Getting the size of a file on the application server ?
hi,
hi everyone !
i' m trying to transfer a file with the function module FTP_R3_TO_SERVER...
But for this, i need to know the size of the file i wish to transfer...
I found out nothing about this, but if anyone have any idea, it would be really helpful...
thnks.
HI,
Why don't you use a ShellScript for FTPing your file.
You can execute it via ABAP and it will probably does the same
but you don't have to know how big the file is.
can think of a few:
1) Check the F1 help on READ DATASET. It has the addition LENGTH which you should be able to use for this purpose.
2) Call function SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE for command LIST_DB2DUMP. Parse the returned table. You may need to explicitly pass 'UNIX' or 'Windows NT' to the OPERATINGSYSTEM parameter.
3) CALL 'SYSTEM' ID 'COMMAND' FIELD 'ls -l' ID 'TAB' FIELD result-sys.
4) Disect AL11 and make use of the same C-calls
There's probably more...
if u r sending the data form presentation server (SAPFTP)
use
describe table itab line lin .
size = lin * width of internal row
If u r sending the data form application server
read the data in applicaion server file in ur prg internal table and calculate as above and size of file in ftp_r3_to_server fun module
Cheers,
Chandra Sekhar.

Hi guys..!!
I would like to know if someone could help on this:
I just have a HP printer (HP Designjet 100) and for some reason I need to install a file for all the HP printers drivers in total 590MB to be able to use my printer in my mountain lion???
If normally the size of my files in the for previous software was more or less 5MB why now i need to install 590?
Some one could help me how to avoid installation of 590MB for my new mountain lion software???
ThanksIf you go to http://support.apple.com/downloads and locate the HP Printer Drivers installer, you will find that it is 473.4 MB (for version 2.11). If you install this, it will install the full set of drivers for every model of HP printer that is supported by the drivers distributed through Apple. The disk space occupied once installed will probably be larger than the download, since the downloaded file is compressed.
On the other hand, if you have an HP printer connected and you use Software Update (or the Update tab in App Store), that should offer you a much smaller set of HP drivers, which are only applicable to your printer (and possibly a few similar ones). These updates are typically only tens of megabytes rather than hundreds of megabytes.
If Software Update doesn't offer you any HP drivers then it either thinks you have the latest drivers installed already, or the printer model is not supported by the drivers available from Apple.
This article lists all of the printer models for which Apple distributes the driver:

How can I get the size of a file with apple script
I try to get the size of a file within an apple script. But I did not find information how to do this.
There are two ways. I think Apple is moving toward using System Events, which is listed first.tell application "Finder"
set myFile to selection as alias
--this just gets a file for me to work with
--coercing it into an alias is required for the other functions
end tell
tell application "System Events"
get size of myFile
end tell
set myInfo to (info for myFile)
get size of myInfo -
How to change the size of redo file
Deal all,
I finish installed the db,and the size of redo file is 50m by default. I found many "checkpoint not complete" events in alert.log file.
Now i want to change it to 100M and try to avoid the event appear again ,how can i do?As Sb has already correct reply that size of redo logs can not be changed. We have to create new bigger/smaller size of redo logs and then 'alter system switch logfile' to inactivate older logs. Now you can drop older logs. Redo logs are something a glass of water. We can not change the size of glass, if we wish to dring more/less water, we will take that sized glass and we will get that sized water.
Remember to consider the multiplexing/grouping when doing any maintenance like this. And there may be archive log & backup space considerations.

I have updated my iphone 5 with IOS7. Now there is an update 7.0.2 on my cell and the size of update file is showing around 21.0 MB. I tried to update it ITunes but it seems it is downloading the entire IOS. Is there any separate update for the same or I have to download the entire IOS again?
Well when you download the update with iTunes it will always download the whole new version (in your case 7.0.2) even if its just an bug fix. If you already have 7.0 download the update over-the-air.
You already wrote that the update is only 21 MB, so its not the whole firmware package of 7.0.2 you get with iTunes. -
How can i change the size of PDF files ?
how can i change the size of PDF files? when i convert documents in the acrobat browser it seems the files become larger then normal pdf files, this is, i compare with other files that people send to me and i realise that they are smaller than my converted files, even if they have more pages.
A lot depends on the form of the PDF. Is it graphics, a scan of a text file, pure text, or other? What version of Acrobat are you working with.
You can do a save as to get a WORD file, but do not expect great results. The ability to get a decent WORD file depends on what the form of PDF you are working from. If it was created from WORD with tags and all, you might get good results. If not, you might get a lot of messed up results.
Explain what you are starting with and your ultimate goal. Also check the audit of the file (should be under PDF Optimize) to see where the file information is concentrated (text, fonts, graphics, other). -
How do I know the size of a file
Hi,
Would anybody please show me how to get the size of a file. for example, I create a file like this
FileInputStream FINPUT = new FileInputStream ("c:\\testing.prn");
I need to know the size of FINPUT before using it but I don't know how.
note: It is not neccessary to use FileInputStream. I can use any stream or file that allow me to check the size and read out the data from the file byte by byte.
Thanks a lot.
HungThank you for your responding. But, how can I read out the data? I need to read the data from the file byte by byte.
Thanks

How to find the size of a file or folder
How can I find the size of a file or folder?
I am trying to determine the size of my iPhoto and Mail folder.
It says "Size: --" under general from Get Info.It's working fine...
When you ask for that info, and Finder presents those '--' dashes instead of a value, actually, Finder is calculating the value in background.
That's something that i recently noticed and wonder why tha heck he needs to do all that work by himself, kinda re-inventing the wheel of file size value "calculus"...
I posted some thoughts about it here: File / Folder size... How do Finder gets it?
Will appreciate feedback about this!
Props! -
Does anyone have a simple program that will return the size of a file
Does anyone have a simple program that will return the size of a file?
I quite hate it when I receive the incorrect amount of yoctocandela per metre squared. Swarthy people
can't properly convert poundal feet to barleycorn; throws off the whole conversion! Aaah, you get what
you paid for.I recognize those figures; you've got your outsourced file sizes from Zanzibar; admit it! I always apply
the scientific approach when I've got file sizes back from Zanzibar: I simply divide those numbers by
pi (very scientific) and drop the eleven (ueber scientific, because 11 is prime even when looked upon
as a binary number) least significant bits. And remember: never compare two floating point numbers
for equality. (<--- that's a free tip)

Find out the size of a file?
I need to program a vi, which appends data to a text file.
The text file may not become larger that a defined size, so the vi should check the size of the file first.
How can I do this?

Not sure if this would solve your requirment but just in case might be helpful:
1. We can mix up the HTML and HTMLB components in the JSP Page. However, can access only the HTMLB components in the controller. The following link refers to what customizations are offered by the HTMLB framework:
[http://www.sapdesignguild.org/resources/htmlb_guidance/]
2. Another option would be to use AbstractPortalComponents or a simple web app if that's feasible. (where custom UI themes, css and layout are more in control of the developers.)

How to find out the size of a file?
Hi,
I would like to determine the size of a file from my code. How is that possible? I do not find any appropriate method in the java.io.File class.
Any help would be very appreciated!java.io.File.length()
Returns the size of the file as a long. The number corresponds to the number of bytes in the file. -
Maximum size of a file that the getResourceAsStream() can read?
hi guys.before i post this new topic, i have search through the forum,and google. on the web .so reply are appreciated.
1) getResourceAsStream() method, is there a way to know the maximum size of a file that the getResourceAsStream() can read?
InputStream is = getClass().getResourceAsStream("Dream2.gif");
byte[] byte0 = new byte[10 * 1024];
bcos the size of my bytearray is hardcoded, if any thing is greater than that size ,my program would crash.so i would like to know if there is a way to do that
2)if that is not available, are there any methods in j2me using any connection (http or socket),that can know the maximum size of the file that are available??????You won't be able to tell how big the resource is using this approach. However, since your resource is in the JAR you will be able to know the size of it before hand.
Otherwise, use the read(byte[], int, int) method to read the resource in chunks like this:
int count = 0;
byte[] bytes = new byte[1024];
while ((count = read(bytes, count, 1024)) != -1) {
// do something like write to a ByteArrayOutputStream
}Although redundant, using this approach you can see that you can keep a count of the number of bytes you've read and thus know the total size of the resource. -
