Nonsense, no problems logging in at sites that you mention. I use OpenDNS servers. For the OP try:
System Preferences>Network>Advanced>DNS. In the left side column click on the + sign and insert the following:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
Then click OK, then click Apply.

Do you have one, two or more entries in the left colum of Mail.app for your mail server(s)? That is, do you have your Mail.app set up with either a btinternet entry, with a btyahoo entry, or both? Or more?
I'm guessing that you might have one account (btyahoo?) listed for incoming (IMAP server) mail, and with the outbound (SMTP server) mail is configured and named btinternet.
Based on what little I see posted, it looks like BT uses both btinternet and btyahoo, but I'm not exactly clear on how they have their stuff set up, and their web set gets helpful and tries to help configure my mail — I don't immediately see a single web page with the mail server set-up details. The BT email client set-up starts here. -
I have been backing up iMovie 08 files to my external drive, but for some reason I can't open these files in iMovie. I used drag and drop to copy them.
You really should be doing backups with an actual backup application, especially one that will work automatically, and, if your external HD is large enough, back up your entire system. These can automatically back up only what's changed since the previous backup, and some will keep "archive" copies of things you've changed or deleted, also.
Too many things can go wrong, such as your internal HD failing, and you'll have a major project to reinstall everything.
You already have Time Machine, built-in to OSX. You might want to review the Time Machine Tutorial, and perhaps browse Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.

For some reason this stopped working on firefox a week or so ago. I have tried to uninstall and install firefox again but the problem still persists. I've tried both chrome and explorer and they don't seem to have this problem.

I'd try starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. Without getting into splitting hairs, no, not necessarily. For instance, a ruling from the Canada Revenue Agency about how a software sale would have to be accounted for buy Apple and how it would affect corporate taxes would not be an explicit law and would explain why no one can provide a pointer to such a law since such a ruling would likely be an internal procedural matter and hence not published in any easily-accessible venue. That's sort of what little information has come out is pointing to, but again I don't know for sure.. Apple clearly feels they have reasons for the policy, though; if it were just being difficult, they'd have the same policy everywhere, so something in Canadian law, tax regulations, etc. is driving it. But to us end users, the reason really doesn't matter.
They could at least they refund the money for customers who were expecting to buy apps..
I would agree that if the restriction isn't printed on the gift card itself or otherwise made clear at the point of purchase, a refund would be in order. But Apple doesn't ask my opinion, and since they put the restriction in the iTunes Store terms of sale (to which we all technically agree when we create our accounts, though few people ever read the agreement), I think such a refund is highly unlikely. -
I bought an iTunes gift card to purchase certain things in my favorite app. Well when I try to buy things inside the game it does not give me the option to approve the purchase and it never shows up. I have reset the app, I have deleted the app and downloaded again, I have turned my ipod off and on, I have made sure all updates are up to date and nothing has changed. I saw a similar question like mine and the answer was that you have to have a credit card linked to your iTunes account to make in app purchases and I was thinking they were right until I talked to a few friends who cancelled their credit cards and took them off of the account and can still make in app purchases so that can't be the issues. I try to open up a texting app, and now, it won't lock, exit out (or crash suprisingly), multitask, or even power off. I also had auto lock set to two minutes and it has been about a full hour and it has never locked. If there is someone out there who has the same problem as me, and knows how to fix it, PLEASE TELL ME!!! I have a lot of texts that need to be answered... I also use the Assisstive touch and please tell me if that affects anything about these problems.

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

So I just changed from an iphone4S to an iphone 5 because my screen didn't work any longer on the 4s but the phone itself still works so I managed to get all my contacts etc BUT for some reason I can't transfer all my music across to itunes and therefore I can't get it onto my new phone, it only transfers about 50% of it.
Then when i go into music on the iphone 5 it shows the music but won't let you play anything and just flicks through all the songs without playing anything.
Can anyone help please?

Anybody can access the App Store - even without an Apple ID.
What are you saying? You cannot access your purchased apps with your new ID? If you are, that is the way that it works. If you set up a new Apple ID - you can't update the apps that you bought with the old ID. You have to continue to update the purchased apps with the old ID and password since purchases are always tied to the ID that made the purchases.
If you need to sign into your new ID you can do that in Settings>iTunes and App Stores>Apple ID. Tap th old ID and sign out then sign in with the new one. -
Went through this step-by-step, but alas it did not solve the problem. For some reason I can download mail on my Macbook Pro and iPhone, but no my iMac. Connection Doctor shows all green lights. This started today when I was prompted to re-enter incoming mail server passwords. I re-entered passowrds yet again to make sure they were correct. Rebuilt the inBox. Connection Doctor continues to show all green lights, but am still unable to download mail to the inbox. Has anyone else ever run into this problem?
I have the exact same problem trying to use the Remote app on both my iPhone 3gs and iPad 2 with either my Mac or ATV2. My Remote app used to work on my phone - I can't recall if I ever actually used it with my iPad, but when I tried today, I got all the same results as you did (on both iPad, and then iPhone). I was using my ATV2 to play music from iTunes on my Mac and wanted to use the Remote app, but it would not connect to either device no matter what I did.

In going over this, thanks to "tallking it out" with you, I did discover the Text Edit problem. Because I've still been unable to get the new computer text size (fonts or whatever) to match the old computer, I did not notice that the curser is now different--the line midway down the curser has to be placed on the line I am working upon, otherwise the edits go elsewhere on the page. Now, with a bit of difficulty, I am able to get Text Edit to work correctly.
If you have any ideas as to why my menu bar and Text Edit type are still so slow, I'd love to have them.
(I went through the process you suggested earlier, re my Trackpad preferences, and found no improvement.) -
I got a new Macbook Pro and a Superdrive when i put in a DVD it reads it and puts a dick icon with the DVD name when i open that i have the auido and video folders but cant play the DVD anyone know why.

Got a new Macbook Pro today and I plugged in my WD external hard drive to backup with but it didn't allow me to backup. The problem is that now my computer won't show the drive in finder. I can see it in Disk Utility and cannot access it. Help?

i just got a new apple tv but for some reason the remote only worked for about a min. and than it wount work at all. i tried to pair and unpair but nathing works but when i press a button the light on the apple tv turns off. what should i do?
Have you held the menu and left arrow together for 6 secs ? (I think you have from what you say).
Also try unpowering and restarting AppleTV.

Apple no longer distributes iDVD.
1) Buy an old iLife from a place such as e-bay or Amazon. Make sure it is a version that has iDVD. Do not buy it from Apple since their version no longer has iDVD.
2) Try a third party application (none really have the features of iDVD though).
Burn (free) - http://burn-osx.sourceforge.net/Pages/English/home.html - includes basic DVD authoring but you will definitely have to read the documentation.
Easily Burn Movies to a DVD without Apple's iDVD. - http://www.creativetechs.com/iq/easily_burn_movies_to_a_dvd_without_apples_idvd. html - directions for using Burn to make a TV DVD. Note, Burn also has a separate application which lets you do more fancy menus.

IOS6 Devices Reject WiFi connections
