Google search language in safari

Hi all
Does anyone know if there is a way to determine the language of google search in safari, when using the toolbar in the corner.
I would like to switch from english to german. Does anbody have an idea?

Have you gone to the gear wheel at the top right of the Google page and adjusted your Search Settings/Language appropriately?
As much as you may prefer Safari, it does lack some features that other browsers have.

  • Google search language in Safari toolbar

I am having a strange problem. When I am searching using Google in the Safari toolbar the results have started to come back in another language (I think it may be Ukranian). Can anyone suggest how I might change the language back to English? I have checked all obvious settings are set to English and I have no idea how or why this changed in the first place. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks.

That might help also (-: It's the first thing I install on any mac I use.

  • How to set google search language in latest Safari

There are various posts on how to set the default Google search language for the new unified search bar within Safari. But, those did not help me at all. I'm still having french as default language for Google in Safari. I set my language to english (as wanted) under the mentioned link (http://www.google.com/preferences?hl=en)  and saved those settings. I live in the german part of Switzerland (and not in France) and I connect to the internet over my nearby ISP. I even reset Safari completely but still each time I do a search in the unified search bar this google sh... shows up in french. Which I definetly do not want and speak.
    Any help very much appreciated.

    I finally figured it out.
I had to go to Google France (http://www.google.fr/preferences?hl=en) and set my language to English there. Hopefully I don't have to go to the Chinese page as well and set my language to English there as well. I guess I would be lost again.

  • As of this morning, I am being redirected to uk.gomeo when i click on google search results in Safari. Do I have a virus?

    Hi,
First time poster and very non-techy person here. I am being redirected to urls starting "uk.gomeo..." when clicking on Google search results in Safari. Quick search on this seems to suggest I have a virus. Not sure what to do or how to get rid of it. Not sure what could have caused it either. Downloaded Acrobat update couple of days ago which took hours, and Twitter account was hacked about a week ago. All software updates up to date. Any advice much appreciated.
    Thanks.

Sorry editing that way doesn't work anymore in Lion. But you can look and see if there are any google entries in it. If there are not any google entries you can ignore my posts. If there are try this:
    Open terminal
    sudo nano /etc/hosts
When prompted for the sudo password - The correct password is your own (the password of the user logged into OS X, also the password you provide when doing system updates and so on).
now you can delete the line(s) that contain google and save.
Using your arrow keys go to the line containing google. Delete the line. Do the same for all lines containig google.
if you have a problem deleting, do a control-x to exit, and reply n to the modified buffer question. To save your changes do a  control-o and hit enter , then do a control-x to quit.
Note: normally you never edit the hosts file, but if you see google entries in it then a malware programs has added them. It has been happening with a bogus flash update, that installs flash and asks for your system password. SOmething that seem quite normal when installing software. This bogus flash update makes the hosts modifications adding their own IP adrress for google.

  • How to delete google search history in safari on itouch ?

    Hi All !
I would like to know how I can delete the google search history in safari?
    Thanks

I just found the answer somewhere else in the forum - it worked for me.
Clear it while in Safari by going to bookmarks, then "History," and then the "Clear" button in the bottom left.

Try to download Acid Search again a bit later. The site may be up and running by then.

  • Can't go back to original Google search page in Safari 5.0.2 update

A couple of days ago updated Safari to 5.0.2. I used to do a Google search, advance thru a few pages, on a link, and then click the "return" arrow in the Google box, top right, and would be returned to my "original" search page. In the Safari 5.0.2, the "return arrow" isn't there anymore. Where is it?? Very annoying, requiring more entries now to get back to my "original" search. Did Apple remove this or is it just turned off. Thanks!,

Don't know what that is. There used to be an arrow in the google box at top right that aloud me to go back to the original page. But now if I search google from the bookmarks bar.. no arrow appears. So, what is the Snap Back from the extensions gallery??

  • How Do I Change Google Search Results in Safari 3.1?

I travel a lot. Currently I'm in India. When I was using Safari 3.0, the Google Search Bar search results were always from google.com. Now that I've upgraded to 3.1, the search results are from google.co.in.
How do I get the search bar to give me .com results again?

Unless they've changed it in the past year, the auto-complete on Inquisitor was a deal-breaker. It kept on completing words that I didn't want to type.
Inquisitor has changed a lot over the past year. I used to use AcidSearch. This has it beat hands down.
Unless directed otherwise, I believe Google adapts the search function to your location based on the IP. Hence, the "Indian search".
Back to Inquisitor, one picture is worth a thousand words.

  • Dead Google Search Links in Safari

After making a Google search, I hit the 'back' button, only to find all of the links on the page frozen. This happens ALL the time in my Safari Google searches. Is anybody experiencing a similar issue?
    For example:
    1) I search "Martin Luther King" in Google (typing into the Google search box in the Safari toolbar).
    2) Google shows the search results.
    3) I click on an item to read it.
    4) After reading the article, I hit the 'back' button to return to my search.
    5) None of the search results are clickable. They're all dead. Not a single link on the page works. (Control-click does nothing, either)
This happens on a daily basis, with nearly all of my Google searches.
I have done many re-sets of Safari caches, etc. This incredibly frustrating problem continues.

From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the errant extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. Its settings will revert to their defaults. If the extension still causes a problem, remove it permanently or refer to its developer for support.

  • Can the Google search box in Safari be made to use the UK Google search page?

I've only just realised, (after nearly eight months of Mac ownership!), that my Google search results seem to be rather US-oriented.
I think this is because the search box in Safari, which I do have set to Google as my default, is using the US Google.com search engine instead of the Google.co.uk one.
Am I correct in thinking this? And, if I am, is there any way of tweeking Safari to use the UK version please?
    I'm using Safari 5.0.5

If you want to fix your Google search to a specific Google location, I recommend that you download and install the free plug-in Glims:
    http://www.machangout.com/
which not only does that but much more equally useful stuff! Such as enabling Safari to run full-screen, and more.)
(It adds items to Safari Preferences).
Not only does it already list a number of search engines and regions, but you can also add any other search engine not already listed in Glims by using the method described here:
    http://www.machangout.com/tutorials/addsearchengine
Just enter the name you give the search engine in the name field, and the URL for it in the Query URL field.

  • Google search bar in safari with SL

clear searches is now gone and google doesn't suggest any search terms as you type.

    HI,
Try resetting Safari and see if that help...
To reset Safari, choose Reset Safari from the Safari menu.
From here you can clear history, empty the cache, clear the downloads window, remove all cookies, remove all website icons, remove saved names and password, remove other AutoFill form text, clear Google searches, and close all Safari windows.
You can do these all at once, or one at a time to try to preserve items you want for convenience.

  • Google Search Gone in Safari

    Hello,
Please anyone help, my google search that is normally in top right of screen has vanished. I have tried 'View-Customise Toolbar' and can see that the search bar is there to move but is greyed out. I can add other buttons and functions just not search... any ideas? (I have just put mountain lion though... could it be this?)   i've attached a pic of what my brower looks like.  (and the greyed out area of my customise tool) many thanks

This is EXACTLY what happened to me Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!  After spending hours trying to fix it myself, I came here, spent hours trying to log in with the id and password I've had for 10 years, then see there is no fix.  I HATE the new safari.  Now, when you want to search, you have to erase the address.  They have got to fix it or I'll go to chrome like my son wants me to do!  Firefox still has the search window too.

  • Google search box in Safari not displaying matches

    Hello,
I just did the latest Software Update on both my MacBook Pro and iMac (the update was a new iTunes--version 10.3). I'm not sure why this is happening, but when I use the Google search box (located in the upper-right corner of the Safari window), I no longer see a list of possible matches to what I'm typing. Both of my computers now do not display them, yet it has always done this in the past.
Does anyone have a solution to this, or do you know what happened?
    Thank you very much.

My guess is Google did something wrong, figured it out and fixed it. The suggestions feature went away in Safari for Google, but not for bing, and continued to work in Firefox. It is all fixed this morning. I happened to be using Google when it stopped functioning, it had nothing to do with updates to the Mac, since as it went south I restarted in an earlier Snow Leopard version and discovered it was not working there either. So it was a Google action that caused the mishap, nothing that Apple did. Anyway, all's well now.

  • Google Search Field in Safari

Is it possible to change the Google Search Field within a Safari browser to be specific to the country you live in? Eg. I want mine to be a Google AU search field as opposed to just Google.
    Thanks.

If you want to fix your Google search to Google Australia, I recommend that you download and install the free plug-in Glims:

which not only does that but also much more equally useful stuff!
(It adds items to Safari Preferences).

  • Google search problem in safari

I went to do a google search and used the window in Safari. When I hit go, I get results but they look strange. Only the search term and then most of it is blank. It's as if the page is so big that I can't see the rest.  When I go to the bottom of the page it says Mobile, but nothing else. When I tap beside it, it went to a "classic" view as if on the desktop of your computer, but then I could not see what I was typing in the search box. It was invisible. No problem with Bing or Yahoo.
I also have noticed on a page that I normally check that the login button was not there. I could click where the login button usually is and then it will take me to the page, but what I type is also invisible.
I have an iPhone 4s 5.1.1. No problems on my husbands iPhone 4s.
    Will try to restore.
    Has this happened to anyone?

    Restore has fixed it.
