GPIB-USB libraries that need to be included with Installer

Hi,
I need to make a small application executable, and the application needs to communicate with a power supply over a GPIB-USB-B connection. MAX can communicate with the power supply on this PC, and the second PC that I have my Base LabVIEW 7.1 installed on runs the executable application successfully. When I try to run the executable on the first PC, however, the process hangs. I included an Installer in the original executable build for the first PC, and in this build all the options under LavVIEW Run-Time Engine were checked (although LabVIEW RT Support wasn't available for checking.) However, none of the other options (Remote Panel License Support, Serial Port Support, Port I/O Support, and Hardware Configuration) are checked because I didn't think that I needed any of these for the basic GPIB communication I'm performing (just VISA Open, Read, and Write). Do you have any idea which of these libraries I need to include in the Installer to make this work? Or is there some other problem I'm not thinking of?
Thanks,
Mark

What makes the situation odd is that MAX was capable of communicating with the device, but my application was not. In the interest of making it work, I stuck a spare license of Base LabVIEW onto the PC, and then the application (even the compiled, executable one) worked fine. So clearly something wasn't loaded along with the GPIB-USB-B drivers (or my application installer) that WAS loaded by the full installation of LabVIEW. But, again, the oddness of the situation stems from the fact that before loading the full LabVIEW, MAX (loaded by the GPIB-USB drivers) could communicate fine with the device. This set of circumstances doesn't make any sense to me, but maybe someone else can come up with something.
The PC is a W2K box, and I assume whatever driver information that came in the installer and the GPIB-USB drivers has been overwritten by the full LabVIEW that's since been installed on the machine. I didn't actually oversee the installation of the GPIB-USB drivers, so it's possible the engineer who did that put the card into some odd state--it's also possible he didn't reboot after the driver installation. If the resources come free I'd like to clear out the machine and start fresh and recreate the sequence of events to see if I get the same result. I wouldn't be surprised if the problem stemmed from issues in the driver installation. But I want to hear if anyone's been in a situation like this before I go and do everything over again.
Thanks for your help, and for the additional installer information,
Mark

Next time an app update gets stuck try a reset. Press and hold both the home and power buttons for10-15 seconds till the Apple logo appears. Then release both buttons. Wait till your iPad starts on it's own. Try now. Also YouTube is still available. If you can't find it the the app store go to the bottom of the app store page and tap purchased. All your deleted apps will be listed and you can reinstall YouTube from there.

  • Why do you keep putting a box that needs to be UNTICKED with all these flash player updates?

    Dear Adobe
Please please please STOP putting McAffee with your very frequent flash updates - or if you do PLEASE stop making it a box that needs to be unticked.
The frequency of the updates is ridiculous - and have to be done manually whuch iis annoying enough - but if you do it fast and don't untick the box you get this unwanted software.  If people are genuinely interested, they will tick the box by choice.  Putting a box that you need to untick is a clear indication that you want to get people to get this in error.  (Similar to the way when I registered now, I had to UNTICK a box that would have allowed you to sell my contact details to spammers!)
PS It's impossible to find a contact email address on your Customer Care Site and I have to use this form.  In general this is a technique used by dishonest companies in order that customers do not have a record of their complaint in their own "sent items" from their own email account.
If you do insist on having this ridiculous number of MANUAL flash updates PLEASE STOP PUTTING IN BOXES THAT NEED TO BE UNTICKED
    Yours
    Shales

That's how it works with FREE software.  If you purchase Flash Professional, which installs a "standalone" Flash Player for testing, THEN they might consider your input, but they'd be able to verify if you had Flash Pro, and if you didn't, you'd end up back here again. I've been updating and using and testing Adobe products since 2003, and those pain in the &$#* installers have been around since then, and even before. The point I made stands. It ain't gonna change.

  • Adding USB card that needs power supply H520S

Just bought a 4 port USB 3.0 card for my H520S. I plugged it in and nothing. Then I read on the card manufacturer's website that I need to the connect the card to the PSU in order for it to work (there's an internal USB port on the card).
So I opened the PC and looked for an additional power source to connect the card to...but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be looking for.
Is this doable on this model?
If so, what cables do I need and where do I connect the cable to?
    Thanks in advance

    hi,
This Device Will need a 4 pin peripheral  Power Cable (Molex)
Like the one to the left on this photo
Since the unit is pre configured by Lenovo all Connectors on the PSU may just be enough for all what's preinstalled inside the unit.
Still Check the power Supply of your unit check inside if there is one available This cable is directly from the power supply, so once you open the computer case Look for the power  supply and check the cables coming out from it and look for this connector here is a closer look
    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/31/Molex_female_connector.jpg
If you cannot find out you might need to Upgrade the Power Supply.

  • Can I use GPIB instruments via GPIB-USB-HS and NI-VISA on MacOS with Matlab somehow?

I've just installed NI-488.2 (14.1) and I can see my GPIB instruments in the NI-MAX app. However I can not find them in the tmtool function in Matlab. Aparently Matlab on mac does not support GPIB (http://se.mathworks.com/help/releases/R2014b/instrument/supported-hardware.html) but it does support VISA.
Do you think there might be a way to connect to my devices in Matlab through VISA some how?

    Hi thanks for you answer.
Yes, I installed this version: http://www.ni.com/download/ni-488.2-14.1/5090/en/ which says: "NI-488.2 for Mac OS X, Version 14.1, installs NI-VISA and NI-MAX by default". I can also see all the correct .framework-files in the "Library/Frameworks/"-folder:
And since I can see (and query) the GPIB devices in both the "/Applications/National Instruments/NI MAX.app" and "/Applications/National Instruments/NI-VISA/NI-VISA Configuration.app/
HOwever Matlab does not want to detect any VISA drivers...

  • Superfluous files (like lv80rte) included with installer [LV 8.2]. Why?

I was looking through all the subdirectories created under Volume\bin by the installer in LV 8.2 and was wondering why some of them are there.
There are files everywhere that seem to deal with many languages even though I told the installer I only wanted English.
There's a directory that includes files such as PXIPlatformHardwareSupport64.msi and PXIPlatformServices.msi. I'm not using any PXI hardware.
There are directories LVBrokerAux71 and LVBrokerAux800. What are they?
There's a LV711RTE and LV80RTE dir which deal with LV 7.1.1 and LV8.0 run time engines. Why are they needed?

    GS wrote:
Why can't everything be included in the latest runtime engine?
Probably because that would require creating a new build (i.e. a new version of MAX) and validating it and everything that goes along with that which is quite a lot of work. It's much easier to just take the X megabytes, since space is mostly cheap.

  • HT5037 Indefinite loop trying to open iPhoto - need to prepare library with installer. Follow instructions and it says it is prepared but still won't open and says it needs to be prepared.

I open iPhoto and receive a message saying 'To open your library with this version of iPhoto it must first be prepared.' Then the Learn More or Quit option. I click Learn More and am taken to a site to download the installer. I follow the instructions and launch the installer. It says 'Your library can now be updated by the current version of iPhoto. Would you like to launch iPhoto now?'  I click launch iPhoto and a warning pops up saying that it needs to be prepared. this is an indefinite loop and I haven't been able to launch iPhoto in over a year! • Data folder not included with installer?

For some reason this time I built installer, it didn't include data folder. Why would it do it and what does data folder do?
    Kind Regards
    Austin

The data folder contains external dependencies such as DLLs. It's also the default location for support files that you add in the built specification. The loation of these files can be however configured in the build specification and if there is nothing to put in the default data folder, LabVIEW won't create it.

  • Creating exe with GPIB-USB

When I create an application that uses my GPIB-USB-A interface it is not included as one of the VISA selections when the application is installed. Which files do I have to add to application installation to have my application work with GPIB-USB?

You would need to install the GPIB and VISA driver,
For GPIB, follow the steps from www.ni.com/support/install. You can download the latest visa driver from, ftp://ftp.ni.com/support/visa/drivers/

  • Available References that need deployed within Visual Studio 6.0

Currently, we are still using the Visual Studio 6.0 to build small database business applications that connect to a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 database.
The application has been completed for the most part, and there is one report that has been developed with Crystal Reports 2008 Developer version: 12.2.0.290.
Within Visual Studio 6.0 I need to include "Available References" that get deployed with the application.
What references need to be included with our application's Setup.exe so when the user needs to print a report it can?
With an older application we developed over five-years ago, we included the following:
    1) Crystal Report Viewer Control
    2) Crystal Report 8 ActiveX Designer Run Time Library
    3) Crystal Report Viewer Control
    4) Crystal Common File Dialog Library 12.0
If I included these references in our new application, would this be fine, or would we need any other references and/or controls?

To add to Adam´s reply; more than likely you are using craxDDrt.dll in your app. This dll contains the COM APIs, but you are not licensed to use these. E.g., COM APIs were retired in CR XI R2A (11.5). So as Adam mentioned, your option is .NET or Java. Or, obtain CR XI R2A and reference the craxDrt.dll.

  • What IS the best program to use to create an animation, that needs to be viewed in Powerpoint?

What IS the best program to use to create an animation, that needs to be viewed in powerpoint?  Essentially i want to output a Movie File, so i'm guessing that Edge Animate is out of the question and it's not photoshop, more likely Flash?

So it sounds like you want to create a form. There are really two approaches, either Acrobat (AcroForm) or LiveCycle Designer (XFA form). LiveCycle Designer comes with Acrobat Pro, but it's an entirely separate application.
For an AcroForm, you'd create the underlying document in a page layout program (e.g., InDesign), word processor, or some other software and convert to PDF. Then in Acrobat you;d add the interactive form fields and any scripting you want. You can also add other types of interactive elements such as links, bookmarks, multimedia, etc. You can add a button which when clicked initiates an email with the filled-in form attached of submits to a web server.
For an XFA form, you'd normally create the entire document in LiveCycle Designer, particularly for a dynamic forms. There's a lot that PDF has to offer that's not available with XFA forms, but XFA forms can do things AcroForms can't. For a good discussion of the important differences between the two types of forms, see the following article: http://acrobatusers.com/blogs/thomp/so-what-difference-between-acroforms-and-xfa
For a form that needs to be saved with Adobe Reader, the document needs to be Reader-enabled. When such a document is opened in Reader, it will unlock certain functionality that Reader does not have otherwise, such as commenting, signing digital signature fields, and most important saving. But when a document has been extended this way with Acrobat, there are licesning restrictions. In short, if you distribute an enabled document to more than 500 recipients, you are allowed to use data from no more than 500 forms that have been returned to you, including hard copied. If fewer than 500 recipients, there is no such limit.

  • Printer Driver for Epson Stylus R800 Printer Included with OS X 5 Leopard

How many faulty drivers may there be included with OS X 5 Leopard?
After installing OS X 5 Leopard I found that when using my Epson Stylus PHOTO R800 printer photograph prints and ordinary lettering were extremely feint and unusable.
From the list of printers installed with OS X 5, as given in Apple "K"base Documents, I checked the version number of the driver for the Stylus Photo R800 and it was given as "SPR800 3.09 app"
I next checked the latest driver specified by Epson on their website---it too was given as
    "SPR800 3.09 app".
Despite this information I downloaded the "SPR800 3.09 app" from Epson and installed it and the problem was solved.
I am writing this to inform others that despite the driver included with OS X 5 being specified as
    "SPR800 3.09 3.09" it certainly is not!!!
The only answer is to use the latest version provided on the Epson website.

    Dear scb
Many thanks for taking the time to reply to my post, you are so right in your remarks.
Although I've been on Macs for around 25 years I hadn't come across something as blatant as this before---maybe I've been lucky!
Your comment regarding the avoidance of software included with the product is very relevant particularly at the present time, so soon after the release of OS X 5 Leopard. There must be thousands of printers and the like which are being sold right now with software applicable to OS X 4 Tiger included with them.

Am considering buying a Time Capsule.  But all specs I read about it (re: printing) is how to hook up a printer via USB connection.  Need to confirm...that a wireless printer will work with the router feature of the Time Capsule.  I assume yes...?

A wireless printer connects to the network just like your computer, or iPhone/iPad, etc. connects using wireless.
The printer must be set up intially to scan to "find" available wireless networks, then your specific wireless network needs to be selected. Then the password for the network needs to be entered.
Once the printer is configured to join the network, it is always connected to the network. No further configuration is required.
