Gmail Push (exchange) as Default Account not possible?

I initially set up my gmail account as regular on my new iPhone 4 but noticed that it took forever to get messages (15 minute fetch is not fast enough for me).
Tried setting up Gmail as an exchange account instead, but I can't select any of my exchange accounts as my default account. Any way to change this!? I'm not interested in my yahoo account being the default on my phone

Well it actually seems that push isn't working at all.....hmmm
Any ideas?

Is this a feature difference between the iPhone and iPod touch, or is this a feature difference between iOS 4, and 3.1.3?

Sorry mod i didn't mean I worked for ABC i just used the first 3 letters of the alphabet. But if someone can help us out please.

  • Gmail push and twitter/facebook notifications not working since ios 5

I have not been getting any push email notifications, the device does not seem to be receiving any mail unless I fetch it manually or wait for the 15 min fetch schedual. Also, I am not getting any of the integrated twitter notifications. Any possible fix?

  • Exchange rate over ride not possible

    Hello
we have for a certain date the exchange rate defined in TCURR as GBP->USD @ .50448 for usage type "M".
But for few entries we want the exchange rate to be a different value. When we enter the document via FBV1 - we put the amount as 200 GBP (company code currency) and the exchange rate as 1.620 and save the document.
But when we look at the document the amount in group currency (USD) is being calculated at the older exchange rate from TCURR table and not from the one we entered on the screen.
    Thanks.

  • FAGL_FC_TRANS posting to valuated account not possible?

The foreign currency translation program seems to only allow posting to a adjustment account and a gain/loss account. We can try to design different accounts for each financial statement item, but what we really want to do is to post the difference back to the valuated account themselves. Is there a way to do that? Thanks.

    Let me try.
    Example:
    180000 current asset account ABC
    Before translation:
    Local currency balance: 10,000 GBP
    Group currency balance: 15,000 USD
    After translation:
    Local currency balance: 10,000 GBP
    Group currency balance: 16,000 USD
But the $1000 USD diffence is posted to a gain/loss account say "199999". What we want is to post the $1000 difference back to 180000 account. Is this possible?

  • Gmail push notifications very erratic on iPhone and iPad

    iPhone 4S
    iOS 6.1.2
    iPad 2
    iOS 6.1.2
The push notifications on my iPhone and iPad have become very erratic but ONLY for my gmail account.  My work exchange account is working fine, in fact flawless.
Symptons:  I will receive an email that I can clearly see on gmail.com, but will wait for my iPhone and iPad to notify me and nothing.  I'l wait several minutes and still nothing.  I wake my iphone and check mail and have to manually pull down to refresh my email.  It's not all the time though, it's very sporadic.  For instance, if I wait long enough they will eventually show on my lock screen, but it can be several minutes to a half hour or more.
I only noticed this the past few days and I'm almost positive that I just upgraded both my iPad and iPhone to 6.1.2 just last week.  I am not sure if I can sum this up to "happening right after the upgrade to 6.1.2" or not.  However, it does seem to be a strong coincidence that I just upgraded and now I'm having the problem.
I have both my iPhone and iPad notifications set up the same way for both my email accounts and both have always worked fine and both have become erratic within the last few days.  I have not changed any settings.  I notice this both when I'm on cellular and when I'm home on my wifi network.
Is this something others are experiencing?  Strange that it's both my iPhone and iPad and no settings have changed.
Thanks all for any help you can offer.

I'm not sure if any of you use the gmail exchange support which WAS the only way you could sync email and calendar events and get push notifications for years.  Well it's going away, actually it's gone for new sync users.  For instance, you can not set up a new phone the way I have my phone set up if you are setting up a new sync account.  However, google's article...
    http://support.google.com/a/bin/answer.py?hl=en-uk&hlrm=en&answer=2716936
...clearly states that if you were an existing sync customer, you should have no problems.  Well, I guess they are sort of trying to "push" people to the new CardDAV.  I guess I'll bite and try it out tonight.  I am a very old google sync user (iphone 3G, 4 and 4S) and have not changed anything, so from this article I should be fine.  Well, I'm not.
I'll definitely try the "new" way and let you all know tonight (or tomorrow morning) how it's going.
    Thanks again for the replies.
Support for exchange active sync was dropped by Google for free accounts on Jan 30 of 2013. Apple was prepared for that since November of last year, you can check date on that article.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4872?viewlocale=en_US
Since Gmail still using Card Dav protocol, it allows new devices to sync Contacts. Google mail account takes care of emails and calendars sync by itself. It does have to do with push (you dead on), cause exchange supports push on whole other level, but it has nothing to do with your case. The information that I gave in my first post still stands. It looks like you think you know more then all people that responded to you, but (sorry, still feeling entitled to my humble opinion) you will see your push fixed by itself. Even funnier if you will make some change and it will coincide with google server back online. You will come here and provide us with your "fix".
Perhaps it will be something like "I just changed show emails from 100 to 200."
    @applenascent.
The way it works is simple. We do not realize, but google server actually knows what device is connecting to their server to pick mail. I had to replace my wife's ipad on Feb 7. Even when I restored from the icloud back up that for all intents and purposes made that ipad very similar - the account was still there, but simple gmail without exchange. Deleting account and re adding as exchange didn't provide solution. It just showed up as gmail. They even changed server name from m.google.com to google.com.
BTW it is quite possible that aTanasi's trick will fix the problem. I had to start running yahoo and gmail apps running on the background. I do not use them, but if there is a problem with account, like security kicks in harder, app is more capable to address that issue and informs me of what is wrong. I still find native mail app more pleasant, but thanks and credit to aTanasi.

  • Is it really not possible to change outgoing name in Gmail when I am using Microsoft Exchange?

I am using Microsoft Exchange for the PUSH notification because Gmail Account only fetches data. I want to use PUSH because I want to receive real time email messages. I also want to add my middle name in the outgoing name.
    Is this not possible?

    Thank you so much!!!
I didin't realize to go to the Account Settings of my Google Account, but what I tried before was to go to the Accounts and Import Settings of Gmail and it didn't helped.
    Anyway, thank you so much!!!

  • Email Push for an email account that is not mobile me

Hi There; I have an iphone 3GS where I use 4 different email accounts and calendars. I use 2 mobileme accounts, I use a gmail account and I use a private server account. I used to have a Blackberry Bold and never had any problem. Everythong works fine except for the private server account. Sometimes I get the email in my iPhone even a day later, sometimes I don't get them. But I always get them in my iMac. Can somebody guide me in how to fix that issue or if there's any push email software that really work for the iPhone...I'm getting emails way tooo late compare to the mobile me ones. By the way, I have it set the same way I have set in my computers, POP. Please help, I really don't want to go back to Blackberry, I like my iPhone sooo much!

Different from the Blackberry's email application, the iPhone's Mail application communicates direct with the incoming mail server for an email account - no different when accessing an email account with an email client on your computer.
RIM provides a dedicated email delivery service for the Blackberry which provides Push access regardless the account type.
With the iPhone's Mail application, the email account provider/email account must support Push access. The following email accounts support Push access for received messages.
    MobileMe.
A Yahoo account created with the Yahoo account preset, which creates the account as an IMAP account with Push access for received messages.
An Exchange account accessed via ActiveSync with the Exchange server for the account.
A POP account does not support Push access when accessed with an email client that communicates direct with the incoming mail server such as with an email client on your computer or with the iPhone's Mail application. The only reason Push access is available with a POP account with the Blackberry's email application is due to RIM's dedicated email delivery service for the Blackberry.
Although it is possible to access a POP account with more than one email client, a POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only. Do you leave the email client used on your computer for accessing the POP account launched and running actively checking the incoming mail serve for new messages while your iPhone is doing the same? If so, this is likely the cause of the problem. Different from an IMAP account, only one email client at a time can access the incoming mail server for a POP account. If two email clients are actively running checking the incoming mail server for new messages and downloading new messages received at the server with a POP account, the 2nd email client will be temporarily locked out by the incoming mail server for the account when another email client is doing the same.

  • Push for both Exchange and MobileMe accounts

I have 2 accounts set up on my iPhone 3G:
    1. MobileMe
    2. Exchange via VPN
Exchange is my main account that is syncing mail/calendar/accounts
MobileMe is syncing only mail and bookmarks
When I got the iPhone i had the impression that push for both accounts worked perfectly.
But yesterday I noticed that mail does not arrive to either of them until I actually open Mail app on the iPhone and it starts checking it manually.
I checked push settings on the iPhone.
Out of 3 options for Push under Advanced Tab in the Push settings for Exchange server I have Push selected.
MobileMe tab in Advanced Tab in Push settings has only Fetch and Manually options (no Push option there). So I have Fetch selected.
    General Push setting is on.
My default account is MobileMe (in Mail settings)
Any ideas why Push is not working? I would think it could be Apple's problem but my Exchange push is not working either.

I have the same set up as you and i am getting both accounts mail almost instantly after i send a test message to each of them...Although i'm not using a VPN -- my Exchange supports direct connection via the ActiveSync connection.
Mobile me was a bit sketchy at times, but over the last few days it's been great -- it good to see Apple worked things out.
As for the Exchange Push mail:
There is a small tweak you may need to do while at work and on an internal wi-fi network to get your Exchange mail faster:
    This worked for me....

  • Default account option is greyed out in Notes app

I'm running the latest version of yosemite.  I have 3 different accounts - an iCloud - a gmail - and an exchange account.  In previous version of OS X - if I recall correctly - I could select the "default account" in the notes app.  However, that option is greyed out now.  This is a problem - because without being able to set the default account - it creates notes under the top listed account in the app - or whichever account is highlighted.
Any idea how to rebuild / fix this issue?  I've tried deleting the file under user/library/container - I've tried deleting and setting up the accounts - I can''t seem to get this option to appear - it is just "greyed" out.
    Thoughts on how to fix?

  • Lost Your Notes or Deleted Notes Default Account?

YOU ACCIDENTALLY DELETED 'APPLE NOTES' DEFAULT MAIL ACCOUNT... OR JUST LOST ALL YOUR NOTES?
Okay so after an hour on apple support chat and getting no where at all... this is what I did:
Firstly... I'm assuming you backed up your iPhone to iTunes... otherwise STOP READING NOW... you're doomed.
Secondly... you need your laptop or desktop and I'm talking about a Mac so if you're on a PC... you might still be doomed?
    Begin...
    >>>DO NOT CONNECT YOUR iPhone<<< Now launch iTunes. Go to MENU - iTunes - Preferences.
Click on Devices. There you will see your latest Device backups. Top of the list will be your most recent backup. This is the one you'll have to back up from... so if there's anything on your phone after this date that you don't want to loose... your doomed.
(But you might not be if you can copy it and email it to yourself).
Now... tick the box 'Prevent iPods blah, blah... from syncing automatically'... DO THIS!!!!
DO THIS BIT NEXT: Get your iPhone. Go to settings - and select Cellular... REMEMBER WHERE THIS IS!
Remember also... how to turn off 'Celular Data' and 'Enable 3G'... practise doing this a couple of times!
Go back to settings, select 'WiFi'... practise turning that off also.
Now then... you can't turn these off now because the RESTORE will turn them back on again! You NEED an internet connection in order to complete the RESTORE FROM BACKUP... so it's no good turning that off either.
Basically... you've got to prevent your iPhone from connecting to the Default Account... where all your Notes were... and are no more! If it does connect it will wipe all the notes you just restored from backup off your phone and... you'll be doomed again.
THIS WORKED IN MY CASE... but my WiFi signal is not brilliant (and it's a pain trying to turn the router off as it's hidden in the wall behind the telly)! If this doesn't work first time, either you're an OAP with the reactions of a snail with arthritis (I told you to practise that bit didn't I!)... or you'll need a trusty assistant standing by the router ready to turn it off when you shout "NOW!"
    Okay here goes...
Step 1) Connect your iPhone to iTunes, wait for it to show up there.
Step 2) Go to the Summary tab - Backups and hit 'Restore Backup'.
Step 3) Keep an eye on your phone... it'll say 'restoring'... wait for it... then you'll get a little pop up thing in iTunes, ignore that... then the phone will reboot.
Step 4) PAY ATTENTION! The apple logo appears... wait for it... progress bar appears... get ready... phone will buzz (if you've got vibration on)... get ready... home screen appears... SHOUT "NOW"!!!
Step 5) QUICKLY!!! Dissconnect your phone from the USB cable or dock... too slow man! Quickly access settings and TURN ALL THOSE THINGS YOU PRACTISED... OFF!!!
DO NOT OPEN NOTES before you do this or... you're doomed again.
Now we're back in the game...
Step 6) Open Notes...  there's all your old notes "I know you"!
Step 7) Open the first note (I hope you don't want them all... cos you'll be here for ages) press the little box with an arrow (or forward icon) select 'copy'.
Step 8) Open Mail...  write a new email... paste your Note there! Keep doing this untill you've got all your Notes pasted there... thensend the email to yourself. JUST DO THAT NOW... before you do anything else!
    Clean up your iPhone...
Step 9) Go to Settings on your iPhone, go to Mail, Contacts, Calenders... select iCloud and turn Notes ON. Yeah get an iCloud account, it's free. Forget gmail.com man!
Step 10) Go Back to Settings, select Notes... make Default Account... iCloud. 'It'll say 'delete all notes?' Well they aren't there anyway fool... so **** yeah!
Step 11) Now you can turn all those WiFi and Cellular things back on again.
    Get on your desktop/laptop...
Step 12) Go to Finder - Apple Logo - System Preferences... hit the iCloud icon. Tick Notes ON.
Step 13) Open Notes, open you're email that you sent yourself... copy and make lots of new Notes!
    Get yer iPhone...
Step 14) ... there's all your Notes synced to your iPhone by those nice people at Apple iCloud!
Then ask yourself this question... why does it have to be this complicated?
Good luck! If not... you're doomed.

    Hello Lone,
If your note is gone from iCloud.com there is only a few ways to possibly recover it.
The first things I would check is a iCloud Backup, a iTunes Backup, or a 3rd party email that may have contained the note. To restore from a iCloud or iTunes backup follow
HT1766. This article explains how to restore a device from either back up.
Note if you have backed up since the note went missing, you will not have the note on the backup. Make sure you do not back up if trying to restore from a back up as this will
back up the content without the note.
To get to the "Set up assistant" on an iOS device, you must go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings. Once the phone restarts, you will be at the "Set up
    Assistant"
Gmail emails are very commmon sources for notes and you may have been adding them to the gmail notes without even knowing it.
    Best Regards,
    Mariya Sharapova

  • IPhone with Gmail over Exchange Doesn't Delete, Possible Workaround?

    Hey guys:
Many of you know about this scenario, but I'll lay it all out here.  I've got a Gmail account as my primary email service.  I've got it setup on my iPhone through Exchange so I get my calendars and my contacts as well.  When you're viewing a message on your phone that you no longer want, if you click delete, it doesn't actuually delete it from your Gmail account or move it to the trash.  It just removes all the labels from the message and the message still hangs out there in the "All Mail" view, just without any labels, and it will NEVER go away.
It's been suggested to "move" the message into the trash instead of deleting the message, but I've tried that and found that the same thing happens.
So what about this as a workaround?
What if I left the Exchange account setup and turned off the "mail" option?  This would still give me calendars and contacts.  Then I could start another account just by clicking "Gmail" in the "Add Account" screen just for mail.  Is this problem still present with a mail account setup that way?  I'm reluctant to mess with my accounts on my phone if it's not going to work....
    Anyone know for sure?
    Thx

Well I just gave in and created another account on the phone for Mail and tested it.  It works......
    So here's what I did:
    * Went to the existing Gmail Account through Exchange.  Turn OFF Mail, leave ON Contacts and Calendars
    * Go to Add Account and Click Gmail.  Add the account and turn OFF all options *except* Mail.  Make sure the "Archive Messages" option is set to OFF.  Also don't forget to set this "new" account as your default Mail account because the phone would have just changed it when you turned off the Exchange mail.
I named the Exchange account "GMail (Extras)" and the regular account "GMail (Mail)".  The only time you'll ever know that they're two seperate accounts is in the account setup screen because neither one shows up in the lists for the options that are turned off, (i.e. Gmail (Mail) won't show in the Calendars screen, etc.)
When I tested this issue by deleting some messages, it seems to work great.  I'd say problem solved, wish I would have thought of this sooner.

  • Apple Mail: Email not sending from default account

Note: Default email send worked fine in Mavericks. The issues seems to be new in Yosemite.
I have 3 emails accounts: Exchange, Gmail, Yahoo. In that order. They are placed in that order in the Accounts section of Apple Mail. They are also placed in that order in the mailbox listing under Inbox in mail.
When creating a new email, the top account, Exchange, is rarely chosen as default. Either Gmail or Yahoo are chosen...and occasionally Exchange. I send 90% of my mail from the Exchange SMTP server; now forced to manually change the outbound Account within the mail message itself almost every time.
Again, this is a brand new issue in Yosemite where it doesn't appear to recognize the default account to send email from in Mail.
    Anybody else seeing this?

Hi Will, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Tough to tell what you've tried, is this one you've tried...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...

Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.
