GoLive v6.01 Quicktime Slideshow - No Transitions

Hi,
Here is the offending page: http://www.nwtampa.com/featuredlistings.html
I created a quicktime slideshow and placed it on the page, but the transitions (crossfade) are NOT working. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Casey

Here's what Keynote's Help viewer says...
Using Sound and Movies:
You can add audio—a music file or playlist from your iTunes library, or any other sound file—to a Keynote document. You can add sound in the following ways:
• On an individual slide. The sound plays when the slide appears and stops when the slideshow advances. See Adding Sound to a Slide.
• As a soundtrack for the entire slideshow. The audio starts playing when the slideshow starts. See Adding a Soundtrack to a Slideshow.
• As recorded narration. You can record yourself talking about each slide. See Adding Narration.
You can also add video or Flash movies that play within a slide. For Flash to work with QuickTime 7.1.3 and later, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click QuickTime, click Advanced, and select Enable Flash.
Keynote accepts any QuickTime or iTunes file type, including the following:
• MOV
• FLASH
• MP3
• MPEG-4
• AIFF
• AAC
Adding a Soundtrack to a Slideshow:
If you add a soundtrack, the music starts playing when the slideshow starts. You can specify whether to play the audio once or repeatedly, or you can turn it off.
To add a soundtrack:
1. Click Inspector in the toolbar, and then click the Document Inspector button.
2. Click the Audio button.
3. Drag an audio file or playlist from the Media Browser to the Audio well in the Document Inspector. If you change a playlist, the change won’t be reflected in your soundtrack until you add the playlist again.
You can also drag a sound file from the Finder.
4. To repeat the sound file as long as the presentation is playing, choose Loop from the pop-up menu in the Document Inspector.

  • IMovie exported to Quicktime has jagged transitions

I have a slideshow (using Ken Burns effect on all pictures) that I just exported from iMovie 6.0.3 to Quicktime, using the H.264 Codec.
I used the "wash in" and "wash out" transitions for each picture. In the Quicktime version, every transition is wicked jaggy -- it looks as though each photo is disintegrating, rather than washing out.
Here are my other settings: Quality: high, frame rate: 15, bitrate: 20 kbits/sec, frame reordering: yes, encoding mode: multi-pass, dimensions: 640x480, scale: letterbox.
What setting can I change in order to ensure smooth transitions? Thanks!

When you export out of iMovie are you doing it using Share> Export QuickTime file or Export Movie? Believe it or not, you can export to Movie and rename the file extension from .m4v to .mp4 and get that to play on any Windows machine with Windows Media Player installed. It maybe a simple matter of saving it out to Movie, renaming it and sending that one along to the client, see if that one works better.

  • Quicktime slideshows

    Hello,
I am trying to publish Quicktime slideshows into my gallery page, I have tried everything that I can think of and it still does not work. The albums are perfect, but no slideshows?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Rick

Since you don't provide relevant information, I have to guess what you did.
In iPhoto I exported albums to QuickTime.
In iWeb I created a Photoalbum and dragged the movies on top of it.
All movies are display in the albumoverview page and each movie play on it's own page.
Took me 2 minutes to accomplish.
Since the Quicktime slideshow is a movie there are no pictures to display in a picture slideshow.

  • Slideshows with transitions - best app?

    hi,
does anyone have any opinions as to what is the best, or even easiest application for putting together slideshows.
I want to use it for wedding image, and a quality is important. I have DVDSP, iMovie, iDVD etc.
    Thanks.
    Hugh

    Hugh:
Take a look at PhotoPresenter. It has some of the best themes and transitions (29) I've ever seen. It integrates with iPhoto seamlessly and can combine both video and stills in the same slideshow. It also exports to Quicktime and can add music. All for $8. You can try it in demo mode to see if you like it. Try the Apple TV Intro. It would make a great introduction to a more conventional slideshow.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • The volume on the second half of my Quicktime slideshow fades out--and I don't want it to do that!

I used FotoMagico 4.0 to make a slideshow. There are options for exporting, and I chose the one called Custom, which makes a Quicktime movie. For some reason the volume in the second half of the show starts to fade out, and by the end I can barely hear anything. If I export to their Standalone Player, which allows the slideshow to play on a Mac computer, everything works just fine. I'm at my wits end trying to figure out how to fix this. I want to be able to export the slideshow to Vimeo so that people on Macs and Pc's can both watch it, but I can't do it with the volume the way it is.

Go to System Preferences. Then under the General tab, there is a tick box saying "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps." Un tick that box. Once you start and quit Safari again, it will go back to your home page.

  • Quicktime Slideshow Movie Won't Play Music

I created a slideshow using my iPhoto 5.0.4 then exported it to a movie as Quicktime, with music. It plays beautifully on my machine. I burned it to a CD and sent it to someone with the identical Mac (a PowerBook G4) and he couldn't play it on his SAME version of QuickTime. As he explained it, his Apple kept sending him to iTunes to search for the music, which it claimed it couldn't find even in the Music Store (odd, since I bought the music from my Music Store).
Similarly, another person trying to view the same Quicktime movie on a PC, using a freshly downloaded of version of Quicktime, reported that the slideshow played but with NO music.
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
    Anne

Thanks for the explanations. I am trying to get my brain around the notion that if I had a CD of my own downloaded to iTunes, I could make all the copies I wanted and use them however I wanted, but a legally purchased song that iPhoto has no objection to my exporting to a QT movie is outside the rules!
That said, the explanation makes technical sense to me, so thanks!

  • Cannot create a Quicktime Slideshow

I have Quicktime Pro 7.6.2 installed [with valid key]. I followed the instructions found at: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/tutorials/slideshow.html, however it does not create a slideshow that contains all the files [about 65 jpg images]in the sub-directory.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled Quicktime but no luck.
Please... any help would be greatly appriciated.

The image files must be the same dimension and named sequentially. They will be imported in that order. Keep the names "simple", avoid leading zeros, use alphanumeric symbols (no characters).

  • Poor Photo Quality on Quicktime Slideshow Export

A friend of mine is having this problem. Can anyone help out?
    (they are using iPhoto 5.0.4)
I've always used iPhoto to builld slideshows and
export them as a QuickTime movie. I've never had a
problem until recently. I'm building one now that has
a lot of vivid color images in it. When I export it,
some of the images are appearing pixellated. The
quality just isn't there. I'm exporting on the
largest size available. I'm sure the problem is
probably compression; it must be having a problem
compressing the data on the color images. The b/w
images are fine. This is the first time I've ever
seen this. I've used iPhoto to build/export color
shows before without a problem, but I know that was
before we upgraded to the newer version. I've tried
resizing images down to see if it would help, but it
    hasn't.

    Steve:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What system version and Quicktime version are being used? If QT is not at 7.0.3 I suggest you update to that followed by a permissions repair.
Otherwise pixilation suggests insufficient file size. What size are they and are you using them in a KB effect?

  • Power Point / QuickTime Slideshow

I don't know if I am in the correct forum, or if anyone can help with a non-mac software issue, but if you don't mind .... I tired to make a Pwr Pt slideshow, the kind you get in your Mail account that has the PwrPt icon and when you click on it, you can watch some fancy slideshow of photographs. I exported from iPhoto as a slideshow and then it became a Quicktime movie at 126 MB which bogged up my Mail account. How does a person share a slideshow to others over the internet and not bog down their mail accounts , Thanks

You should be able to select the quality of the QuickTime export. Try H.264 at 320*240. This is iPod quality and may or may not be sufficient for your needs.
If not, why not just send them using iPhoto's email function? You can set them to be compressed, and if the recipient is using Mac OS 10.4, they can view the photos as a slide show on their computer (although they won't music and the photos may be out of order). PC users can still browse the photos as message attachments.

  • IPhoto/Quicktime slideshow to Facebook

I created a photo slideshow with music in iPhoto '08, which I then exported to iDVD and ended up with a Quicktime movie in QTP 7.5.5.
I would like to post that video with sound to my Facebook page and thought I had successfully done so -- until I realized there was no sound. I have the same problem when I try YouTube, video but no sound.
My ideal venue for this video is Facebook, so could someone please give me a step by step to correct this issue?
    Thanks

I have a related (I think) problem. The uploaded Quicktime movie with sound opens on facebook on my iMac but not for facebook friends on pc's even tho they have Quicktime.

  • Random white frames in Quicktime Slideshow

I've made a slideshow in iPhoto and exported a Quicktime movie that I plan to put on DVD. Everything works, except that around 1:40 into the movie, the screen goes randomly white for a frame. One images fades to black, and then there's a random white frame, and then the next image fades up from black. There's only one way to export a slideshow, and I've recreated the whole thing several times. There is no reason for it to do this, and it's driving me nuts. It doesn't show up when I view the show in iPhoto, but every time at the same spot when I look at the exported movie.

I presume you are using an album for this slide show. An album contains only an alias for a photo in your library. The alias may be pointing to a photo that has been deleted or corrupted.
Check out the photo that is supposed to appear at that point.

  • Exporting Quicktime Slideshows with Music Playlists-No audio

I am using iPhoto 7.1.3, Quicktime Pro, OS 10.4.11 on a MacBook Pro. I made a slideshow that has 300 photos and attached it to a playlist of four mp3 songs (all the same format, I believe). When I play the slideshow in iPhoto, it runs fine: all four songs play through from the selection of the playlist. However, when I export the slideshow as a Quicktime movie, there is no audio.
If I choose one song, the file works fine, repeating the music over and over.
If I go to the hassle of opening the individual songs in Quicktime and copying and pasting the audio together into one large track, imported back into iTunes, then I can "hack" the four songs into my Quicktime export.
It doesn't seem like this should be a problem. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Jack

If you can't find a solution try Join Together, a free application for joining multiple tracks into one. It's reasonable fast, I'm joining audio CDs together as I type, and would make it much easier that doing it manually.
That being said, try reinstalling the intel 10.4.11 COMBO installer and the latest QT updater, 7.4.1. Follow that by a repair of disk permissions. All bets are off if any of the tracks are protected tracks from the iTMS.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Problem exporting slideshows without transitions

I've been trying to export slideshows (really QT movies) from iPhoto 11 (9.5) without transition effects. In other words, I just want to export the raw movie file as captured. In the slideshow settings, I cannot access "transitions," although the check box is not checked anyway. Every movie I export, however, includes a fade out at the end, which I definitely do not want. The other check boxes are working as they are meant to.
I'm using an iMac 2.9 GHz Intel i5, running Mavericks. Both iPhoto and Mavericks have been updated to the latest version. Anyone else having this problem? If so, any suggestions how to overcome it?
    Thanks in advance.

I don't beleive you can avoid the fade out, so I would add a black jpeg on the end of the slideshow so your last shot isn't faded.

  • Quicktime slideshow to DVD

My wife created a slideshow in iPhoto, and now there is a QuickTime file that will play the slideshow on the computer. How do I get this file to DVD format (so I can burn a copy and give it as a gift?).

I had tried simply dragging the file in the past and had issues with ye olde spinning beachball. Much better now - thanks...

  • Quicktime Slideshow Export Not Working

I have created a slideshow, updated all the settings, etc.  I then click on the export button, choose my quicktime settings and hit export.  The dialog box is up and working, I can see the slideshow being made, and once it's completed a file is in the right place.  However, that file shows nothing but white background.
A few details, I'm using iPhoto '11 version 9.1.1 on a new MacBook Pro running 10.6.7.  I also imported the imags from an external hard drive, but have put them in a library on the desktop, so the images are no longer being pulled from the hard drive.
So everything seems like it's working until I try to play the video.  I'm saving it as a Quicktime h.264 file.  Any suggestions or questions for me to clarify to get some help?
    Thanks

    HA!
That's a great one to play at Parties!!
BTW - that's a great way to do one-offs of sections you want to send out. HOWEVER - a problem there too - if you have a CLIP selected, FCP won't know if you are exporting that cut or the in/out point. Make sure everything is DE-selected. You'll notice a color shift in the timeline indicating the IN/OUT area when you are good to go.
Glad you fixed, now GET BACK TO WORK!
