Getting Portlet

Hi!
Can anyone help me?
I'm trying to add a Portlet from the Discoverer 's Workbooks.
On the Portal Builder, I 've the following message in the tree items:
- List of Discover´s worksheet
- Discoverer 's worksheet
- Discoverer 's manometer
says: portlet not defined :( ... Why, How can make defined those portlets
Thanks

HI Sudip,
Thanks for the reply.
Can you please give me any sample code or explain me about using the PortletSession API?
I never used that before and want a brief intro on that.
If you have any articles or documentation, that would be real helpful.

  • How to Get Portlet Namespace in a JSP attribute

    Hi All,
    The id of any component in a JSF application (with JSR168 portlets) takes the form
    'view'+'<portlet:namespace/>'+':'+'formname:componentidname';
    I need this id to be used for certain validations.
    Currently I am using it as below :-
    <h:intputText required="#{ ! empty param['viewns_7_CGAH47L000NAF0I04I42ND10P7_:form:login']}"/>
    Presently I have hardcoded the portlet namespace 'ns_7_CGAH47L000NAF0I04I42ND10P7_' by looking into the html source of the rendered page.
    Is there any way by which i can automatically get this portlet namespace within the param tag in the jsp.
    I know for a fact that within javascript tags, it can be used as <portlet:namespace/> as shown below :-
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function doSomething()
    buttonId= 'view' + '<portlet:namespace/>'+':'+'formName:buttonId';
    document.getElementById(buttonId).disabled = true;
    </script>
    Kindly treat this on high priority.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Darshan Shroff

    Perhaps so.
    I need to use it within param as below
    <h:inputText value="#{bean.userid}"
    required="#{!empty param['viewns_7_CGAH47L00GLRE0I0BCOUKS00I5_:form:login']}" />
    Here 'viewns_7_CGAH47L00GLRE0I0BCOUKS00I5_:form:login' is actually
    'view' + '<portlet:namespace/>'+':'+'formName:buttonId';
    I am just trying to check the presence of the client ID in the request paramameter map inorder to attain action dependent requiredness.
    Kindly tell me how i could access it within param.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Randomely getting portlet consumer error on portlet

    Hi Team,
    On my portal page I have dropped four instances of same portlet on my portal page, and I am running my portlal application.
    I get to see a strange behavior amongst my portlet instances.
    1)Some portlet instances are rendered successfully but some instances show portlet consumer error.
    2)The behavior is not fixed and portlet instances are rendered successfully randomly for some instances and fail for some when the portal page is refreshed continuously.
    I am getting following exception on the server side for failed instances.

    When you look at the error you get and find some info about it, i get following info:
    WCS-39507: Iframe content request checksum verification failed. Cause: The checksum verification of the parameters in the request for Portlet markup in the iframe has failed.
    Action: This may indicate that a deliberately modified request for Portlet content has been made.
    Level: 1
    Type: WARNING
    Impact: OtherIt seems that something is modifing the request of your page while it is unexpected so the checksum of the request is not correct.
    Have you tested this in every browser? Have you set up some sort of URL rewriting which may cause this error?

  • How do we get Portlet id not Portlet Instance ID?

    Hi,
    I want code/approach to get the portlet id (*not portlet instance id*) so does anyone know how to get it.
    Thanks in advance...
    - HJ

    kfrender,
    Thanks for your reply...
    I understood that PortletID is something different than Portal InstanceID and PortletDefinitionID but I was wrong, it's not the case for which I was asking.
    I wanted PortletID because I have writtent code in which I can add portlet at runtime on any page, so in that requirement PortletID is nothing but Portlet Definition ID.
    thanks everyone...

  • Get portlet name/id

    HI if anyone can help me ,i'd greatly appreciate!!!
    Is there any way to get the portlet name/id programmaticly?
    I want ot manipulate the data inside the portlet based on the name.
    THANKS

    Sure,
    Here's a brief sample showing what you need.
    First, make sure you include the portlet libraries you need.
    using Plumtree.Remote.Portlet;
    Then in your Page_Load method you need to initialize the portlet context and request.
    IPortletContext ptContext = PortletContextFactory.CreatePortletContext(Request, Response);
    IPortletRequest ptRequest = ptContext.GetRequest();
    Now that you have the portlet context and request objects, you can get the values you need.
    ptRequest.GetCommunityID();
    ptRequest.GetPortletID();
    Getting the portlet name is a little more involved.
    ptContext.GetRemotePortalSession().GetPortletManager().QuerySingleObject(ptRequest.GetPortletID()).GetName();
    That should hopefully get you started. Good luck!

  • Getting portlet/JSP trough SOAP

    Hi!
    Problem: we need to access portlets/JSPs running on OC4J form SharePoint server (.NET technology ...).The idea is to create a web service and use SOAP to communicate. Just creating a Java class that requests those pages and sends HTML response by SOAP seems ineffective (and useless, it could be done by .NET).
    Is there a way around? How wold you proceede? Can those portlets be accessed in an other, more effective way?
    Thanks for your input!

  • Getting Portlet Session.

    HI,
    I have indidual portlet applications deployed in OAS Portal 10G. I need to pass user related information to all applications which are indidual portlets to do some co-branding. I know that I can append these as a parameter to the Portlet URL. But I don't want to do that. Apart from that what are the possible options to put that in Session and access them in other portlets?
    Please let me know.

  • Poor performance - portlet timeouts

    I have a Portal instance running Oracle 8.1.7.2.0 and 9iAS 1.0.2.2.1 (Portal 3.0.9.8.2) on a 4 CPU Sun Solaris 2.6 box. Performance is totally unacceptable.
    Navigation between pages is very slow and the portal consistently has portlet timeout issues. Even the standard Oracle "Welcome" page gets portlet timeouts. Typically, one of two messages is returned in place of the portlet:
    1. Error: The portlet could not be contacted. The listener of the provider may be down, or functioning improperly.
    2. Error: Timeout for content=xxxxx.
    Refreshing the page usually makes the errors go away.
    tkprof doesn't show anything unusual with the portal30 schema, but CPU utilization goes way up when a user navigates to a new page.
    Has anyone experienced a similar problem?
    Thanks!

    I've included a portion of my jserv.log file below if this could help anyone diagnose the problem...Thanks

  • Portlets with ADF faces does not work

    Hello
    I am trying to portlize an hello world ADF application but am unable to do so because of the situation describe below. I have tried all the options given on this post but nothing seems to resolve the issue.
    I have followed the instructions of portelizing at http://download-east.oracle.com/otndocs/tech/webcenter/files/owcs_10132_bridge_viewlet.html
    A simple portlets without AFD works fine in oc4h or webcenter or jboss, but when I include ADF in the project then none of the application server or the container works
    I am using jdeveloper 10.1.3.2.0 and the embedded webcenter oc4j for this test
    I have two projects

    I have already registered a producer called[b] ADFFacesDemoProducer in test1 project with 300 sec as timeout. Now when I run the test1.jsp page in oc4j container I get the following error. I have tried all the options in this forum and nothing worked.

    Then I tried to deploy the test1.jsp as a WAR file in the webcenter OC4J and tried this URL
    http://localhost:6688/AdfFacesDemoTest1/test1.jsp
    but it gave me this error
    500 Internal Server Error
    Servlet error: An exception occurred. The current application deployment descriptors do not allow for including it in this response. Please consult the application log for details.
    When I tried this URL I got a diffrent error. Googling this did not help at all

    Hello dvohra,
    Thanks for the reply but I have done everything before I posted my message on this forum
    1. Is the Portlet Faces Bridge library in the project libraries?
    yes in both test1 project and ui project. ui project is where the ADF application is and test1 is where the producer is registered
    2. I sent the web.xml earlier in the forum. Yes it include the tags
    here is it again

    3. Yes it include that tag also. Please see the web.xml I pasted above
    4. Yes I deployed it as the simple WAR file and NEVER as a WebCenter Application WAR
    I am assuming that when you refer to web.xml you refer to the one in my ui project where the ADF application is . There is another web.xml file in test1 project where I try to test the portlet. That web.xml is also pasted in my earlier blog
    Any other idea ?
    thanks a lot

  • How to form a URL dynamically in my portlet

    hi all,
    i have a requirement in weblogic portal 10.2,how do i form my URL dyncamically in my portlet which is as below
    I have a requirement to dynamically form my URL. Further suppose I have a left navigation portlet which has 3 links and right navigation portlet should show the content for the respective links clicked on left navigation portlet.so in this scenario I need to dynamically create my url which I need to display on the right hand side portlet
    Dynamic access to portlet B
    Portlet A ------------------------------------------> Portlet B
    The Url which has to be displayed on portlet B has to created dynamically in my portlet A,
    i.e portlet A should dynamically access portlet B and the page of Portlet B which has to be displayed and create the URL,Once the URL is formed I should be able to access portlet B,
    Portlet A ---> access Portlet B context ---> get portlet B context ----> get Portlet B output jsp page and hence form the url
    Portlet A = (Portlet B context) + (get Portlet B output jsp page)
    = Well formed URL of output jsp page which is in the right hand portlet B
    If u have the source code pertaining to above/material.please share it with me.
    Thanks

    Henrik, the Java importer lets you call Java classes on the app server side - I think what Ali is trying to do is integrate on the client side.
    If you want to add your own button then if you extend the standard Forms button in Java and then use this class name in the implementation class property then the Java for your button will be used instead of the standard Forms button. And since it has extended the basic Forms button it has all the standard button functionality.
    There is a white paper on OTN about this and we have created a new white paper which will be out in a couple of months (I think).

  • Portlet unavailable error in Webcenter application

    I have developed a portlet application by using wsrp standand-based java portlet in the windows environment. There is no problem when I deployed the application to the preconfigured webcenter oc4j in JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0.
    But when I deployed it to the webcenter suite which is also installed in the windows, I have got portlet unavailable error.
    I have already used the predeployment tools to change the portlet url endpoint so that it points to the webcenter portlet producers.

    Have you tried deploying the portlet to the application server, consume this portlet producer in your development environment (JDeveloper), and deploy the application without re-wiring the portlet producer connection?
    This approach may take us closer to the problem.
    Also, a full stack trace would be helpful too.

  • Using GenericPortlet sublcass .. cannot get any log messages to come out.

    Hi all ..
    I'm having a lot of problems getting any exceptions or log messages dumped from my portlet to help me debug.
    I'm currently using subclass of javax.portlet.GenericPortlet and not a sublcass of com.sun.portal.providers.jsp.JSPProvider. Does that matter? Anyone know if there are issues that I might be running into here?
    More details ..
    I've tried making nice PortletException wrappers around all sorts of other exceptions .. and even using the API call:
    GenericPortlet.getPortletContext().log(<msg>,<throwable> )
    I've tweaked every debug/log/show exception config setting I can find .. including setting logger.log.level=ALL in:
    /etc/opt/SUNWps/portlet/PDConfig.properties
    It'll mostly fail with nada .. zilch .. zero. No hint or reason why. Occasionally I'll get something useful and I'll see an exception I made .. but the other 95% of the time I get no hint.
    I've a script that searches for any file touched in /opt/SUNW*, /var/opt/SUNW* and /etc/opt/SUNW*. I regularly get the following files touched:
    /var/opt/SUNWam/debug/portletcontainer.log
    /var/opt/SUNWam/debug/<myportlet>.log
    /var/opt/SUNWam/debug/desktop.debug
    Can anyone tell me where I should expect to see PortletExceptions logged? How do I turn that feature on .. just in case I've missed the config I need to change? Has anyone had any luck using the PortletContext.log(<msg>,<throwable) API calls? Is there some config that controls where that goes? (I would've assumed it all goes in the <myportlet>.log file .. but not for me.)
    Many thanks for your time ..
    Curtis.
    p.s. Below is an example of some of the messages I do see.
    One instance I get "ERROR: Content not available" .. I get a series of
    rather unhelpful internal exceptions that (for example) complain the portlet threw an exception of some sort. If only the root cause had been printed out it would be possible to nail exactly what's going on in my code that's the issue. Unfortunately this style of "black box" debugging is taking me 10 times (literally .. honestly!) longer than it should. I have to comment out stuff and slowly add it back in again .. if only I could've seen the exception.
    (NOTE: I modifed PrefPortlet.java example .. still called the same at the minute :-) )

  • Portletizing ADF Faces - Portlet Unavailable - Is there a Working Sample?

    Hi,
    It seems I have run into a similar issue as some people before me. I have watched all samples, read all relevant forum threads and yet I cannot solve my problem.
    I have created a very simple ADF Faces applications that uses DataBinding - it displays records from a database table in an af:table component based on ADF BC. I have created the page, added the Portlet Faces Bridge library to the project, created the portlet.xml, copied and pasted and configured the Portlet.xml contents for my Portlet. Deployment is to a local yet standalone WebCenter containing OC4J instance. Note: deploying to the preconfigured OC4J also did not work.
    When I register the Portletproducer, consume the portlet in an otherwise empty JSF page and run that page, I get the Portlet Unavailable message in the page. The error log is shown below.
    I am wondering where to go from here, what can I try to analyze? And also: is there a working sample available for download of an ADF Faces based portlet that can successfully be consumed by an application?

    1) ui where the ADF appplication is and
    2) test1 where the producer is registered and is tested
    In ui I have a simple jsp page untitled1.jsp with just one adf component (ADF Command Link)
    Here is the source of untitled1.jsp
