Getting rid of MDT error - for good

Our reference build takes about 7 hours to build too with the WSUS updates included. I guess my confusion is we have never had this issue. But we specifically install IE 11 (before) we run the WSUS updates and not let wsus install IE11 (we did this because when we were developing the reference image we were not running the wsus updates part because it was taking too long between iterations with the updates but we still wanted a fully equipped system for validation). We only enabled the post application wsus updates. There is no other reference to IE in our task sequence. We started with a standard task sequence and then modified it from there. So that is why I'm a bit confused why this setting is getting into your unattend file.

One of those gotchas that I want to kill permanently.
Trouble starts when deploying a patched image - with a version of Internet exploder higher than the original Win7 ISO - seems the stock task sequence always includes "skip IE welcome message" - a deprecated setting - so unless I remember to tell it not to write that setting, the first deployment always bombs, I swear, hose the setting, and move on.
Anyone know if the base code can be altered so the standard client task sequence has this setting removed? The only time I go back to the ISO is to build a new patch image, and hence this little time bomb only exists to whizz me off?

  • How to get rid of old calenders  -  for good?

    Hey,
I have one problem concerning iCal, iSync and iTunes: When I select the calenders that I want to sync with my phone and my iPod, the result is awkward: Some calenders are not synced at all, others are not entirely synced (entries are missing).
Here is what I did some time ago: I had some problems with iCal some months ago (crashing "iCal Helper" app), so I saved my calenders one by one, deleted the iCal settings then and imported the calenders again one by one. However, it now appears, that iCal only syncs those entries to my devices, that are the repeating entries from the OLD calenders, i.e. the entries, that I did before trying to fix iCal. Hence, the new entries, that I have entered into iCal after fixing the "iCal Helper" app seem not to get synced.
Does anyone know a solution for that? How could I, after having saved my calenders one by one again, completely delete the old settings? I guess, that might help... I'm thankful for your suggestions!
    Kind regards,
    schmitten1981

Problem solved. I made a reset of the Sync-history (iSync > Preferences).

  • Getting rid of Norton.  For good!

I put Norton Antivirus on my Mac Pro about a year ago. I quickly realized its uselessness and removed it. I have recently upgraded to Leopard and there are still options for Norton when I right click! How do I get this to go away? Spotlight shows nothing when I search for any hint of the program.

Go to the Symantec web site, and under support for Norton Antivirus for Macintosh do a search for "uninstall". They have an uninstaller you can download and run which seems to work.

My iMac (2011) has been persistently throwing this error message: "SafariDAVClient quit unexpectedly." This started when I moved up to Mavericks, from Lion. That's related since the process is attempting to load your Safari bookmarks from iCloud, and is crashing for some reason.
    Try this:
Select the entire line that follows (triple-click to select it), then control-click, and from the contextual menu that appears, select Services > Reveal in Finder:
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.iCloudHelper
Drag that entire folder to the Desktop.
    Quit Safari.
Attempt to open iCloud Preferences again. If it opens de-select Safari.
Launch Safari again and determine if the problem is fixed.

  • Desktop Manager "disconnected" and I can't get rid of the error message

I just purchased a Blackberry Curve 8530, running v5 software, my computer is Windows 7. I installed the 501_b073_multilanguage software that I downloaded from Blackberry's website. When I launch the Desktop manager I get this message: "Before you begin, verify that your current BlackBerry device is connected to your computer." The troubleshooting posts I've seen on this forum include many tips (the ones I've tried are below). One in particular I can't do is "The desktop manager is showing "disabled."
-Make sure that the user has gone into the desktop manager and selected options > connection settings > detect."
... because I can't get rid of the error message dialoge box, and I can't click on the options menu in the BB Desktop Manager.
    I have tried the following:
uninstalled it and reinstalled it twice - 2nd uninstall was a "hard" uninstall where I deleted the registry files by hand
moved the cable to the USB port in the back (after trying both the ports in the front) of the computer
    restarted the computer many times
hard booted the phone by removing the battery
plugged in, removed, and replugged in the phone.
    Also:
The phone is installing correctly when I plug it in, but the software still doesn't seem to see it.
In the Device Manager, the BlackBerry is showing up under Portable Devices. Double-clicking on it gives me the reassurring "This device is working properly." message.
The Com1 port is working properly also, according to the Device Manager.
Double-clicking on the device manager icon to get the properties shows that the Com1 port is "disconnected" -- when I try to configure it it just pops back to the disconnected state.
If someone has an idea or something I haven't tried I'd sure appreciate it!!
    Thanks!

    Solved!

Okay, folks, after a 3 1/2 hour phone call with a (very patient) telephone support person at Blackberry, here's what I learned.
You can check your USB drivers this way:
Plug in your phone into your USB drive. Assuming your Blackberry is "seen" by your computer...
Go into the Device Manager on your computer (control panel)
Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers item on the bottom of the list
Right-click on BlackBerry Smartphone and choose Properties
    Click on the Driver tab
Click on the Driver Details button
You should see one driver. I saw two. The one the BlackBerry likes is the RimUsb one.
So here's what NOT to do: We tossed the entire driver that was the "extra". This effectively made using my mouse and keyboard impossible, as they are USB, and sent my poor husband into the basement to find a million-year-old keyboard (and then a mouse) with the old fashioned kind of connectors (PS2). Bleh. Don't do that.
Here's what I did that worked (not saything this will work for you -- this modifies the Registry so better do a system backup with that backup and restore if you're nervous about this sort of thing):
From the start menu, choose run, and type regedit to get into the Registry editor.
Follow this file path: Computer, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SYSTEM, CurrentControlSet, Control, Class
    Click on: {36FCE60-C465-11CF-8056-4445535400000}
If there's an item on the right called "UpperFilters", delete it. (see pictures)
    Hope this helps someone.

Second pic: shows full file path and "after"

  • Cant get rid of download error message in garage band learn to play

I had trouble downloading lessons 5 and 7 in the Blues Guitar learn to play.  I found a discussion addressing this, and was able to complete the down load by logging into the guest account.  I have all the lessons, but now I can't get rid of the error message that says Garage Band still is waiting to download the lessons.  When I click on the message it refers me to call the Apple Store.  I was in their electronic feedback loop for 15 mins before I bailed.  Any ideas?

Might be easiest to run their uninstall app.
This might mean you have to reinstall it if it is already deleted or better yet download and just mount the volume to open the folders to get to the uninstaller.

How do I get rid of the error message "There was an error connecting to the server “Office AirPort Extreme” ?  This message shows up 3 times when I boot my iMac.

I do have a USB hard drive hooked up to the Airport.  I've never created an AppleScript for it.  Should I disconnect the USB drive and see if I still get the error message?
    Thanks for your reply!

I've just seen this message for the first time and it's showing on 10 devices.
What I really love about Apple Configurator is the copious amount of context driven help offered to you.

    The device was disconnected.
Check the USB connection to the device."

    It happens on multiple PCs

All menu content, include motion, is limited to 1 Gig.  This is not easy to calculate.  This is not a common error unless you are over.
When projects are revised, particularly numerous times, Encore may not correctly remove old elements.
Easiest method here is probably to start the project over.  You can import the menus from the old project.
You can also close this project, and try clearing the media cache.
