GooSync Free is back!

Hi:
I had been using GooSync to sync/backup my nokia calendar for long time until last year they decided to charge for all their service. Since then I was looking for alternatives.
First I tried Ovi.com but I had troubles with time (see here) and international characters (see here). Another inconvenient is that Ovi calendar is not compatible with google calendar (which is far more usable) and don't have any netvibes/igoogle/Vista widget.
Then I singed up to memotoo. They services are great, but the free version is very limited in the number of items you can sync.
Fortunately, GooSync decided to take back their free service in April this year, due to the "overwhelming demand to bring it back" by their former users.

  • I just had to restore my phone how do I get my free apps back without downloading them

How do I get my free aps back from where I left off with them after I had to do a system restore?

All content on the device should be a mirror of what is on the computer.
If the apps and media do not exist in your iTunes library on your computer, the only way to get it back is to re-downloaded it from the iTunes store.

  • Adding free space back to my hard drive

I erased windows from my MAC and am trying to add the free space back to my hard drive in disk utility and I keep getting the error message... 'Could not modify partition map because filesystem verification failed'
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Or why it's saying this??
    Thanks

You did not do this correctly. You should have used Boot Camp Assistant to remove the partition. You cannot use Disk Utility for this. Having done so is the reason for the error. You have only one thing you can do - repartition the entire hard drive.
    1. Repair your OS X volume and permissions.
    2. Backup your OS X system to an external drive.
    3. Boot from the external drive.
    4. Use Disk Utility to repartition the internal hard drive.
    5. Clone your external drive to the internal drive.
    6. Use Startup Disk preferences to designate the internal drive as the startup drive.
    7. Reboot the computer.

  • How do I merge "free space" back into my OS X partition

Here is what I am currently looking at:
There is about 20 gb of free space that I was going to use for an Ubuntu install but have since changed my mind. To be safe I downloaded the Recovery Disk Assistant and installed it onto a flash drive. When I boot from that and enter disk utility I can drag my OS X partition into the free space and it appears to fill the drive. When I hit apply, it does it's thing and completes the partition but then instantly reverts to what it started out as with the free space still there. I tried a restart but found my drive to be in the same state. I have several back ups so I am not really worried about it, but I assumed this would work. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to just restore from the backup? Can I do that without affecting the bootcamp partition? I am on a Macbook Pro Retina running 10.8.4.

You will need to add a new partition in that empty space. Be sure you format it Mac OS Extended, Journaled. If that works, then remove the partition and try extending the OS X partition. Note that this will render your Boot Camp partition non-bootable.
Another possibility is that you should not extend the OS X volume all the way to the top of the Boot Camp partition. Leave about 2 GBs free. See if that works by providing enough space for the Recovery HD to be relocated.
Did you ever attempt to install Linux or to format that partition for Linux?

  • Why when i delete photos and movies do i not get the free space back on my hard drive?

I'm desparately trying to free up hard drive space.  I have deleted unwanted photos and videos, emptied iphoto trash, rebooted and emptied regular trash but there is no corresponding increase in available hard drive space!  Please help or the Mac gets it!!

If you're using Time Machine to back up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of files you've recently deleted. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as "Backups." The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself.

  • Is there a way I can get the "Free Space" back without completely restoring my hard drive?

    Hi!
After having a terrible experience with Windows 8.1 on Boot Camp (Windows would always fail to boot), I tried restoring my partition with the Boot Camp Assistant and it would not work. Shortly after, I went to the Disk Utility to restore the Boot Camp partition and it was just "Free Space". I have Googled many different solutions, and am not sure what exactly to do. If possible at all, I would just like to know if there is any way to get back the "Free Space" without having to retire my entire hard drive.
Here is a screenshot of my Disk Utility...

Enable Disk Utililities Debut menu by entering the following command in the Terminal window followed by the Return or Enter key:
    defaults write com.apple.DiskUtility DUDebugMenuEnabled 1
Then select the Show Every Partition option in that menu:
That will give you the following in the left hand pane:
Click on each of the icons and you'll get the capacity of each volume and the used/free space on the working volume (Toad Hall in the screenshot).

  • HT3680 How to get my free space back after quitting the disk utility's erase free space

    Hi,
I started the DU's erase free space--fastest way method.  When it almost completed, I had a pop up that said that I need to free up disk space.
So then i was flustered enought to just quit the program because I didnt want to free up disk space and I was frustrated.
Not knowing it would still keep whatever it was that took the remaning disk space on my Mac.
How to I get this removed so I am back to before?

Sorry I don't really understand.... there are no partitions on the drive.  How do I repartition it?
And should I use "erasing free space" or "erase" for wiping clean my drive of everything?  Erase seems to be faster last tiem I tried.
    Thanks!

  • Merge free space back into partition

I was partitioning my external hard drive for time machine and I ended up with extra free space. How do I merge that back into one of the partitions?
See that extra block of 128 GB? How can I add that into the External Storage?

Manipulating the partition table always risks the data on the drive, but you can try the following to expand the partition size:
    1. open the Terminal and enter "diskutil list" to get a list of the drive devices and volumes on them, along with their identifiers.
    2. Run the following command using the identifier for the External Storage partition (replace "IDENTIFIER" with the identifier string, which will be something like "disk3s2"):
    diskutil resizeVolume IDENTIFIER R

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the word "Starting" (without the quotes.) You should now see log messages with the words "Starting * backup," where * represents any of the words "automatic," "manual," or "standard."
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Note the timestamp of the last "Starting" message that corresponds to the beginning of an an abnormal backup. Now
CLEAR THE WORD "Starting" FROM THE TEXT FIELD
so that all messages are showing, and scroll back in the log to the time you noted. Select the messages timestamped from then until the end of the backup, or the end of the log if that's not clear. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ If all you see are messages that contain the word "Starting," you didn't clear the text field.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.

  • Where can I find free back ground music and some sound effects?

    Hello out there.
Like a lot of amateur editors I am looking for a web site to download free instrumental back ground music for my projects.
I am looking for acoustic guitar, drum-n-bass, and also a few sound effects.
If you have used or know of any sites please let me know.
I am starting a project, so it's nothing I need in a hurry.
I don't add any music until the last.
Then I don't have to keep repositioning it on the time line as I make edits and cuts.
    Thank you any guidence.
    Jim

    Hi there,
After searching several sites I have used http://audiojungle.net for a couple of years now and have been very happy with my purchases. It's not free but the prices are really reasonable and it is all original stuff.
    Hope that helps

  • Saving and backing up iMovie projects

Here is a question I never dreamed I'd be asking: how do you save an iMovie "project"? Since 1984, every Mac application has had "Save" under the "File" menu where you could name and save your file. "Save often" became the main way to avoid disaster in the event of a application malfunction. Idiocy reigns at Apple; saving is no longer possible. Now I know iMovie is supposed to auto-save, but really...the Web is full of disaster stories of crashed apps and lost files.
Anyway, I want to do several things: 1.) I want to save my project so that I can open it at a later date and work on it again. 2.) Related to #1, I want to start a new project, confident that my old project is still accessible. 3.) I want to do twice daily back-ups of my working project so that if iMovie crashes I don't lose more than a half day of work.
All of this has become almost automatic in my nearly 25 years of working on Macs. File saving and backing up are one of the few constants that, until iMovie, were unchanged. Apple, in a regrettable display of poor decisionmaking, has abandoned this tried and true procedure. I really hope I'm missing something simple and I have to eat my words. Can anyone help me save my files? Thanks. By the way, no Time Machine here. I want to save these files manually.

Quit iMovie and open it later when you want to restart your project.
2.) Related to #1, I want to start a new project, confident that my old project is still accessible.
In iMovie, menu File > New. It will open a dialog box that allows you to name your new project and set the aspect ratio you will use.
You can see your old projects by clicking the "Project Library" button at the upper left corner of the iMovie window. It will show you all your projects. You can duplicate or rename any project, as you wish, in the library. If you want to edit an older project, select it in the library and then click the button "Edit Project" in the upper left corner of the iMovie window.
3.) I want to do twice daily back-ups of my working project so that if iMovie crashes I don't lose more than a half day of work.
iMovie store the projects and project events in the folder Home Folder username > Movies > iMovie Projects and Home Folder username > Movies > iMovie Events. Feel free to back up those folders as often as you'd like. I would incorporate some kind of naming convention that allow you to readily see the date/time of your backup, but that is up to you. If you crash for some reason, you can restore the contents of the folders from your backups.

Well, hmmmmmmm. Most mission critical software that I know, such as QuickBooks Pro, or Filemaker Pro do not have save commands, as I guess the designers feel that it is safer to have the program do the auto-save after every change the operator makes than leaving it up to the operator to remember.
Even Final Cut Pro, Apple's flagship edit software, has built in auto-save *in addition to* the manual save commands. I have my auto-save in FCP set to every two minutes.
    Hope this helps.

  • ICloud wont back up my iphone 4s

    Hi
My iPhone 4s won't back up to iCloud.
When i look on the settings>icloud>storage&backup>manage storage>my iPhone, it says under back up options that my next back up size is 5.4GB. This is obviously too large for the free 5GB back up i have. The main culprit for this is camera roll. It says that the next back up size would be 5.2GB for the camera roll.
So i have deleted loads of videos and photos and my actual camera roll storage at present is 1.8GB (settings>general>usage>storage)
Cant understand why this reduced amount is not recognised by iCloud when trying to back up.
I have updated to the latest softwear ios 6.1.2 but this has not fixed (or caused) the issue
    Any help much appreciated
    Thanks

  • HT203167 Lost App after iPhone restore. Who do I get the app back?

I bought iNet - Network Scanner and after a iPhone restore I can only get the free version back on my phone.
How do I download the app I have already paid for? Should I lose an app because I need to restore I don't think so, this is completely wrong.  I paid for this app and would like to be using it still.  I have always backed up me iPhone and also restored it and still don't have the full functioanlity of this app, there maybe others.  If I have to pay for it again then these companies are getting money for nothing which is the same as stealing from there own customers.
If anyone has any idea how to download this I would like to hear about it.  I have of course tried using the Purchased link in iTunes Store but this doesn't help.

" Should I lose an app because I need to restore I don't think so,"
It has always been very basic to ALWAYS backup your content.  Did you fail to do the basics and backup your purchases.
You can redownload apps, if they are still available in the app store: See this:
