Go to the source of a TOC entry

I know that I can use the Bookmarks panel to go to the page source of a TOC entry. Is there a way to go to the paragraph source so that the text cursor will go to the exact paragraph that is the source of the TOC entry?

Petteri,
As you suggested, I created a keyboard shortcut for the Hyperlinks:Go To Destination command.
However, my TOC entries are not listed in the Hyperlinks panel; they are listed in the Bookmarks panel. So, I'm not sure how the shortcut will help to go to the destination of a TOC entry, or how the shortcut differs from selecting the same command from the flyout menu of the panel.
Please provide guidance on how to use the method you suggested to find the destination of a TOC entry. Once the TOC destination is found, how can I know which is the exact paragraph -- is there any indication, such as the cursor gets inserted in the paragraph?
TOC entries are disconnected from their sources. They are not hyperlinks. Within InDesign, there's no way to jump from a TOC entry to its source, as there is within FrameMaker
In the Layout > Table Of Contents dialog box, the option Create PDF Bookmarks does exactly that - makes PDF bookmarks.
InDesign TOC entries and index entries require you to check Hyperlinks in the Include section of the PDF Export dialog box, to create them as clickable links in the exported PDF.

  • Go the the source of a TOC entry

InDesign can navigate to the page source of a TOC entry using the Bookmarks panel. But there doesn't seem to be a way to navigate to the exact paragraph source of the TOC entry.
If anyone is aware of a script that would add this capability to InDesign CS4, it would be a wonderful help and time-saver for trouble-shooting the TOC.

  • Is there a way to prevent Robohelp WebHelp from appending characters to the end of the URL address for a TOC Entry?

I am running RoboHelp 10 on Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 64 bit OS.
WebHelp is appending characters to the end of the TOC entry's URL address. The characters "bc-n" where n is a number are being generated for all of the TOC Page Entries when I generate WebHelp output. We are exporting the HTML files for import into an application. The TOC Page Properties Link to: property does not contain the characters in RoboHelp.
We have standardized names defined for our application and the appended characters are not going to work in the application.
    cid:[email protected]
When I use the generated html output in IE10 Version 10.0.9200.16635 Update Versions: 10.0.7 (KB2846071) the characters show up in the URL when I hover the mouse over the TOC entry as shown in the screenshot below.
    cid:[email protected]
The two screenshots show that the Link to property does not have the characters "bc-7" but the URL address does.
Is there a setting or way to configure RoboHelp to prevent Robohelp WebHelp from generating and appending characters to the end of the URL address for TOC Entries?

I have never known Rh add any characters so I think something else is at play here. Please open one of the sample projects and see what happens there. Click Open on the RoboHelp Starter page and then click Samples in the ribbon on the left.

  • Is there a way to remove the .swf extension from the TOC entries in an aggregator project?

I've created a Captivate 5 aggregator project that includes swf outputs which were also published using Captivate 5. The TOC entries in the aggregator project all show the published file name followed by the .swf extension (see attached image). Is there a way to hide the .swf extension in the TOC entries?

Yes, a colleague of mine was able to figure it out. Just double-click the chapter title in the .aggr project. It places it into edit mode and allows you to remove the ".swf" extension as well as make any other changes to the name that you want. It's so easy now that we know how to do it, but it was tricky to figure out since the chapter list does not appear editable at first.

    What instructions?

You don't import photos from the iPhone to your computer using iTunes.
See this -> iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
Note this only applies to photos taken with the iPhone. Any photos you previously added to your iPhone using iTunes should be copied from old computer to new computer.

  • Maybe a bug in the enumerationof the TOC entries?

    Hi,
I would like to have a table of contents (TOC) with enumerated chapters.
First I adapted the chapter styles to use indented lists. This provided me with headings such as:
    1. Chapter
    1.1 SubChapter
    2 Chapter
Then I inserted a TOC. Unfortunately only the heading texts not their numbers were displayed. It looked a little bit like this:
    Chapter
    SubChapter
    Chapter
As a workaround I added indented lists to the TOC style. This nearly worked. My only problem is that Pages always looses the indention parameter. It is first displayed correctly and after selecting something else the indention is reset to 1. This looks like this:
    1. Chapter
    2. SubChapter
    3. Chapter
I have the impression that the indention is not set in the TOC style but in the associated heading style. This would clearly be a bug.
    Any help/idea is greatly appreciated!
    Best regards,
    Torsten

I have the same problem. The only workaround I found: each time before exporting as PDF or printing I would select the TOC entries that need to be indented (starting with the most-indented one) and manually increase the indention by one. Fortunately, Pages automatically selects all TOC entries with the same paragraph style, so it's easy to select all entries that should have the same indention if you use different paragraph styles for the different levels.
I left some feedback at http://www.apple.com/feedback/pages.html.

  • TOC entries: is there a limit to how many links you can have to the same htm in TOC?

TOC entries: is there a limit to how many links you can have to the same htm in TOC? I have an HTM that requires multiple links in the TOC. Now I can't compile a CHM. I have eliminated all other possible problems...

Hmm, that would be a new one on me, but I see new things all the time and try to always keep an open mind.
Okay, so one way past this might be to do the following.
Create a snippet. Copy the content of the desired page and paste into the snippet.
Create 30 different versions of the same topic by simply placing the Snippet into each topic. Then insert the different topics into the TOC.
You should still be able to modify the content of the topic in the single place (the snippet) and by having discrete points from the TOC, there should be no issue and synchronization should work beautifully.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Right align page numbers that are to the left of TOC entries

I posted a similar question about a year ago that I believe Harbs or Peter answered, but darned if I can find the thread. At that time they provided a script that did a GREP search, finding a sentence that starts with a digit and replacing it with a tab. I still have the script, but for some reason it is not working correctly with my new TOC layout. It should insert a tab to the left of the page number (page numbers are to the left of the TOC entries), and force the numbers to right align so that a single digit page number right aligns with the right edge of a double-digit page number.
    Find: ^(\d+)
    Change to: \t$1
What happens in the new TOC is the script finds a digit and inserts a tab to the left of the page number. The page numbers move to the right, but they don't right align. They are further to the right, but they numbers themselves are still left aligned.
I'm mystified as to why the script doesn't work on this new layout. I'm using CS4 now, and it still works on the old layout. There is nothing terribly different about the new layout except that the column is much narrower, and there are several threaded colums in the TOC instead of one long column, and the chapter titles don't have page numbers (but all other entries do have page numbers.)

    Peter,
Thanks for your reply. Between the page number and the entry is an en-space.
    I started with these settings:
I then changed the left aligned tab to a right aligned tab:
    But still no luck.

  • How to handle duplicate Primary Key entries in the Source data

This is my first experience with ODI.
I receive Source data from the customer that includes a one letter designation, ACTION_CODE, in each record of data as to the disposition of the record:
‘R’ represents Re-issue in which case I’m to modify the corresponding Target record based on the Primary Key.
‘N’ represents an Insert in which case I’m to insert a new record into the Target.
‘D’ represents a delete in which case I’m to delete the record with the corresponding Primary Key from the Target.
The Source data comes in an XML file and the Target is an Oracle DB.
I have chosen the IKM Oracle Incremental Update (MERGE) Knowledge Module.
I filter ACTION_CODE to just collect records that are ‘N’ or ‘R’ and I exclude the ACTION_CODE from the mapping but since within the same Source
set there may be an ‘N’ and ‘R’ with the same primary key I receive Primary Key errors.
Should I alter CKM to not check for duplicates in the Source?
    Is there a better way?

    Ganesh,
Identifying Duplicates is a logical activity.  More or less it need Manual intervention to judge both the records means common.  if few unique paramenters like Telephone, Pincode, SSN, passport no etc can be used on filters for searching the records.  Currently there are no automatic method to identify the duplicates.  In MDM 5.5 SP04 which is next release there will be auto de-duplicate facility based on tresholeds and matching criteria that you will setup.
I hope i have answered your query transparently. if you have any queries futher you can reply here.

  • How do I stream purchased movies to my Macbook Pro if I've already downloaded them and moved the source files to an external desktop hard drive and I'm away from home?

I recently added a number of movies to my iTunes library by redeeming digital copeis that came with Blu-rays. Due to limted disc space on my MacBook Pro, and for safe keeping, once I downloaded the movies, I moved the source files to an external desktop hard drive. When I'm home and I'm able to access that external HD via my home network, I'm able to watch the movies without an issue. However, if I'm away from home and I want to watch them, I'm not sure how to do that. I thought I could "stream" purchased movies from within iTunes  - even after downloading them - using "iTunes in the Cloud" but can't figure out how to do that, or it simply isn't possible.
    What are my options?

I understand that I can't play my downloaded movies when my external HDD is not connected becuase iTunes is looking for the downloaded files. This is not the issue. The issue is that because my HDD is not connected (as in when I'm away from home) I'd like to be able to stream the movies via the cloud.
If I hadn't downloaded the movies when I redeemed my codes, would I have been able to keep the movies online via Apple iCloud and watched them anytime by streaming them or must the movies be downloaded in order to be viewed on my MacBook?  I read that Apple allows movies purchased (or redeemed) via iTunes to be stored in the cloud via Apple iCloud so that they can be viewed any time, on any device.  IF this is the case, how does it work? From what I can see, it looks like movies can only be "streamed" from the cloud when useing Apple TV; on my iPhone and MacBook Pro, it looks like they need to be downloaded in order to be viewed.
Can someone clarify this for me?
Also - Michael - when you said that If I've already downloaded the film but I'm away from my external HDD I should "Delete the entry from the iTunes library so iTunes only sees the iTunes in the Cloud version", what exactly would this mean? Would this mean that I could then stream the movie from the cloud or would I have to re-download it to my Mac's internal HDD in order to watch it?
    Many thanks!

Help!  Itunes wouldn't update so I tried to delet and reinstall.  I keep getting a message: The instillation source for this product is not available.  Verify that the source exists and that you can access it.  I also get this message:  The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.  Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes64.msi' in the box below.  Help I have no idea what that means or how to fix it.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page). Here's a screenshot showing the particular links on the page that you should be clicking:
After clicking one of the circled links, you should be taken to another page, and after a few seconds you should see a download dialog appear for the msicuu2.exe file. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like for me in Firefox:
Choose to Save the file. If the dialog box does not appear for you, click the link on the page that says "CLICK HERE IF IT DOES NOT". Here's a screenshot of the page with the relevant link circled:
When the dialog appears, choose to save the file.
    (2) Go to the Downloads area for your Web browser. Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • How do I update linked FM files without losing TOC entries or Map IDs?

    Hi,
I'm using RH 10 with linked FM 11 files to create a WebHelp project and this is what happens when I do an update or force update of a linked file in the RH project:
After the update, the topic that contains updated content gets deleted from project TOC in RH.
After the update, any Map IDs assigned to the topic that contains the updated content are deleted.
Can someone please advise how to update a linked file without losing TOC entries or Map IDs?
    Thanks a bunch!
    Gabe

    HI Gabe,
You will want to link the TOC from FM in your conversion settings, and set the map id's via TopicAlias markers in FM.

  • How to Identify the Source System in a Transformation Rule?

    Hi,
In a 3.x system if I needed to identify the source system, the interface had a parameter SOURCE_SYSTEM LIKE RSUPDSIMULH-LOGSYS. I do not see the same in a Transformation Rule. Can anyone tell me how can I make a decision in my transformation rule depending on the Source System?
Say for instance I want to change the following Update Rule from a 3.x System to a Transformation in BI7:
    IF SOURCE_SYSTEM = 'ABC'.
       RESULT = 1.
    ELSEIF SOURCE_SYSTEM = 'A11'.
       RESULT = 2.
    ELSEIF SOURCE_SYSTEM = 'AZ1'.
       RESULT = 3.
    ELSE.
       RESULT = 0.
    ENDIF.
Can anyone help? Points will be rewarded.
    Regards,
    Kazmi.

    Hi Siggi,
But how would I know the Request ID within a transformation ? REQUID is the key of the table rsbkrequest ? The interface of the transformation method has the following parameters:
      IMPORTING
        request     type rsrequest
        datapackid  type rsdatapid
        SOURCE_FIELDS
       EXPORTING
         RESULT
So all I can be aware of is the Request Name and the Data Packet Number. For instance when I took your approach, I got the Request Name as "DTPR_8E3VKVN0RJPDNXAKMP0PZJ99B" now I cannot look up with this against the key of the table because REQUID is a number field. Now, if I look up against the field "Data Transfer Process ID (DTP)" I do not find any entry in this table.
       Any more info?
    Regards,
    Thanks.

  • In the source list contract Number is  not showing up.

    On 10.11.2010
we added this Material 2211583 to contract 4600000149.
When we do display source list it is still not showing up.
Contract  4600000149  Validity Start  04.02.2008   Validity End    31.12.2009
We have changed validity End date for Contract to 31.12.2010;even then it is not showing up in source list
Is there any possibility to get Contract number in the source list
    Thanks in advance
    SAP MM

what did you do to get the contract into the source list for this item?
it does not create a source list item by itself, only because you entered the item in a contract.
You can either create the source list entry from the contract via menu. or you have to enter the contract manually  in ME01 or you generate the source list with ME05
