Global Fax Software

Global Fax (Global Village) product
I currently can't fax from my imac g5, everything is wireless... When I bought the machine they d=said there was noy way to fax via wireless hub internet connection...? I have global fax on my old machine and love it! Wish they had a version I could use on my current setup?
Am looking for a fax software program similar to above that I can fax a appleworks or MSW document from my desktop as was the case in Global Fax application. I am on dial-up, our area may be getting dsl soon(yeah!!) but need it to work via dial-up thru my wireless modem on my Airport Extreme basestation....

Apple pays little attention to these user-to-user forums--probably least of all to what is said here in a forum devoted to the long-retired System 7, OS8, OS9, and their equally out-to-pasture applications. You can, however, send feedback directly to Apple via this portal: https://www.apple.com/feedback/.
I'm not sure what you would want OSX 10.* to do. Think about it. You no longer have a functioning version of the program available to the OS. Consequently, the OS can't pair the GlobalFax files with the application that produced them or with any comparable application. Byte for byte, the GF fax files are the same as they always were, but when a suitable program can't be found to read them, the OS reports them as "unix executable" as a Kind of last resort. Perhaps "none" would be better? I don't know.
But glancing through an online GlobalFax manual (p. 60)-- http://modems.globalvillage.com/support/pdfs/GlobalFax_Users_Guide.pdf --I note that faxes saved through GF could be of only a few types: GlobalFax 2.5/2.6 (a proprietary format? likely some flavor of TIFF?), MacPaint, PICT, PICT2, or TIFF. Two quick tests. First, add .tiff or .pict or .pct to a GF fax filename. Then try to
(1) open in Preview, or
(2) open a new TextEdit document, set it to rich text mode (if it isn't already), then drag/drop the GF fax file directly into the blank TextEdit document.
Might work. But my recommendation for File Juicer stands. It's a handy tool to have on hand if you often deal with old files from vintage applications.

  • SAP certified Fax Software Solutions

    Hello,
We are requested to configure SAP for faxing purchase orders directly to the vendor.
The challenge is to do this without the purchase of any SAP Faxing Software.
Has anyone configured SAP faxing without the use of a SAP Faxing Software package?  I.e. using only a server installed with the MS fax services and nothing more?  If so, was it successful or not?
My fear is that without a Faxing Software, it will be a very manual operation, i.e. error handling and monitoring, etc., which can contribute to high administrative overhead as well as increase of failed faxes.
If it is not logical to do this without a Faxing Software, can anyone recommend the names of the products they are using?  I know of RightFax, but besides that, are there others that come highly recommended?
Forgot to mention:  we are running ERP (ECC 5.0) and SRM (SRM 4.0)
    Thanks!

This sounds like flying without a plane...
Never tried MS fax services... but basically you need a FAX software that can handle SMTP. To be fairly honest I always worked with Rightfax and its really good but I'm sure theres lots of other FAX softwares certified by SAP that are as easy to use...
Read SAP Note 455140 - Configuration of e-mail, fax, paging or SMS using SMTP

  • Does Tiger need Fax software to send and receive faxes?

I need an inexpensive way to receive faxes. I will be buying a usb modem, likely the Apple modem. Do I need to also purchase fax software or does Tiger make it possible to send and receive faxes?

I found out from another query that yes I can send and receive faxes by going to the Print/Fax icon in System Preferences.

  • Mac mini fax software

I have a Macmini3,1 and want to know if it already has a fax software. I just purchased a StarTech exernal modem that plugs into the USB port. They claim that I don't need any drivers to fax although I noticed that a CD came with the modem but it is only for installing Windows... They claim on their website and on the flyer that came with the modem that the fax modem is MAC OS 10 compatible. I have 10.5.8.
Do I need to purchase separate software? I do have the option to fax in my printer dialoge box, seems like it would work through bluetooth. I use comcast as my provider with a modem and router connected to my phone lines.
Please inform me how I need to make this work!

The drivers should already be in 10.5.8.
    With your modem connected:
Sys Prefs: Print & Fax: "+" to add a device: Fax tab - your modem should show... select it, "Add" etc...
...then you should be able to "print" to it from any application...

  • Fax Software not Receiving

Tiger won't receive faxes. Just never picks up the phone. It's a mac mini with apple usb modem. It's set up correctly, deleted and readded fax spool, repaired permissions, went and set up the lock folder that wasn't there per Panter fax fix. Nothing. Anything to do besides try a new modem?

I`ve also no solution. Modem rings...no connect attempt follows. If I try to manually receive fax, there are some timeouts. It`s not a problem since 10.4.6, it`s a generally Tiger-problem. Sometimes you get a fax using other Software, sometimes not (modem is used-message). Here`s a typical try to receive a fax:

  • Fax software to macmini

    Hello,
With Macmini and OS X.3.9, I do not manage to send a fax.
This situation started with OS X 3.7. When I try to fax, I see arriving 2 windows at the same time :
    - the first : Treatment of page 1
    - the second : Error at the time of the impression
The internal modem is OK because it functions for the Minitel with ALISTEL.
Can I RE-download the software of the fax and where can I find it ?
    Thank you for your orientations.
I am in the Paris area.
    minireilo

    Well,
Although I don't fax much, I believe there is no dedicated fax program to download or load off any of the latest OSX discs. In the past I did some faxing to help sell a house for a family member from afar, but that was with some FAXstf X software that came with OS X.2, I think.
Now, incoming fax settings are made through the Print/Fax of an OS Preference Pane. And outgoing faxes are done through the Print Dialog of virtually every OSX program that I can think of, like: Preview, AppleWorks, Photoshop, etc. It all seems pretty straightforward. I'd just double check all the pull-downs, making such you're set to Modem, rather than Bluetooth, etc. And if you are online with a dial-up connection while trying to fax, I'm pretty sure that would cause a failure.
Please let us all hear how this turns out, because I honestly haven't faxed anything via these newer methods yet, myself.
    Peace to you,
    C. Livingstone

  • Fax Software?

Can anyone recommend a program that will allow me to receive fax on my Macbook?
I am connected to the internet wirelessly (Don't know if that matters.)
    Appreciate it thanks!

One more thing: Can I use my blue tooth connection (T mobile) w. my Blackberry Pearl in some way to send fax w, my macbook.
I am also trying to use a bluetooth connection (to Nokia N95)to send a fax from my macbook.
Thanks to http://thenokiablog.com/2007/08/21/how-to-tether-your-nokia-to-a-mac-to-access-t he-net-via-bluetooth/ I have managed to connect to the internet through the N95.
Then from System Preferences I select 'Print and fax'
and then click "+" to add another to the list, and click on the fax tab and select 'Bluetooth' and it is added to the printer list.
Then in MSWord, I click on Print, and bluetooth shows up on the list of printers.
I select it and enter the fax number and click fax.
My phone bleeps and asks me to accept connection from the macbook. I accept, but the connection lasts for less than a second, and in the 'bluetooth' fax window (which appears in the dock), it says the fax is on 'hold', and if you try to resume, it just says it is preparing the document, and nothing else happens.
Anyone have a clue how to resolve this?

  • Do I need to buy Fax machine or some Fax software?

I have a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.6 installed. Our home phone(local phone service) removed and only DSL line with Qwest. Two iPhones with AT&T service. And have a printer of Epson Artisan 700 (Fax function is not included).
Do you have some recommendation what would be good choice for fax receiving & sending?
    Thanks in advance for help!

    Blue Sky,
There is a post located at http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=12003256 that should help you out. There does seem to be an app for the iPhone called finarxfax that is available for download that you can use to send a fax. Otherwise there are quite a few online services that will send a fax for you, like eFax.com. Let me know how it goes for you.

  • OS  10.3.9  won't fax

About 8 hours, now, trying to send a fax using 0S 10.3.9 or Faxstf X. Apparently, the bundled Faxstf version does not work (Smith Micro has promised to send a download link for v. 10.5.3 but I have not rec'd it) and also conflicts with Panther. Either Panther does not work, either, or one must remove Fax stf (no instructions on how, no installer disks with me) before Panter will work. I have tried sending via Epson Scan "Copy to Fax" (which worked beautifully on OS9,2,1 with Global Fax software) and also scanning, saving, then faxing from the document. Others have described the same phenom.: Appears to read the fax to somewhere, places title in the jobs window with a "hold" designation and an expiration time of around 3 minutes or so, and just sits. Once, a message flashed by about a software error. Epson drivers were just updated. I tried disabling the receive fax function in the Print/Fax prefs (per Smith Micro) and using Faxstf to no avail. the apple internal modem is selected. The same phone line is functioning fine as I write for Internet access. Help. I need to get info to people who do not use email! Thank you.

    Hi MadAl!
Your computer specs say G4 tower Mac OS 9.2.x.
Is this the Mac and system you are referring to?
Have you upgraded the OS, or made any other changes?
What has transpired between the last time it started normally and now?
Any unusual occurances, like crashes, freezes, error messages, etc?
    Please provide some additional details.

  • Tiger Faxing abilities

Fax STF Pro X 10.6.1 seems to lack a decent capability to fax photos in grayscale. Yes it has the option, but the images do not come out very clear.
Back in the 1990's when I was on system 7 and was using Global Village Fax Center, I used that app to fax photos ALL THE TIME and the photos always came out crystal clear, even in grayscale.
I am aware that Tiger has the ability to Fax, but do not know if photos can be faxed in grayscale, and if they come out clear. As I said the system 7.1 app called Global Village fax center did an excellent job of sending photos in grayscale, and they came out clear on the other end as well, and the last time I recall testing this was back in 1995!
Its amazing that fax software for the Mac has no improved since then, but rather gotten worse. Perhaps most people who own macs have no need to send faxes, and if they do, they use one of the many Internet faxing services (that cost a good buck).
However my need to fax photos is niche, and its not something I normally do, but need to do in this instance.
For example imagine that someone has a job that is 9am - 6pm, and imagine that he or she needs a quote on some auto body repairs, and none of the body shops have or use E-mail. Instead of taking the day of to get this work done it would be best to fax photos.
Yes I could take some pictures, get them printed at Walmart and go to Kinkos and send the fax, but I figured it would be easier if I used my Mac.
    Thanks for the help,.
