Gift Audiobook Media Files Missing after iPhone sync

Hi All
I recently received an Audiobook as a gift, I happily redeemed this into my iTunes 11 and synced it onto my iPhone. So far so good.
However when I returned to iTunes, the audiobook appears to exist but if I try to play it, iTunes it says it cannot find the media files and invites me to locate them myself. I cannot find them either. However the book is still there on my iPhone. The purchase shows as a gift in my account but being an Audiobook I can't re-download. All this took place before the next TimeMachine cycle so there is no backup except on the phone.
Any ideas how I recover from this error condition?

I'm now having the same issue here. It seems for me it has something to do with importing the files from a Home Sharing Library. But after syncing, the files are gone.

If your media is in iTunes restore the iPod, but the iPod is/was the only location currently hosting some of your media then the first task is to try to extract it. See the user tip Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for some recovery tools. Most third party tools will probably require the device to have a functioning library however the techniques outlined in the iLounge Article referenced at the end should work as long as the device still shows up in Windows Explorer or Finder.

From your post I understand you're wanting to move iMovie project and event data to another drive. I found the following information in the iMovie help that answers your question.
Copy or move projects, events, or clips between libraries or storage devices
Connect a storage device that contains the target library to your Mac, or copy the target library to your Mac.
Choose File > Open Library, and choose an option from the submenu.You can choose from recently opened libraries, locate an existing library on your Mac, or create a new library.The selected library is opened in the Libraries list, with the first event selected and its contents displayed in the browser.
In the Libraries list, select the event that contains the item you want to move or copy.
In the browser, select the item you want to move or copy.Tip: To select multiple clips or projects in the same library, hold down the Command key as you click the items you want to select, or drag a selection rectangle around the items.
Do one of the following:
To move items between events or libraries: Drag the clip or project to another event or library.
To copy items between events or libraries: Option-drag the clip or project to another event or library by first starting to drag and then holding down the Option key as you drag.

Media files hidden after update 10.6.8 to Mavericks.

I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on an iMac 21.5" from 2010: 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB DDR3, 500GB.
My problem came about when I updated from 10.6.8 to Mavericks. I downloaded Mavericks from the app store. When I tried to install it, it wouldn't let me because it said my internal HD was being used for Time Machine (even though I had Time Machine switched off). So I plugged in my WD USB 3.0 external drive and installed it with that. After the update, it had me create a new default user account, which I did. But now all my media files are hidden and I can't open my media folders on my Macintosh HD. I used Disk Utility to verify and repair disk on my WD external and on the iMac's HD.
Question is, where did all my files go? I believe they're still on my HD, I just can't access them? I was under the impression that after updating to Mavericks that I could just use my old login and all my files would be there, but they aren't. I'm seeing some symbols on my folders, which I can change to have permission to open them, but the files still aren't there.
I also tried the dummy account trick, but to no avail. I could have made a mistake in trying that one though.
Any help for me to see my hidden media files would be helpful. Thanks!

Solved problem by finding a folder in CS5 Photoshop set up files.. under the folder payloads.. and installing setup file for Adobe Help from there.. also installed updates from Adobes website for Media Player and Air...

HT4477 One complete family file missing after installing iPhoto 11 ??

One complete family file of photo's is missing after installing iPhoto 11. Installation went smoothly, and all other files complete. Have checked thru entire photo lists, including photo list at the top. Found two photo's in that should have been in that photo list that were downloaded 2 months prior to installing iPhoto 11. I keep files of each family branch on left side iPhoto window. Only the one file is missing. ????

I meant folder. Have 6 kids, and to keep track of each family quickly, I set up folders on left side of iPhoto. All others are there.

Itunes file deleted now iphone sync not possible

possibly some tmp fille, accoding to some information I gathered on the web.
I did an disk utility repair permssion run through w no success.
Also itunes updates are not possible anymore
the Iphone sync goes will till step 6 then I get the error message.
Im not computer savy, should I erase Itunes (if that is possible) and dowload it again?

Music files missing after sync with iTunes

All of my devices are updated to the last version.
I created playlists to manage syncing music from iTunes to iPhone.
Sometimes my music files would be missing on my iPhone 6 running iOS 8.1 after sync with iTunes 12.0.1.26.
When music missing, they look OK in iOS playlists, but will appear a "waiting for copy” symbol on the right side then jump to next song one by one when I try to play.
It's really weird because it happens randomly, I totally have no idea when it will happen again, more even far from why ...

It sometimes takes awhile for the info to download from itunes.
try this:
Reboot the device by pressing and holding down the home and sleep/wake buttons (power) at the same time until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings

Original file missing after sync-ing folder with PS edit versions

Here's an oddly specific and challenging problem for you, I bet you can't figure it out (I'm trying to pluck your competitive strings).
I just noticed that some of my photos are missing from the library in lightroom, specifically the original versions of photos that have virtual copies edited in photoshop in folders that have since been synchronized. Weird, and very anoying. The files are still there (in wondows explorer) but when I try to re-import them lightroom doesn't see them, only the PS edited copies (.tif files). I told lightroom to allow duplicates and it sees all the photos in the folder except those missing ones. This does not happen to my PS edited virtual copies in folders that have not been synchronized. It is not a matter of stacking, or at least Lightroom does not think the PS copies are stacked at all so I can't unstack them. This is really annoying and I'm hoping someone can help me get them back into lightroom (preferably with the accompanying development settings) and also how to avoid this problem in the future. If you need any further details or screenshots let me know
PS: I import files from my camcorder using a different program because lightroom does not acknowledge that particular video file format. That's why I have to synchronize some folders and not others.

The first group are from one of the synchronized folders so only the PS copy shows up in lightroom. The second group are from a folder than hasn't been synchronized so the PS and original files both show up in lightroom.

After syncing music has completed my iphone has one less item (song) that what is in my iTunes library. Does anyone know why this is, or are the playlists counted as a file that doesn't actually transfer to the iphone?

After the software updated, the media control was missing. I already searched the internet and did everything that was stated there but the volume and media controls are still missing. Only the ring tone is working.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds to me that you may be referring to the Control Center. The controls did change from iOS 6 to iOS 7. The Control Center is now accessed by swiping up from the bottom of the screen. You can use the following article for reference.

"Other files" growing after failed sync

Hi!
I got an iPhone 4 32 GB and before iOS 5 my "Other" category was always somewhere
between .4 and .7 GB and my free space was below 4GB.
After installing iOS5 on it that values didn't change much.
However when I tried my first iCloud Backup, I had to cancel it because
it would have taken > 8 hours.
That's probably when my "Other" category went to 1.5 GB.
I tried every suggestion that I found:
- turn off and on
- restore from backup
- setup as new iPhone and restore from backup
- stop syncing music and video, add one more music and start syncing again
which will replace all the music.
- reduce the iCloud backup below 600 MB and let the backup complete
Nothing did show any drastic improvement.
I still have an old ipod touch 1GB which I sync sometimes.
This got really no Other files at all.
Today I tried to add another game for my son to it.
It started syncing and suddenly "Other" grew to about the amount the
new game would have taken.
The new game wasn't compatible with a 1G so it didn't show up
on the touch at the end of the sync but the Other space remained occupied.
That's why I think that unsuccessful sync's will end up in Other
and stay there forever.
I tried to look for anything obviuos with iPhone explorer but
since it is not JBen I'll be out of look to find the garbage.
I'd appreciate any help I could get except:
- setup as new iphone and DON'T restore a backup.

If all your music is in iTunes, you could try restoring your iPod, this will erase the hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings: Restoring iPod to Factory Settings
Alternatively if your iPod is set to update automatically then try this:
1. Connect your iPod
2. Disable "Show Album art" in iTunes>Edit>Preferences>iPod.
3. Syncronise the iPod with iTunes. (Disconnecting and then reconnecting your iPod will do the trick)
4. Re-enable "Show Album Art" in iTunes>Edit>Preferences>iPod.
5. Syncronise the iPod again.

ITunes 10.2.1 hangs several minutes after iPhone sync

Recently updated the old 2006 iMac Core 2 Duo to 10.6.7 and iTunes 10.2.1. All works well but iTunes now goes into the spinning beachball of death (SBOD) shortly AFTER syncing my iPhone 3GS.
It doesn't happen right away. For a few moments after sync, everything works fine. Then I'll click on some element (say, Music or Podcasts or a playlist, etc.) and the SBOD appears. It just stays forever until I force quit iTunes, which then results in an annoying restart that requires iTunes to check my very large library for 15 minutes. Ugh.
Console reports a crash due to "low memory" related to the iPhone, but I cannot figure that out - there is no shortage of RAM or disk space, so it's something else.
Other parameters: Home Sharing is ON, and connects to 2 Airport Expresses and an Apple TV. Library is fairly large, 28,000 tracks of music, 226 movies and a bunch of TV shows. Never been a problem.

well i'm running iTunes same vsn on a brand new iMac i7 2.93GHz and i'm constantly having to wait while the old beach ball of death appears. it usually only halts normal operation for 15 to 40secs but thats ridiculous enough. i've got 16Gb of DRAM and even with no other apps running this happens - and it happens about every 3 mins or so. crazy.
9037 songs in the library.
i guess this is better than iPhoto 9 which crashed and refuses to boot full stop, in spite of several re-instals.
and i thought the new world of apple was gonna be rosy. hmmmm.

Cisco WRVS4400n V2.0 & iPhone 4: no internet access after iPhone sync

i know it seems strange but it might be that this problem regards to the router.
Each time I sync my iPhone with iTunes, unplug it afterwards it looses WLAN connection to the WRVS4400n i such a way that the WLAN icon is still shown but there is no response from the internet.
It just helps to disable MAC filtering on both WLAN and firewall for a second, and then re-activating it. After this the iPhone is able to re-connect to the internet.
Has anyone an idea what this behaviour may have caused.
P.S. I also encrypt the WLAN with a 63 digit wide ASCII key.

thanks for your hint - I have now switched to static IP and it seems that it works now. I have tested synchronization twice. However, I will try tomorrow when I get back from work again, and I will give fb in any case here.
