  • I get "medium write error" when trying to burn cds

I tried to burn a playlist from iTunes and it burned one copy, then when I tried to burn a second copy my computer made alot of noise during the "initializing/finishing" stage, spit the cd out and said "medium write error" - i've tried another cd, and tried burning another playlist with the same results. Any idea what's wrong or if there is anything I can do about it???
    Thanks

First, try quitting all other applications except iTunes.
Second, try burning at a slower rate.
Then try a different brand/batch of CDs.
I believe the default burn setting is 'as fast as possible'.
Today I got perfect results at 20x or slower on my mid-2007 Core2Duo MacBook SuperDrive, and about 1 out of 3 at 24x and faster with a major brand name media labeled 'up to 52x'.
Yeah, it takes a little more time to burn each disc, but if you only have a 50% success rate with a faster speed, you're not really saving any time.
The reason I suggest quitting all other applications is that heavy CPU use seems to diminish my burn success rate on all of my computers, including the Windows boxes. Your mileage may vary.

  • I keep getting a 4000 error when trying to burn discs....only been since the update....Help

Ever since the Itunes update, I keep getting an 4000 error when trying to burn my music to disc.  How do I fix this?

    Zachy,
    It goes something like this...
Put your new drive in the enclosure. Use Disk Utility to format it, etc. I'd give it a slightly different name than the original. Let's say you have Old Disk and New Disk as your drive names. Use Carbon Copy Cloner to copy Old Disk to New Disk. Now you should have an exact copy, which you can test by rebooting and holding down the Option key. Choose New Disk from the list and let it boot, make sure all is well.
Shut down and physically swap the drives. Take Old Disk and put it in the enclosure. Now your system has a new disk with a lot more space and you can reformat your old disk and just use it for large files or whatever.

I keep getting an unknown error when trying to connect to the store. I ran diagnostics and it says secure link to itunes store failed. I've tried all suggestions from apple and nothing will work.
    Please Help

I received this email from Apple and this corrected the problem for me...  I only had to reset the iTunes cache
    1) Open iTunes
    2) At the top menu, click File > Preferences (iTunes > Preferences on a Mac)
    3) In the Preferences menu, click the Advanced tab
    4) In the Advanced menu, you should see a button that says "Reset Cache". Please click this button.

  • I am getting an unknown error when trying to download a word document from mail to pages, any help

I am trying to download a word document from mail into pages and I keep getting an unknown error message, are there special settings for this? Any help much appreciated!

Not there aren't any special settings for this. You just use the Open In feature to save the document into Pages. You could have a font in the document that Pages doesn't like, maybe something that you copied and pasted from somewhere into the document that went corrupt. But there is nothing special about the way that you save a Word document into Pages. You save it like you save any document or file into a compatible app.

  • Unknown error when trying to burn

Suddenly I can't burn a playlist. It reads the list, begins the burn, stops, thinks and then closes down. I get the following error message: "The attempt to burn a disco failed. And unknow error occured (4261)." Out of the last 20 attempts, I got 3 discs burned successfully.
Anyone have any ideas? It was working fine a few months ago. I've updated my iTunes version, so that isn't it.

  • Why do I keep getting an unknown error when trying to download an app from the app store on my iPod touch 4th generation when I put in the correct password?

I keep getting the same unknown error has occurred when trying to download an app what is wrong?

as an example.. from the sprint forum for a different device (unsure what device.. it's just not an iphone since no iphone or ios device has these settings -- ive seen this advice several times and I believe it's some form of android.. but not sure)
advice from the carrier advisor --
"Clear data in the Dialer and Dialer storage.... under manage Applications> All.
That is Settings - Applications - Choose All to view All choices - then find Dialer and clear the Data. Repeat this for the Dialer Storage as well. I personally also deleted the message thread first from the text message window and my log history which is a menu item from your call screen."
and another for you from a customer -- it is sprint again.. but this time a Samsung Epic
"OMG ... if someone can't tell me how to fix this "9230: Message sent using invalid number of digits..." error, I'm going to scream.  My husband and I both have Sprint Epic phones and love them EXCEPT for this one problem! Help!"
    Maybe they should sue Samsung?

  • Getting an  Unknown Error when trying to download Ver 2.0

When I try to update the software from Itunes. It asks me about updating and when I select. I get " There is a problem downloading the iPod software for the IPod "Joe's Ipod". An unknown error occurred (-23). I tried to reset the IPOD and got the same error. The ITunes diagnostics said the IPOD is OK. My pod casts and such are sycning OK.

  • Error when trying to burn cds

Every time I use itunes to burn a cd it gets about halfway done, then finishes the disk saying that there was a medium write error. Can someone tell me exactly what this is and what can be done to fix it? I have not attempted to burn with another program because i don't know of any free ones that are decent. Please help.

    i have a similar problem.
in Itunes i get the medium write error prob and the disk is spit out, never to be used again.
to remedy this i tried 2 other types of CD media - have now used Verbatim, TDK, and Sony.
    The problem occurred in all.
I lowered the burn speed to 4x, and the error disappeared, sometimes, however the 'complete' discs that resulted would almost always get to the 4th track and would start skipping a little. after finally reaching the end of the track, the remaining tracks would not play at all. what would happen is that the track number would appear on the CD player was the track number, but then no recognition of track length, and no ability to play beyond this track.
i then tried to do some audio CD's thru Finder, and the same problem occurred as above.
then i d/l-ed "Burn" to see if another program would work. it didn't, the same thing happened.
i have had a suggestion to re-run the original disk that came with my macbook, but this will be a tough task in trying to find it.
does the problem sound like a hardware or software prob?
