Global color adjustment for an icon illustration?

I've built an icon, using many component parts each with a different stroke and fill characteristics.
I now want to change the overall color of the icon, without having to go in adjust each component part that makes up the icon. (In PS, for example. you can create an adjustment layer that will allow you to tweak the overall color of the layer below).
Please advise.

Well might it be possible to have a panel access the fill and stroke commands and which may have been omitted as a dialogue does not access that tool?
Are you sure you are thinking of all the workflows that maybe around. Have you ever worked in an interior design firm, a large advertising agency, a corporate art department, a greeting card company's art department, a furniture company or for half the number of other types of large users of Illustrator? Perhaps you would be a little surprised at how much color does play a roll in the creation and production of anything you can do in Illustrator and times that by ten or twenty contributors on one project and changing color can be a night mare and it is done on moment notice. Ever work for a textile design studio, heaven help you if you have.
many clients and art directors and designers are color obsessed. And once they all settle on the colors, get it even slightly wrong and see what happens.
It is possible for many people that this has to be a panel and if you have read the forums and followed the threads in which people have been made aware of this feature they all wonder why one it is buried in the Edit Menu and why it is not somewhere that is more accessible.
I respect your knowledge of Illustrator a great deal but this I think is not a well thought out conclusion on your part.
Have a great day!

  • Is it possible to do a GLOBAL color change for both text and graphics in ACrobat XI?

I used to do this using the Pitstop Pro plugin but now Pitstop is almost $900 and this is the only thing that I would use it for, not worth the investment
I can change text color by selecting individual text items, but I want to change all of the red text into white text
I also need to change all of the red graphics into white graphics and I can't figure out how to do that either
I have a trial version of XI on a Mac and will buy it if it can do what I am trying to do, i.e. global color changes to both text and graphics
    thanks!!

I have version 6, but it is way out of date, doesn't work on my current system, I downloaded a trial version of the new one, version 12 I think, now I have to decide if I can afford to buy it, it is not cheap!
oops, sorry, I didn't read your entire message, aargh!
I'll check with them if I can upgrade from this early version, thanks for the suggestion!

  • How to create seperate color channel for print of illustrator document

    Hi,
I need to print a document with partial UV-spots, and cannot figure out how to make my Illustrator document ready for print!
The online print center guides me to:
create a 'seperate print channel' for the specific elements in my document i want covered, with either a '5th color or a special color' set for 'over-print and 100% color'.
    Can anyone help?
    Thank you!

Draw the spots you want to use and fill them with a spot color.

  • Color Labels for the Icons on Desktop

Since I have upgraded to 10.6 the options when you -control--click- on an icon on the desktop are not "clickable". The color Labels are there- visible- but not able to be chosen.
    Can you help?

The system "owns" the default applications in Mac OS X 10.6, so you cannot modify them (this includes adding labels to them).
It looks like you've moved the actual applications to your desktop. You should move those applications back to where they belong in the /Applications/ folder.
After you move them back, choose File > "Make Alias" for each application. Finally, move the aliases to your desktop (aliases have small arrow icons in the lower-left corner) and assign color labels to them as desired.

  • Vignetting added and color adjusted immediately post import into Lightroom5.

Vignetting added and color adjusted immediately post import into lightroom5.
My photos from my most recent trip, when imported into Lightroom, have a heavy vignette very close to all 4 corners of the photo, and seem to have some small adjustments being done to them immediately when I import. The thumbnail looks great, and when i import --> then select it to open it as if I was going to view it full size in Lightroom, it looks great [no vignetting or tone/color adjustment] for about 1-2 seconds while a 'loading' footer is shown, following which the color is slightly altered and the vignetting is added (at this point then the thumbnail changes as well). This is a significant and noticable change to the photo. The pictures also do not have these issues if I view them through any other software. I have Can any one help me figure out what is causing this and remove it?
    I shoot
    with a Sony Alpha6000
    shoot in RAW (.ARW)
use the standard sony kit lens that comes with the camera bundle, lens SELP1650 (3.5-5.6/16mm-50mm)
    edit on Windows 7 64bit with Lightroom5
and don't believe I've adjusted any camera settings since last taking pictures 1 week ago with the exact same lens. I looked at photos from my last trip (only one week ago), and none of them are having these or an alterations/changes upon import.
I took over 300 photos last weekend wthout any sign of these issues post import
Every single photo I took this weekend seems to have this same issue.
    Any help is appreciated!

  • How do I change the "gray" color selection for icons in Finder to brown?

Is there a way to change the selection of colors offered by the dropdown File menu for desktop and folder icons? I use a lot of color coding for the files and folders in my windows, and gray just looks like "dimmed out" to me.
I know how to get the color wheel in Microsoft Word (or the crayolas, or whatever).  Is there a way to do that for Finder as well, without a lot of technical talk (ranges, percentages, etc.) that I can't understand?  Thanks for any help out there!

Grey is not the only color showing up.
If you want more colors other than the ones found in Finder, you will need to use a 3rd party product.  Something like CandyBar will do the trick or download colorful folders and icons.  These softwares can be found on MacUpdate and by doing a Google search.

  • Global color values differ between palettes and when converted (Adobe Illustrator)

I have a swatch file with a bunch of global colors inside. When converting the global color to editable RBG in the Color palette, the values are correct. However, if I use the Eyedropper and sample the color, then double-click the boxes in the Tool Palette or Color Palette, the values are completely different. When the colors don't have the 'global' setting checked this doesn't happen. Does anyone know why?
A lot of people are going to use this swatch file, and likely will use Eyedropper to select like colors, and with some peoples' workflow it's likely these incorrect values will creep in.

     ... my eps logo ..
Why are you using EPS? It is kind of outdated format these days.
EPS  does not support color profiles. The default Save as EPS options in Illustrator include CMYK conversion which changes the values. To avoid this uncheck "Include CMYK Post Script" in the save options. Then when you open the file in Photoshop the RGB  values will be the same and if you want it displayed the same, in Photoshop choose Edit > Assign Profile and choose the same profile - Adobe RGB in your case. The color settings in Photoshop will have no effect and can remain unchanged.
If you do that using the same computer the colors will be identical in values and appearance. If you do it on different computers the values will be the same and the color appearance will depend on if both computers have been calibrated to display colors accurately.

You need to ask the printing service provider. Dealing with color totally depends on the printing process involved and of course the machines used.

  • Global Colors issue, in Adobe Illustrator CS 3/4

We have this issue where I work of colors remaining in swatches even when deleted, which for some reason creates huge files when saved, 1 gig + at times.
The colors that remain in the swatch are all titled "Global Color", it is possible to select and delete them all, but it is just an illusion, as soon as you copy and paste anything from the document all the Global Colors return.
I have browsed the web and seen no solution to the problem. I have many files infected with these colors and can upload a file somewhere for any one to investigate.
    Thanks.

Same problem here. Any copying and pasting between documents spreads this. Here is what I have tried so far that has not worked
Recovered the file using 'Content Recovery Mode = 1". Edited this in simpletext to remove all code that has "Deleted global colors" & the "Begin PluginObject: Object". There was lots of junk to remove and I got everything in between the open & close tags.
    Saved files as AI3
Copied & Pasted all elements into a new document
Removed all unused Brushes, Swatches, Graphic Styles
Removed all layers & did a save as, the file is still 6mb with nothing in it.
In my situation, 1000s of brushes reappear in the library(see images below) after any copy/pasting. I also had "deleted global colors"(see images below) reappearing but that has gone away since I cleaned up the code. The problem must lie in in the non-standard characters. I also am getting the HUH error(see images below) when saving. I stopped getting the swatch conflict error(see images below) after pasting, after I cleaned up the code. The file though is still huge, slow and any copying is really slow. Can't load CS5 trial here at work(to try out that new cleanup command), but am on CS4 Mac.

  • Choose accent color for hovered icons when using dark interface in Bridge?

How about add the ability to choose the accent color for hovered icons when using a dark interface in Bridge?  Currently, the icon color remains orange and unchangeable.  Personally, I would prefer a blue accent color to match my system.  Any chance of making this possible in CS6?

Oh, I should add that I'm looking for solutions somewhat up-to-date and/or are related to or designed for 10.6 Snow Leonard. I did a search for answers before asking the question, and the (mostly unsatisfactory) answers I found were all from several years ago and applied to earlier versions of OSX (10.3, 10.4, etc.), and therefore no longer were relevant or usable.

  • CHANGE COLOR ON POP UPS FOR TASKBAR ICONS

During setup the system asks you to select colors for the theme (I thought).  Apparently it was for the background color of the pinned icons on the taskbar. i.e. if i right click on chrome i get a list of sites I visited, the problem is the background is dark blue and the words are black making it nearly impossible to see the words.  How do I change the background color to something lighter so i can see it?
