Graphics Under A Budget

I have found a list of different cards that meat my budget im just not sure what would be best for me.
I am a casuall gamer im not orried about havin effects turned up full and i do want games to run at 1024 x 768 .
I would like to be able to play the new farcry as my mx440 doesnt even show half the graphical details. And maybe even half-life when i comes out.

hmmm keep looking,
when the nvida 6800 finally comes the others should drop, a little
i would stay away from ati se cards, they are really crippled,
the two that i would recomend is ati, 9600, and nvida 5700.
they are both direct x9 cards and about as low as you want to go
they dont have to be xt or ultras, just not se.
try hunting for those and see what kind of prices, check
asus,pny,msi, ati as manufacturers.
newegg.com.....not sure if it ships overseas.

Replace still graphic under titles at beginning of movie

I've got a still image at the beginning of the vid that appears under the graphics. But now I've got a different image to replace it with - when I try to replace it, I seem to manage to delete the titles as well as the image.
Is it possible to replace it with the minimum of fuss?

Hi dawdle - your first sentence is not very clear - 'an image ... that appears under the graphics'?
If you mean that you want to replace a still image that lies under your title, with another image, then that is not possible without re-doing the title as well.

How can I get the extra graphics under artwork in Photoshop elements?

I got an old laptop running and have PSE installed. I used to use it a lot for the graphics, backgrounds and frames. A bunch of them have a blue ribbon across the upper right corner and when I try to use them it ask to me to sign it to photoshop.com. I am aware that Photoshop.com has been depreciated. Is there anyway to get access to the extra graphics, frames, backgrounds, etc...?

Move graphic under another one

Hi,i use InDesign since CS2 and i just remembered the thing that i missed from Quark.
I have a graphic of two person cropped by a PSD clipping path on top of another graphic (see Picture 2.png joined). If i try to click the grey graphic below (between the legs), i will always select the one with the persons (the one on top). Is there a way to move, like Quark, the graphic below without having to move the top frame?

Organizing by layers would help a whole lot. But even in one layer, if you Cmd click the top image, it will select the next image down in stacking/layer order. Altho it feels clumsy, you can Cmd click down to the object; but begin mouse dragging even before you release the mouse click, and in this clumsy-feeling way begin to move the object. I generally resort to the arrow keys to move something that I have Cmd clicked down to.

System upgrade z77 based machine - new Disks/SSD + new graphics card £1500 budget

Hello all, I've read so many threads I am totaly confused now over how best to upgrade my machine. I'm a photographer moving into DSLR shooting and editing on premier pro. My machine is 2 years old and I think OK to upgrade but many threads and current suggestions are for current latest processors and I want to get a balanced machine. I currently have 4 drive as raid 10 for my programs OS, and a mirrored drive for media files but I obviously need to change most of this. I dont do any after effects(currently) but often use the multi cam editor and 4/5 viceo tracks on a timeline. I've got 32G of ram. I think I need possibly SSD OS/progs, several fast drives and a compliant video card. My PSU is 750w and I have 10 drive bays in a huge case. PLease help!

My personal opinion is that you are stretching it a bit. DSLR footage is pretty difficult to handle and requires some horsepower. Using it with 5 shots in a multicam situation is extremely taxing on the system, especially on the CPU and memory.
If I were to go from scratch, I would go for a 2011 platform with an overclocked i7-3930K CPU and a dedicated raid controller, but you have a Z77 with a quad core. Assuming you don't want to change platforms now, I would suggest:
Overclock your CPU to around 4.5 GHz.
Use 32 GB 1600+ memory.
Use a GTX 650 Ti Boost or GTX 660 video card. It makes no sense to go higher than that on this platform.
There is no sense in going for a dedicated raid controller on this platform, since it reduces your video card performance by around 10-15%, due to the lack of PCIe lanes and you want that video performance for the multicam processing.
You are between a rock and a hard place. The Z77 platform has severe limitations for what you want to do, but the X79 platform carries quite some costs. I don't envy your position.
Experience is that marvellous thing that enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.

Suppose if the charge account what we use in the PO is not assigned to the Budget Organization in GL responsibility, but still we can reserve the amount for this charge account. Here the conclusion is " If the charge Account is not assigned to the Budget Organization which means does the system will automatically consider the Funds Check Level as 'None' for this charge account" is it right or correct me if i am wrong? plz let me know.

Windows 8 Consumer Preview: AMD Switchable Graphics - Unswitchable

Hello everyone,
I have a HP Pavillion dv6-6004tx notebook computer, and I recently upgraded it to the Windows 8 Consumer Preview (Build 8250). I would like some troubleshooting from those who have/are experiencing this and may have found a way around it.
As far as the specs of my computer goes:
Intel Core i7-2720QM
6 GB DDR3 RAM
64-Bit OS
AMD Radeon HD 6700M
Intel Graphics Family
The problem lies within my display drivers. Some of you may also have a Switchable Graphics feature installed in your computers. But for those who don't, basically what it is is a feature that allows one to switch their display adaptor from a Power-Saving GPU to a High-Performance GPU, and vice versa.
In my case, as you can see above, the High-Performance GPU is the Radeon 6700M, while the Power-saving GPU is the integrated Intel one. My problem deals with not being able to switch back and forth between them, like I was able to back on Windows 7. As this is a feature of AMD Catalyst Control Center, I have searched their website and they actually have a supported driver version for Windows 8 CP, albeit it still being a beta and sometimes glitchy.

(As you can see, my model: AMD Radeon HD 6000M Series is listed)
After installing the Control Center, I restarted and a pop-up notifcation tells me that:
"The Catalyst Control Center is not supported by the driver version of your enabled graphics adapter. Please update your AMD graphics driver, or enable your AMD adapter using the Displays Manager."
I found this odd at first, as my model clearly was listed. But after some inferencing, I realized that my computer must be running on the integrated Intel graphics by default. This was further reinforced when I tried playing some games and other applications (It would be slightly choppy - as experienced before when I had forgotten to switch back onto High-Performance GPU).
The AMD Radeon card used to have an error (The device won't start. Code: 10) under device manager, but with a fresh install of the driver obtained from AMD, it seems to be working fine. However, my computer is still using the Intel card by default, and I have no way of switching to the other GPU as Catalyst will not start.
Has anyone found a way around this?

I'll give you a two way to make it work!!!! There is so much incompatibilities with the FIRST METHOD listed, you won't get use a Intel (less power consuming card) GPU to work after the changes! you've got to wait till HP let's it work properly or deal with power hungry AMD GPU even in battery mode .
THE SECOND METHOD listed works without any problem with compatibility in any apps BUT IT IS Require pace and order ( may be exhaustive for newbie's, no worries listed below got all the info you need to make it work)
SO the first option:
NOTE:THIS WILL TRIGER THE OUTCONTROL EVENTS SO PRECAUTION METHODS I WILL ADVISE FURTHER AS WE GO STEP BY STEP _ DOWNLOAD CHROME IF YOU RUNNING INTERNET EXPLORER ( GRAPHIC CARD WILL WORK WITH GAMES BUT NOT WITH METRO APPS THEY WILL NOT CRASH JUST NOT LAUNCH
ALL THE METHODS BELOW TESTED BY MYSELF AND GET WORKED YET MANY INCOMPATIBILIES STILL WILL REMAIN USE IT ON YOUR OWN RISK!
as i can tell all the games working properly yet battlefield 3 won't launch
1. AT first make sure that windows UPDATE IS SWITCH OFF or let you choose to download and instal (not automaticly or it will update ur device (at device manager) without ur permision and all eforts are gone!
2.uninstall AMD Catalyst from "program and components" at control panel, then uninstal all the devices Intel and AMD at device manager at the control panel (check unistal driver at intel HD driver)
3.reboot! after reboot download this http://www2.ati.com/drivers/hotfix/win8/amd_catalyst_win8_consumer_preview_[rc10].exe
and this
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp53001-53500/sp53025.exe - 300mb
4. instal sp53025.exe at windows 7 compatibility mode (it'll unpack by default in C:/SWsetup)
then start the istalation make sure u choose a "custom" , THIS IS CRUCIAL - uncheck the CATALYST (check all the rest intell driver amd driver ect.) after the instalation do not reboot
5. Next start the instalation of the windows 8 consumer preview driver from AMD.
uncheck all the rest ( after the sp53025 there will be only AMD driver (check/uncheck) and the catalyst (check/uncheck) box available) uncheck the AMD driver and install only the CATALYST driver!!!!
Reboot! Enjoy !!! There will be no CATALYST(only the intel preference and settings where the CATALYST should've be) at the right mouse click but switchable graphic is now awailable LIKE THIS
Unfortunately you'll won't be available to choose between the INTEL and AMD ! AMD is now working by default
All the .exe will now recognize 6770m
AND METRO APPS WON"T WORK!!!!!!! AS internet explorer will crash as you'll open it
SECOND METHOD IF THE FIRST FAILS (WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE IF HANDS ARE STRAIGHT MORE OR LESS)
FURTHER IS TESTED!
THIS METHOD EXCLUDE THE METRO APPS CRASH AND ALL THE REST INCOMPATIBILITIES WITH EVERY EXECUTABLE PROGRAMS AND GAMES!!!!
Note: Requires knowledge to sign your own drivers, disable signing enforcement at boot and modding some inf files.

Requirements:
.NET Framework 3.5 -- Can be enabled within Windows 8, in "Turn Windows features on or off"
Windows Driver Kit (WDK) -- Can be downloaded from here
Configure Windows Update to only "Download updates but let me choose wether to install them", and hide both Intel and AMD updates. This is to prevent our driver be updated by Windows.
1.Download the latest switchable graphics drivers from this site: leshcat blog IT Tips & Tricks: Catalyst 12.3 Pre-WHQL UnifL for Switchable Graphics
2. Run the installer that will extract the contents of the file, by default it will ask you to disable "Signing enforcement of Windows", you will know that it is working after rebooting because a "Test Mode" watermark is added to the desktop, above "Windows 8 Consumer Preview".
3. At this moment, do not run the AMD installer yet. We need to modify some files. By default, the driver will be extracted to "C:\Drivers\Catalyst 12.3 Pre-WHQL UnifL".
4. Go to this directory, and open the following file "Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF\C7133662.inf"
Do the following changes:
In the section [Version] add:

5. Follow this guide to Test-Sign a Driver Package. (This guide is generic)
6. After the previous step, you should have a Catalog file and the inf file we modified previously.
7. Now proceed to run the AMD installer in "Win 7" Compatibility Mode. It is most likely that the driver install will fail at this stage, but the rest of Catalyst software will be installed.
8. Now install the driver using the "Have disk" method in device manager and your modified INF for both Intel and AMD cards.
9.If you did the test-signing process correctly, the installation will succeed for both cards.
10. Reboot and enjoy your switchable graphics under Win 8.
I still have to figure out how to make brightness controls to work.

Known issues:
- Sometimes switching may not work, resulting in BSOD.
- When AMD gpu is active, Intel driver context menu options are still available.
Features:
AMD gpu can be turned off, so battery will last longer.

Kernel panic when auto switching between dual graphics, Macbook Pro 17 (8.3 / Lion)

I was wondering if you might be able to help me with an issue I'm having. I reciently bought a new 17 inch Macbook Pro 8.3 that came pre installed with Lion. I'm fairly technical but this is overkill even for me. I managed by googling "AGC GPU REGISTER RESTORE FAILED" to find a japanese blog that helped me fix the problem but it's only partially solved. I'm not getting any kernel panic attacks by switching of the integrated graphics under "Energy Saver" in system prefs but instead getting decreased battery life as the computer is constantly using the dedicated graphics card. So in other words when I untick the "Automatic Graphics Switching" the problem is gone.
I always get the same report and it doesn't really matter if I'm pushing the machine to it's limits or just writing something in TextEdit. When speaking to Apples support advisors they implied that it's most likely not hardware related but software related. I personally think that it's most likely the driver related and could be fixed by modifying the AppleGraphicsControl.kext file but I can't be sure. I've never modified a kext file before and feel a bit uncomfortable doing it without any assistance.
Could anyone please give me some advice. It would be sincerely appreciated.

PS. Forgot to add that I've reinstalled Lion several times, reset SMC, PRAM, etc. None of that worked.

I had to send my MB Pro to an authorized apple service provider where they ran diagnostic tests on it and concluded that it was the logic board (motherboard) that was as seeehr germans would put it "kaput". After they replaced it with a new one and re-did the tests everything worked fine. So in my opinion waiting for a SW update to fix the issue one would have to wait an eternity. Just let the technicians take a look at it and they'll most likely replace the logic board or the entire computer depending on what makes most sense for them.
This is not a software glitch but HW. The only reason one does not experience this in bootcamp is due to no automatic graphic switching in windows. It only runs the dedicated GPU and never switches to the intergrated Intel HD3000 GPU.
Hope this gives you some clarity.
PS. I asked the technician if he could give me a detailed explanation in regards to which part of the GPU / logic board was causing the issue but he couldn't answer that question.

Graphics card upgrades

I have a G6-1189SA laptop with Integrated HD intel graphics card.
It is not good for running things such as minecraft. Is there an additional slot where i can fit a better graphics card. If there is, would you recommend any particular graphics card - sady budget is a consideration?

I'm sorry to say, but it's not possible to upgrade your graphics adapter as it is physically soldered to the Motherboard and so is not an upgradeable component. There is no addition slot ( as there usually is in a Desktop PC ) to fit another graphics card.

Why does my macpro retina say 512mb graphics memory?

I've just recieved my new Mac Pro Retina and am checking all the customisations I made to it have been made. When I look at graphics under 'more info' in the 'About This Mac' menu - it just says Intel HD Graphics 4000 512MB? I thought all new retina macs came with 1GB NVIDIA Geforce 650M 1GB memory? Am I being dense?

Have since looked in system report - and can see both the built in Intel Graphics on the motherboard AND the NVIDIA card which runs on the PCIe. I was definately being dense....

GM - Multiple Budgets by Grant Year & FM - Budget by FY

Hello,
We are changing our business process and would like to have separate budgets per award year in GM. The scenario is as follows:
- One grant with multiple cost objects (each cost object represents a different award year)
- We need to budget, bill, and report in GM based on these budgets by cost object
- We need to budget by fiscal year in FM
Has anyone solved this problem for themselves, or can offer any suggestions?

Hi Nancy, it seems that your scenario can be solved using time-slices. You can check the Time sppliting rules under GM Budgeting custimizing. And the Grant master data - Tab Budget Validity Periods.

Group wise Budget.

Hi,
Our client wish to implement Group wise Budget and MIS report available on Group wise Budget. Example, under Salary Budget head 10 items are there. Instead of putting 10 items value individually in Budget they will put total value of salary in Budget i.e, group wise of salary budget. Is this group wise budget possible through Internal Order and how?

In our business scenario as service industry there is only Cost Centre and Profit Center is available from SAP in Controlling. There is no internal order. At present only actual items are post both Cost Centre and Profit Centre. There is no planning both cost center and profit center. Our client wish to introduce Groupwise budget i.e, planning from cost side only. No revenue planning they are interested at present. This is the actual scenario. So there is a cost center group, under the Cost Center group individual cost center is availale. Under each of the Cost center multiple cost element may or may not be avallable according to actual entry post. Therefore under cost centrer 1 if 5 cost elements are available as A,B, C,D and E and total cost say Rs 100000(each cost element Rs 20000). My requirement is instead of putting 5 planning cost separately against each cost element A, B, C, D, and E in Plan cost column under same cost center 1 we want to put total planning cost say Rs 150000. Is it possible ? If possible kindly guide me.

Using Personal Budget Template- help with Budget/Transactions

I'm new to using Number and decided to tackle my budget. I've pretty much stuck with using the default template since I'm not too savvy at this yet. But, I've added a new Category under the Budget page, but it doesn't seem to be transferring to my Transaction page. Is there any way to add my created category to the drop down menu under transactions? I added the category "Gifts," but I can't seem to figure out how to get it to show up in the drop down menu in the Transaction worksheet.

Hi Barry,
The new features in Pop-ups make it easy to edit and no, editing does not change the chosen values. If you forget to select all the Pop-ups and change one Pop-up cell, you can later select the rest of the column. Format Inspector offers to merge, and again it does not change chosen values.
Also, we can drag items to reorder the menu. Even better, create a Pop-up from data in selected cells (a long time on the wish-list in Numbers 2).

Hi,
First try to create a table with some values in it and bind it to the node.
When you create the BG there are thow things- Series and Category.
Category is the X Axis and Series is the Y-Axis.
Bind the respective properties to the node defined above.
Select the type of graph as Chart/Line type using the Chart editor.
When right cliecked on the BG you can see the Chart settings there you set the Chart type, X and Y axis.
Create a Business Graphic, under that create Category for X axis and Series fror Y-axis that dispaly values from a table.
Bind the Category to the context node->attribute and also the bindthe values to the respective Series and to the BG UI element.

MacBook PRO 2011 - Windows 7 - Can select HD graphics?

Dear all,
I'm considering purchasing a MacBook PRO 2011 17" model (for the hardware, not for OSX, sorry). I want to run Windows 7 on it (not virtualized).
I did see from the Boot Camp description that Boot Camp provides drivers for both the Intel HD and the AMD graphics card. I'm not concerned with automatic graphics switching, since I won't be using it for gaming.
Since I'm going to be travelling by train quite a bit and want to be able to do my work en route, I would like to know if I will be able to select the integrated Intel graphics under Windows 7 (x64), or if I'm forced to use the AMD graphics.

AMD only. Graphics switching does not function under Windows 7 and the discrete AMD GPU is the one that is active. As the switching is not done via nVidia's Optimus technology, there is not a standard driver package that you can install that will achieve this (AMD/ATI's Catalyst package does not have GPU switching capabilities). Either Apple or a third party would need to develop and support this.
