisor
Most recent PXI controllers from National Instruments are shipped with the ability to boot into LabVIEW Real-Time Safe Mode (to help you get started and install software), and you can do this in the BIOS. This is the best way to either boot into just LabVIEW Real-Time, or (by going into the BIOS on startup) switch between LabVIEW Real-Time and another OS.
The NI Real-Time Hypervisor allows you to actually boot into both OSs at once, so you view and interact with Windows XP -- but LabVIEW Real-Time is also running in parallel on the same controller. This works based on virtualization technology, and can be a good way to reduce the number of computers that you need to work with.
Best Regards,

A recent download of an iTunes update, for some unknown reason, failed on my computer. Since then I get a system error message everytime I log on telling me that the program cannot be opened because 'MSVCR80.d11' is missing from my computer. When I try to open iTunes I get an 'error 7 (Windows error 126)' message and am advised to reinstall iTunes. However, when I attempt to do this, it downloads the programme and gets as far as installation, at which point I get yet another message: this time 'Service Apple Mobile Device failed to start'.
I am at a loss to know what to try next and would appreciate any assistance. I'm also concerned that, in the process of reinstalling iTunes, I am going to lose all the music I have collected over the years.Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

How can I get my system in and out of DOS mode?
How do I get my system in and out of DOS mode?
There is no "Dos-Mode" in OSX.
Guessing that you tried to run an .exe file while in OSX ?
These are meant to be run in Windows.

I get an "install failed" message. "Recovery system can't be created—click restart to return to previous version of OS X." This doesn't work. My Mac continues to try to install Mountain Lion. What is the elegant way to get my system back?
The first time I attempted to install ML was on a late 2011 MBP. It ran for three minutes then gave me the error message: Could not install OSX due to an unexpected error. I was using the original ML install app, not a USB or other drive.
After a couple of restarts wiht the same result I saw a message to the effect that the install was trying to close open apps. I closed apps manually a few times to no avail. I shut down instead of restarting then booted into Safe mode (hold down the shift key when starting) and that did it. The install went smoothly after that.
I since installed ML in two iMacs using a cloned copy of the install app on a USB drive. This time I shut down the computers and booted into Safe Mode first and there were no problems.
I don't know if this issue is the one causing you these problems but it is a simple enough solution to try.

How to get the system date format string?
Hello, everybody!
I want to create a MaskFormatter with a mask for dates. So, I could suply as the constructor parameter: "##/##/####'. However, what if the year comes first in the current system date format settings, or the month is in the second place or in the first?... So, I can't just suppose that the current locale format for dates is like the one above. So, my question is: is there a way to get the SYSTEM DATE FORMAT STRING in Java? Searching in google I saw that this was already asked in this forum:
http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=301034&messageID=1193794
but there was no effective answer. Does someone already know how to get this?
Thank you.
MarcosHi, not sure, but
import java.text.*;
SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat();
System.out.println(sdf.toPattern());
will output something like dd/MM/yy HH:mm

I am trying to get my system current. I am now running Mac OS X, version 10.6.8 (I believe this is "Snow Leopard"). What should I upgrade to?
The current system is OS X 10.8 which is downloadable from the App store, which you can upgrade to directly if your system meets the system requirements. Note that starting with OS X 10.7, PowerPC-based programs will no longer run. So, for example, people with Office 2004 got surprised when they upgraded and found that the older Office programs would no longer run. Newer Office programs are OK.

I have changed my AppleID but I can't get the "system preferrences" to show my new AppleID. What am I doing wrong? I am running 10.9.2. I support multiple devices on this icloud account and they all work fine. Its just the mac mini ...
I found a post with the answer. Basically I just logged out of the iCloud. My concern was that I would loose my contacts. But when i logged back in with the correct AppleID -- it was all there.
Thanks!
